Tonight was the second time I visited. The first time I had to repeat my order to the girl behind the counter 5 times so she would remember. Tonight I decided to try again. I ordered the Antipasti Salad, which the girl behind the counter asked if I wanted it hot. Why would you heat up a salad? Also the salad is mostly pre-packaged. My daughter ordered the custom sandwich with Corned beef, Swiss and horseradish sauce. She said this was good. I proceeded to order The Godfather for my wife. I got the sandwich and brought it all the way home and it was the wrong sandwich. She ended up getting corned beef with lettuce. She thinks that they heated up the veggies including the lettuce with the beef because everything was hot. She also said the bread was slimy because of that. Perhaps the rave reviews had me anticipating more, but I just wasn't super impressed with my experience at DiBella's. I had the grilled veggies with whole grain bread and my wife had the buffalo chicken on sesame seed. Not terrible, not great... just sort of there. Perhaps we should have gone with some of the recommended choices, though. The restaurant is a nice space and the staff is friendly, so this is a cut above your average Subway. If you're out in the 'burbs near Tuttle and your hungry, this isn't a bad choice. I wouldn't recommend specifically making a trip out here just for a meal, though. read more

First time visiting DiBellas subs because we were in the mood for a sub but wanted to try something new. When you walk in, it doesn't look like your typical sub shop. The atmosphere is like an old timey diner, and the menu is huge. We ordered the god father on sesame bread.... and we were so impressed. The moment we walked in we felt like a weight on the staff present. There was no acknowledgement of our waking into the store and standing in the ordering area. There was three store clerk who were seem to battling over their own personal issue. After a good 10 minutes of patiently waiting the staff asked 'what do you want'? I went for a sub today(9/24) around 3 PM the staff was just very not friendly. They take the order like they don't want to work. They finished my sub and dropped and not bagged. Ordered a godfather online on a sesame seed bun. Had special instructions to toast the bun well done. However, it was barely toasted. How hard can it be to make a bun toasty? I grew up working at pizza restaurants and it was never problem when someone ordered well done. This, I deconstructed the sun and toasted the bun and reheated the meat and cheese. As someone from upstate NY you had a sub shop at every wegmans which was a Dibellas. The bread is amazing, the lunch meat isn't questionable like subway or the other sub shops. DiBella's is that place that you kick yourself every time you go. On one hand, the food is consistently delicious. On the other, the service is absolutely atrocious. All they have to do is take your order and cash you out. They seem to make this an ordeal every time I visit. On one occasion I was ignored by the four sandwich chefs for a solid 5 minutes. After they took the order they decided they weren't interested in making my sandwich. I had already paid and waited 5 minutes before I realized my sub was in DiBellas purgatory. It always seems like this place has way too many employees and not a single one is motivated to do their job. At times it's a chore to just checkout. I have tried Subway, Firehouse, Jersey Mikes, Bellacino's, WG Grinders, Jimmy Johns and Quiznos. They have some of the best Submarine sandwiches in town. All ingredients are fresh and the bread is baked daily. Try the everything bread with a sweet sauce and grilled meat. They also have really good fresh baked cookies. If you like Jersey Mikes then you will like the flavor and quality of their subs. Jersey Mikes and DiBella's have the best Submarine sandwiches in town. read more

they blew the order, had the wrong meat on it. The sandwich itself was a giant mushy mess. I ate 1/4 of it and threw the rest away. I have been to DiBella's three times prior to the review and see myself going back regularly. There is a lot to like about this place. When I go out for a sub the last thing that I really care about is the decor. I want it to be clean and Dibella's is. Beyond that, I really don't care what the angle is on the decor/theme. So far I have had the Godfather(I think that is what it was called) the beef dip, and my own favorite sub of turkey, ham and capicola. The quality of the meats was evident on all three. Fresh, tasty, and ample amounts. The window dressing (read anything on my sub that is not meat) was also fresh and tasty. Had a cookie one time which was also very good. Based on the opinions of others I have gone with, all of the pre designed subs are good. There is a board on the back wall that kind of walks you through the process of building your own if that is what you want to do. In short, sub shops are about subs and subs are about good meats and this place leaves nothing to be complained about in that arena so it is a good bet and you should try it. So why just 4 stars? Well it is really about execution. LIttle things that should be better in the process and aren't ( at least not yet. The staff is friendly and polite but I have noticed that they are not reallyt clear in giving the next person in line a clear indication that they are ready to serve the next person.(You wait in a common line and then go to the next available person to order your food and then take it to the cashier when done to pay) I think that this is due to people being new. Second minor obstacle is that the counter folks (IMHO) still don't really know what they are doing. First time I went I got brown mustard when ordered yellow. Second time I had the beef dip and the person took stacks of sliced beef ( say 5-6 slices stacked) and dipped it in au jus and then on to the bread without ever pulling the slices apart. This meant that there was less sauce and the beef was hard to bite through because there was so much of it. Would have been better to separate the slices, then into the jus, then onto the bread so that there was more air volume between the slices(you know what I am getting at). All three times I have been asked what I wanted, told the person, and then had to repeat the order multiple times through the building process. A good sandwhich maker at a deli will get it all on the first runthrough and get you what you want. Note that none of my concerns have to do with the food per se, just the processes and the processes will get better with time. I will be back often. You should go too. read more

Being a bread-lover, DiBella's gets a thumbs up from me. The bread is very chewy and filling which may be a bit much for some...but I love it! All 3 times I've been here I had the everything bread which tastes like an everything bagel on top. My love for everything bagels is legendary! You get a choice between that, the multi-grain, sesame, and plain. As other Yelpers mentioned, the ordering system is a bit confusing here if you have never been before. You pick your bread, size, sub, and extras with one person, then walk over and check out(drinks and sides) with another. Then they bring your sub to your table based on the number you took. The best meatball sub I've ever had, period. The Old Fashioned Assorted is good too, and the turkey sub is delicious and fresh without even a hint of that slimy/watery texture that you find sometimes on deli turkey. Old School New York deli style subs. Tons of meat on each sub and the bread is thick and fresh and made in-house daily. The subs are a bit pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for. I only punish myself by coming here because the sandwiches are decent and its very close to where I live. Every time and I go here none of the employees are ever friendly. NEVER EVER!!
