7-10 business days (for my glasses) they told me on the 1st. It's now Oct. 19th. (Still no glasses) Every time I call they say "they should be in today" But 530 comes around, closed. Dr. Ho was highly recommended. Too bad I never got to meet her. Their website lists many insurance carriers they are ssociated with and when I called for my appointment I asked about insurance carriers. There was nothing stated on the phone or website to indicate that only selected plans from the insurance carriers are accepted. I went in for my appointment and found out that the insurance I had just purchased would be considered out of network and relatively useless. The staff couldn't have cared less. There was no negotiation to compensate for the misunderstanding (which I think was their fault for not disclosing more information when I specifically asked about insurance). Made an appointment as a referral from my health insurance provider. Disappointed, left without doing exam. 1) Masked only. (I doubt their judgment regarding health issues.) 2) Told me about additional charges only at the time I showed up. 3) Additional charges were vague and elastic. I had no idea what they were going to charge me for an exam provided BY MY HEALTH INSURANCE. 4) I asked questions, politely, and listened to the answers. Fantastic Optical Source. Dr. Ho is incredibly talented, knowledgeable and has an amazing bedside manner. She always does the best for me and my eye health. This office is different, the people are kind, helpful and there is no hard sell. What is suggested for your eyes is needed. Best experience of our lives. Hubby and I saw Dr. Ho the other day and were blown away. We have been trying for years to get someone to correct our vision problems and have failed. After a little talk and several questions plus the exam she explained in simple English what our problems were and how we our previous eye providers had not gone far enough to do the proper correction. We full time RV so it is hard to find a really good eye doctor. We hit the jackpot with Dr. Serena Ho and will "always" come back to her. Wish there were more stars to give her. We are new to the area and found desert eye works. I gave a 3 star rating but I would give Dr. Ho a high mark, 5. She is very kind, very thorough, took her time and my husband and I were very happy with her. I would give the staff a 2 and the eyeglass selection a 1-2. The staff did not mark our progressives correctly, I have a very hard seeing and I have worn progressives for almost 15 years. And the selection of frames is not on point, not up to date. I should not have ordered there but I did. My husband ordered two pairs, sunglasses and regular eyeglasses. Doctor said he needed progressives, he has never worn them so there wound be a period of getting used to wearing them. When we picked up the glasses, the sunglasses were NOT progressives, the other pair progressives. How is someone supposed to get used to progressives if they are wearing sunglasses that are not, then moving back to regular lenses. The staff argued it was correct, the doctor was not available. In the end we had to pay the difference to change the eyeglasses. Here's the worst part, both if us have insurance and we still paid 2 or 3 thousand dollars. VERY expensive, I would say over priced. I'm sorry I don't know the exact amount right this minute. I would not recommend buying the glasses there but do recommend Dr. Ho. read more

My husband and I have both been loyal, happy customers of the practice for the four years we've lived here. And now, a simple question to the practice has made us decide to go elsewhere for our vision needs and to recommend to others that they NOT use this optometrist because of the lack of caring on display. Let me explain. I had my usual eye exam and purchased new contacts (multi-focal, a year's supply) and had lenses replaced in two pairs of existing glasses. Lenses replaced (one pair single vision only and the other progressive), mind you, no new frames. The cost? Over $1,100. Okay, so I feel a little screwed, but the quality was good and the price wasn't the issue. The issue is that when I picked up my glasses, I requested a receipt and my prescriptions. The receipt was almost $400 less than what I paid at the time of my exam. Okay...I'll clear this up. I emailed, so I could attach the erroneous receipt. No reply. Wait two weeks and send another email. That was two weeks ago. Still no reply to what I feel was a legitimate question from a loyal customer. Why the $400 dollar difference in what I paid at exam and the receipt I picked up a week later? And why the unwillingness to even give the courtesy of a reply? It would have been a simple thing, if the practice cared even a bit about its patients. But they obviously can't be bothered, since they have my money (and maybe too much of it). And with that attitude, it's time for us to move on. It's too bad that something that could have been rectified simply was not. Please look elsewhere for your eyecare needs in the valley. read more

I learned more about my eyes and previous prescription in the first visit than in over 30 years anywhere else! Dr. Ho explains in great detail your issues as well as the best course of action regarding your new prescription including the best type of lens, frame suggestions to support the weight of the lens, etc. She is great! The office staff (Simon & Rico) are very professional and courteous. When I picked up my new glasses they felt a little off but I knew that my prescription was very different for one eye so it was suggested by Simon that I try them out and let my one eye adjust so I took them and left. The next day I decided to return and spoke with Rico. He pulled my chart, checked the prescription and explained the problem (it is not my glasses), made frame adjustments to both pair of glasses and now everything is great. They are not the least expensive place for frames and lens but I believe that you also get what you pay for... or should anyway so Desert Eyeworks is now my Optometry office. read more

I picked up both my sunglasses and progressive glasses today and could see so much clearer with Dr. Ho s new prescription. This is the first time im wearing progressives and the opticians made sure they fit comfortably and properly before letting me take them. she also taught me how to look through the lenses properly. Needed an adjustment on my sport glasses and in moment I was in and out. Completely satisfied and fixed.

Just walked in and another patient was in front of me. When the other patient left, I was still not greet let alone acknowledged. I grabbed a clipboard and filled out my information. I asked the receptionist if I had other new forms to fill out (and the lady optometrist was there too). They checked their schedule and said both my daughter and my appointment was yesterday. I went to Desert EyeWorks as a Kaiser Permanente member. I had a contact lens fitting and paid $80. The contact lenses prescription was done incorrectly by Dr Ho. Based upon her prescription I purchased contact lens and glasses. When it became obvious to me the prescription was not done correctly I was forced to get another lens fitting and prescription. This most prescription was MUCH different that Dr Ho's and the same as ones received for many years. When I pointed this error out to Desert EyeWorks and requested a refund I was told it was really my fault for not coming back to them for a review of the prescription. Shania is a rock star!!! One of the pins had fallen out of my glasses so I took the pin with the glasses to Desert EyeWorks Optometry to see if they could repair it. Of course I expected to pay for this. Shania put a new pin in immediately since she said my old one had to be defective in order for it to have fallen out. Then she checked the other side and it was loose also, so she replaced that one. She said there was no charge so I tried to give her a gratuity which she would not accept.
