I made the trip here because I wanted to try the guava croissant, which was indeed excellent. It was more of a soft, bready style rather than a super flaky version. The guava jam was delicious and sweet. I also tried a standard latte, which was very good: nutty with some toasted marshmallow notes. There was a long line on a Saturday around 11, and tables were hard to come by, but if you get lucky you can snag one. It feels a bit crowded since the line forms between two rows of tables and customers also leave between two rows. So it's a nice place to sit for a while if you can, but maybe not the most comfortable environment to sit and work. It is a beautiful space, though. read more

Don't trust the hype. The line was *incredibly* long. For $13 you can get yourself one coffee and one latte that are overly acidic and made by incredibly unfriendly baristas. The location is packed with solo people who claim tables (meant for two) for themselves and their laptops and/or notebooks. When we were there, other tables were held by jackets with no guests to be found. They allow dogs, which is bad for folks with allergies (but accommodating for those with pets). I stumbled upon Devocion after walking around the Flatiron district. They source their coffee from Colombia. I ordered a latte - it was fresh, and had a really nice flavor. It was strong without being too intense. Their décor is sleek and elegant, creating an inviting atmosphere. The shop has some greenery, giving it a slightly tropical vibe. I believe there are a few locations around the city and in Brooklyn. This spot had some seating options. There are some pastries - I didn't really paid attention to their food offering. This place is heaven! I traveled to NYC every week for 15 weeks. No matter where my hotel was, I walked to Devocion for an Americano coffee and a Chocolate Pancita in the mornings. Friends at home are quite happy that I frequently bring their coffee home as gifts. Wonderful business, staff, and product! Since first finding Devocion in January, the lines have become longer. There are two Devoción locations within a short walk from each other in Flatiron/Nomad (on opposite sides of Madison Square Park), and I visited both in a day this past weekend. This location on E 20th St near Broadway is the much larger location. It had lots of seating (although almost all of it was taken at 9am on a Sunday morning) and fast service. The coffee is great. Devoción has partners in Colombia, dry-mills the coffee at a facility in Bogotá, and roasts the coffee in Brooklyn. You're guaranteed some freshly roasted coffee beans for sure. We ordered two cappuccinos - one extra dry and one regular, and two that were virtually indistinguishable, but I enjoyed my not extra cappuccino because the coffee is so good. The cafe is beautiful, the coffee is freshly roasted and responsibly sourced and well-made, and it's at least possible to get a seat here. That makes it a pretty great coffeeshop in my book. read more

I popped in thinking I'd get a coffee and a pastry and leave but I ended up spending a little more time than I anticipated. The actual food/drink prep didn't take long, but because this spot was so well designed, I couldn't resist staying. was on a hunt for a coffee shop with ample seating and found devocion - this gorgeous spot had tons of tables and couches in a dark wood almost Victorian feeling environment - their was a line but it moved quickly and I had a delicious drink in no time - I got an americano for (4.50) with a splash of almond milk. The PERFECT place to work from with the most awesome hot chocolate and double chocolate chip cookie. This place is stunning but also comfy. Greenery hangs from the walls making it almost tranquil even though it's fairly loud with the bustling of young professionals. The person who helped me at the counter was amazing. Sensing I was coming in to work they asked if I needed WiFi. This is important because you need your receipt to log in to their network. Your receipt will have a code which allows access. Went this morning and it was really crowded at 9 am with a lot of people on their laptops. It was hard to find a table so we had to sit on two seats in the communal area. Came here early on a Saturday morning and managed to pass by the storefront twice because it was so small and of nearby construction obscuring it. Inside, the decor is dark and chic, and there's quite a bit of seating, though it was all full. The wait for ordering as well as for the drink was short. I got the Papaya Soursop, Gooseberry, Andean Lime and Lemon Verbena Aromatica. It was piping hot and fragrant, which was a nice pick-me-up for the cold morning. It didn't particularly wow me -- the flavors were not that distinct and just tasted generally fruity and floral. My go-to coffee shop in NYC when I crave "quality" coffee. I am a black coffee drinker - pour-over, cold brew, or occasional Americano. Devoción always has the freshest beans that I can taste difference. Their green-to-cup timeline is as little as 10 days and average 30 days. I bought my bag of coffee on Dec 14 which left the origin on Nov 20 and got roasted on Dec 11. This bag was their holiday blend, so their usual Toro or Wild Forest bags seem to be more recently procured. I highly recommend Devocion for any coffee enthusiast and visitor of NYC to take this signature souvenir home as I believe they have the freshest coffee beans across the states. read more

They were sold out the first two times, and I was determined to try their notorious guava cheese croissant that I waited a few hours at the cafe until they made a new batch. I tried the fresh outta oven guava cheese croissant, and the filling was still very hot. I would say, it may taste better to wait a bit and let the croissant filling cool down before trying. Overall, I liked the croissant, it was pretty flaky, however I didn't really like the filling as it was a bit too sweet for my liking. Compare to all the other croissant places I've been in nyc, I would give this a 7/10. It would be a 10/10 if It had less filling. Their chocolate croissant is really good tho! Highly recommend! Mocha looks good but tastes horrible. I didn't taste any of the chocolate in it and the whole thing tasted like almond milk. When I went asked the barista about the taste, he was very annoyed and brushed me away so I don't ask for a remake. He said that's how their coffee tastes like. Whatever! It wasn't worth the price. It's unfortunate that this is a specialty coffee yet they don't even make a good mocha. I should have went to nearby places. The vibes are good otherwise and it's a nice place for meeting with friends. Another note, they don't have wifi on weekend and I wish I knew before standing in line and purchasing because I can't go anywhere else after that. Had to use my hot spot.
