I went this past friday. My experience in not having been to this denny's is years. Oscar was an awesome waiter, attended to us very quickly, and we only waited 10-15 min for our food. So, my parents and I usually do not go out to eat and I decided it would be nice to take them out for brunch. My parents have never been to Denny's, I decided to have them try out something new. The people there were really kind but at one point we started feeling ignored. I am not sure why our server would walk right past us despite my mom trying to get his attention. When we got our food my dad got a tough piece of t-bone steak and I never got my wings. My dad tried to eat the steak despite it being tough but I got tired of seeing him struggle so I decided to get up to ask them to give him a replacement and if they put the wings on the bill to remove it. My dad did not want to be rude and nor did I and I felt rude having to get up to ask for a replacement, more orange juice, and coffee. I myself am a server and understand that there are times it gets really busy and the food takes a while to come out due to people being ahead of us. That was no problem at all. As a server, we all know that a customer should not be ignored and have to get up to talk to someone to be attended after being seated and it is best to make sure that our customer's glass to not go empty unless requested by the customer. Not sure if I will go again but if I do it might be to a different restaurant because I do not want my parents to have to deal with feeling ignored or discriminated. I am not sure if the server thought that we would not leave a tip so that is why we got ignored a lot or who knows. I will be leaving the name out of the server because I do not like pointing fingers at specific people and I know it could at times cost them their jobs. I just want to leave this review so they could keep in mind that no matter who the customer is that they should not ignore them and should make them feel welcome because I know that is what I would want that experience for my own customers. Waited almost 20 minutes just to get my drinks. 3 people that came in 5 minutes after me had drinks before I did. I feel like my table is ignored. WORST DENNYS EVER!!! Don't even bother coming here! Last Saturday night my friends and I came here for a late night bite to eat and we're refused service!! There was about 7 of us and we were sat immediately waited about 20 minutes and were told that we we "being too loud" but the restaurant was filled with people chatting and the line was long in the front??? How were we being too loud?? No one else's chatter seemed to bother this "manager" or whatever you want to call him. After we were told to keep it down we waited for someone to take or order and the same guy comes over to tell us that we will not be served at this dennys! Are you kidding me? I have never been denied service I was and still am in shock. This guy seriously needs to be retrained or just leave this place. He looked miserable and I'm sure he is cant blame him. I feel like they don't put in as much care for takeout as they would for if you were dining in. Its march 12th at about 8:40 pm When my boyfriend called to order. A Spanish sounding man had the nerve to tell my boyfriend he was talking too slow so my boyfriend handed the phone to me where he proceed to loudly exclaim "come on people" I almost lost my cool and cursed him out but I calmly proceeded to order. When I finally get the food I realize they didn't give me shrimp so I have to go back. The food was okay but not good enough for me to ever order there again. I've been living in Long Beach for less than a year. I come here about once a month. I've had plenty of opportunities to leave a review but after what I witnessed tonight, I HAD to leave a review. I get out of work everyday between 3am-4am. Pretty much the only thing to eat close to home at that time is this Denny's, McDonalds or Carl's Jr... every single time I come here, I have the same server.... Liliana. Let me start off by saying Liliana is great. She's quick, nice and thorough. But, that's not the reason why I'm writing this review. Liliana has a patience and skill that I have never witnessed in service before. Denny's at 3AM attracts a lot of characters. She oftentimes has to deal with people threatening her, or yelling at her, or giving her a hard time. She's definitely needed law enforcement assistance a couple of times (tonight, for example). Her ability to multi-task is astonishing. I've seen her on the phone with the police while taking to-go orders and closing out tables' checks. And after that, she deals with more people harassing her while she takes orders, busses her tables and runs her food for the entire restaurant. After all the times I've come here while things were going down, you would think I'd run for the hills and never come back, but Liliana always makes sure her guests are taken care of and safe... and that's why I keep coming back. Really great job guys remodeling the place and hiring security, not sure if that's just for late night, but regardless is essential for any downtown area. He was really nice too and opened the door for us entering and leaving. The server was great, wish I wouldnt have forgotten his name, but he was very friendly and accommodating. Last time coming to this Dennis horrible customer service I don't know how the owners from Dennis have this kind of people working for them.. me and my family walked in to Dennis and we waiting like 15-20 min to be seated.. we got our table like at 10:30the waitress took like 1 hr to take our order but it was just for the "DRINKS" we were ready to order food but she said no I'm only taking order for the drinks!! We never thought nothing about it so we waited to get our drinks so it took her 45min just to give us the drinks... so another hour pass and she came back asking if we needed any refills with our drinks but she still wouldn't take our order for the food so it took her another 30 min so finally she came back and took our order for the food so we were waiting again so 2 hrs pass and we wouldn't still get our food but we just dint think nothing about it because we were having a conversation.. so finally we realize it was very late and we still dint have our food I ask the waitress how much longer for our food to be ready she ignored me and just walked away I wen back to my table and I just waited i got up again and I ask her for the 2nd time how much longer for our food and she just looked at me and said "Ima go get my manager"so the manager came and said that it was still goin to take a couple of minutes for our food to be ready and we were there since 10:30 and by the time I looked at the time it was already close to 2:00 pm.. My sister and I had to seat ourselves down when we first came in. Ususally you'd expect to be sat down but however we stood there for a good 5mins and ultimately sat ourselves down. After we sat down we waited for a good 10mins and still no service. A waitress passed by us and just smiled and walked past us. This place is the absolute worst dennys Iv ever been to. The service was horrendous. It took 20 mins to get menus and water , we seated ourselves . When the food finally arrived 45 mins later it actually got worse. Dennys is not by any means a high end resturaunt, it's a cheap convenient place to grab a quick bite. When the fries came out if you grabbed one they all stuck together which means the oil they were frying in was old and dirty . I had the appetizer platter and hash browns , everything was fried on the very brown almost black. I also killed 4 ants in the booth I was originally sitting then we moved . The food was not what was expected. The grilled Tilapia look like it was fried and the bottom of it showed that the grill was really dirty. The rice was undercooked. The fish and chips plate was still with ice in the fish, so it was kind of gross. The Santa fe skillet plate was also not good at all. The place outside looks kind of clean but inside was dirty. So we go in ask for a booth on the right side as you walk in, guy says I can seat you on other side of restaurant. There was ppl on the right side and two booth available. He takes us to a table I told him we wanted a booth he says there isn't any booths. Lol I said there was two as we walked in he said we can't seat you there! Why? Had no answer. Last night was my second time here, first time was not that great just assumed it was slow because they were busy. Last night they were not that busy and it was horrible. First they took awhile to seat us, second took long to hand us menus and after they finally took our order took forever to bring our drinks and food. Our waiter never bothered to check on us or offer refills. Finally when I could finally flag a waiter down to ask for a to go box and bill they quickly brought it to us, sort of to scoot us out of there quickly. Worst Denny's experience ever.. With one waitress/hostess/cashier, one cook and a restaurant filled with hangry customers, we should have expected a terrible, dragged out meal. We came here after a fun filled evening at the bars down the street and were famished. After ordering our meal for a table of 8, we waited pass 1 hour for water and 1.5 hours for our food. It was too difficult to get a hold of the waitress after being seated and ordering. When the food finally came out, it was cold and filled with disappointment. I don't think my mouth has ever had such a sad grand slam or pancakes. What made it worst was the ghetto customers that dressed like they were at the beach with silver 5 inch heels. Some customers were dancing while waiting to be seated and others were starting fights.They were so loud and obnoxious, that we could barely hear each other talk. I came here last year with a friend one night after the bar. We walked in and were told that it'd be a 15 minute wait so we said, "okay," as we stood off to the side. 15 minutes pass and other people were being seated and so we asked if we could just take a seat (since there was one open) and the waitress rudely said "sure." We sit down and already knew what we wanted, but it was about another 20 minutes before someone came to take our order. She finally does, food comes pretty quick, and we eat. When it comes time to pay, we hand her our debit cards and she responds, "cash only." We tell her we don't have any cash and she says too bad that she's going to call a manager and we tell her please do because if the system was down, she should have told us before we ordered. Manager comes over (pretty sure he was on coke) and talks down to us and tells us if we can't afford it he'll comp it this time, but next time don't order if we don't have money. He then walks away and we're sitting there pissed off and getting ready to go when we see him walk up to a lady sitting at the counter who appeared to be homeless. She asked if she could have a coffee and he tells her, "if you can sit here and be quiet allllll night and not make a sound, I'll give you a coffee at 6 a.m." Mind you it's barely 3 a.m. or so at this point and that's just messed up. He continues making fun of her for about 2 minutes so we walk up to him and we're like "dude, denying her service is one thing, but making fun of someone and using your 'coffee power' to manipulate someone is another." And he starts telling us to mind our own business. We tell him we'll buy her a coffee (forgetting that the system is down) and he starts yelling "with what?? You don't even have money, either! everyone's homeless tonight" and laughs hysterically. then he starts yelling to the entire restaurant "fine! Everything is free tonight for everyone since no one has any money!" as he pours her a coffee. We called him an asshole and he starts calling us names and starts telling us if we want a fight we can go outside and fight him. At one point he even started singing happy birthday, I kid you not. -_- I haven't been there since, but then last night my friends wanted to go so I went with them. My husband & I went there yesterday. It sucked. The waiter (who was a small framed latino man with an accent ) after he took our order gave us our food & beverages. Then he DISAPPEARED!! My husband & I had no idea where he went, we were ready to go, we wanted our check and wanted our drinks to-go. He was nowhere to be found. We just waited there for about 10-15 minutes and seeing if we could find him but NOPE. So I got up and I told one of the waitress (she had braids and a bit bigger frame as well as kind of young looking), we just want our check because we don't know where our waiter went and also we want a water and Coca-Cola to-go. She said okay I'll take care of you so here she comes with the water & the Coke and the check she's like whenever you guys are ready I'll take care of you in the front.
