When it comes to rooftop bars, Phoenix is pretty limited on this type of scene. I started hearing about From The Rooftop through social media and decided to give this place a try. I will say that the vibe is very chill and I like that there's plenty of seating for guests. The views is also pretty neat considering it's in downtown. The only thing that they could improve on is their cocktails. It's a pretty steep price for a drink that doesn't taste all that great. One could settle for a beer or white claw. If they were to hire an outstanding mixologist then this could potentially become the top bar in Phoenix to hang out at. read more

Went to this restaurant for a girls night and was not impressed. The food took over an hour to come out because the kitchen was extremely backed up. We almost considered leaving and eating somewhere else. When our food finally arrived it lacked flavor and was not worth the price. The cocktails were also disappointing and weak. Went here last night for my girlfriends birthday because a friend recommended it because of the view. Unfortunately they didn't tell me about the poor food quality, horrible service and lack clarity around the whole rooftop. 1 star only for the view nothing else. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!! So we asked for a plain cheese quesadilla .. because how can you mess that up??? Well someone did! This had black bean and jalapeño in them.... After we just sent something back for for being to spicy. NO attention to detail here or just basic care for quality. Service- 0/10 no host to seat or even a sign saying it's open seating. We sat down and waited 5 min before i got up to get a server. We were brought 1 water cup each and never asked if we wanted more the whole hour we were there. We finally order and wait for who knows how long for my food to came out .. waited 5 min and had to go track down our server to see when the tacos would have been out then another 3 min before it came out. She never checked on us and I had to get up and go to her 4 time because she didn't come to us. I had to walk up to her to order a shot because she drop food and walk away instantly. The only thing she was on top of was bring the check. I'm sure she was annoyed of me but guess what if you would just do your job you wouldn't have to be annoyed of me. She did not deserve a tip but I'm not a bad person so she still got something but she deserved $0 from me. Don't wait you time calling nobody answer and voice mail is full. The entire experience felt like there was no manager running the show. I wish i would have gotten a name. Great views from the heart of Phoenix. We stopped in here for a drink and to watch the sunset. It is a bit tricky to find this place as you have to enter the hotel lobby then take the elevator and push R. See the photo of my beautiful wife at the painting across from the elevator. Our bartender was great. She said they have new ownership and are expecting to have an appetizer menu soon. She knew her stuff and was very friendly. My wife got the Shout it Out. She really enjoyed it. You could probably drink a warm PBR with these views and be content. There is tons of seating and even a pool and umbrellas. We found a comfy couch. For whatever reason they do not face the sunset but no big deal. The lighting was fantastic. You can walk around the whole rooftop to get great views of the city. Close bathroom that was sparkling clean. There is a restaurant below nearing completion. Looked nice and we would have eaten there if it was open. So, today was my birthday! And From The Rooftop totally killed the vibe... Like deaded it. Yes, the view is amazing and the food was good, they did not provide a social atmosphere that provided a sense of luxury, freedom, and fun, which is the most important of a dining experience. I mean honestly, everything was cool until it was time to pay. That's when all hell broke loose... So, we we're getting our cards out, getting ready to pay, when the waitress Alejandra, brought the check out and put everything on one check. My friend let her know that we'd like separate checks, because we're paying individually (it was 4 of us). Simple request, right? Alejandra then rudely told my friend that she couldn't because something was wrong with the system or something like that... My friend then asked, well why didn't you tell us this to begin with..? A reasonable question to ask, what? When we go to McDonald's, they have signs letting us know that it's card only or cash only and they let us know again when we reach the window. So, why weren't we notified. Alejandra then got an attitude, rolled her eyes, and asked if we wanted to talk to the manager. My friend said yes. So, the manager comes in defense mode (because Alejandra told her that we were mad, which we weren't... We just asked to split the check and a simple question), explaining the issue with the payment system. My friend was like okay, that's understandable, but you guys didn't have a sign or let anyone know or anything beforehand (which they didn't). We weren't given to opportunity to leave if we wanted to due to the payment issue. My friend went on to state how big of an inconvenience this was because she was paying with her business card. My friend then asked if the system for those sitting at tables was the same for those sitting at the bar... She then asked if they could just ring us up at the bar. The manager made up some crap excuse on why they couldn't do that, but through all of her rambling that didn't make sense (which was about 5 mins) she slipped and said that we could split the bill and pay individually at the bar but it'd take 20 mins to process. My friend then asked, "well why didn't you just say that to begin with instead of trying to argue with me when all we were trying to do was split the check to begin with, which you had the ability to do?!" So, the manager finally gave the waitress permission to split the check. But, she did it wrong... So, we had to wait even longer for her to correct it. FINALLY we all have our checks, and are ready to pay, but instead of Alejandra handing the mini clipboard into my friend's hand, she threw it, literally THREW it on the table and walked off! At this point, my friends and I are pissed. Like WTF My friend walks towards Alejandra to confront her and she threatens to call security on us!!! So, my friend goes back to where the manager was standing and was like yo, your waitress is buggin (my words), we're trying to pay and she threw the clipboard on the table!!! The manager is like oh, well I'd have to rewind the tapes to see if she did that or not... --___-- She didn't apologize, try to rectify the situation, or nothing... So, my friends and I are mind blown at this point! We can't believe what's happening! All of this because we asked to split the check...? Okay... This time around, they send us another waitress, Rachelle. And Rachelle was just a breath of fresh air, we joked and asked her why she didn't wait us to begin with, she explained she just had clocked in. We let her know about everything that happened and she listened, listen to listen and not respond like the so called manager and she apologized for everything that happened. She did what the fckin manager was supposed to do! Honestly, if Rachelle didn't come when she did, the outcome would've came out worse then it did. My friends and I honestly feel like because we're black and trying to correct an issue, we were automatically labeled as the "Angry Black Wom(e)n," and all we wanted was to split the check. There was no attitude or anything on our end, so we're confused to how all of this all came into fruition. The waitress Alejandra was rude AF and the manager was disregarding and absolutely no help! This experience took away from this beautiful rooftop view and the food. AND my birthday celebration!!! Seated and not noticed by wait staff for 30 minutes even though we attempted to wave them down several times. Waited another 20 minutes for the worst humus I've ever eaten. Ordered $6 well drinks and were over charged $12 for each drink. When this was brought to the managers attention she was extremely rude. The piano man was awesome and the ambiance was nice. I had high expectations for this place. For starters, you can't tell who works here since staff is wearing casual clothes. One girl was wearing what appeared to be gym clothes. We struggled for about 10 minutes to find seating and had to set up our own umbrella. After struggling and earning ourselves a solid sweat, we waited another 15 minutes to be greeted. How disappointing. Our friend was celebrating a birthday. We called ahead to make reservations for about 20 on a Monday night. We were told reservations weren't needed as it would be a slower night. The celebration night approaches and it's apparent the staff on shift had no idea we were coming. They were visibly annoyed we were there. The manager couldn't be bothered to speak with us. Our server was rude and MIA for most of the night. Since she couldn't be found, we would try to go to the bar for more drinks. There were two people behind the bar and I kid you not, the one literally leaned back by her POS register trying to ignore us, until finally, the other bartender came by to take our order. Mind you-- in the few hours we were there MAYBE 3 other parties arrived with no more than 4 people in their group. So this wasn't a case of it being busy. The food? Not worth it. I ordered the chicken tacos. Zero taste and the chicken had a texture like it had been microwaved, plus it was cold. And after all of that, they cut the music off around 8:30. I ask if they are closing early (their site clearly shows they are open until 10pm) and if not, could they please turn the music back on. The response I get is "No, but last call is 9:15." Wow. Just so rude. Postive? Great rooftop views. But then again, there are other rooftop places in Phoenix that I'm sure are happier to serve you. I'd say skip this one. read more

The view from the rooftop is beautiful, especially during the gorgeous Arizona sunset. However, that's about the only quality thing about this restaurant bar. The drinks are pricey and super watered down. I tried three different cocktails in hopes that I would find one I liked, but each of them was worse than the previous one. The Floor is Guava tasted like incredibly spicy jalapeño water in ice (did they use any alcohol?), the Sunrise Spritz was underwhelming and truly tasted like seltzer in ice, and the Prickly Pear Margarita was INCONSISTENT. I wish I were making this up, but three of us ordered the prickly pear margarita and we got three glasses with different colors of pink and varying flavors of alcohol and sweetness. The food was as basic as it gets... starchy, dry fries and very flavorless burger patties. The service wasn't very good. All in all, I regret spending money here because I feel like there are dozens of better rooftop bars out there. I would recommend you go elsewhere. read more

I visited the Diablo Rooftop Bar as a resident of it's host hotel, The Cambria, to have drinks and get a bite to eat. I rushed upstairs and arrived at 10:29pm since it is published that the kitchen closes at 11pm. After security checked me in, the host with a menu in her hand, stated that the kitchen was closed. When I brought up the fact that their published signs and digital resources state that the kitchen closes at 11pm, she retaliated in a stern fashion that the kitchen closes at 10:30 on Sundays to deep clean. The signs downstairs, on the elevator, and at their entrance door all state that Sunday thru Thursday the kitchen closes at 11pm. It was a little light with patrons this evening. I feel they just shut down early because of that reason, but if you do close the kitchen at 10:30 then it should be posted, especially since visitors depend on accurate information to determine their Itenerary. read more

What a terrible experience. Cambria should be embarrassed to have this restaurant on their property. Was very excited to try out this restaurant for a friends going away party on 4/7/22 around 6pm. The hostess was lovely, only attentive employee there. We were sat and not addressed for almost 30minutes (happy hour is until 7pm and we were hoping to get at least a cocktail or two before the end). The hostess approached our table twice to see if we have been helped yet, even though there was an apparent server in the section helping the tables behind us and in front of us. Finally after 30minutes, the manager (dirty blonde hair in a bun) came over with an attitude to take our drink order. We finally ordered drinks and asked the manager about the menu since there were some typos - Tacos de Pollo gf 14 (3), corn tortillas, chicken, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, lime and sour cream add chicken $6 add steak $6 Do the tacos come with chicken, or is it $6 to add chicken? She clarified the typo and then told us what they were out of on the menu, which was pretty much the entire menu. She then took away the menus without even taking our order!! We then sat for another 30minutes waiting for our first drink. I spoke up to the gentleman who was serving the tables in front of us and behind us to see if he was our server and he said no, which wouldn't make sense to have a one table section where the tables are lined up along side the pool and the ledge of the rooftop. We then told him we ordered drinks awhile ago and he apologized and brought the warm watered down drinks to us. As we were drinking the terrible drinks, we looked at the menu on our phones to see what we would like to eat since the manager took our original menus without taking our order. We sat for another hour hoping someone would stop by to take our order. We once again flagged down the server who was serving the row of tables to take our order. Since the long wait, we decided to order our second drink with him. I asked for a bottle of Chardonnay for the table and he stated the only wine they have is Pinot Grigio and the majority of the drinks on the menu they do not have and gave us a big eye roll. So we all proceeded to order the same drink from the first round. Luckily, we got the second round of drinks a little quicker, in a swift 25mins. Again, the drinks were warm and watered down and this time, it was a mystery of what we got. The drinks looked completely different and we asked the gal who brought our drinks if they what we asked for and she said yes. Finally the food order was put in, we had full drinks and we were content for a bit. As time passed, 45mins went by and we asked the server about the food, he stated it will be out shortly. Now 1hour 20minutes have gone by, once again asked the server about the food and we got an eye roll and a "it will be out shortly". I'm a big gin guy, and noticed the only two choices were Plymouth and Hendricks, arguably the best mass-produced options out there. But while you can't go wrong with basic choices, the cocktails most certainly leave a lot to be desired. I tried the Blue Gin cocktail, which is heavy on botanicals, and it...was not mixed well. Tasted diluted and astringent, and was less enjoyable than indulging in a simple G&T. Recipe had good ideas, but it's certainly missing something. Stick to what's simple, and you won't be disappointed. Overall, FTR leans heavily on its style points, and it's certainly paying off--anyone who's come here with me is instantly enamored. Fabulous hotel in the heart of Phoenix but without so much of the chaos. It's off the side but one street away from First Friday meaning there's a lot of art and culture to be had inside and out. I went to the rooftop after work one night and I was stunned by the views and the gorgeous sunset I had a front row seat to. It's definitely a place to visit "for the gram". The bar is lovely, the pool will be in full swing by July, and the rooms are beautiful. If I didn't live 5 minutes away I'd stay here for downtown events! read more

Great view and decent prices but the service was so abysmal that as we left, my friend asked me to post a review warning others. We were seated but with Happy Hour menus. When we asked for them, our waitress told us to look them up online but we hunted and couldn't find them. I had to physically go and track down someone to find them because they only have a few printed out (which is crazy as they just are a piece of paper front and back). As we are eating and drinking, we were constantly interrupted by a female asking to take our menus, then a single glass off our table, and then our food plates even though we REPEATEDLY told them we were still eating and to please leave them. Unlike other reviews, the staff seated me and put my order in quickly. That's really the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. I would skip both the black bean burger and the cocktail I ordered. Nothing to write home about. The view is pretty good, but you can't walk all the way around it so the best part of the sunset is blocked off. Incredible spot to watch the sunset reflect off the ever growing Downtown Phoenix Cityscape. Met some friends for a Friday happy hour. I was instantly blown away by the view. Our server Carolina did a nice job getting around to all of us with a steady pace. The drinks are incredibly well made with a nice wine selection. In other words the options are decent for the adult beverage of your choice. I didn't have the opportunity to taste anything off the menu since it was all about just hanging out. Not a bad mix of people from locals to several folks from abroad. The patio did need some more heaters because of its supersizing size do to the chilly night air. I do recommend it as an amazing spot to start your night out with friends or that special someone. I can imagine the pool is a blast during the warm months. The do have valet or just catch an Uber. Been going here for years, recently they did some adjusting to seating its fells overcrowded where you first walk in and at the bar they need to rearrange was a more relax chill vibe now it's like take seat order and get out vibe, this place dose have the best views of downtown and the Valley but you can enjoy or walk around and mingle cause it more of a restaurant style now. Love this place! We waited here and had drinks while we waited for Breakfast bitch downstairs. Our server was super nice and it was a really fun and well spaced (covid friendly) atmosphere! First time visit. We were staying at the Cambria (which is the hotel this restaurant is at) and they gave us some drink vouchers so we went up there to have something to eat. It's about 5 pm and only about 4 other tables being served at the time we get there, and there were at least 3 servers working at the time, and a bartender. Once we get seated, one server approached us and said she'd bring us water. While the servers were hanging out at the bar area less than 20 feet away, 5 minutes had passed until another server came to us and asked how we were doing, and then offered to bring us water. This server was very short, and not quite accommodating at all. After we get our first round of drinks, which were not good at all, they brought our appetizer and told us the burger we ordered would be without fries because the manager was working on it. She did not say how long the fries would be, even though we saw other patrons get fries within the time we were there. She attempted to compensate us and say they wouldn't charge the full amount for the burger and fries. As we're eating, it's been about 30-45 minutes we've been seated, on a rooftop bar, 5 pm, in July, in Phoenix Arizona. In this entire time, we were not offered 1 refill of water. This is my main reason for this post. When we arrived, every other table had a vase/jug of ice water at their table, so they could refill whenever they'd like. Every new guest who had arrived, also received a vase/jug of ice water. Except 1 other table, who were a white male, and a more brown skinned lady. All of the other tables who had these jugs of ice water at their table were clearly white/Caucasian. My fiancé is Mexican, but very much on the lighter skinned side. For myself I am middle eastern/Native American and obviously more dark skinned than every one else there. And obviously, we did not have a jug/ice of water or even refills this entire hour, minimum, we were there. Unless this is the most unreal coincidence I've experienced, I felt like I was obviously being less catered too than the rest of the guests there. I'm not going to try to label this place as "racist" because I've literally only been here once, and will never go again. Once the server brought our bill, it was not even itemized, which seemed weird because I did some simple math and realized this was a full bill, not even the "fries" were taken off. I ask for the manager, first ask for a itemized receipt, then explain to her about the lack of water/vase ordeal. And she had nothing to say, only that she was going to take care of the $5 for the fries we did not receive, which means there was only a sorry from this establishment. I waited a day to post this, and I am still in shock, and frustrated about the whole situation. First time ever leaving a review, I apologize if it's extremely long. This is a really popular spot amongst Phoenix locals. It sits atop a hotel, and if you didn't already know about it you'd probably miss it. Once you get upstairs, though, you're enveloped in the party. They play great music, have a small wading pool for hot days, and have pretty reasonably priced drinks considering it's a kind of pretentious place. What I love about From the Rooftop is that in a post COVID-19 world, it feels really normal. There's a good crowd all intermingling without a care. You aren't corralled off into weird sections, unable to converse with whatever party is next to you. It's very hip and happening. I think they get a little busier than they are able to handle, though, as the line for the bar gets quite long. There should be two bars to combat this. No one likes waiting in line for 10-15 minutes just to get a drink. read more
