I have been going here since I can remember. This is a family owned restaurant. Fantastic service, friendly staff, food is always consistent very chill ambiance. I get the Sesame Chicken with Brown Rice and the Sizzling Rice Soup (no one else has this soup) This is the best soup around, you have to eat it at the restaurant. You have to try it! I have loved Desert Jade for 30 years. The best hot and sour soup that I have found. Wish the quantity and quality wasn't slipping. Had a chicken dish and the chicken breast had what I consider a low quality taste. The sauce was so mild it didn't cover the taste issue. The sliced celery were from huge stalks so awkward - would preferred them in half so better bite ratio. They make the best hot Jasmine tea. read more

What happened to this place? It's used to be gas and now it's a**. The Honey Walnut shrimp had burnt walnuts, no sauce just straight mayonnaise smeared on top? The chow mein and fried rice--soggy vegetables and no flavor, everything was overcooked and mushy. Some of the broccoli we were served tasted spoiled like that bad broccoli smell. The lettuce wraps crispy stuff is not crispy the last 2x and seriously has the texture and flavor of cardboard. The crab wontons were put into the styrofoam still so hot that it burnt holes through the bottom. They were also overcooked. Mmmm plastic styrofoam in my crab wontons! Seriously this used to be our 'go-to', and now it's so bad I threw out $60 worth of leftovers. What happened? read more

For this review I have been there twice. Desert Jade is the old style Cantonese restuant. The food has delcate flavors and the ingredients combine with each other to form new tastes. Gentle on the palet, it would be a shame if they all diappeared, espcially this one. On both occasions there were too many empty tables. In order to combat the lack of patronage, Desert Jade has raised prices and shrunk portions. For this it will not get five stars. The portions are adequate . Ingredients such as cabbage are cheap enough to be slightly generous with. Service was as prompt and polite and very professional. The seating is comfortable. You will not be crowded in the dining room, even at the bussiest times. There is plenty of space between seats and between tables. The bathrooms are clean. I urge you to visit Dessert Jade. It was usual and acustomary in it's approach but now is unique among eating establishments serving gustatory flames. There is a wonderful world of unique and gentle flavors that I urge you to try. read more

The food is amazing, acoustics are great so you can actually hear others in your dinner party, outstanding service. They actually still have "bus people " that clear plates, bring complimentary tea and refill water. Vs other chains and new places that expect the server to do it all and they just don't. Highly recommend this restaurant. Faves are sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken with veggies, egg rolls and so much more. Local family owned for a very long time. HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT!!! The service was subpar, food was bland, and when I checked my bank statement the next day, they overcharged me by almost $40! When I called and asked for my money back it was a complete fiasco. Every employee I spoke with was rude, kept talking over me and interrupting me, and basically told me I was crazy despite my bank statement proving they stole from me (whether is was a mistake or on purpose, no one was sorry and everyone was rude). I asked if I could come in so I could show them my bank statement on my phone and the owner, Yen, threatened to call the cops on me. I eventually did go in and she didn't give me the light of day. Didn't even apologize. CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS WHEN YOU GO HERE! Or pay in cash. OR, don't go here because you can do SO much better. To Yen, get it together. I can't believe you're a business owner. Must be a horrible work environment since one of your employees mouthed "I'm sorry" to me. This must not be a rare thing. read more

The lunch specials the first time we took out was good. But our second takeout was inedible. The tangerine beef meat was very tough. The chicken pieces were tiny and unrecognizable. The chow fun noodles were one gelatinous heap. Only the rice was good. Never again. read more

Been here once before many years ago. Friend likes this place so we enjoyed a Saturday lunch. Place has been here for many years. Ordered a large sweet and sour bowl and had a Mongolian Beef Lunch with brown rice. The sweet and sour soup was very tasty and loaded with vegetables and chicken. I could not identify everything in the soup but it was tasty and that is what counts. The Mongolian Beef was tender and had a tasty brown sauce. Only ate one of the two brown rice scoops. The small egg roll was crispy. Lunch was served with hot tea. Service was very good. Great to see a small family lunch crowd. Prices are reasonable. Yummy yummy for my tummy! The reviews on Yelp were mixed but we decided to give it a go anyway. We ordered the pot stickers, tangerine chicken and spicy (5) chicken and vegetables. We were promptly served hot tea and water. The tea was delicious. The pot stickers were very meaty. Our dishes were pretty spicy for a 5 heat value. Tons of meat and veggies, el dente. We had a lot to take home. The service was great and cleared dishes promptly. Tables were super clean and Chinese decor was minimal but nice. We will go back. read more

Happened to be on this side of town after years away. Happy to see that our old favorite Chinese restaurant was Still around & open! Building & parking lot are still ugly - SO WHAT - don't take a selfie outside! Pleasant service. Friendly, attentive servers. Food was hot & fresh! Lovely hot pot of mild tea, the only time I drink it "straight", no sugar. Sweet & Sour soup, very fulsome, lots of good ingredients. Not super sour but very very tasty way to whet the palate. Egg Fried Rice is a family fav, nicely done. Makes great leftovers too. Kung Pao Beef. They do it RIGHT here, deep fried, order a "7" level heat if you want a nice tingly feeling on your scalp and in your mouth. Got Spicier in our leftover bin and a couple of days later it tried to burn through the styrofoam haha (SO Gooood!!) Hot Tip: I told the server that I really love curry in Indian food but had never tried Chinese, what did he recommend? He said the Singapore Rice Noodles (hiding in the Chow Mein section). SO GOOD. Those super thin noodles coated (not drowned) in a lovely curry with generous portions of shrimp and pork. Just delicious. and again - amazing Leftovers. We got all of our favorites aka way too much food for two people but who doesn't love Chinese food leftovers!? Desert Jade favs: Chicken chow mein (thinner noodles and not like your average chow mein - the only ingredient that I don't love are the slimy mushrooms) Beef + broccoli (it also has thin carrot slices in it which I love) TANGERINE CHICKEN - a must every time Moo shu pork - like little burritos of heaven; I love the sauce! White rice It all came hot and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the above! We also love dining in for their lunch specials, they really can't be beat. read more

They need to use better cooking oil! Their fried rice is barely edible and it seems stale. Their egg foo young is not what egg foo young tastes like do they are using wrong ingredients and cheap oil to fry it in! Ordered takeout on a Saturday afternoon. Place was dead maybe 2 tables of people eating a late lunch. Food was done in a timely matter approx 20 mins from ordering. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the expectations and the other reviews I have seen. Ordered egg drop soup to start, it was ok a little flavorless and wish it had a little garnish or something. I also got the Chicken Lettuce Wraps Or Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps and was extremely disappointed. Was very wet and soggy and had a bunch of peas in it. Never have I ever gotten regular green peas in a lettuce wrap. Chicken Fried Rice ( vegetarian ) was lackluster as well. Had absolutely no flavor and the same dreaded frozen bag of peas and carrots. Overall disappointed and left with a flavorless ( seriously no salt or pepper ??) oily lunch. read more

We ordered our dinners through doordash over the weekend as this place had some decent reviews and was located fairly close to our house. I really struggled with this review as I know restaurants are having a tough time right now, but I do feel it is important to let people know our experience. First, the good, the eggroll was very good, all the sauces were sent in the package so it was nice to have some sweet and sour dipping sauce. The rice was also very good, just regular white rice, but was not sticky like we usually see from delivery. Unfortunately, both our Kung Pao chicken and our cashew chicken were honestly just bland as anything we could have. The chicken seem to be boiled, and there really was no savory sauce or anything on either meal. As a matter of fact, with the containers sitting on our coffee table, other than one had cashews and one had a few peanuts, there didn't seem to be much difference between them. I will give the restaurant credit, and doordash, that the meal arrived nice and hot, which we've struggled with lately as well. I just cannot in good faith recommend this place, maybe stick with some of the more popular meals? read more

Honestly this has been a favorite for years but either they've allowed their trust fund kids to take over or they sold it to some rando person and didn't tell the neighborhood. Last two times food was awful. Rice was undercooked and more bamboo shoots and two pieces of broccoli in the veggie stir fry. Ordered egg foo young and it was burnt. Yes. Tasted like it was burnt. Edges were bad. No flavor to the sauce and super watery. Asked for side of veggies again and maybe laid $9 for 1/2cup. Sorry. I'm going elsewhere. 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that the waitress only speaks fragmented English, and another young woman speak no English. So, for those --like me--who are unilingual--it is then difficult to accurately convey. I always find the need to speak to manager, for the most part--still it's frustrating. Still, the food is always very good. The service is sufficient and always very clean and maintained with everything. It breaks my heart to write a bad review about Desert Jade, since I've had some great food from them in the past, but this one has been earned. I ordered through Grub Hub for delivery. I ordered a cup of wor wanton soup and an order of noodles with veggies only. It showed that I had to pay $1 for lomein noodles, which I didn't want, but it gave me no choice to the matter. The wor wanton was about 1/4 cup liquid and packed with large veggies, and was bland. The noodles were the worst and had so much garlic in them that it was inedible. This ends my love for Desert Jade and I won't be back. read more
