Rented a condo walking distance from Desert Vision last weekend so my daughter and her 4 friends could attend Coachella. I forgot my prescription glasses for driving at night which meant I could not pick them up from the venue. I walked into Desert Vision at 4:25pm on Friday as they were closing and beginning a complete remodel of the office. Kris welcomed me in and asked what he could do to help. I explained to him my situation. He said he thought he could help and waited for me to get the RX for my prescription. After seeing the RX he spoke to Sergio in the lab and LITERALLY 15 minutes later I had a very cool pair of aviator prescription glasses for me to wear for night driving. The quality of treatment and the accuracy of diagnoses. Incorrect prescriptions. I'm normally very tolerant but during my appointment the optician interrupted our testing to teach a staff member how to conduct a procedure. At least fifteen minutes passed and finally the optician told me I needed to purchase three pairs of eyeglasses to resolve what he described as minor and later said was impossible to correct. Of course the office sold eyeglasses. I felt totally cheated and my insurance company offered no other option but this practice. read more

Additionally, i have worn glasses for 50 years with out ever damaging a lens - and had glasses made there and both lenses failed... both a few months after the year warranty. Dr. Escobil had been highly tecomnended by 3 different people when I asked for the best Optometrist. In my Washington company, a tech did the vision check and the doctor only checked the inner eye. Since I have Macular Degeneration, my Retinologist does the inner eye, so Dr. Escabil did the vision test himself. It was the best, slowest test I've ever had. With slowly deteriorating vision, the differences in test lenses are very small, so he gave me second tries when I was unsure. I think he got the most help I can get with my MD. The optician who helped setting the lenses in my new frames was excellent and patient. I wanted to try tri-focals to help me better see my laptop. Chris explained all the details about tri-focals and agreed to let me get them, however when they arrived the power spaces were so small I could not see clearly. They remade them as bifocals and I can agsin see clearly. The most outstanding thing is how much better he made the vision in my eye that has Wet Maculsr Degenerstion. I will come back the next time I need new lenses. read more

I just moved here from Orange County. During my last visit to my eye dr. there, I was very sad to learn that they told me, I needed cataract surgery. My friends who live in Palm Springs said you must go see David Esquibel at Desert Vision, to get a 2nd opinion. I went there with a open mind and was so happy to learn that I don't need surgery! After accidentally breaking my glasses on the MLK long holiday weekend, I was in a panic to get them replaced. Several other opticians were closed but someone at Desert Vision answered the phone even before their posted opening hours and invited me to come in. Gerico helpfully attempted to find replacement frames which would fit my existing lenses to save some money, but when that proved impossible he lead me through their wonderful selection of frames, with a very honest appraisal of those which suited me best without rushing a decision. Rolled over on my glasses in bed and both arms broke off. I've done this before and it's usually a lost cause. While the arms couldn't be re-attached, the technician was incredibly creative and directed me to some close out frames. For $45, he was able to resurrect these glasses which I needed to preserve as the lenses were almost brand new. I've been a long time patient at this office, and went into their new location for the first time today. It's a beautiful space, with lots of lovely displays, along with places to sit, and a restroom for waiting customers. Very convenient location with lots of parking. I was greeted quickly when I walked in the door. I mentioned I was in to make an appointment, and the lady who greeted me started helping me right away. While we were finding an available appointment time, a gentleman who I now know was a technician noticed the paper clip holding my sunglasses together. He took those, along with another pair of eyeglasses I had in my purse, and brought them back to health in a matter of minutes while I checked out the huge selection of frames (from very expensive to very affordable, including a large selection of great sunglasses). I was not charged for these repairs to these glasses that I'd purchased from them. How any eye-care or health-care professional cannot accurately read an order or correctly identify a lens is beyond belief. While ordering a new pair of lenses for existing sunglasses, the associate assisting me filled out the order incorrectly FOUR times.. all while I was sitting in front of him!!! Each time I pointed out the error and he seemed baffled. I paid for the order, then afterward the person who took my payment said I would owe additional money when I picked up the final order because the associate filled out the amount incorrectly...??? When I finally picked up the glasses the same associate said, "we tried to closely match the gradation of the original lenses"... I did NOT order lenses with a gradation and the new lenses did NOT have a gradation, when I showed him the lenses and asked if he could see any gradation - he said no and again was completely baffled, even though the lens I ordered had NO gradation. This is totally unacceptable and inexcusable. read more
