Travelled from PDX to Seattle. Let's see what the hype is all about. Walked in, you'll be greeted by an iPad to add yourself to the wait-list. Within 9 minutes of waiting, we were seated on a busy Sunday afternoon. To describe how busy they were: 4 groups ahead of us and more people after us. After we were seated, we got tea and greeted with another iPad to place our order. English, Chinese, photos and prices clearly labeled. Nice. I didn't need to translate any of this! Browse thru the wide selection and picked our usual: shrimp dumplings, Siu Mia, Phoenix claw and beef rice rolls. Pushed the "send to kitchen" button and within minutes, food started to roll out one after another. We analyzed the flavor, portion and presentation. Ingredients were fresh, food were a decent size for averaging $7 a plate. Presentation was not bad either. Service was quick and attentive. Pro Tip: must call on iPad or else they will ignore you. The place is big; can fit a lot of people. Yes, bring your huge party here and eat or maybe a wedding banquet. Clean location with a big screen as a backdrop. "Tea" is $2 per person - added by restaurant. Parking is street parking with a very small parking lot, can be stressful as during busy times. However, come in a Sunday and street parking if free. We did not book the VIP room but overall this was a great experience and a huge step for dim sum in Seattle. The dimsum scene in seattle has been lagging behind other cities like Vancouver, and it's nice to see we finally have a fairly competitive large scale dim sum place with good food and fairly competitive pricing. Do keep in mind that some menu items are way overpriced and you should be wary of that when ordering. Food - They have a very large variety of dim sum offerings. All of the items that came out were very flavorful and well cooked. The truffle dumplings were especially good, but everything else we had was also great quality food. Tea is offered when you first sit down. Service - There is an host at the front of the restaurant to help with seating people. Otherwise you will put your name on a waitlist. We had a allergy at our table and we were unable to put a note for what kind of allergies our table had in the order. When servers came by, they didn't confirm any orders or ask if we had allergies but just started bringing dishes out. They're very busy so it's hard to get a hold of the waitstaff. Most of the ordering process is through the iPad so that makes it simpler. Ambiance - Large dim sum style dining room, suitable for large events and banquets. Three of us made a date to have dim sum in Chinatown. Diamond Bay was recommended after the place we were planning on was closed...on a Wednesday! It was fortuitous. We loved all our dishes. Hot, tasty and flavored so well. A little different. Our service was quick, and as cordial as an authentic dim sum place can be. We felt looked after and welcomed. Overall, this place is good. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating was the price. Have I had better Dim Sum, yes but this is probably my easy second in list of favorites. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food came out quickly and overall the flavors were good and portions were as you would expect. Unfortunately, you order from a tablet at the table. The idea and concept is great, but do they clean the tablets between customers? NOPE, it was actually kind of gross and grimy. We had a party of six and managed to get in at 11:00am on a Sunday but by the time we left there was probably ~50 people waiting to get in. I am not sure it's worth that kind of wait, but if you can get in, I would highly recommend you try it! We were told that this was the best dim sum in town and I have to agree! While nothing will really compare to the spots in Vancouver, I think this is pretty close. My favorite part of this place is the overall vibe - the crowd, the smells, the huge banquet hall- it takes me back to Asia. Food is ordered on an iPad and came out fairly quickly. Food was delicious and there was a lot to choose from. We had to look for a person to pay the bill but the service was ok overall for this kind of restaurant (I honestly don't expect much). Highly recommend for big family gatherings or festivities, or if you just want some dim sum. There apparently is even a second floor for events. So glad that Chinatown has this gem. read more

This place has been on my list for a while now since I've been seeing it over my TikTok. The place is super spacious and I love the open area. You order through a QR code or they give you a iPad to order on they have a wide select of food choices from dim sum to clay pots to regular dishes. We came here for the dim sum and everything was super good. It definitely that's super busy on the weekend as we waited for 10 minutes to get a table. My new favorite dim sum restaurant right now! You gotta get the essentials right...siu Mai, shrimp balls, tripe, sticky rice, and lo bak go, etc and this place hits! The sui mais and shrimp balls have this yummy sesame flavor that's different than the other dim sum restaurants. Most of the food comes out hot. Their dinner menu is also really delicious. Okay, so it's actually good. I mean, having been to lots of places that serve these wonderful Chinese delights, Dim Sum is easily good, and also easily messed up. Some places taste of frozen, made a long time ago. This place feels like they make it here, hot and tasty. So this place feels very Vancouver, the presentation, and people, and service... also the use of the app/tablet on the table, so you can see what you are ordering, with pictures. The place, during lunch and dinner... packed. Lots of people, expect a wait. We had reservations, honestly not sure they took them, somehow my mom made it happen. The ambiance of the place is energetic, food comes as it becomes ready, and the kitchen feels like it keeps up. Diamond Bay is the phoenix that has arisen from the ashes of House of Hong, and I am here for it. Not sure how I feel about the dim sum yet, but the seafood is killer. We had a whole king crab (steamed with garlic), and the crab glass noodles; steamed spot prawns; uni with tofu custard; pea vines; sticky rice with roast pork; morels stuffed with crab; a massive bo lo bao for the table to share; and egg tarts. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was pretty good, too (don't let that deter you; I know the real ones think a certain brusqueness evinces cultural authenticity, but it's nice to have someone change out your plate/dump the piles of shells as needed). Review is for Chinese Banquet. Diamond Bay in Seattle Chinatown takes over the former location of House of Hong, which was popular many decades ago during my student days. The new restaurant combines formal banquet hall with upstairs VIP rooms, dim sum in the main downstairs dining room, and a Chinese BBQ takeout. I booked a VIP room for Dad's birthday. Huge private room with capacity to fit 22 around a huge table. The Lazy Susan is controlled by remote at variable speeds and directions, so no issue getting food. They also have TV and Karaoke. The food overall is good, with only a few dishes good but not excellent. The amazing thing is that the original chef who catered my own wedding banquet also continues to consult at Diamond Bay. Favorite Items * Roasted Suckling Pig is one of their signature items and is a fine substitute for Peking Duck with crispy, fatty skin. The presentation is over the top with red, glowing eyes. * Tomahawk Steak prepared like a Beef Wellington is another fan favorite. So soft and tender. * Whole Steamed Fish with Ginger Scallion Soy Sauce was cooked perfectly. Two ginormous fish fed 22 people easily. Least Favorites * Smoked Salmon Fried Rice is a clever idea, being in the Pacific Northwest but was a bit too salty. Service was great, and they even comped us some desserts to end the meal: Sweet Lotus Buns, Red Bean Tapioca Soup, and Steamed Cake. Dad and guests had an awesome dinner. 5 stars. I know they have been open for a bit more than a year in the old House of Hong location, but we kept hearing how packed they were so we've only just tried them this past holiday season. We booked one of their private rooms upstairs for a multi-family Dim Sum feast between Christmas and New Years. All the dishes we ordered were exceptionally good including the chicken feet, hagao, sumai, pork ribs,roast duck, chive dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, radish cakes, egg custard black buns and more. Of course we also got their famous giant pineapple bao. This was super delicious. Very cake-like with a nice light whipped cream filling. They take your order via a slip of paper that you fill out with how many of what dish you want. There were 16 of us, of all ages so this worked well to pass around the table and the parents could check-off what age family liked best. The restaurant was absolutely jam-packed but after about a 15 minute delay, food was coming out pretty quickly came out fairly quickly. Everything was very delicious as well some of the best in some we've had. I normally post lots of food pictures but this time there was too many family members in the way, so I only have one photo. As others have noted service for refills of things like hot water and drinking water was a bit spotty and slow even though we had our own private room. We think it's because the place was simply so packed. We would certainly go back again. End a note they do have free parking available. A small lot right next to the restaurant. Another solid dim sum house to punctuate the Seattle food scene. This one rivals some of the best in Vancouver/Richmond. Classic dim sum dishes like haw gao, siu mai, don tot - Portuguese style - are tasty, fresh and done well, but they also have some unique stand outs like the salted egg yolk lava bun. The outside looks non descript in a sketch area of the International District but you will be amazed at the giant glittering bustling hall once you walk in. Polite, fast no nonsense Canto service fits the bill. Filled with Canto/Toi-san elders so you know it's good. Don't drive 2.5 hours north - save gas and eat local! read more

Finally a solid dim sum spot in Seattle. Long line but we had a big party so were seated within 30 minutes. Shrimp rice rolls were probably the best I've had in Seattle. Beef chow fun had good wok hei. The garlic pea vines were one of the best we've had as well. Shrimp ball, shu mai, egg tarts, all the standards were good. We also liked the shrimp egg rolls. My first experience of real dim sum. Loved it! The place was run so efficiently. The food came out quick and it was all so good. My favorite was the snow pea greens. I couldn't stop eating them. I wish I knew what they cooked those in but man, they were amazing! My second favorite was the sesame ball for dessert. I've had a pre-packaged one before and hated it so I wasn't super excited to try what my friend ordered, but it turned out so good. A super solid dimsum choice in Seattle. Our party went on a Saturday morning about 30 min - 1 hour after opening and ended up waiting about 15 minutes. The prices were comparable to other locations and the food overall tasted clean. The donut in particular was great and and was nearly 2 feet long?! We had a Alaskan King Crab 4 ways + Lobster noodles + 4 BBQ items appetizer + vegetable dishes. The atmosphere is the best I've seen in Seattle. Very spacious, updated, bright, and clean. Definitely a great location for large banquets. They also have many private rooms upstairs. There's also parking with attendance which makes eating at this restaurant in Seattle China town much easier without having to hunt for parking. The first course was the 4 BBQ items appetizers. We ordered BBQ pork, roast pork, roast duck, marinated beef, & jellyfish. All the items were between good to reasonable. Jellyfish had the right crunchy texture. One area of improvement is that the BBQ items were cold. Mostly fine except for the roast pork. Skin was crunchy but the fatty layer was too cold..... 2nd course was Alaskan King Crab cooked in a salt and pepper batter. It was very tasty and my favorite dish for the meal. 3rd course was the steamed Alaskan King Crab legs. This is when things started to go downhill unfortunately. This was served very quickly after the 2nd course and the crab legs were overcooked. The meat was on the tougher side and the glass noodles underneath was on the softer side. 4th course was lobster noodles and it was average. Not bad but also not great.... This course was served shortly after the 3rd course. 5th course was Steamed Alaskan King Crab Roe with eggs and Chinese donut. It as also served shortly after the 3rd and 4th course. According to the server, this was made with half of the roe. The dish itself was way over cooked so everything was quite firm..... 6th course fried rice with 1/2 of the Alaskan King Crab roe. Dish was tasty but I would have preferred to have this dish made with all the roe and skip the 5th course. 7th and 8th course were the 2 vegetable dishes we ordered. They were both good. On the service, the servers were nice but not at the level for such an expensive meal. There was no proactive monitoring of our table. For example, there was no attempt to switch out the dishes where we had lots of shells. I had to ask for that. Refilled of hot water in our tea pots was done only when we asked. At the end of the meal, while someone started helped up packed the leftover, that person quickly disappeared when we got involved to help her..... All-in-all, this is probably one of better Chinese restaurant in Seattle Chinatown. It is probably a great choice for most meals. However, I am disappointed with how they handle a high end seafood meal in terms quality of some of the dishes and service level. read more

Lately, there has been a lot of new dim sum spots that try to capture that same ambiance and quality in food that you would find up in Richmond, Vancouver BC, Canada. And I have to say, that this restaurant is the closest thing Seattle has to that level of dim sum. Lucky for me, I was able to try this out on New Year day and it was a very good experience for my family and I. The hype has died down a bit, but we still waited outside 10 minutes before opening and I was impressed to see a reasonable crowd still. The restaurant didn't fill all the tables when the door first opened, but it definitely fill a good amount of the restaurant. The inside was reasonably big, but still nothing like the restaurants in Richmond. There was a good amount of service workers managing the front, so there was a good amount of people to assist if you needed anything. The dim sum menu offered the expected selections and definitely had a selection of special items and "high end" items to choose from. The truffle siu mai is a bit of an expected item nowadays for restaurants like this and having a black salted yolk lava bun on the menu is a must as well to be considered one of the fancier dim sum restaurants. I'm shocked at how big the egg tarts are though. Love the flakiness of the crust, but I would've preferred smaller tarts in 4s rather than 3 large ones per order. We got a lot of staples that were done quite well like the shrimp dumplings, gluttonous sticky rice, and pan-fried radish cake. Unfortunately, we also got some not so well done items like the undercooked tripe and the soup-less soup dumplings. Hard to meet the demands of the large number of customers, especially being fairly new still, but it'll improve over time I'm sure. And honestly, I don't know what people were complaining about with the price. For what we had, the price was very much reasonable. Able to fill up a table of 8 for under $200. That's pretty good in my opinion. We had a variety of items too so nothing to complain about here. The dim sum is worth the price still despite 1 or 2 hiccups. Would definitely go back. May even be my number dim sum spot in Seattle, but don't let me sway you. Try it out for yourself and see if it's just as good as I have called it. read more

Came here as a guest for a larger group event in the evening so there was a fixed menu, and I didn't personally order any items. There's a very small lot out front, but you might have to park on the street instead. The dishes that were served were pretty tasty, like the chicken with ginger scallion sauce, roast duck with steamed buns, and lobster noodles. The waiters were really good with bringing out each dish promptly. I'd be interested in coming earlier in the day to try out the dim sum. It's rare to find restrooms in the US where the stalls don't have huge gaps between (and above and below) the doors, but this one has full doors! read more

This place was great! It was super busy with locals from china town. It had a beautiful dining hall with bright lighting and pretty table cloths. Food was great! We ordered multiple dim sum. The soup dumplings were awesome and the bbq pork was sweet and savory. The only issue I had was that they charged us for 4 teas when we only ordered 2. I didn't catch it until I got to the car and reviewed the receipt. But honestly they were so crazy busy that it would be easy to make a human error like that. I came in with low expectations because most dim sum places have been lacking in quality but this place surpassed my expectations. before they were even open at 10am, there was already a line outside waiting. this told me the food had to be good and I was right. the rice noodle was so fresh and not too sticky, this meant that they made it in house and steamed it to the perfect time. we also ordered the fried crispy crab ball, egg tart, pineapple bun, siu mai, spare ribs and chicken feet. everything we ordered was up to par. It is very hard to write a review for this place. Having had dim sum in many different places including Hong Kong I would like to say I have had a wide range of good and not so good dim sum. What makes this place really hard is the food has glimpses of really good dim sum. The salted egg yolk buns, salted egg yolk sesame, and the medicinal chicken feet were so good! Even the bean tips were made really really well. The service was definitely very cantonese dim sum in the sense... its not good lol. This place you walk in and you are like well this must be modeled after the Hong Kong dim sum places. But then it falls apart. The congee was just ok. The fried doughnuts felt soggy at best. The char siu was dry and lacked flavor. And these are the staples of dim sum. You can't mess these dishes up if you want to be rated highly. And so it's with a heavy heart I can only give a 3star. If you are in the area do come try it out there are hints of greatness here. read more

Typical dim sum spot with big round tables and lazy suzans. Restaurant is actually super warm by the stage, heater was blasting toward us. Food was tasty but I wasn't impressed. Shu Mai was huge but a bit dry, it needed more shrimp. On the other hand, the Har Gao and Rice Rolls were generously filled with shrimp! Staff primarily speaks Cantonese, not the best service. You order with a pen and paper menu, we had to wait around for a pen after getting seated. Some food orders got forgotten or mistaken. A decent dim sum spot in seattle. The actual dim sum was pretty good, especially the salted egg buns that were gooey on the inside. The har gow and other rice wrapped dumplings though had just too thick of a wrapper though. I highly recommend the pan fried chive dumplings since those had super thin wrappers that were fried to a crisp on the edges. My boyfriend and I thought we'd found a new go-to spot for dim sum--the food was decent enough to give us hope. We had dined in and ordered take-out on a few occasions. On our last take-out order, we discovered after we got home that four items were missing: a hot and sour soup, vegetables, and a couple of dim sum dishes. We called the restaurant immediately, provided every bit of information they asked for, and requested a refund since we had no intention of driving all the way back to Chinatown for their error. The person on the phone admitted the mistake and assured us we'd receive a refund. A full week passed--of course, no refund. When my boyfriend called again, they suddenly claimed they had no record of our call or our refund request. The way the restaurant handled their own mistake was nothing short of egregious--and it should go without saying that we won't be returning. They can consider the missing $40 a generous parting gift. read more

This place has the best Cantonese dim sum and traditional Cantonese seafood dishes. It usually hasa long line on weekends, so my friend and I usually pick weekdays to stop by. However, we still waited for around 15 minutes on a Thursday afternoon. All dim sum items are priced between $6.95 and $11, which is very reasonable. My favorite is their beef balls, which are very tender--hard to find at other places. The pork and preserved egg congee， fried shrimp ball， chicken feet, egg yolk buns and purple rice sesame balls--every dish we ordered was delicious, and I would highly recommend them. They also have some seasonal specials, like lobster or traditional sticky rice, which may be relatively more expensive. read more

Quick and fast service and got seated. They gave us a check off menu where you choose the food you want and mark it off on the menu. Sadly, there is no push carts but this is a nice way to serve off as well. We ordered the most common dishes that most people would order to eat and overall, all the dishes were pretty flavorful and tasty. Besides, one dish which was the Siu Mai. The flavors are all there but the main thing was the pork itself because it's very easy to fall apart which was disappointing. Overall, flavor is . Service is great. Sweet, friendly, aunties breaks the ice and talk to you. Super friendly! All the dishes are good. Flavors are on point. Siu Mai was a bit disappointment due to the pork was very easy to break apart.
