Brian was very friendly, informative, and knowledgeable about health insurance, their frame selection, and their lens offerings. Brian was also doing a great job of attending to multiple clients at a time. I had a really great and easy experience, thanks to him! This optical department has a pretty great deal if you get 2 pairs of glasses, as the second pair of frames will be $50 off. The selection of frames for regular glasses is pretty robust. I do wish there were more options for sunglasses, but I've been able to find at least one pair that works well. The lenses are of great quality as they include anti-blue light coating and an anti-scratch coating as well! For sunglasses, you can choose from 3 different colors for the lenses (brown, blue-gray, and green). You can also choose to make your sunglasses transition as well. All in all, I'd really recommend this eyewear department. Their customer service is great and they offer really quality glasses with many affordable options. Dr. Risco and her staff are excellent. My family and I have been getting our eye care from her for more than 10 years. The staff is friendly and competent. When I developed a cataract, Dr. Risco referred me to an excellent ophthalmologist. Although the medical doctor is good, I returned to Dr. Risco recently for my eye exam and lens prescription because I trust her. She does a thorough exam and clearly explains the results and treatment options. read more

The optometrist there Duong was very rude and condescending. I went there to ask about the process from switching from ortho K to soft contact lenses. Instead he berated me with questions like why haven't I had an eye exam recently and why don't I have a pair of backup glasses. Very judgmental and I wouldnt recommend to anyone else. I scheduled an appointment and merited I was 2 minutes late (roadwork and parking). If a patient is expected to arrive early for any paperwork, then it should be indicated. There were two people waiting and initially I assumed it was just one person waiting to be seen (they were husband and wife). As the time got closer to 30 mins after my appointment time, I asked the gentleman if he was waiting to be seen. He said yes. I was then asked if I had a question and I asked when I would be seen. She stated since I was late that my time was given to someone else. I am assuming they overbooked as well since the couple were together or took both. I was the told to shop and come back which would have been 45 mins to an hour over my initial appointment time. They should have told me in the beginning that they took someone else ahead of me and let me know to come back instead of me sitting there and having to ask. I think the timeframe of taking both would have been closer to over an hour after my appointment since I was still needing to do both exams. If you make an appointment, arrive early or your appointment will be given away. read more

Dr. Diana Risco is 5 Stars all the way. She is so knowledgeable, answers all your questions, and is very thorough in her exam. I have gone to opthamologists in Beverly Hills and Dr. Diana is way better, you totally feel well taken care of. She is the best optometrist in my whole history of having eye issues since I was 10 (that's 30+ years of experience). She was able to reassure me that my squiggly line that suddenly appeared was not ominous and fairly normal and would go away in about 3 mos or so on it's own. What a relief!!! I stopped by the office because of the high review score for Dr. Risco and was surprised to see some other attending optometrist. I went through the motion to have my eye exam anyhow, hoping that I'll get a better diagnosis than my previous health care provider's. It turned out that the exam I received, with the extra 20 dollar photomap imaging, did reveal nothing more than a typical near sighted condition. I was recommended the exact pair of glasses that I had prescribed a year ago. Since I am using up my insurance allowance for the year, I'll need to spend my out of the pocket for another exam. All of my frustration could have been prevented had this Costco site listed all the names of the providers so that we can choose one upfront. KHN read more

Shout out to Marian! She treated me with so much kindness and patience over the phone when I wanted to schedule eye exams for my family. There was a technical difficulty with checking my vision insurance, and she remained so patient and respectful throughout the multiple attempts it took to find my insurance. I really appreciate how she did her best to update me on my insurance on the same day I called, and she took the time to address all of my questions thoroughly as well. Thank you so much, Marian! Dr. Kim Nguyen and her team at the office of Dr. Risco's in the Optical center at Costco were very polite and professional throughout the duration of my eye exam. Even though I was a few minutes late to my contact lens appointment they were able to squeeze me in (even though it would infringe a little into their break time). Dr. Nguyen and team didn't make me feel rushed or pressured, and I would totally recommend this office (which does accept VSP). I was on a quest for a new doctor after 1) my initial favorite doctor left town, 2) finding I didn't like the replacement doctor as much, and 3) experiencing disappointing appointments at other locations (with staff peddling expensive and unwanted frames or doctors who up-charged unneeded services). read more

I've been coming to Dr. RIsco's GG Office since 2010. I don't know about the first reviewer on here, but I've been seen by Dr. RIsco and Dr. Kim Nguyen. Both Dr's had been helpful, informative and receptive to questions. The front desk staff have been curteous and quick to do their job. They always try to keep the patients happy by getting them in and out efficiently. It's good to ask questions. If your curious about the Dr.'s and the practice, don't hesitate to ask the staff. If you don't feel satisfied with your visit I suggest speaking with the doctor more in depthly. I have found that they are always willing to take the time out to explain things to their patients. That in itself makes me feel comfortable in wanting to come back. read more

I went to see Dr. Vy uong O.D. Lic #9706T, I took my daughter to Costco with an eye infection she noticalbely had crust, red eye, watery, and itchy eyes. This was noticably PINK eye and this Dr. said he was an allergies . The weird thing was he was suppossed to do and eye exam and took all of maybe 10 minutes with her. I have never seen an eye exam like this one. Then when I questioned him on my daughter's eye infection he said there was nothing wrong NEVER AGAIN, I paid 49.00 for nothing! To top things off my husband, my daughter (the one that had the eye exam) and my self were standing in line to pay at Costco and the same Dr. and his were walking by talking about me and my daughter. I just could not believe it. I will be contacting the owner of this place Dr. Diana Risco OD to make a complaint. Suggestions, ask questions and if it does not make sense DONT PAY! Monique read more

Dr. Diana Risco is an amazing optometrist. She answered all of my questions, provided me with options i can choose from, and really examined my eyes with care. I had a very bad eye infection and she had me come in a few times to check on the healing progress of my eyes. She also let me try on a few pairs of contacts so i can feel and see the differences and comfortability. I will definitely be making my yearly appointments with her from now on. She also made me feel very encouraged to start and continue taking care of my eyes because i could have lost my vision. She was very caring and sweet too. read more

I came in for my annual eye exam on a friday. To my delight, I was greeted by an enthusiastic, friendly, and courteous receptionist named Kris. She answered all the dumb questions I had with extreme patience and knowledge. I was seen almost instantly by Dr. Nguyen, who was also equally enthusiastic and warm. Dr Nguyen answered all of my questions and gave me great tips on how to care for my eyes. She was extremely caring and personable with me despite the short time I was there. These two women were a sheer delight and made my day. I look forward to my next visit and anytime I stop by garden grove Costco I make it a point to stop by and greet the two gals. Thank you Dr Nguyen and Kris for making my eye exam a fantastic experience. I never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything. Rather, they gave me tips on how to save some $$ on my contacts through costco coupons and rebates. They even gave me a sample of solution to try. I've been to other offices and have had terrible times. I highly recommend garden grove Costco optical office. :) read more
