I've been here many times for suit/uniform alterations! I keep coming back because the workmanship Ando provides is top notch. I've had my business suit altered along with my Army service uniform and Army mess dress. He follows the specified instructions provided for the military uniforms extremely well (definitely didn't want any measurements/alterations out of specifications). Pricing is reasonable and he usually gets the alterations back to me within 2-3 weeks. However, he has done a last minute alteration for me before and gotten it back to me earlier! read more

Ando is perfect, exceptional work, awesome personality, fast service, reasonable prices. He did an excellent job on alteration of my gown and pants. Wish everyone was as respectful and awesome like him. read more

I've been going here for years. Incredible service, fast, reasonable prices, and exceptional work. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Reasons the average guy might need a tailor are often infrequent, but if you're looking for a tailor and have found this review, then I probably don't need to explain the remarkable difference in appearance having a garment properly fitted makes. In the case of Ando, he can certainly handle, with great skill, your average adjusting or repairing needs; however, this is hardly where his talents end. A quick story about why I feel this way: In looking for a great Valentine's gift for my girlfriend, I realized the best gift might be something she already had. A simple dress she often wore around the house, that she'd had since she was in her teens. It was comfortable, well worn, and obviously one of her favorite things. Some people have their favorite watch, or a trusty old pair of shoes- for my lady, it was this ratty old dress. While masquerading as doing the laundry, I snuck it away from her for a day and took it straight to Ando. I explained that I wanted him to duplicate it, and make a few extras, but without any damage or harm coming to the existing dress. Meaning he had to look at it, as it had once been, maybe a decade earlier- determine what that would mean for a new pattern, and then also adjust for fit based on the wear of the existing dress. He did it all, and more. Apart from using the fabrics I had suggested, we went out and found one he felt might suit it better. He made the copies, and had them ready well ahead of time. I'll skip the part of the story where I gave them as a gift, but please trust me when I say they couldn't have been better received, and are still worn to this day. He even included a 'fitting' as needed, inviting her to come in if they ever needed minor adjustments. Frankly, though, they're better made than the original. The gal and I have since parted ways, but I still have the best tailor in town up my sleeve. Thanks Ando. read more

Ando is the PLATINUM standard. He has assisted my wife and I on countless occasions and has always delivered with the punctilio of utmost quality, care, and attention to detail. Ando has always exceeded our expectations and those of all of his loyal customers. It is my pleasure to recommend for your careful consideration, Ando and his staff at Designer Tailor. I have gotten to know Ando through our transactions and have been inspired by his persistence to go the distance towards attaining our goals. I can vouch for Ando's extraordinary work ethic, his integrity, and his commitment to client relations. I believe Ando will be a true asset to anyone in the market for tailoring services. read more

I'm so glad to have found designer tailors near sac! I bought a Valentino jacket and it was 2 sizes too big for me. I just loved the design of the jacket so much that I bought the last one in store even though it was too big for me. I was worried about taking the jacket to a tailor because I knew that the jacket could potentially be ruined if not taken in correctly. Ando greeted me warmly as i walked into the store and i told him about my concerns about the jacket and what i wanted to be fixed. He was very attentive and listened to what i liked and disliked which i was grateful. He took in my jacket from the sides, hemmed up the sleeves, shortened the length, and tightened the sleeves on a fully lined jacket for $120 which was definitely reasonable for taking in the jacket 2 whole sizes. After about a week, I returned to pick up the jacket to find it JUST AS I HAD HOPED. it fit me perfectly and looks wonderfully, It was solidly altered and didn't even look like it was taken in. In addition, he got the job done a day before the promised pick up date in which I was truly happy about. I will definitely be coming back to designer tailor! If he could professionally take in a high end designer jacket, I'm sure he could do many other alterations. read more

By far, the most helpful, kind, intelligent tailer i've ever met. As soon as I walked through the door, he knew my measurements to the point without using any tools. Definitely coming back here if I ever need anything again. read more

The man that runs this place is a professional and very skillful. He made me look damn good at my wedding. He recommended an alteration I didn't even know to look for that really kept me comfortable being in that suit all day. Very grateful for his work. read more

They did a beautiful job with my daughter's ball gown. I was surprised by how reasonable the price was for the complexity of the job.

This place is awesome. He was able to make my alterations and was able to them in a timely manner. He use to do tailoring at Nordstrom's. He was able to alter my dress and add some cups since the dress was low in the back. He definitely makes suggestions for you to see how it looks and is open to what you would like. read more

Never mind the suits & wedding dresses ! Just bring Ando whatever is hanging in your closet that's not a great fit. He has transformed not only my dress shirts, but casual tops, athletic wear, and more into fantastically fitting clothes. No material or design seems to faze him. His prices are very reasonable. What a resource - especially if you're a hard to fit size. Use his services! read more

Ando is the best at his job in this whole city. I had a suit jacket with too long of sleeves and functional button holes. Usually this means the jacket will not work out because that is a very tough and almost impossible alteration to make. Ando was able to rescue the suit and make the fit perfect. In addition, he is extremely knowledgeable on men's wear and how a suit is supposed to fit. I've gone to numerous alterations and tailors, and he was the first to explain to me what squared shoulders are and why every jacket I buy bunches up behind my neck. Lastly guys, just buy your suits from Ando and have him alter them. He has super 140's wool suits available (Italian made) for $395 at his shop. After alterations, I would imagine $500-$600 would be the ending total cost. That is an insane deal for super 140's wool suits. If you are lucky, you might find that level of quality for $1000 or more with online merchants, and that's before alterations. To add a little more perspective, Jos A Bank sells super 130's suits for about $500 on sale, and that's roughly the same quality as Men's Wearhouse (not that great). read more

Simply the best! No matter how big or small and always a pleasant experience and priced right.

I was looking for someone to hem an evening gown that I wanted to wear that night. I called and he said, "No problem. Come on in." He did a very orofessional job and it was ready to pick up in a couple of hours. read more

Ando presented several 'options' to me, gave me solid advise, and did a great job on my alterations. His prices are reasonable, and his experience/expertise and 'customer service' are exceptional. He is my new 'tailor for life', and I would recommend him to everyone! read more

First and foremost, my pants were hemmed correctly. I guess that's the most important thing. The gentleman has zero personality. I was cheerful and upbeat, tried making conversation, but was met with a dour face and only statements that were necessary to complete the transaction. Although my pants were hemmed properly, they were returned looking like they had been at the bottom of a pile of clothes or something. I always keep my pants on a hanger and pressed; I will have to iron them after bringing them home so wrinkled in places. Speaking of hangers, I would have expected my pants to be returned on hangers, as opposed to just brought from the back and placed on the counter. Finally, $15 to hem a pair of men's dress pants is expensive. Especially with the service issues I mentioned above and the pants coming back with lots of threads, not the color of my pants, all over. Threads at a tailor is an understandable issue, but he could invest in a lint roller! read more

Ando does a great job! Very knowledgeable and has a great eye for tailoring clothes and styles. I had him alter a pair of trousers and a suit. While I was there I even purchased another suit from him and had him tailor that as well. Great work. I'll be back read more

Brought in 2 pairs of jeans for taper and hem. Ando did an amazing job which looked flawless. Definitely will be back and would recommend.

At 4'11", I am always looking for a good tailor. I decided to try this place last week, and will use them again. The owner, Ando Margaryan, was a Nordstrom tailor for 14 years. He did a great job of shortening two knit tops for me, and.....I got "NEXT DAY" service! He uses high end machines, and you cannot tell the hems were ever altered, he made the hems match the factory seaming. He also sells designer clothing for men and women. His jeans selection for women look nice. This shop is in Raley's shopping center at Hazel and Madison, by Baskin Robbins. Good idea to shop at TJ Maxx in the same center, then let Ando make the item fit you perfectly. June 3, 2011 Update: Ando does it again! I am packing for a trip to Chicago leaving in the morning, and realize the slacks I intend to take are (as usual) 2 inches too long. The heartache of being a short Italian female ;-( I call Ando and ask is there anyway he can hem them that day. Of course he can! They are ready within an hour and this female is elated. Please do patronize this wonderful tailor, he does such quality work. He recently tailored the bridesmaid dress for an acquaintance of mine, and she was just as happy as I have been with his work. Still cooking with five stars for Ando! read more

The owner, Ando, is incredible. Professional, knowledgeable, passionate... This guy knows what he's doing. I've had terrible alteration experiences in the past so I was wary of finding a new place when I moved down here. Designer Tailor is the place to go. I took a pair of designer jeans in for my first visit an asked if they could be hemmed- Ando MAKES designer jeans himself, hemming is simple for him. He has been wonderful in the process of planning my wedding and choosing the right dress. This is a business you can support with confidence! read more

Though I have not had an item tailored YET, I want to give 5 stars to Ando for his professionalism and transparency. I bought a wedding dress that was 1-2 sizes too big and has complicated lace and details that would've made the alterations expensive. I respect his time and would never want him to bring down his price and he also respected my time and said he wasn't going to let me do all of this work. Most ppl wouldn't have been that upfront and would've been happy to take the money so I appreciate his guidance. Luckily, I have a back up dress that's much less complicated that I will be taking to him tomorrow. read more

Ando did a great job altering my wedding gown which consisted of hemming 6 layers of fabric, tightening the straps, adding bra cups and taking in the hips. He got this large task done within a week of me bringing the dress in for $350. Awesome job! Great service! I'll be back :) read more

I've been here several times due to the fact that alterations are done in a timely manner and that the owner is willing to take time and have a conversation with you. This matters to me. Twas two nights before Christmas and all through the hou, I worried about not having the holiday trou. Alas I called Ando right out of the blue. He invited me in for the measurements to do. Within the hour he had me sized. Within 24, I had new tailored trou.and was ready to dance to any old band. The cost was fair, the result a delight. I'm one happy customer on this Christmas night. Ando is amazing! We use him for suits, bridesmaids dresses, jean tailoring and even minor repairs. He does a gorgeous job for a fair price. He also completes the job on time or early and quickly! read more

I first met Ando when he was working in Auburn. I felt so lucky to find such a great tailor moving here from Los Angeles. Ando is so good that I now travel 45+ minutes just to have him tailor my clothes! His work is impeccable and he is a nice, sweet man who cares about your clothes and how they fit you. read more

I have used Designer tailor twice now. Once to hem my sons pants, and again for my own pants and to alter the length of my shirt and the the length of the sleeves. I have had a few shirts altered before at another place and they always came out looking altered. At Designer Tailor you would never know our clothes were altered. They were perfect. He is reasonably priced especially for the services he provides. We will come here for all of our needs from now on. read more

This is *the* place. I had two pair of gorgeous wide leg pants that I needed tailored for my short self - one pair had a stitching detail at the hem and the other pair was a high-end fabric. I read the reviews and decided Designer Tailor was the place to trust - I was proven right! He worked with my time frame and the prices were great. Impeccable work. He tailored the length perfectly to my height and shoes, so now I look like a million bucks when I wear them. He even copied the stitching detail on the first pair, to maintain the integrity of the style. There isn't anyone better in the area - trust Designer Tailor! I will definitely be bringing in other pieces that I have with potential to be tailored to perfection, rather than accepting a not-so-decent fit from a sizing system that doesn't suit my athletic build. Ando is the one for the job. I can't wait to get the rest of my wardrobe tailored to perfection. read more

Awesome service! Great prices, quality work and fast service with a smile. Great experience all-round.

I took in a designer dress that needed the sleeves made wider. I tried on the dress so it could be marked. When I went to pick up the dress and tried it on the sleeves were still to tight. I was told the dress wasn't for me. I wasn't charged the $50 since the alteration done didn't work. As it is now I wouldn't even be able to sell the dress with the failed alteration, it's now worthless. After reading all the great reviews i had high hopes, this is not what I was hoping for. It would have been nice if there was some interest in trying to try fix the issue. The quality of the work was good. The customer service was odd, no real interest shown in trying to correct the issue. I used to go to a great tailor in broadstone (Folsom), but the business closed. The tailor was more interested in fitting a guy who came in to pick up his blinged out denim jacket, it was a horrid hot mess. read more

this guy is absolutely amazing. I had a work function to go too and I needed an extremely long dress cut for a 5"0 person. Went in and he assured me it would be done in 3 days. And it was really cheap. Only $100 unlike every where else I went they wanted $300+. He even got done with my dress a day early. I would highly recommend this place to any one. read more

I have been going to see Ando for several years now and he has always been incredibly professional with every experience. His skill and confidence make you feel comfortable and his prices are very comparable to other tailors. He is very accomodating and will often agree to my unreasonable time frames more often then not. If you want it done right the first time whatever you're getting tailored, see Ando at Designer Tailor. read more

Designer Tailor is the BEST!! I call Ando "MIRACLE MAN"...... The reason I call him " miracle man" it's because HE CAN MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE... POSSIBLE!!! I had a evening dress that needed to be hem ,and went to several different tailors. I was told it's a lot of work , we need over a week to do that work , one tailor charged 3 times more than what I paid for the dress... than I found Designer Tailor , and didn't mind driving over 40 minuets. THE BEST DECISION EVER!!! He was able to get it done in few hours... and the price he charged ... UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Almost nothing compare to other Tailor shops. He presented several options, gave me good advice and did an AMAZING job. His by far the greatest people person.his ability to communicate with you and deliver your tailoring needs is UNMATCHED!!! I moved to NC . However, that dose not stop me from getting my clothes hemmed at this shop. I come visit my family twice a year and I bring all my clothes that need alterations to Ando. I do not trust anyone else in their work or pricing.. HE also makes custom dresses for me . I just send him a picture and he handles the rest ( he has all my measurements) if you want quality work and unbeatable price... DESIGNER TAILOR is the place ... he earned my business for life !!! read more

My wife bought me a beautiful dress shirt that was too big. I went to see Ando to find out if he could virtually remake shirt. He needed to take in the sides, take in the sleeves, and shorten the sleeves by almost 2". WOW....he made the shirt look custom tailored!! It now fits like a glove. I am more impressed with Ando than any other tailor I have ever used. His pricing is very reasonable and his work is outstanding. His numerous 5 star Yelp reviews are well earned. read more

Awesome business alert! If you are in the Fair Oaks area, I would highly recommend Designer Tailor. I needed to get a nice dress altered at the last minute, and after taking it in to Designer Tailor on Saturday, was told he could do it by Wednesday. It was cutting it close, but I agreed and prepaid (very reasonable price). I started to get worried that it was too tight of a timeline, so I called up and asked if it could be ready by Tuesday. He told me it could (relief!). About 30 minutes later, he called me up and told me it was finished! I was so surprised. He told me that I seemed worried and he wanted to take something off of my plate. The alteration was simple, but perfectly done. I was especially taken by the human element dealing with a small business owner. He was right; I was worried and his small gesture did make a difference. I cant recommend Ando at Designer Tailor enough! read more

This shop is AMAZING!! Reasonably priced and this gentleman really knows what he's doing. Recently had my wedding dress altered and while I was a nervous wreck he made me feel comfortable with his handiwork and confidence. The work was done quickly and I had no issues at all which as I understand is pretty unusual for wedding dress alterations. No matter, my experience was great and I highly recommend this shop. read more
