I recently had to get prescription glasses for my first time (I'm getting old). I got them here and the process was painless. I was able to get my vision tested and worked with my insurance to choose a frame that i liked in about 30 mins. I came back in a day to pick them up. This is not why I'm writing this review. Being new to having to carry glasses around, I knew I'd either lose them or break them eventually. The latter happened when I was in a hurry to get to a funeral and forgot that I put them on my car seat. I drove a whole hour before I realized I had been sitting on them the whole time. I thought they were surely cooked; they were bent to hell with one of the lenses completely cracked. I was preparing to pay full price to replace everything, but they told me to come in to see if they could fix them. When I brought them in, the guy in the back was able to bend them back in place right there and they told me to come back the next day for the replacement lens. When I got them back it they looked like nothing ever happened and they only charged me for the one lens. In this world, you need a car place, a tire place, a hair place, and now I learned you need also eye place. I'm glad I found Bo An to be my eyeglass place on my first go! Whoop! read more

Leave it to Bo An Optometry to save me and my glasses yet again! One side of the nose piece broke off while I was cleaning my glasses. This was totally my fault since I'm pretty rough with them on a regular basis. To be honest, I wasn't even sure whether or not it could be fixed this time around. But leave it to Bo An Optometry to make miracles happen. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! Talk about speedy service! When I got my glasses back, I noticed they also tightened the sides and cleaned them too-- making them look almost brand new. I was completely stunned and speechless with the quality of service here. I always get 6 months worth which is about $120. I'm not exactly sure if the contacts are considered normal priced here, but I can tell you that everyone that works here is super nice especially Ben. The optometrist, Dr. Kaitlyn Vo, is an absolute gem. She shows so much warmth and empathy that my Daughter's initial nervousness quickly disappeared. Just this early afternoon, in fact, Dr. Vo provided even more sage advice and suggestions than our own ophthalmologist (whom we saw this morning)! Literally got scammed out of $400. Had them do the blue light lenses but recently went to another shop and they said there is no blue light lenses on them. They literally were making such a big deal and had to wait for a week to get them done. The new shop I went to did the lenses and I got another pair and they were done in less than one day. i will never return to boan. i dropped off a pair of moscot lemtosh's to have new prescription lenses fitted - they broke the frames - guess how? right down the middle. the break was down the middle of the nose bridge part of the frame. tell me how that happens if it was actually done by the lab installing the lenses? i suspect foul play here. they provided no paperwork or any kind of record or receipt from the lab indicating the break occurred while attempting a lens install. after showing me the broken frames, they recommended i select a pair of from their showcase--their intention all along. it really seemed like someone had just snapped them in half in the store because they resented the fact that i did not want to fork up the cash to buy one of their house frames. i own high quality frames that i like and are perfectly fine to be refitted - why should i change my look every couple years - just because the optician wants to make more money? pfff.. it took them another two weeks to get an identical frame i had fitted. this place is a HUGE NO. read the other negative reviews - there are many, and if i were you, i would heed these warnings. go elsewhere. i found an online lab that fitted new prescription lenses onto used frames for $50-$65 each which was half of my copay at boan. coating, thinning, everything. do a quick search and thank me later. read more

This is my first ever review on Yelp so it shows how furious I am to even write this. I went here last year in September to get my glasses done because of the 4 star rating. They asked me if I wanted anti glare add on for my glasses and I said no at first, but shortly agreed after because I want to support businesses. This year around May I noticed my lens were chipping off. I thought it was just normal wear and tear but after going to another optometrist, they told me that it's a defect and I should contact the place that did it for me. I haven't been around the area until now -- I went in today to tell them about it and they were eating lunch. I willingly was going to leave and come back later but one of the workers got up and asked me what I needed. I told him about my issue and he told me there's nothing they can do and they would have to charge me because it's been over a year. I understand warranty issues, but that was NEVER explicitly said to me when I got the glasses and I would assume if I got my glasses done here, they should be able to fix any problems for me.... That wasn't even the worst part. While talking to the guy because HE chose to help ME, the optometrist got up and RUDELY told me to come back in 30 minutes. What. The. Hell? Your employee is trying to help me, why are you trying to shoo me away? I'm in the midst of talking to him and she continuously cuts me off and tells me to leave and come back. This place does NOT deserve a 4 star. I know so many other places that would fix your glasses if there's any problems - Idk why this place is any different. One star for horrible sales manners. I stopped by today to help my elderly mom pick out a pair of glasses. At first the sales lady was very friendly, but once we decided we would not be making a purchase today, she became irritated and rude. I might understand if we were annoying customers who took up a lot of her time. But we were there for 5-10 min, asked only a couple of questions, tried on maybe a total of 5 pairs of glasses, and were courteous. Before leaving, I inquired about a pair my mom had liked, and I very gently turned it to the side so I can get a side view, but she complained in Korean: "If you touch all the glasses like that, I have to sanitize them all." Again, the total number of glasses I touched at the store is probably 5. Maybe 6. She didn't care when we went around trying them on when she thought she was making a sale, but once she knew we were on our way out, her attitude totally changed. I see that I'm not alone in my experience, seeing the other negative reviews. I never bother with reviews and this is my second one ever (the first being when my friend and I both got food poisoning from a restaurant), so I have to be pretty bothered to write one. They actually had a decent selection, so we originally considered returning so my mom can get an eye exam and purchase two pairs of glasses, but we won't ever be returning unless I can pull off the scene from "Pretty Woman" when Julia Roberts returns with lots of shopping bags to the rude store clerk and says "Big mistake, big, huge!" read more

I love how nice and sweet everyone is there they are all very informative and kind. 2 years ago during my appointment the doctor noticed I had swelling within my eyes and needed to go to the ER immediately I was 4 months pregnant with my daughter at the time. Had it not been for her I would have never known I had idiopathic intracranial hypertension. I no longer live in the area but I will continue to go and to refer my family and friends. I just picked up my new contacts and glasses and I couldn't be happier with how speedy the whole process was even with the pandemic they continue to service and keep a sanitary business. Best eye exam. Dr. Jenny is great! Had lasik over 20 years ago, and been to numerous places cause of astigmatism. No one got it right cause I'd feel dizzy with the Rxs. She got it spot on. I am so happy I went here! I was very skeptical about going to local own optometry but I absolutely love my experience here. The staff here are fantastic and they never rush you. Ben and Dr. Nguyen are the best since they were the one who helped my wife and I out the most. Dr. Nguyen was so nice. She makes sure you are comfortable with your prescription and whenever you ask her a question she explains it to the fullest and make sure you fully understand. She recommended me some eye drops and I've been using it since then and it has help me so much! Ben is absolutely so caring about his customers! He makes sure the glasses are fit right and done right. He's very honest and will tell you which one looks good, which one fits your budget, and he'll even warn you when the price is too much. I've never seen such caring customer service like this before. I live in Arizona and whenever I come to California I always get my eye exam and new glasses each year. I got an eye exam and lenses through here in the year 2015. The eye exam was normal and the staff was friendly and even saw that I had expensive frames and offered to do my lenses in house as opposed to sending it out to the lab where they aren't as careful for no additional charge. I thought this was great! I got my glasses with lenses back in good condition but I could not see as clear as my old glasses. They said it was due to me not getting the same thin lens type I did in the past and I did not getting antiglare. But didn't do anything to actually check if anything was wrong. So I proceeded to pay extra for the anti glare. Got the glasses back and still had the same problem but I didn't know any better and attributed it to the lens type. Fast forward 2 years later, I went to a different optometry. They notified me that my the centering of the pupils on my lenses were WAY off and that was the reason I could not see correctly and getting headaches....they were in disbelief that I had been wearing thos that long. read more

If I can give them a "ZERO" star, I'd give it to them. The WORST customer service EVER. I came here to shop for some glasses for the first time and this guy with the black horn-rimmed glasses on (His name is "BEN") seemed to be the manager of the store (I'm guessing he's the owner's son). He was extraordinarily rude with terrible manners. I brought in my prescription from somewhere else and asked to see how much I can be covered with it. Then he offered me the most expensive option for my glasses. When I asked him to find the most affordable ones, he was very negative about showing off the worst mannerism by not even offering me to browse the frames that they have available. When I asked him where the frames are for the glasses, he turned his head around to point to his backside. All the frames were on the shelves inside the show window, and no one offered to pull the glasses frame out for me to try on. I asked the other employee to pull one of the glasses frames out for me to try on, this other employee also said, "I'm busy helping another customer so WAIT!" I waited and asked another female employee (she seems to be the owner, in a white gown), and then she softly told the guy, who just ignored me, to help. But no one cared at all. Then this guy "BEN" came up to me and said, "I want you to leave if you are not actually buying anything!" I was only there for less than 5 minutes and was waiting to be helped and this is what I got for kindly waiting. I was like WTF is wrong with these guys... they don't appreciate their customers or at least I got the feeling that they were marginalizing me. My favorite place to get glasses in Orange County. They don't hook it up as much as Optopiks in k-town but still pretty close if you don't live or work in LA anymore. Made an appointment for 4:30pm in the afternoon that same day but arrived around 3pm. You don't really need an appointment though. Walk-ins are welcome if you have time to spare. They get pretty busy on the weekends though. Did an eye exam, fitted for contacts, and got glasses cut all under an hour and a half! I was on my way home by 4:20pm. I was able to use my own frames at no additional charge. The poly carbonate and anti-reflective look pretty good even with my bad prescription. Love how they have a guy on-site that makes the lenses who does great work. He even fixed my loose frames last time that no one could fix. If you're in the OC; this is the spot for your eyeballs. read more

If you look at my past reviews you will see I rarely leave negative reviews. I have never left a 1 star review as well because I would rather not revisit the place rather than waste any more time on the place. However this place is tried to partake in INSURANCE SCAM using my 75 year old mother. That I cannot forgive. Right before Covid19 hit, my mom ordered a pair of glasses and unfortunately we could not pick it up until late last month. They put it on her and would not allow her to take it off because of covid restrictions so she wore them home. She mentioned that the glasses kept sliding off so I looked at it and saw that the lenses were THICK. For years, my mom wore frameless glasses and they always coated the lenses because the legs cannot support thick lenses. We called immediately but they were closed and when we called back on Monday they told us to being it back for them to fix. We dropped the glasses off later that week and went back today to pick it up when the OWNER insisted that they can only exchange it for a pair of glasses that cost less than $100. We paid $270 for the frame only and so we would have to adjust it with our insurance. When we pointed that out, she said the lens cost $300. (We know. Our insurance covered the lens cost as well and paid it in full.) When my mom was mentioning that the OWNER shouted and I I translate "why does this old hag talk so much." You heard that right. She called a customer an old hag for pointing out that the frames we paid for cost a lot more than the one she wanted us to exchange for. We didnt even want to exchange the frame. We wanted our lens prescription to be correct. Later when we got home we called our insurance agent and learned that they tried to tell a bullshit story on why they cant issue a refund. The owner kept trying to intimidate my mother into keeping the glasses but she just left rather than deal with such a horrid bully. I am appalled to think that the OWNER thinks elder abuse is the way to go when she can't get her way. I hope everyone who visits here never has to deal with the owner. Dont want to think of the abuse she puts her employees through because the eye doctor/optometrist was great. I'm calling the insurance company to sort this. read more

I went to this place to fix my glasses and they didn't charge me a penny both times. The first time was to install the nose pads for my eyeglasses and the second time was to fix my Prada sunglasses' crooked frame which I accidentally sit on. I was about to throw away my sunglasses since it looked like it's broken beyond repair but I wanted to give it a try and came in for repair. Garbage services. Just came here to shop some glasses for the first time and this guy with the glasses on, seems to be a manager of the store. He was so rude with terrible manners. We weren't doing anything bad, just came in and started looking around with our "eyes" only. It was about 1 or 2mins after we came in and this guy, all of sudden just yelled at us, saying "shop only with your eyes" several times. Wtf is wrong with this guy... some freaking mental issues? I have been going to this optometry clinic since the 1980's. Yes I am old now. They have amazing stylish selections. I purchased frames from Prada, Gucci, Burberry,etc. They have huge selections. Sometimes I just replaced my lens. They will typically say come back in an hour and will be done. Costco takes 1-2 weeks. The staff is professional and helpful.
