I have had a wonderful experience with Eye Works and Dr Ho. I have been going to Eye Doctors since I was 3 years old so, I am experienced with Optometrists . And Dr. Ho stands out as one of the good ones. It was a good experience all around. I had frames that were not very old and then had cataract surgery and wanted to use those old frames. They did not try to upsell me. They gave me what I wanted ; in the time I wanted. And, my prescription is spot on. The only difficulty I had was in making an appointment online. Apparently, they no longer use that form. Call the office directly! read more

I was a new patient in April and had a great initial visit (the office and doctor were very nice). However, after being prescribed new contacts, I experienced weeks of blurry vision and knew something wasn't right. I called multiple times and left several voicemails, but it took about three weeks to get a response from the doctor (via a staff member). When I heard back, I was told to use eye drops and "blink more to rotate the contacts," which felt dismissive given I've worn contacts for over 20 years. I should have been brought in for a re-exam or evaluation after the first concerning call. That was never remotely offered. I paid out of pocket to see another doctor, who suggested the prescription was too strong and not appropriate for my eyes. He shook his head when I showed him the measurements. Very disappointing experience and even poorer follow-up care. read more

Dr. Serena Ho is great - an excellent doctor, very knowledgeable, & willing to explain everything & answer all your questions. In addition, the staff is pleasant, professional, and helpful. I've been going there for a number of years now, and I've always been more than satisfied. I would highly recommend Desert Eye Works Optometry.. They have a wide selection of frames and they have always helped me pick out the right frame for my face. read more

Great place great staff...Dr. Ho takes her time to explain she is really patience answers all questions

My first visit was fine. In fact I recommended the practice. No more. Today I went in and was there for an hour mostly waiting without any communication about when they might see me. They staff was condescending and the doctor was not much better today. I will be going somewhere else Asap. read more

Went in for my first visit and loved everyone. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Ho and team are very patient/customer friendly. The eye exam is thorough and gave me confidence that my eye health & vision prescription are accurate and suited best in various frame selections for best results (seeing well). The office is clean, frames available on a-few walls, so plenty of choices. Thank you to the entire team at Desert EyeWorks Optometry, nearly next door to Bristol Farms in Palm Desert. read more

7-10 business days (for my glasses) they told me on the 1st. It's now Oct. 19th. (Still no glasses) Every time I call they say "they should be in today" But 530 comes around, closed. No call for my glasses still til this day I PAID FOR MY GLASSES and they have not gave them to me. Definitely will NOT be back & I will be taking business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Ho is the most awesome eye doctor I have every been to. She spends a great amount of time doing the examination and explains issues in an understandable manner. Her explanation of why I should wear polarized sunglasses was eye opening! Plus she has an outstanding personality! The technician and front desk staff are also great and very professional. They are very courteous and understanding of budgetary constraints - no Prada glasses for me! read more

Made an appointment as a referral from my health insurance provider. Disappointed, left without doing exam. 1) Masked only. (I doubt their judgment regarding health issues.) 2) Told me about additional charges only at the time I showed up. 3) Additional charges were vague and elastic. I had no idea what they were going to charge me for an exam provided BY MY HEALTH INSURANCE. 4) I asked questions, politely, and listened to the answers. Staff obviously became alarmed and defensive, and were happy when I left. read more

Fantastic Optical Source. Dr. Ho is incredibly talented, knowledgeable and has an amazing bedside manner. She always does the best for me and my eye health. I've been to the big boxes, Lens Crafters, Sears, Target, none of them were as concerned with my eyes and overall health as Dr. Ho. This office is different, the people are kind, helpful and there is no hard sell. What is suggested for your eyes is needed. For instance, Dr. Ho prescribed sunglass, something I thought I didn't need. Well, I live in the desert with sun almost all year round, of course, I need sunglasses, glaucoma anyone? Thank you, Dr. Ho. Pricing is fair and the selection was a good fit for me, thank you, Bruce and Stephanie, for picking the correct frame for my face. Outstanding CustomerService, good pricing, excellent Dr and Staff, I have a new home for Glasses. Thank you! Sham read more

Dr. Ho was highly recommended. Too bad I never got to meet her. Their website lists many insurance carriers they are ssociated with and when I called for my appointment I asked about insurance carriers. There was nothing stated on the phone or website to indicate that only selected plans from the insurance carriers are accepted. I went in for my appointment and found out that the insurance I had just purchased would be considered out of network and relatively useless. The staff couldn't have cared less. There was no negotiation to compensate for the misunderstanding (which I think was their fault for not disclosing more information when I specifically asked about insurance). The staff members were very unwelcoming so I left without being seen. read more

Professional and compatoinal staff, great selection of stylish glasses to choose from. There is nothing like trying and seen my glasses before purchasing. A patient since 2011. read more

Never got to meet the doctor, staff alone was very rude and unwelcoming. Left the premises and drove to a more welcoming atmosphere.

Just had a wonderful experience with Desert EyeWorks. Their level of service far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

The fact that they're closed on Friday Saturday and Sunday is very inconvenient for me

Excellent. Had my first visit today and am so pleased and relieved to have found a warm and comfortable environment. The staff are so nice. And Dr. Serena Ho, Is fabulous. Put me at ease. My eyes have found a home for great care. read more

I had an eye exam at Desert Eyeworks yesterday. It was an extraordinary experience in every way. Dr. Ho and her staff treated me with the utmost respect and addressed my questions with attention and concern. Dr. Ho is a gifted practitioner. I've not met a more knowledgeable ophthalmologist in the thirty plus years of requiring eye care. Her ability to explain the findings of my exam were extraordinary. The time Dr. Ho spent, the personalized attention I received, meant a lot to me as a consumer. I have found my new home for eye care. Thank you Desert Eyeworks! read more

This place is horrible. Unhelpful staff, huge waste of money. Policies arent told to you at the time of purchase if a change or return may be requested. Such a scam.... I'll never come back here and will make sure anyone I know who is looking for an eye doctor doesn't come here. Really disappointing! read more

Dr. Serena and staff were able to take care of my daughter and get her fitted with glasses and contacts very quickly.. very knowledgeable, friendly, and explained things clearly to me what may be covered by insurance and what may not be etc etc.... so no surprises. clean facilities, state of art equipment, very pleased liked how there are nice shops in the same plaza - extremely convenient read more

I love coming in to see Dr. Serena Ho, she has so much compassion for her clients. Picking up my New " Face Jewelry ". Priced as a down payment for an apartment ! BUT OH SO GORGEOUS Well worth the 2 months it took me, with iPhone photo in hand, to make the Big Decision !!!! I LOVE THEM read more

I learned more about my eyes and previous prescription in the first visit than in over 30 years anywhere else! Dr. Ho explains in great detail your issues as well as the best course of action regarding your new prescription including the best type of lens, frame suggestions to support the weight of the lens, etc. She is great! The office staff (Simon & Rico) are very professional and courteous. When I picked up my new glasses they felt a little off but I knew that my prescription was very different for one eye so it was suggested by Simon that I try them out and let my one eye adjust so I took them and left. The next day I decided to return and spoke with Rico. He pulled my chart, checked the prescription and explained the problem (it is not my glasses), made frame adjustments to both pair of glasses and now everything is great. They are not the least expensive place for frames and lens but I believe that you also get what you pay for... or should anyway so Desert Eyeworks is now my Optometry office. read more

I picked up both my sunglasses and progressive glasses today and could see so much clearer with Dr. Ho s new prescription. This is the first time im wearing progressives and the opticians made sure they fit comfortably and properly before letting me take them. she also taught me how to look through the lenses properly. I am very happy with my experience here. she gave me advice as to how to care for them and clean them too! read more

Best experience of our lives. Hubby and I saw Dr. Ho the other day and were blown away. We have been trying for years to get someone to correct our vision problems and have failed. After a little talk and several questions plus the exam she explained in simple English what our problems were and how we our previous eye providers had not gone far enough to do the proper correction. We full time RV so it is hard to find a really good eye doctor. We hit the jackpot with Dr. Serena Ho and will "always" come back to her. Wish there were more stars to give her. Staff was great also and really helpful with everything. read more

We are new to the area and found desert eye works. I gave a 3 star rating but I would give Dr. Ho a high mark, 5. She is very kind, very thorough, took her time and my husband and I were very happy with her. I would give the staff a 2 and the eyeglass selection a 1-2. The staff did not mark our progressives correctly, I have a very hard seeing and I have worn progressives for almost 15 years. And the selection of frames is not on point, not up to date. I should not have ordered there but I did. My husband ordered two pairs, sunglasses and regular eyeglasses. Doctor said he needed progressives, he has never worn them so there wound be a period of getting used to wearing them. When we picked up the glasses, the sunglasses were NOT progressives, the other pair progressives. How is someone supposed to get used to progressives if they are wearing sunglasses that are not, then moving back to regular lenses. The staff argued it was correct, the doctor was not available. In the end we had to pay the difference to change the eyeglasses. Here's the worst part, both if us have insurance and we still paid 2 or 3 thousand dollars. VERY expensive, I would say over priced. I'm sorry I don't know the exact amount right this minute. I would not recommend buying the glasses there but do recommend Dr. Ho. read more

My husband and I have both been loyal, happy customers of the practice for the four years we've lived here. And now, a simple question to the practice has made us decide to go elsewhere for our vision needs and to recommend to others that they NOT use this optometrist because of the lack of caring on display. Let me explain. I had my usual eye exam and purchased new contacts (multi-focal, a year's supply) and had lenses replaced in two pairs of existing glasses. Lenses replaced (one pair single vision only and the other progressive), mind you, no new frames. The cost? Over $1,100. Okay, so I feel a little screwed, but the quality was good and the price wasn't the issue. The issue is that when I picked up my glasses, I requested a receipt and my prescriptions. The receipt was almost $400 less than what I paid at the time of my exam. Okay...I'll clear this up. I emailed, so I could attach the erroneous receipt. No reply. Wait two weeks and send another email. That was two weeks ago. Still no reply to what I feel was a legitimate question from a loyal customer. Why the $400 dollar difference in what I paid at exam and the receipt I picked up a week later? And why the unwillingness to even give the courtesy of a reply? It would have been a simple thing, if the practice cared even a bit about its patients. But they obviously can't be bothered, since they have my money (and maybe too much of it). And with that attitude, it's time for us to move on. It's too bad that something that could have been rectified simply was not. Please look elsewhere for your eyecare needs in the valley. read more

Our optometrist moved away so we had to find another. We tried a couple and were not happy. Based on Yelp reviews we tried Dr. Ho. This was the best experience we have had with an optometrist. This office is clean, quiet and has great technicians. The Dr. is thorough and patient. Dr. Ho will be our optometrist from now until she retires. read more

Just walked in and another patient was in front of me. When the other patient left, I was still not greet let alone acknowledged. I grabbed a clipboard and filled out my information. I asked the receptionist if I had other new forms to fill out (and the lady optometrist was there too). They checked their schedule and said both my daughter and my appointment was yesterday. The optometrist literally laughed in our face. She was very rude. How can this place have good reviews?! read more

Needed an adjustment on my sport glasses and in moment I was in and out. Completely satisfied and fixed.

I went to Desert EyeWorks as a Kaiser Permanente member. I had a contact lens fitting and paid $80. The contact lenses prescription was done incorrectly by Dr Ho. Based upon her prescription I purchased contact lens and glasses. When it became obvious to me the prescription was not done correctly I was forced to get another lens fitting and prescription. This most prescription was MUCH different that Dr Ho's and the same as ones received for many years. When I pointed this error out to Desert EyeWorks and requested a refund I was told it was really my fault for not coming back to them for a review of the prescription. Why would I come back to a place that got it wrong? If you are looking for good customer service and competent eye care DO NOT GO HERE! read more

My experience here was really smooth and enjoyable! The staff was welcoming and efficient yet thorough. And Dr. Ho was so kind and knowledgeable. There were several other patients when I came in, but they didn't keep anyone waiting long. Dr. Ho patiently explained everything in detail, but also made it easy to understand for me. Also she seems to have really great communication with her staff. As an office manager, I immediately noticed and appreciated that. The office is clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. Oh, and there's cookies and coffee in the waiting room! read more
