Wow. What a wonderful little find on our way to check out some estate sales. The croissants? Incredible. Got the ham and cheese, the leak, and the white choc raspberry and only regret was not getting more. And the staff? Incredibly lovely and welcoming.

    Smaller and smaller Detours

They decreased the size of their pastries, here's a what an almond croissant looks like... almost the size of an egg.

Menu helps know what day to try a certain bread.

Open on 1/1/25. Wednesday. Stopped by to see what tickles my fancie and.... ended up getting chocolate croissant, Viennoise - Cream .... and sticky gooey bun. Ate the cream bun, so heavy, filled with fresh cream. Weighted a ton. Always love this store!

This might be Detour Bakery, but it is an intended destination from now on. My first visit came on a solid recommendation when looking for something delicious on a Friday morning full of tasks. I immediately loved the amount of parking and the hours on the window that indicated "730AM-ish to 1 PM-ish!" Warmly greeted by the staff, this southeast Denver authentic French bakery met my expectations and raised the bar. I had trouble deciding what to eat with all of the options prominently displayed and a room that smelled so darn good. Next time I will try the "Peach Thing" that was so appropriately named and looked spectacular. Indoor and outdoor seating, elected inside on a rainy morning. Their loaves of bread & baguettes are inviting (next time), and the open space kitchen yields excellent looks at what is being prepared. I tried an outstanding turkey croissant sandwich, added a fantastic luscious chocolate croissant, and sampled my partner's sticky bun decision (wise one). Plus, they offer soft drinks, which is excellent for those who aren't sparkling water or coffee drinkers.

This is small and cute bakery tucked in an assuming neighborhood. Everything smelled so fresh and tasted good! The service is very friendly. It has limited seating inside and a few sports outside. They have limited bakery items but everything we ordered was delicious!

Strazza [strah-zuh, strazuh, sträzuh]…read more Noun 1. A concatenation of street and plaza "that connects pedestrians and cars in a safe and flexible environment". (Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle, 9/13) 2. A creative developer's term for a surface parking lot ringed with restaurants and drinking establishments which happen to connect said developer's two hotels. Aren't new, made up words illuminating? I came across the completely made up word "strazza" in the 'Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle' when reading about all the new restaurants that have been opening up in Glendale's City Set development. The word strazza sounds vaguely upscale. It's a word which may remind you of a stroll through the Piazza del Duomo while you are devouring biscotti, one after the other. Or perhaps it is a sensual word which, when spoken aloud by the likes of Sophia Loren, will unfurl your flag. Strazza. Where was I? Oh yeah, City Set. Yeah, none of the above dreamy notions will disrupt your visit to City Set. City Set is a very clever way of maximizing the real estate around the parking lot between the Hilton Garden Inn and the Residence Inn by Marriott. The line-up of restaurants and drinking establishments which surround the strazza is indeed impressive and a coup for Glendale: Jax Fish House, Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria, World or Beer, Udi's Cafe Pizza and Bar, and Big Smoke Burger are already bringing in the crowds. And still to open are The Kitchen Next Door and a Native Foods Café. That's a lot of variety which covers not only different tastes but different budgets as well. Smart, very smart. All the restaurants and their patios are adjacent to one other and overlook the parking lot so it kind of feels like you are dining on a public square of sorts, a 21st century commercial vision of an insipid street scene. I guess it's like a food court too, except instead of tables in the middle, one can park a car directly in front of their establishment of choice. If you can't find a parking spot directly on the surface lot, then there is underground parking too which I personally find more convenient than competing for a spot on the strazza. There is a shared valet service available too, but I haven't had the need for it. City Set is A-OK and I'm sure they are going to succeed because they seem to have the right tenant mix, the convenience of parking, are surrounded by the right demographics, and are adjacent to the busiest street in all of Colorado. For me, I'd rather have the real thing, as long as there is valet parking of course. Strazza.

City Set is the latest and greatest piece of the Glendale renaissance. There are two hotels, a…read moregreat mix of sit down and fast casual restaurants, and a Verizon store. Almost everything you need, really. During a recent visit, someone told me that pretty soon this place will be "the next Vegas". Certainly a bit of a stretch, but one day you will be able to stroll with your adult beverage around City Set and over to the Riverwalk that is scheduled to be completed in 2016, I believe. Pretty cool! So why not five stars? Parking. There just aren't enough spaces to accommodate both hotel guests and daily visitors. While complementary valet parking is available (currently the only way to use the parking garage), I'm not going to valet the car just to run in and grab a sandwich or a burger to go. I think even bike racks are limited but perhaps this will be addressed in the future. In any event, City Set is a big boost for Glendale and a fun place to hang out. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this development.

We were seated by the hostess who got waters for us and then had a very friendly waitress. She was very attentive as well. We started with the dip duo and grilled artichokes. The chips that came with the dips were great and dips super flavorful and very different so it was nice to have the contrast. The artichokes were grilled deliciously. I loved the charred taste. I ordered the salmon dish. I really enjoyed the salmon and my broccoli. The mashed potatoes were not my things. Lots of leeks/onions in it. We did get a side of fries instead and those were great - they tasted just like McDonald's! I can see why this restaurant is popular. Good food and great service!

‼ DON'T EVER ORDER FOOD TO GO FROM HERE!!! ‼…read more I honestly cannot believe a restaurant at this price point thinks this is acceptable. I spent over $50 on a to go order and it came with no napkins, no salad dressing, and no utensils. When I politely asked for a plastic fork because I was staying at a hotel, the employee, Sherry, repeatedly told me, "We don't provide that," and then kept saying, "I don't know what to tell you," instead of offering any kind of solution. The dismissive attitude was honestly worse than the missing items. Then I got back to my hotel and realized Sherry had handed me someone else's order. So after all of that, I didn't even have my own food. I ended up giving the meal to a homeless person and drove to Taco Bell instead. If your restaurant doesn't provide basic utensils or napkins with a takeout order, why are you even offering takeout? Even fast food restaurants understand that people ordering food to go might actually need a fork to eat it. This wasn't just about a missing fork. It was the complete lack of attention to detail, basic customer service, and then being handed the wrong order on top of it. For over $50, this was an unbelievably bad takeout experience. Save yourself the frustration and order somewhere else.

We told the waitress about our previous experience regarding my boyfriend's burger being super raw and she suggested that he get his burger cut in half, which worked! It was cooked well. I got the tuna melt and it was pretty standard, but delicious regardless. The star of the show, however, had to be the appetizers. We got the wings of two flavors that the waitress recommended. I don't remember the names, but one of them had a mustard taste to it and I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with the pretzels. This place has that classic sports bar energy you hope for... TVs everywhere, a lively crowd, and the kind of atmosphere where you can kick back and enjoy a solid burger. If you're a burger fan, be warned--the menu is loaded. It actually took a minute to land on a decision because there are so many creative options. I went with the Burger in a Bowl and added blue cheese. Now let's talk about that... They don't do the "light sprinkle" thing here. They pile it on, and as someone who appreciates bold flavor, I was all in. The burger itself was cooked well and had great flavor throughout. It comes with steak fries, and I specifically asked for them well done... unfortunately, they didn't quite hit that crispy finish I was hoping for. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting. Service was okay--nothing negative, just not overly engaging or memorable. Kind of a "take your order and keep it moving" vibe. That said, the overall experience was strong. Between the atmosphere, the variety on the menu, and a really solid burger, this is absolutely a place I'd come back to if I lived nearby. Pro Tip: If you're a blue cheese fan, don't hesitate--they go big with it here. Final Verdict: Great spot for burgers and a laid-back sports bar experience. A little more attention to fries and service would push this into 5-star territory.

Our party of four was impressed from start to finish. The staff was outstanding--knowledgeable, prompt, and attentive without ever hovering. It felt like they truly cared about making sure we had a great experience. The food was excellent across the board. My New York strip was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The rest of our group loved their dishes just as much--the mussels, shepherd's pie, and braised short ribs all got rave reviews. The price was a bit high, but the quality of the meal was spot on. I had the seared scallops with celery root puree, pomegranate seeds, cous cous, and toasted hazelnuts. Divine. My husband had the filet mignon with Bearnaise sauce, and roasted potatoes and asparagus. Also amazing. Both dishes per cooked to perfection. All employees were professional and our server was friendly. The atmosphere was lovely--clean, warm, inviting. It was an interesting journey to find the bathroom. It's shared with other parts of the building and was the only thing that needed attending. Four stars for the messy bathrooms, price being quite high, and it was a 2 hour and 45 min dinner. Took forever. I've never had so many glasses of water in my life in such a short period of time. If you can afford it, I would certainly say the food was almost worth it--desserts were just okay, and one of the appetizers was alright.

I'm glad our first experience ended up being at the Denver location because it definitely lived up to the hype. The restaurant has a more upscale feel than a lot of places around Denver, but it's still comfortable and welcoming. We started with the grilled artichokes, which were outstanding. They're a fun appetizer to share and pick at while waiting for your entrées, and the dipping sauce was incredible. For my main course, I ordered the cheeseburger with the coleslaw, and it was fantastic. I've been on a mission to find the best restaurant cheeseburger in Denver, and this one immediately jumped near the top of my list. The burger was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and the coleslaw was a great complement. My fiancée ordered one of the salads and really enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we couldn't pass up the brownie. Since it was my birthday, they added a candle to the scoop of ice cream on top, which was a thoughtful touch. The brownie itself was rich, warm, and absolutely top-tier. As someone who loves a good brownie, this one delivered, especially with the nuts on top adding a little extra texture. The service was just as impressive as the food. Our water glasses were constantly refilled before they got low, and one detail that really stood out was when they replaced my martini glass with a freshly chilled one so my drink stayed cold throughout the meal. It's those little touches that make a restaurant memorable. Overall, this was an outstanding birthday dinner, and we can't wait to come back. There were several dishes we want to try, including the Hawaiian ribeye, the barbecue ribs, and more of the salads. Totally OK, but the condescending tone is unnecessary. Again, first visit here and I was in a rush- it should be standard at the register to share that information; where to go, what to get. Second visit, I brought my colleagues and manager. Again, this information was not shared but luckily I was there to just get them what they needed. No big deal! But the food came out at different times and most of us felt uncomfortable eating food unless the entire table had theirs. Third time and here I am writing a review. I waited for my food as multiple people got served prior to me. I tried smiling and waving to someone who was delivering the food, and she was clearly avoiding me. She even checked in on everyone around me... On top of that, they seem well trained at removing the table number once the food has been served. My table number remained up for 25 minutes. I purchased an entree, drink, and a cookie- really trying to support the business here despite the lack of mind for the consumer. Not until another woman who seemed to have the outside coverage passed by was I able to get to share my issue. The manager came and offered me an additional side or dessert but my meal came with two sides and I had already purchased a cookie. He explained that the issue was because my order was pushed as completed but that does not cover the fact my table number was up the entire time and the other service members completely ignoring me. I am at Cherry Creek for work every other week and wanted this place to be my go-to for meals but 3/3 visits of service being subpar- I've got to move on! I audit service for work and understand I can't make judgment from the first two visits. This third one solidified it! I am not comfortable at Flower Child. 3 stars for 3 underwhelming experiences.
