New patient/first time visit. They are a very friendly/welcoming office. I was seen by Dr. Voster. He was very thorough in my examination. He showed me the inside of my eyeballs and explained everything going on with my eyesight. He even explained how my medication also helps widen the veins in my eyes to get blood flowing there. We talked about how my vision affects me at work, daily life and what type of lenses suited my needs. Dr. Voster also recommended some eye drops to help with the dryness. He escorted me to another side of the office that was where the glasses were. They have a decent selection. The person that helped me gave me recommendations and broke down costs. Overall it was a great experience, but just an FYI - it was a bit of a sticker shock with the kind of lenses I got. I got the ones where I can see far when driving and have readers for close up. Personally, I should have just got regular glasses and bought some readers separately. Lol I say consider this place as an option. They are truly a great staff with excellent services - and the costs reflect that. That may be a little more than one anticipates. To give u an idea, exam + eyeball thing + frames + lenses... I think it came out to $260 out of pocket. Mind you, my insurance is pretty great. Anyhow. Hope this info helps! read more

I was recommended by a co worker to check out this place and I was so content. I scheduled an appointment through the phone the lady was very helpful she said I'd receive all the paper work through txt since I was a new customer. I filled everything out and the day of the appointment I arrived 20 mins early and they took me in right away. The doctor was so nice I was embarrassed I had not gone to an eye doctor in years but she made me feel so comfortable. We did all the test I picked out my glasses and was excited to get this all done in less than half an hour. The office is so big and clean. Rigo was also very helpful he helped me pick out the best glasses for my round face and he was very delightful. My glasses were ready for pick up within a week. Was so impressed with the level of care I received! Made an appointment for a worrying concern about a blurry vision problem. Was promptly seen by Dr. Vorster and had my vision checked by the latest and greatest optometry equipment. In fact I have never had my eyes checked with digital microscopic read outs like these at other optometry facilities I have been to in the past. I think it was called OCT and Dr. Vorster was able to check the thickness of my retina and showed me the layers of the retina. I received my diagnosis and my concerns were relieved. Dr. Vorster suggested I follow up with a retina specialist to be extra careful and the ophthalmologist agreed fully with his diagnosis and prognosis. Their staff is super kind too. They never rush me, letting me take as long as I want to pick out frames. I always feel bad about checking out all the different great looking frames, since I have a tough time choosing. They just reassure me stating, "we want you to get the absolute best pair of glasses so you will love them and be super happy". True enough, as other glasses I have bought online or at big box shops tend to get loose and floppy, have the lens pop out, or even break. You can't beat the selection and you get to pick any kind of lens you prefer. My favorite lens are the rapid shade transitions that allow me to run and hike in the full sun and then go directly indoors without skipping a beat. WOW!!!!! What an exceptional experience! From the time I entered the office, I felt like a valued extended family member. I was warmly greeted and welcomed by the receptionist team and brought to the back within minutes even though I had arrived for my appointment fifteen minutes early. Everyone was great and everything was thoroughly explained to me throughout the entire process. I came in for my annual eye exam and for a possible eye glass purchase. I can positively say that in my fifty years of existence, Dr. Gilman performed the most comprehensive, detailed eye examination I have experienced! I was blown away. While conducting my examination, she simultaneously answered my questions and addressed my concerns. Dr. Gilman also provided me with options as it relates to the different types of lenses available to me and various costs associated with said lenses. When another local, large, optometry clinic would not give my 3 year old an eye exam, for not knowing all her letters, Gilman & Vorster did. This doctor has a very bad attitude and shows no respect on the phone to a new client, I'm going to guess he wouldn't speak that way to a man by the lack of respect when trying to speak to him. So glad I didn't go here yet he got $50 from me. I called the office 20 minutes after my appt time that had to be missed for an urgent phone call. I asked if I could still come and then asked for their address to see how far away I was and stated I was 12 minutes away. The receptionist went to ask the dr and he said I can come ANY time that he would fit me in between patients. She asked what time of day did I want to come sooner or later in the day, I said I would prefer later in the day. She said that's fine come anytime. It says online the office closes at 5. I was coming at 4:00 and called in to let them know I was almost there when the dr takes the phone proceeds to be very disrespectful and accuses me of saying I was going to be there in 12 minutes, He says I think you need to find another driver. I said no that is not true and tried to tell him what his receptionist said but he talks over me and says "what time was your appt today" (like he's scolding a child) ? I'm like 12:00, he says yeah and it's now 4:00. He continues to try to say I said I would be there in 12 minutes and was convinced that was my conversation with the receptionist. Dr. Gilman and Vorster are super sweet but overall customer service is not the best. My contact lenses arrived and the text said "Please call ahead of time to pick up." As requested in the text, I did and spoke with the receptionist at 4:15pm saying I would be there in 30 minutes and she said, "okay, we close at 5." Awesome! (Keep in mind , I work during their business hours and 30 minutes away.) I left work early and arrived at 4:45pm to a locked office. I called three times before leaving to see if anyone was there and no answer. At the very least, a call letting me know they were closing early would have been nice. read more

I'd like to give this place a better review but I just can't. My family have been coming here for years now only because I live right up the street. The doctors are incredibly sweet, however the girls (can't even call them women because they act like immature little girls) that run the front desk and answer the phones are incredibly rude and unprofessional. Their social skills and customer service sucks!! My wife and I absolutely hate having to interact with them.
