This was so SO good. Not sure what they do to the ice cream and the toppings. I got a small sundae with a scoop of cookies and cream and a scoop of vanilla. It comes with one topping and your choice of nuts, but I went with both nuts (almonds and walnuts). SO. GOOD. Is it the way the prepare the nuts or what, but ice cream and nuts are always a good combination. Texture was really creamy and then some substance from the nuts, just magically delicious. Dewar's is one of Bakersfield's best and as soon as they put in that drive-thru, I just knew this was gonna be perfect! I'm always on the go and I'm always craving Dewar's so I'm all set. This is probably the closest Dewar's near my home, but amazingly it's not the one we visit the most. I find myself on the other side of town at their bigger location, this location is located in a nice area and the drive-thru just makes this place super convenient. All the ice cream at every location is the same and I never have any inconsistency with any of the location, so if you're making your way to this side of town then you should check out the drive-thru for one of my favorite ice cream places in Bakersfield. Service is fast and workers at the window are super friendly. read more

Started out great now the product and service is at the bottom. Charge what you want but deliver great service and product. Super sad tonight. They over charged me and only filled up two of the red and whites half way. Missing half of my order. The person who took the order wasn't friendly or helpful. Being forced to tip at a drive through on top of it all was just sad. I'll pay any dollar amount for good service and product. Honestly, why we settle for bad service as a community is disappointing. The drive trough line is always long especially when it rains.. for some reason everyone in Bakersfield craves ice cream when it rains but anyways the workers are so fast! The line can be across the parking lot and you'd be out within 10-15 minutes. The staff are always really helpful and nice. Dewar's is THE ice cream place of Bakersfield, and it's much needed in the typical 100-degree summer. The staff was extremely nice and gave super generous scoops of ice cream. I got a scoop cookie dough ice cream in a sugar cone, and compared to LA's gourmet ice cream, that's like 2 scoops for a cheaper price. When I walked to the outdoor seating area, my ice cream started melting under the heat right away. My friend had to walk back in the shop to grab a few more napkins. Personally, I was a bit underwhelmed when I visited this shop - the "Express" shop - because it looked like a normal brick-and-mortar ice cream store. As a tourist, I was missing out on the true Dewar's ice cream parlor and candy store experience. Just check out the photos of the other Dewar's locations and you'll see why. This location rocks, but you gotta make sure you visit the other shop at least once. read more

I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!!! At least, definitely Dewars Ice Cream. This Express location features a spacious indoor and outdoor seating area that is always clean (which is impressive because ice cream tends to get everywhere), and a drive through for those on the go! Everything is served in more than generous portions, and the ice creams and sherbets I have tried are seriously on point in terms of flavor. My favorite things to get are the Mint Chip (pink due to the use of peppermint chunks in this deliciously cool treat) with crushed almond on the top. And if you are here, you HAVE to try the ice cream specials. I could not recommend the Strawberry Banana Special enough, though the Red and White is a serious contender as well. The strawberry sauce and ice cream comes off as sweet... but not too much so. For something more mellow- you want to go with the Strawberry Banana Special: the banana will mellow it out. For something a bit more sweet, go with the Red and White: strawberries and cream with marshmallow sauce on top? YAS! The best thing about these two specials is that they come in this giant Styrofoam cup with crushed nuts. If you are not allergic to nuts, you have to have this on the top. The nuts seriously add so much to the specials and add to the deliciousness of the whole thing. Unfortunately, no pictures from my most recent visit. The ice cream is usually good here but today it was bad. It melted so fast & it was nasty. The cup sizes shrunk too which sucks. To top it off they gave me a mountain of peanuts with my large sundae & they have never done that which I did not like. I get that they were busy and there were a few orders in front of me, but I could see them scoop an order which looks like it could be mine, get distracted and confused by their order tickets, and end up finishing the orders for two different people that had ordered AFTER me. Meanwhile the scoops that were my order had been sitting on the counter the whole time and by the time they came back to finish my order and hand it to me, I could tell the ice cream was already soft and melting. I was not impressed with this place my 1st time to this location. It is very busy and only one person on the register. Long line both in the drive way and inside. The place is very small and clean ehich is a plus but other than that not impressed. I usually go down to the one in downtown were the place is original, welcoming and one of a kind. Went to get some ice cream tonight since they close the drive-thru at 11pm. I called in advance to ask what time they close tonight and they said 11:00pm which was perfect. I got there at 10:01pm and a lady came outside to tell me at 10:04pm that the vehicle in front of us was the last vehicle they were going to help then left. I was so upset because I called in advance and I wasn't going to sit there and argue with them about the fact they still had an hour left until they closed. My family and I were really craving ice cream and so I called Creamistry to ask if they were open until 11:00pm and they said they are definitely open even if we walk in at 11:01pm they will still help us. I am so proud to call this place one of Bakersfield's finest. So many options to choose from. They have shakes, ice cream cookies, sundae's, banana splits, and many more. The possibilities are endless. They have down delicious toppings as well. My favorite being the marshmallow topping! Yum. I usually get a small sundae, it includes two scoops of ice cream and two toppings. I get two strawberry ice cream scoops and marshmallow with almonds on top. Their nuts are grinded finely and that makes all the difference. I always ask for an extra side of the almonds because I love dousing my ice cream in them. Another on of my favorites is the strawberry special. This is a shake made with strawberry ice cream, frozen strawberries, banana, and almonds. It's very thick and hard to drink so they do give you a spoon which comes in handy. This is my favorite item but it's kinda big and I never finish it, so definitely share it with someone. Ice cream drive thru? Yes please! It's been years since I've been to a Dewars. We only have been to the original one on Eye. We haven't tried Calloway or the Express one. We didn't feel like dining in, so we went with the express. Unfortunately, the only good thing about this place is the fact that it's conveniently drive thru. The line was long but no big deal. We weren't really sure how they were going to pack our ice creams since we remembered their servings being kind of big. We ordered, cotton candy, bubble gum, triple chocolate, and Rocky road with hot fudge, M&M's and Marshmallow topping. Their were 3 of us so that's the items between us. When we got them, we were shocked to see how tiny the cups are but I guess that's what you get when you want express. The marshmallow fluff took a quarter of my cup, so I had even less ice cream. But that didn't really matter because the ice cream did not taste good. There was no flavor! It just had an icy cereal milk taste to it. I didn't taste chocolate or Rocky road. It was surprisingly just a frozen milk flavor and that's it. The only thing I could taste was the marshmallow and even then that was just a sugary treat. Didn't really taste like marshmallow. My son said "sorry but I don't like it. It taste like frozen cereal milk". Which is exactly what I was thinking too. The 3 of us just tossed our cups and went to Rosemary's which was wayyyyy better. My friend also ordered a small latte and the guy gave him a cappuccino instead and you get this super tiny container of it. I mean, I get trying to give yourself a large margin of profit but not to the point you're ripping off your customers. Especially for ice cream that doesn't even taste good. Idk if they went cheaper with express but I'm hoping that wasn't the case for the location on eye street. Hopefully that places ice cream is still good quality of flavors. read more
