Had a small selection, but that's just fine. What I find amazing is no one mentions the prices in their reviews. And that's a big part of things these days is it not. We only purchased two items. One eclair and one cherry, flaky pastry. It was almost $11 For two pastries. Yes, they were delicious, Yes they tasted fresh, Yes they were a good size, but that is pricey for me. Let's be real. According to Google, this french bakery on S Holly St has one of the best chocolate eclairs in Denver. They are located on the west end of a strip mall. Several parking spots out front. The display cases offer the classic French pastries + croissants. The owner, Gerard Donat from southern France has been in business for 20 years. They were reviewed in the Rocky Mtn News in 2006. His wife, Christelle comes in at 3am to prepare that day's pastries. She is gone by the time Gerard opens the shop at 8am. They are closed Sun & Mon. Prices are reasonable. Contrary to the usual, they prefer cash. Gerard can make coffee drinks with a machine. There are 3 tables inside & 2 tables outside. While here, several groups of people arrived including a woman speaking fluent french and a North African speaking moderate french. I got a chocolate eclair and Latte. Gerard warmed up the eclair in the microwave. It was stuffed with vanilla flavored cream with plenty of chocolate on top. They offer 9 different quiche + cookies and macaroons. We stop here every time we're in the area. The owner and staff are always super friendly. They have so many choices, so it's difficult to choose only a few. This time, I got the eclair and it was perfect. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I highly recommend their goat cheese quiche. If he asks if you would like it warmed up, say yes! It's such a treat to visit Les Delices de Paris. Their savory and sweet options all look and taste fabulous. I particularly enjoy their quiches (Alsace and Ham), they're fluffy with a soft crust. They are about the size of a hand pie which makes them a perfect breakfast or morning snack. They have various tarts, cookies, croissants, and eclairs to choose from on the sweet side, and honestly you can't go wrong. The Chocolate Dome is filled with a light and fluffy mousse on top of a very thin brownie and moist brownie layer. It would definitely fill up someone solo, but it's a great treat to split. Everything looks beautiful and tastes the same. They also have a limited coffee/latte menu. The owners could not be kinder people. They go out of their way to make me and my son feel welcome when we visit. You can see how much they truly love what they do. The space is very simple and no frills. Billing itself as an authentic French Bakery Les Delices De Paris has found a niche in the JCC neighborhood along Leetsdale Rd. at Holly. When you're looking for Denver's best quiche you've gotta check out a place that calls itself the "Les Delices" of anything or anywhere. Went in and asked what kinds of quiches they had prepared and was pointed to their salmon version. Turned 'em down when the nice kid behind the counter asked if I'd like it heated in the microwave. (Argh! Bad question. Bad suggestion. Good way to kill any quiche). "No thanks" I replied and took it back to my office to warm it up in the toaster oven. As you can tell from the pic I shouldn't have gone back to my office to work while it was heating up. Burned the top a little and that was my fault, but it wasn't too burnt and 10 minutes in a toaster oven for a quiche is light-years ahead of using a m/w. The body of the quiche was good. And the construction interesting. They'd layered the bottom of the crust with what tasted like fresh salmon, poured the egg base on top and finished it off with what I hoped was gruyere cheese but since I toasted it too much the cheese lost some of its flavor. Again, not their fault. Mine. What was missing however was any depth of flavor boosting the salmon. The quality of the ingredients used, however, was high and solid. The crust was cakey, not flaky. And while some might like that it just didn't ring any taste chimes for me. At least I hadn't let them m/v it so at least the crust wasn't mushy. All in all a good to very good quiche experience but not one I'd travel out of my way to get. read more

I've been there a few times and the first few times, I thought the female owner was just rushing me to order because while I was looking at the selection, another customer walked in. Whenever I would ask a question about an item, she is always snippy and dismissive, belittling even, as she looks down her nose at me. I ordered something today and looked around at the one dirty inside table and opted to eat in my vehicle parked out front. Mind you, I drive a nice newer vehicle, and I'm nicely dressed. After 10 minutes of listening to my radio and leisurely enjoying my purchase, she comes outside, glaring at me and taps her watch and makes the thumb sign at me to leave. I rolled down my window and asked if she was talking to me. She said that this parking is for customers only. I held up my half eaten item and exclaimed that I AM a customer. She replied that I am loitering and again told me to leave. WOW! Blatantly rude! Folks, there are far friendlier French bakeries in this town. It's too bad that this is the closest one to my home. I really wish I could give this place more stars. I appreciate an older French couple running this place and probably this being their passion. If I am being real, I felt it was just okay. Let me clarify, the quiches were good. I had the one with mushrooms and I would probably come back for another. The pastry, a raisin one, felt really sweet and just wasn't my style. I was particularly disappointed that the coffee came out of a machine (yeesh, I could have done that at home) and it was in Styrofoam. The woman that owns it has been very rude but her sweet husband and the pastries always made up for her angry attitude. Unfortunately now the pastries are as horrible as her attitude.This past weekend I came in for some pastries. The croissant were rock hard. I ordered other things for my husband's birthday but everything was still rock hard, dry and tasteless, besides the cherry danish. Not only that but the worst part was her price gouging if you're not French. I asked her how much the Apple tart was and she said $28. I ordered some other pastries and came back to buy the tart and she rang me up and it was $38 and I said no, you quoted me 28 and she said right $28 I'm like right, we go back-and-forth. Then she finally said "I told you the wrong price it's now $38" in the 10 minutes that I was sitting there the price went up by $10?? She wouldn't honor her first!!! The authentic french pastry experience...even the bakery owner had the most lovely French accent. I'd visit everyday if I could! Before visiting, I'd never known that I could fall in love with a cookie, but low and behold, their curved almond cookie was music to my taste buds. Quiches were okay, champignon & Florentine. They were creamy but lacking any depth of flavor and crust was not flaky. No toaster oven. She literally put it in the microwave. Buzz kill. She wasn't welcoming or friendly. Which made the whole interaction weird. 1 word answers. The macaroons were so dry and flavorless. Oooh so pretty and so colorful, what I meant was the FRENCH MACARONS... Hmm, if only they allow tasting or offer samples of these FRENCH MACARONS... Anyways, to narrow down my search of French pastry I decide to have the Mixed Fruit Tart and The Chocolate Mousse "Dome" while N opt for Croissant and Mixed Fruit Tart too. We were here right after our visit from Andre's, August 23rd 2012. All in all, I like what I had from Les Delices De Paris. I talked to the lovely lady behind the counter with regards in making an order for future events. They require 3 days in advance. Take note for the FRENCH Macarons, for 1 dozen will cost you $15.99. We got a almond one and a cream puff and both absolutely perfect. The place is not super nice or "up scale" and not trying hard to be something. Its not a place you would want to hang out, its a take out sort of place which is why a lot of idiots have given it 4 stars rather than 5. Ok, full disclosure-this review is just about the almond and chocolate croissants. So you know where I stand on pastries , I love Taste of Denmark, to an obsession, where I have tried just about everything, including the addictive Napoleons. I also really enjoy pastries at Trompeau bakery. Overall, both croissants here were very good. Buttery layers, almond flavor was light, chocolate was....well chocolatey good. Not a lot of layers but decent. Service was friendly, not gushing but fully acceptable. $5 min on credit card sales so I threw in a latte- one size, I think a 12oz for $4.00 which really wasn't worth it. Shop is tucked away in a corner so not visible from Leetsdale. I really have to try some of their other offerings, so for now, a 3 star. Will go back and try other pastries and also see if service is consistent. read more

Les Delices De Paris - Inside the Chocolate Croissant! - Bakeries Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Overall disappointing on all fronts. I usually don't put a lot of stock in the service given but the person behind the counter (proprietor?...employee?) was shall we say having a bad day and it showed. No greeting, no smile, no patience etc. First word out of her mouth to me and my well behaved 4 year old (full disclosure he can be a monster but the two words "chocolate gateau" lulled him into submission long before we arrived) was "don't touch the glass". On to the entremet (pastries), we tried the chocolate dome and chocolate truffle, both were okay. The chocolate dome was mousse layered over a thin cake base which was dry. The truffle cake was all ganache, very rich and no variation on texture. Also didn't enjoy eating this one chilled straight from the display case, good service would have said to let it warm up a bit for maximum enjoyment. Truffles are great when they are bite size but in this portion it needs to be a shared dessert or made much smaller. Lastly, we tried the individual size Mexican quiche (Jalapeno and cheese) which was probably the best of the three items we tried. However, no home runs on this visit. Parking is more than adequate and I suppose if you live around the corner and you are hard up for French desserts this place will do but anyone who has had pastry or entremet in any mid size to large international city NYC, LA, Chicago, Tokyo or France is going to be super bummed. read more
