(Insert big national sub chain name here) this ain't. No, you won't get all the selection that you do at one of those place. However, you also don't get weird smelling bread or deli meats that are of indeterminate age. These are the subs I grew up with so I might be biased. The bread is baked fresh throughout the day and it shows because that is what shines here. I always get the Godfather on the everything bread, it is my favorite. Again, biased. This place is worth trying for when you want something different than the usual sub shop. read more

Best sub sandwiches in the area. Always a great place to grab lunch to eat-in or to-go. There aren't many good places around these days for a solid sub, but this definitely takes the cake. read more

Unprofessional staff needs training. Food very average to even make up for it. Not sure why the wait is so long when the business is completely empty (on a Friday night too) read more

Perhaps the rave reviews had me anticipating more, but I just wasn't super impressed with my experience at DiBella's. I had the grilled veggies with whole grain bread and my wife had the buffalo chicken on sesame seed. Not terrible, not great... just sort of there. Perhaps we should have gone with some of the recommended choices, though. The restaurant is a nice space and the staff is friendly, so this is a cut above your average Subway. If you're out in the 'burbs near Tuttle and your hungry, this isn't a bad choice. I wouldn't recommend specifically making a trip out here just for a meal, though. read more

Tonight was the second time I visited. The first time I had to repeat my order to the girl behind the counter 5 times so she would remember. Tonight I decided to try again. I ordered the Antipasti Salad, which the girl behind the counter asked if I wanted it hot. Why would you heat up a salad? Also the salad is mostly pre-packaged. My daughter ordered the custom sandwich with Corned beef, Swiss and horseradish sauce. She said this was good. I proceeded to order The Godfather for my wife. I got the sandwich and brought it all the way home and it was the wrong sandwich. She ended up getting corned beef with lettuce. She thinks that they heated up the veggies including the lettuce with the beef because everything was hot. She also said the bread was slimy because of that. I don't know what it is about them wanting to heat up lettuce? Just don't do it. read more

Rude workers and horrible service! Ordered online and, at their request, called to tell them I was there. After 20 minutes I went in only to find my food on the bottom shelf sitting there for god knows how long. DO BETTER! read more

First time visiting DiBellas subs because we were in the mood for a sub but wanted to try something new. When you walk in, it doesn't look like your typical sub shop. The atmosphere is like an old timey diner, and the menu is huge. We ordered the god father on sesame bread.... and we were so impressed. This is one of the best subs i've ever had, and the customer service was great. This is my new favorite sub shop I can't wait to come back! read more

I'm a big fan of buffalo chicken subs and DiBella's doesn't disappoint! They don't skimp on the amount of chicken or buffalo sauce. Be aware the sizes on display are a little deceiving. I ordered a medium but quickly realized I would have been more than satisfied with a small. read more

The staff here was excellent and they explained everything about the food here since its our first time here. The subs was very good and I'm a picky eater. This place gives firehouse and Charley's a run for their money!! Will be recommending this place to friends and family. read more

DiBella's Subs - Sandwiches Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I went for a sub today(9/24) around 3 PM the staff was just very not friendly. They take the order like they don't want to work. They finished my sub and dropped and not bagged. They made me wait 5 minutes until one guy saw me and put my subway in a Bag. Please improve the service. Or change all your staff for people that really want to work. Very sad. read more

DiBella's Subs - Some salads and sodas... - Sandwiches Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

The moment we walked in we felt like a weight on the staff present. There was no acknowledgement of our waking into the store and standing in the ordering area. There was three store clerk who were seem to battling over their own personal issue. After a good 10 minutes of patiently waiting the staff asked 'what do you want'? I say I'm good and proceeded to walk out. Owner - if you're reading this, upgrade your staff if you want to continue to stay open. You lost $30 of our business that day. read more

Trapped in a hotel room and looking forward to a sub. However, they DO NOT DELIVER. They only deliver if it's a catering order. Whoever put it on Yelp that they deliver got it wrong! No delivery here. read more

Stop eating at Subway! This food blows it out of the water. Great bread and quality meats. What else do you want from a sub shop? read more

This place has always been good but the last two times I've gone it's been PHENOMENAL. I don't know if they have someone new on the grill or what but the subs are so, so good lately. One of my favorite lunch spots! I read more

As someone from upstate NY you had a sub shop at every wegmans which was a Dibellas. The bread is amazing, the lunch meat isn't questionable like subway or the other sub shops. You just feel satisfied crushing a large sub even if you feel ashamed you ate the whole thing in your heart you don't care cause it was worth every calorie. read more

DiBella's is that place that you kick yourself every time you go. On one hand, the food is consistently delicious. On the other, the service is absolutely atrocious. All they have to do is take your order and cash you out. They seem to make this an ordeal every time I visit. On one occasion I was ignored by the four sandwich chefs for a solid 5 minutes. After they took the order they decided they weren't interested in making my sandwich. I had already paid and waited 5 minutes before I realized my sub was in DiBellas purgatory. It always seems like this place has way too many employees and not a single one is motivated to do their job. At times it's a chore to just checkout. I go back because I love their food but I question myself after each visit. read more

Best subs in Columbus. If you are from the East or just know Wegmans subs, they are like that.

I have tried Subway, Firehouse, Jersey Mikes, Bellacino's, WG Grinders, Jimmy Johns and Quiznos. They have some of the best Submarine sandwiches in town. All ingredients are fresh and the bread is baked daily. Try the everything bread with a sweet sauce and grilled meat. They also have really good fresh baked cookies. If you like Jersey Mikes then you will like the flavor and quality of their subs. Jersey Mikes and DiBella's have the best Submarine sandwiches in town. read more

See all

they blew the order, had the wrong meat on it. The sandwich itself was a giant mushy mess. I ate 1/4 of it and threw the rest away. Not worth getting the order corrected, as the replacement would just be another soggy mess. The corned beef they gave me instead of the godfather, was too salty. Just not very good. read more

I have been to DiBella's three times prior to the review and see myself going back regularly. There is a lot to like about this place. When I go out for a sub the last thing that I really care about is the decor. I want it to be clean and Dibella's is. Beyond that, I really don't care what the angle is on the decor/theme. So far I have had the Godfather(I think that is what it was called) the beef dip, and my own favorite sub of turkey, ham and capicola. The quality of the meats was evident on all three. Fresh, tasty, and ample amounts. The window dressing (read anything on my sub that is not meat) was also fresh and tasty. Had a cookie one time which was also very good. Based on the opinions of others I have gone with, all of the pre designed subs are good. There is a board on the back wall that kind of walks you through the process of building your own if that is what you want to do. In short, sub shops are about subs and subs are about good meats and this place leaves nothing to be complained about in that arena so it is a good bet and you should try it. So why just 4 stars? Well it is really about execution. LIttle things that should be better in the process and aren't ( at least not yet. The staff is friendly and polite but I have noticed that they are not reallyt clear in giving the next person in line a clear indication that they are ready to serve the next person.(You wait in a common line and then go to the next available person to order your food and then take it to the cashier when done to pay) I think that this is due to people being new. Second minor obstacle is that the counter folks (IMHO) still don't really know what they are doing. First time I went I got brown mustard when ordered yellow. Second time I had the beef dip and the person took stacks of sliced beef ( say 5-6 slices stacked) and dipped it in au jus and then on to the bread without ever pulling the slices apart. This meant that there was less sauce and the beef was hard to bite through because there was so much of it. Would have been better to separate the slices, then into the jus, then onto the bread so that there was more air volume between the slices(you know what I am getting at). All three times I have been asked what I wanted, told the person, and then had to repeat the order multiple times through the building process. A good sandwhich maker at a deli will get it all on the first runthrough and get you what you want. Note that none of my concerns have to do with the food per se, just the processes and the processes will get better with time. I will be back often. You should go too. read more

Being a bread-lover, DiBella's gets a thumbs up from me. The bread is very chewy and filling which may be a bit much for some...but I love it! All 3 times I've been here I had the everything bread which tastes like an everything bagel on top. My love for everything bagels is legendary! You get a choice between that, the multi-grain, sesame, and plain. As other Yelpers mentioned, the ordering system is a bit confusing here if you have never been before. You pick your bread, size, sub, and extras with one person, then walk over and check out(drinks and sides) with another. Then they bring your sub to your table based on the number you took. Very filling sandwiches! I instantly put this place up with my top options for hot subs. read more

Great steak and cheese sandwich. Excellent value for the price. The roll was super fresh but a little too much bread for me. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back and try another sandwich. Tip -the large is big enough to share. read more

Ordered a godfather online on a sesame seed bun. Had special instructions to toast the bun well done. However, it was barely toasted. How hard can it be to make a bun toasty? I grew up working at pizza restaurants and it was never problem when someone ordered well done. This, I deconstructed the sun and toasted the bun and reheated the meat and cheese. The sub was very tasty. Not sure if I'll return-its up in the air. read more

The sandwich didn't have much flavor at all, I might give it another chance to try something else, but there are many other places I'd rather go first. read more

First time here and ordered a cheesesteak philly, Very good sub, bread was soft and delicious

Typically not a sandwich person but, these subs are awesome! Particularly like the everything bread. Reasonable price.

The best meatball sub I've ever had, period. The Old Fashioned Assorted is good too, and the turkey sub is delicious and fresh without even a hint of that slimy/watery texture that you find sometimes on deli turkey. Nice fresh bread and fresh ingredients. I love it! The only sub I've ever had there that was mediocre was the buffalo chicken sub. Even the cheese steak was good. read more

Subs are always good, the employees are always helpful and welcoming, we've never had any problems here.

I got pickup for a quick dinner one night. I called and they had my godfather sub ready for me. I got the medium and it was HUGE! I also got a side of pasta salad, not so great. I tried some one my boyfriends cookie and I would defiantly get a cookie instead of a side. Overall if we want a quick sub we will go back. read more

Old School New York deli style subs. Tons of meat on each sub and the bread is thick and fresh and made in-house daily. The subs are a bit pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for. I go with either the Cheesesteak or the Godfather grilled on everything bread every time. Good stuff, this is a winner! read more

Great old fashioned submarines. Supper friendly staff. They bake their own bread and cookies.

The Buckeye sub is one of my favorites. Haven't had any others but I would bet they are great too.
