I have been passing this place, thinking "huh...gotta try this" but never have. Well, today I finally stopped my procrastinating and tried it. I am glad I did! Its a lot bigger than what I expected. Its decorated in the soothing green color. Its actually relaxing. You order at their counter and there is an area well marked to keep the line in order. Just before the counter is a grab and go case where you can just get the variety of chicken salad you prefer which is brilliant as then you dont need to wait for it to be packaged. Like that a lot. Did I meantion that they pretty much only have chicken salad, chicken salad sandwiches, salad and soup? It sounds limiting.... But its not. So many varieties. We chose a buffalo chicken salad and a chicken salad that has fuji apples, grapes and pineapple. It surprisingly blended very well together. The buffalo is definately my favorite. If you have nut allergies the two varieties above do not have nuts in them. There were other varieties that had almonds and/or pecans in them so make sure you read the description. If you are really sensitive this might not be the place for you. I was totally fine and have an almond/walnut/peanut allergy. The staff was friendly and quick. The dining how are you? Honestly, it's chicken salad! But I got the two scoops and added on a third because of the cashier. She was so passionate about the lemon basil (Lauryn's) and it ended up being the best one. We also had the Cranberry Kelli, some fruit one (I forget but it has pineapple in it) and a BLT sandwich. Kiddo got the Mac and cheese and he inhaled that! Each meal came with a frosted cookie, so that was a nice touch. The grape salad was a hard pass for me - grapes have to be crunchy in my book and these were very much not crunchy and way too soft. I stopped in because I've heard so much about Chicken Salad Chick. Walked up to the counter and started talking to the young lady about what she recommended and what the menu was about. She was very helpful and patient with me. (I had lots of questions). A couple of minutes into our conversation, another employee came up and said she would take my order because the person I was speaking with was going to lunch. I said ok and tried to ask more questions about the menu. But this second employee was very stand-off ish, and a bit rude. She seemed too bothered to answer questions. But, I ordered and paid. I had to obtain some of my own food from the self serve fridge, which was fine. After she bagged everything up, I walked to the nearest table, (got my food to go) just to check if it was all there because the bag felt light. Sure enough, it was not all there. I went back to the counter and told her I was missing my pasta salad and she did apologize and gave me a free cookie. That was nice. I bought enough food for myself and my husband for dinner. We both tried a little bit of everything I bought. Fancy Nancy chicken salad, pimento cheese spread, pasta salad and a spicy chicken salad ( but it was more like spread). First off, pasta salad was very dry. I don't like my pasta salad swimming in dressing, but this was so dry we had to add our own dressing. The spicy chicken (salad) was good, a little too spicy for me though. The pimento cheese was very very dry also. I couldn't even get it to stay on my cracker. The Fancy Nancy chicken salad was good. But honestly nothing really special. So, really disappointed in this place. Which is sad because I love chicken salad. They do have different flavored chicken salad on the menu and I may go back to try them. Hopefully they read this and can check their products for quality. I've never seen this many options for chicken salad! For about $12 I got a drink, a sandwich, side (mac and cheese) and a mini cookie! You'll never find prices that good and the food be just as good! I got what I thought was gonna be a super spicy one but honestly it was barely spicy. Still delicious just wish it was hotter. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review was the inside of the restaurant. It smelled like a nursing home, and honestly felt like I was eating in the dinning room of a nursing home. The dining room was so out dated and felt a little gross. I probably wouldn't dine in again at this location but would definitely order to-go. Another location in a strip mall, another great lunch. I've been to the other location, so they are definitely spreading around here, and this is a somewhat national chain. Note: my GPS first took me to a spot closer to downtown New Albany. This is actually in a strip near the new Target on Hamilton. I got the trio, with barbecue chicken salad on wheat, a scoop of the old South on the side, and the broccoli salad. The barbecue was perfect on a sandwich. Has a little more flavor than their standard style. The Old South was like the chicken salad I grew up eating, I think. And the broccoli salad is always good. Plus I got a sweet tea, perfectly sweetened. You also get crackers, a cookie, and a pickle spear. Great food, good price, nice selection. This was our first time to this establishment. We placed our order and paid at 6:16pm. The six customers who came in after us received their food before us. Why? We didn't order anything unusual or that needed cooked (like a melt). We finally received our food at 6:41pm. The chicken salad had a delicious flavor, but could have had a little less mayo, and could have done without two pieces of gristle. The soup was delicious, and will order again, minus the bacon on top. The pickle was wimpy instead of firm and crunchy...I tossed. The cookie was a nice treat. Lunch was catered by Chicken Salad Chick. Since the name of the business is CHICKEN SALAD Chick, I expected the chicken salad to be epic, right? Not only was it not epic, it was not bad but it was certainly nothing special. My homemade chicken salad has pecans, dried fruit & celery in it but this was just ground up chicken with mayo and onion. Pretty dismal, I thought, but better than the egg salad which was sweet. Nothing in the egg salad but mayo and lots of sweet pickle relish. The broccoli salad was also quite sweet - couldn't taste the cheese at all though I could see it in there. The green salad was just spinach and greens out of a bag served with 2 bottles of store-bought dressing: ranch and Italian. Nothing special there. Maybe the worst thing was the fresh fruit: a lot of it was not even close to ripe! Turns out honeydew near the rind is even harder than interior unripe honeydew. I think the yellow fruit was rock-hard mango but hard to say for sure since I had to spit it out - not what you want to do when eating lunch with a bunch of friends but it was way too woody to chew. I selected a croissant and a side of fruit. When I got it home it was on white bread and the turkey was thick slices of carved turkey. Came with cheese, but unfortunately the cheese still had wax paper stuck to it. I couldn't peel it off. So we didn't eat it. Fruit was slices of strawberries and grapes. Tasty! Not the freshest. This was first (and only) visit to CSC. I had never heard of it, but wound up here totally by chance. I love chicken salad so was intrigued enough to try it. I ordered the traditional, classic chicken salad on croissant with a cup of the chicken/poblano soup. Counter service was good and the young lady (with lots of blush :) ) brought it pretty quick. The chicken salad: if an item is in the very name of your restaurant, it should be STELLAR. If you hang your hat on an item you serve, it should be AMAZING. This CS was neither. First, the chicken salad was basically pulverized into tiny specks of chicken. It was really more like a dip or spread than CS. CS should have chunks of chicken (and NOT just white meat!!). There wasn't a piece of chicken bigger than a long grain piece of rice. Second, I guess they use mayo but it had zero mayo taste. It was very runny, not thick like mayo. Zero flavor, zero consistency. Third, the croissant was literally cold; not room temp, no, COLD. On top of that, it was horrible in taste and texture. It wasn't flaky, or buttery, as a croissant should be. It was cold and blah. Not sure where they buy these, but they need to see Pistacia Vera about what a real croissant looks like, Yuk. The soup: it wasn't BAD, but...bland! It was more ho-hum, and with very little chicken or poblanos in it. I actually picked up the bowl and DRANK it with no issue. That's how thin it was. The pickle: a dill spear that was the best part of the meal, really. There was also some little cookie thing that I didn't even want to try after this meal. In summation, this was DEPRESSING. I travel to France and Italy where the vast majority of shop owners take great pride in what they serve. It matters to them what they put in front of you. Their passion is evident. The people who own CSC clearly don't give a damn. They should be embarrassed that I paid almost $12 for shite. And the fact that others give them good reviews simply shows that (sadly) most Americans have little to no discrimination when it comes to food (hello Olive Garden). This was a dismal experience. This place is great if you are looking for a healthy, delicious option. Everything was so fresh and light, and I felt great after eating. I had the chicken salad BLT with the southern something chicken salad. It supposedly was made with sweet pickles and eggs, which I could not taste. The bacon could have been crispier. The broccoli salad was the star of the show is it was outstanding. The mushy little cookie that they provide with your meal was a disappointment. I love sweets but I gave my cookie away.
