First visit and it was spectacular! I had drove by this place so many times but never went in. They make the donut fresh in front of you! This is a cool experience as well. Ethan (I think that was his name) was amazing with customer service, he explained everything about the process, answered all my questions and was so helpful with everything! The first time I actually felt like i wanted to give a tip, not forced to give a tip like everywhere does now. This guy works hard and does it with a smile, I was impressed. It's been awhile since I have had a good customer service experience like this- it was refreshing. My daughter got the cereal killer donut and I got an iced Carmel machiatto- made well (it was just the perfect amount of sweet with sugar free syrup options too!). Inside is super colorful and the menu has super clear photos so you know what you are ordering. My daughter loved the wall because she got to color while we were waiting for my coffee. They let visitors color on the wall every month, then take a photo, and then wipe it off so it's fresh for the next month's customers. Overall, great experience and the donut was delicious' we also got to sample the ice cream apple pie (I will totally be back for this).

Solid donuts up in north phx! They are made fresh which is awesome - I love that they are soft and fresh yet crispy from the fryer. Service was great, booths inside are a nice touch! Would skip the ice cream pie tho. We'll be back for the donuts!

Still a pretty good donut, but the special ones aren't worth $5 based on the dmsame size for each donut. The Buckeye with peanut butter and added pecans was hot and messy.

Stumbled upon this place during a day trip and couldn't be happier. The staff took their time explaining the menu, the atmosphere was cheerful and welcoming, and the Hummingbird Harry was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Creative - The donuts on their menu are already so creative and delicious you don't even NEEEEEED to give customizations a thought - unless you're like my husband and just love putting your own touch on everything you eat & they will accommodate your customizations. 2. Very interesting and fun donut shop. With an eclectic feel and very friendly staff.. they make each cake donut by hand here with unique toppings and flavors. Came in here on a whim and was quite pleasantly surprised. I ordered half a dozen glazed donuts and they were excellent, soft, fluffy and sweet. I certainly look forward to coming back again.

The sweetest staff work here. They were very welcoming and friendly. So many choices with so many glazes, toppings, and drizzles! Go online to decide first or just visit them and staff will help you. If you are heading along the I17 and need a sugar break, or need to bring a unique dessert dish to bring to your holiday parties..... look no further. Other donut shops have an endless train of donuts sitting around all morning on the shelf which get packaged into a box when you want them. Desert Donuts makes your donuts however you want with their 80+ flavors and made from batter to hand decorated within 3 minutes.

The staff was very friendly and helped to explain the process, as it was our first time there. We got several donuts and a coffee. The donuts are a little smaller than you might expect but being fresh made and still warm elevates them to wonderful status. Great flavors and the coffee was very good as well. Definitely would recommend if you are in the area and want a little something sweet.

I have never seen anything like this place. It is such a neat spot. Donuts are beautiful. Like art. Staff is super nice. Will return (worth the 50 min drive!)

I was having an event at work and decided to grab some donuts. There were two people working both were really nice and explained that the donuts were made to order and how the menu worked. I decided to order a dozen plus I got a free one for checking in. It was a little pricey but the price matched the product! They were like little sweet works of art!!! The space was colorful and reminded me of an old school ice cream shop. Every one was hesitant to eat them at first because they were so pretty but after the first one was eaten the rest was history all that was left were a few sprinkles!

Desert Donuts is Arizona's Voodoo donuts... But fresher. Their version of the bacon maple donut is fantastic! All their donuts are made right when you order them and are prepared the way you like it. That kind of freshness makes these donut creations all on their own level. They have bacon toppings, pretzels, sprinkles, nerds, dried fruit... This place is so good! The service is top notch too! They walked us through the menu and explained everything thoroughly and well. We will be back. A lot. read more

way too over priced for the size/quality of these donuts...the banana cream tasted like the powdered donuts from hostess. the description says "banana cream"...where's the banana flavor? it just tastes like a powder sugar mixture. better off getting a pack of donuts from circle k, honestly. i really hope the owner will take this review as constructed criticism rather than come at me negatively & hostile like he did towards the other low star reviews. read more

For over 20 years, one of our favorite family things has been donut runs on weekend mornings. We love donuts. We are practically donut experts and people should pay us to eat all the donuts. That's why, when I say Desert Donuts is the best donut place in Phoenix, it's a pretty big deal. Sure, you can go to those places where there are trays of donuts desperately passing time under warm lamps, just hoping to be picked before they get stale and hard. It's easy enough to find a place where bakers take a guess at what you may possibly want, getting as creative as they can with a can of glaze, some chocolate sauce and the occasional sprinkle. But this is *not* Desert Donuts. At Desert Donuts, you get to peruse potential toppings and put together your donut like it's a ceiling and you're Michelangelo. Everyone talks about the maple and bacon donuts here, but want butterscotch glaze with toffee and chocolate chips? You've got it! Strawberry icing with pretzels and graham cracker crumbs? Check! How about pink icing with cotton candy and marshmallow drizzle? Brush your teeth afterward, but you bet! My personal favorite is lemon glaze with almonds, but the thing is, you can do you here. The best part is that, once you've chosen your toppings and fillings (there are lots of those, too!), they make your donut right in front of you. It's hot, fresh and fantastically all yours! Desert Donuts is a family-owned, locally operated business, and the family is pretty great. Their story is also pretty remarkable, but rather than me sharing that, go to Desert Donuts and check it out for yourself. You won't regret it. read more

I give them 2 stars do yo the fact my wife could not stand the type of donuts and dressings that slide and fall off the donut. She took one bite of a half cooked donuts and was over them. Went next store to Albertsons and all is well. read more

Great place, and I hope as a business you don't mistake my rating. There are some things I observed that just didn't make you guys 5. But the friendly atmosphere and the quick deliver time was awesome. The ability to dress a donut in so may way. I came to review desert donuts and I immediately thought "who in the world gives this place less than 5 stars?!" I've had these donuts twice now, but only been in once. My complaint would lie with my family who orders these and then eats them HOURS later for dessert. So I have yet to have an actual fresh donut but I look forward to going with my husband and son soon to indulge. The staff is all very friendly and they're welcoming to everyone. My toddler enjoyed watching them top the donuts and was quite eager to partake in making them himself if only he could get to the other side of the counter. read more

What a wonderful little donut shop. I was up North and was completely starving and stumbled across this Phoenix gem. I walk in and the service person was so friendly and helpful and help me try 2 or 3 different donuts and I ended up buying 2 dozen for my entire office. The smell of donuts inside of this doughnut shop were just insane. But to be honest it was just so nice to do business with people who are so friendly and helpful and nice. I was really quite happy to support a local business like this. But really the bottom line here is that their donuts are really incredible. read more

Went there as I saw a sign for gelato. They only had one gelato flavor in stock but my two companions both got ice cream. I opted for a freshly made warm donut with a marshmallow icing and peanut butter drizzle. Yum! Dangerous as now every time I am near I will be tempted! These are the best donuts in the Phoenix area. If you've ever had Duck Donuts; then you'll love these. They're even BETTER. You have plenty of choices and if none of those catches your appetite, the donut makers will custom make a donut. The folks that work there are SUPER nice and friendly. Eh. I expect to spend $5-$10 on a few donuts. Not just one donut. Nothing too special about this place. Yes, they make it right in front of you, and yes it's fresh, and yes they taste good. Just, in my opinion, not worth the extra money. In my mind, a donut is a donut. You are paying for the experience, not the product. Give it a shot. Worst case scenario, you get a donut! read more

AMAZING DONUTS! We generally get donuts from another place, but decided to change it up. Ordered a dozen random donuts and all were absolutely amazing. I love that they are made right there. There was no one donut that lacked in anything. The flavors are unique and great. My favorite is the maple bacon donut, but my co-workers loved the fluffernutter, samoa, and the lemon bavarian. We have been going to Desert Donuts for years now. But sadly we are done. Since the new owners took over the price per donut has raised to $2 and the quality has decreased considerably. The frosting is so watery and thin it does not coat the donuts anymore! They look like a runny mess. We miss the old atmosphere, quality and price!! read more

This is my absolute favorite donut place in the valley. The owner is always quick to greet everyone that walks through the door, and is just as quick to explain some of his tasty doughnut creations to the new comers. I love the family ran atmosphere. None of the staff wore masks, and made no effort to distance. Also, in my opinion, they were obviously annoyed that my wife and I were wearing masks. Additionally, the donut was very cake-like, I honestly wouldn't call it a donut but more like a donut-shaped cake. Lastly, the donut was pretty undercooked and borderline raw. read more

We Absolutely love this family owned donut shop. The employees are always friendly and excited that you're there.. cool vibes. Fresh coffee and ice tea. They have many choices of fresh doughnuts to choose from but not an overwhelming amount. (Which I like.) Fresh warm, made in front of you donuts that never disappoint. Love the chocolate cream filled and lemon bar personally.. my kids love creating their own. Also, like the new point system they just started offering! I highly recommend Desert Donuts! They're often imitated but never duplicated.. (The fractured prune has nothin' on these donuts!) Great family own shop with the freshest donuts. read more

Hello, my name is Michael. I am an Arizona native born in Flagstaff and raised in the Phoenix/Glendale area. I graduated from a local high school and local college here in AZ. I then served 4 years in the US Navy during the Persian Gulf War. I have over 26 years of experience in business ownership and management. I was inspired by my amazing daughter to purchase a donut shop. And as it turns out, I chose the most amazing donut shop or did it choose me? My daughter and I decided to answer the many requests to bring Desert Donuts to other cities and other states. Our goal is to bring a little Arizona sunshine and happy to all the states.

I was waiting for Zia Records to open in this plaza when I noticed Lucky Donuts in the corner and I just had to come in and get a couple for breakfast. This shop is simple enough where you enter, see a ton of donuts, a case full of drinks, and some other random stuff, but mostly I'm just here for the donuts. The employee working was super freaking friendly and ended up giving me a free donut because I had to wait for literally one minute for her to come up, which is 100% absolutely not a problem at all, but it was super sweet of her anyway. I ended up ordering a glaze crawler and a chocolate frosted donut as well, and I think the free one was maple glazed if I'm not mistaken. All three of the donuts were top notch delicious and I can't think of a single non positive thing to say. Overall, Lucky Donuts might just be a standard donut shop, but top notch service and delicious donuts make this place something special. Hungry? Lucky Donuts got you.

They had a pretty decent variety of donuts available, considering the time I went (3pm on a Monday). That being said, the fruit loop donut I had this time was a bit stale (more so the doughnut, than the cereal). Overall, a perfectly fine stop if you're in the area and have a sweet tooth. Just don't expect greatness.

Pumpkin spice coffee cake donut: 5 stars. This was delicious. No detractors to this donut whatsoever. Cinnamon roll: 4 stars. Pretty decent. Comparable to some of the better donut places out there. Definitely a good stop for donuts if you're in the area! Maple bacon: 4.5 stars. Bacon was still crunchy. Maple had good flavor. Great donut. Cinnamon crumb: 4.5 stars. Really good. Lots of cinnamon flavor. Great crunch. Vanilla cream custard cronut: 5 stars. Raspberry on top was lovely. Custard was delicious and well spread across the donut. Creme brulee: 4 stars. I pass thru the Phx area on business trips from the east coast off and on. Was last out there in the fall, heard some epic things about this place. Not a great experience. The staff were friendly, clean inside but the product the main event sorely lacked. I ordered a plain glaze and a chocolate. I couldn't finish eating either one of them! Take away the glazes and the donuts were too oily on the inside that you could barely taste the dough and it fell apart. It was just oily sugar. All the donuts I saw look bomb but all that polish mean nothing if you don't have a good base. No social media grabbing pics can come to the rescue. The concept is just confusing! Are they a donut or ice cream shop? If they want to compete with Dunkin in the mornings they need to slim down the offerings if any $$$ wants to be made. It--exists. Fresh made to order donuts? HECK YES! This place is amazing. You can see your donuts being made from scratch. Any kind of topping you can imagine on a donut, they have. My favorites: -PB & J (Powered donut with peanut butter icing and rasberry jelly center) -OMG (Cinnamon sugar donut with maple icing and bacon topping) -Chocolate Coma (Chocolate icing, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips) The staff are super friendly and the decor and atmosphere here is very cute. Yum yum yum!!! This fresh made donut niche that's popping up can be hit and miss, in terms of flavors. Desert Donuts is a definite hit!! I have only tried a few of the flavors, but the one that stands out the most are the maple bacon donuts. Oh my goodness. A hot, crispy and soft donut, smothered in maple glaze, then topped with a bunch of bacon. Cmon people. We we born for this stuff! I'm glad my work is almost right across the street.
