Great food NOT A GOD HONORING RESTAURANT! I had a satisfying culinary experience at islands in Long Beach with my two sons. But the decor left a lot to be desired for a God fearing family. The walls were tainted by scantily clad beachgoers. I myself felt the Devil's pull when my eyes lingered too long on a hunky Hawaiian. I even caught my eldest son Chevy ogling a bikini wearing surfer girl. We had to pray over his sin then and there which was a very uncomfortable moment to share publicly. If I wanted my sons to be tempted by sin I'd let them watch Harry Potter. God still leant me the strength to enjoy my sandy style Bluenami burger, but I can't in good conscience return to this establishment of lust. read more

Once ordering, I asked about allergy protocols and cross contact for burgers and fries, the waiter was nice and answered all of my questions. I was told the fries were safe and the burger could have a gluten free bun warmed on a separate space from the breads. Despite this I still had an allergic reaction! I do not recommend for any one with allergies. We were sat at a half booth half chair 2 seater and the chair was pushed to the side/edge of the table to accommodate my wheelchair. From the new menu updates with the fresh and perfectly cooked smashed burger and the happy hour appetizers amazing price with great quality. Huge shout out to my servers Yuri and Cam for the hospitality. Food was perfect for the weather as well, beer with cold glass to complement the draft pour and mixed drink ratio perfectly and it was on happy hour! 3-6:30! Such a waste of time. Horrible staff and management. They did not want to seat us to open tables on a sunday 7 pm. Apparently that section is closed but yet other customers are in that section. TV's are decent and it's never crowded Ambiance is what you honestly expect If ya with the kids this works. If ya alone this works but they really gotta work on the crews demeanor and energy to get this place up to par and I'm being generous because I felt like I only met one staff me ever that genuinely wanted to be there ! Stopped by for lunch and was initially sat at a handicap table. Asked to be moved to another table to allow that table to be open for someone who might need it. Upon arrival I was greeted and seated right away. The waitress greeted me and took my order. I ordered the burger lunch special with the lunch special soda. The burger and fries came quickly. Unfortunately the fries were cold and seemed to be the left over fries. Asked to have fresh fries if possible but also check on the soda I ordered. The burger was decent but nothing fancy as it was a lunch special burger and not one of their specialties. The fries and soda came and everything was fine. Unfortunately the low stars is the lack of quality for the food but also an issue with the bill. The bill charged me for fries when it came with the lunch special. The waitress was able to get it fixed but when the bill came back the soda came out to about 3.59 and it was supposed to be 2.00. She took the bill back to fix it. I'm gluten free and my family wanted to come here for dinner. Christian was our server and did a good job guiding me through what I can have and answered all my questions. I got the long border burger with an egg and jalapenos, on a gluten-free bun. I like that they use a separate fryer for the fries. We were seated quickly when we arrived. We were able to watch the first dodger game on the TV as we sat down at our table. It was nice to sit and enjoy our dinner. I've always loved Islands, but this visit was disappointing. On the positive side, our server was an absolute sweetheart--friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The service overall was great, and the prices are still pretty affordable. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. I ordered the chicken grilled sandwich with grilled pineapple, and it was honestly inedible--disgusting in both taste and texture. The fries, which used to be one of my favorite things here, came out cold. That was surprising, because Islands used to be consistent with fresh, hot food. It feels like the quality has really gone downhill, and I'm not sure what happened. We ordered three adult entres including a Hula burger with onion rings, a Maui burger with fries a kids burger with fries and a chop chop salad. I had the Hula burger and besides the mushrooms, I will say it was not memorable at all. I might in the future try other items but overall not impressed. I did like the fries but wish they had ketchup without nasty preservatives or additives. Customer service was superb and quite fast in bringing refreshments, water and food choices. I called back the Carlsbad number for two days and they never answered. I found the Irvine number, I called and they never answered. Sorry to add a very disappointing review. Lunch had dirty grill tasting lunch special. Also the fries were made with what tasted like used dirty oil and served like it was a normal plate, stomach problems followed. We chose this restaurant because it was conveniently located across from the aquarium, and we didn't want to move our cars and deal with parking again. Due to our large group, they seated us at two tables across from each other. The server had to make multiple trips to bring us what we needed, and after talking to my son-in-law, I found out she never brought some of the items they requested. We ended up over-tipping without knowing the full situation. The food was just okay--my mom and son enjoyed their meals, but the rest of us found it pretty average. I ordered a salad which was okay. It tasted a bit like stored greens, but the sauce and protein was really good. On July 1, 2026, I visited Islands Restaurant Long Beach Pike location, located at 55 S Pine, Long Beach, CA 90802, with my family. The experience I had there was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. My family ordered the: Tiki Tenders, Maui Burger (Slightly Pink/Med. Well) w/fries, Hawaiian Burger without tomatoes or onions, served with cheese fries (Well Done), House Side Salad w/ ranch, and a Bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup. When my family and I received our orders, we were disappointed in all aspects, both the food and the service. The Chicken Tortilla Soup seemed to have been extremely watered down and lacked flavour. The ranch; that arrived with the salad and later with the Tiki Tenders & Cheese Fries, had a thin consistency, like it had been watered down in the kitchen. We brought this to our server's attention after she eventually came over after sitting and having a lengthy casual conversation with another guest at a table across from us. The server then asked if I would like a refill on my soup; we let her know I would rather not. She responded that she would go see why things were tasting watered down. However, she just sent the manager out. The manager, when arrive to the table, just like the server, the manger did not introduce herself. She plainly said, "Your server said you had a problem with your food." We explained to her about the issue we discussed with the server, hoping she would at least offer to fix these issues; that never happened. The manager did not even offer to bring out more ranch or apologize for the lack of flavour and consistency of the soup. The only thing she asked was if we needed any water. After the response we received about the minor inconveniences, we didn't even feel compelled or comfortable to bring up the fact that both of the burgers we received were wrong. The Maui burger patty lacked seasoning/flavour and was supposed to be cooked medium well and arrived more medium rare. The Hawaiian burger was supposed to be cooked well-done and arrived medium well. The fries served with the Maui burger were overly salted on the bottom layer, making it impossible to finish the fries. The waiter came and checked on us one more time and asked if we needed anything. We said yes to a water refill and more ranch for the Tiki Tenders. We waited, and those items never came. The next time she came to the table, she asked if we wanted boxes. We let the server know that she never brought the items she said she would and that yes, we would like boxes. She apologized and went and got boxes and the check, and quickly walked away. Over the experience, moving too quickly, I already had my phone up to tap and accidentally tapped before reading the invoice. Knowing this, I delayed signing and tipping and waited for the server to come back. About five minutes later, she did return, and she stated she could not go back. As I have worked in other restaurants before and to fix that we just closed out the app on the Toast machine, and the transaction would not go through. So I asked her to go ask or get her manager to confirm. However, the server then went to the back and immediately decided to commit fraud; she signed off on my check herself. I know this because that is when the transaction finally went through on my phone. After this, the server did not return; she sent the receipt over with another staff member. We then stopped another server or busser on the floor and asked them to bring the manager. The manager then came out, and I explained what happened and told her that her server just signed my check for me without asking. She said she couldn't give me a copy of the signed receipt after I asked her for one. During the exchange, the manager kept taking my receipt from me as I slid it on the table towards me. In the end of it all, the manager then took my receipt as a whole and refused to return my receipt or help after I just told her that her staff just committed a federal offence of forgery and fraud. When the transaction is no longer pending, I will be filing a report with my credit card company as well as filing a police report. The behaviour displayed by the Islands staff at this location was entirely inappropriate and unacceptable. read more

Food was delicious and priced so well that I felt like I was getting away with robbery. Do yourself a favor and come to Islands on Pine. I'm excited to come back for their happy hour! read more
