Angie and Pablo were ABSOLUTELY top tier amazing! I had a terrible experience at a different location and came here to fix that. They were SO accommodating and understand of what I'd gone through elsewhere. Pablo made my food PERFECTLY. I was so happy with that first bite just knowing my meal was handled with care. And Angie was so attentive I had n everything I wanted or needed almost before I asked. Truly phenomenal employees that are really striving to provide excellent customer service. Give them both raises! They deserve it. I will be back soon SOLELY thanks to Angie's and Pablo's customer service. read more

Came in for dinner with my partner and had a wonderful dinner, made even more enjoyable by our amazing server, Alyssa! She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely charming throughout our entire meal. She checked in on us without ever being overbearing, made great recommendations, and had such a warm, upbeat personality that made us feel truly welcomed. It's clear that Alyssa takes pride in providing great customer service, and she absolutely made our experience stand out. The food was great, but her service really made the night. Islands is lucky to have her and we'll definitely be back! read more

We came here for lunch with a group of 8 and fortunately got a table without having to make a reservation. Alejandro was our server and because we didn't necessarily sit next to our partner he did a good job of taking orders and splitting 4 bills. The way he did it was be going each person a number, my wife and I were numbers 2 and 5. I got a Shorebird Sandwich that was good and my wife enjoyed a China Coast Salad with no fried noodles. We've been to many other Islands and must say both the food and service here was good. read more

Super great customer service from the host all the way to the busser. Bartender/ server was amazing with recommendations. Islands normally would not get a review but the service here was excellent. From the new menu updates with the fresh and perfectly cooked smashed burger and the happy hour appetizers amazing price with great quality. Huge shout out to my servers Yuri and Cam for the hospitality. Food was perfect for the weather as well, beer with cold glass to complement the draft pour and mixed drink ratio perfectly and it was on happy hour! 3-6:30! Makes the whole atmosphere better with the great deals. Beach super close by so definitely will be coming here again! Shout out to Yuri and Cam again! read more

Such a waste of time. Horrible staff and management. They did not want to seat us to open tables on a sunday 7 pm. Apparently that section is closed but yet other customers are in that section. Do not go here. Restaurant was maybe at 40-50 percent capacity so not like they were overwhelmed with business. read more

Came here when we saw the Happy Hour sign as we passed by to go to the nearby bank. Marisol our original server wasn't very welcoming if I'm being honest so that was a bit of a bummer. She ended up leaving and didn't bother to say anything which was beyond rude. But I guess. We ordered two drinks off the happy hour menu and two top shelf drinks and chilled at the bar. The second server Cam was great. The restaurant itself was cute, welcoming and matched the vibe of the restaurant. Cam was very nice, and friendly and made sure to periodically check on us. read more

Great food NOT A GOD HONORING RESTAURANT! I had a satisfying culinary experience at islands in Long Beach with my two sons. But the decor left a lot to be desired for a God fearing family. The walls were tainted by scantily clad beachgoers. I myself felt the Devil's pull when my eyes lingered too long on a hunky Hawaiian. I even caught my eldest son Chevy ogling a bikini wearing surfer girl. We had to pray over his sin then and there which was a very uncomfortable moment to share publicly. If I wanted my sons to be tempted by sin I'd let them watch Harry Potter. God still leant me the strength to enjoy my sandy style Bluenami burger, but I can't in good conscience return to this establishment of lust. read more

Burgers are pricey closed to $20.00 Happy Hour is their only redeeming quality with a decent happy hour menu Service sucks you always got to wave the help down which isn't never good when everyone out front looks and feels like they do not want to be there. TV's are decent and it's never crowded Ambiance is what you honestly expect If ya with the kids this works. If ya alone this works but they really gotta work on the crews demeanor and energy to get this place up to par and I'm being generous because I felt like I only met one staff me ever that genuinely wanted to be there ! One more thing have an "All Hands Meeting" to get everyone to smile change the music and the mood a place with good food should never have the sheer coldness no immediate greetings with no cheers from the mates who deliver good pints this is not a morgue. Please do better! read more

Stopped by for lunch and was initially sat at a handicap table. Asked to be moved to another table to allow that table to be open for someone who might need it. Upon arrival I was greeted and seated right away. The waitress greeted me and took my order. I ordered the burger lunch special with the lunch special soda. The burger and fries came quickly. Unfortunately the fries were cold and seemed to be the left over fries. Asked to have fresh fries if possible but also check on the soda I ordered. The burger was decent but nothing fancy as it was a lunch special burger and not one of their specialties. The fries and soda came and everything was fine. Unfortunately the low stars is the lack of quality for the food but also an issue with the bill. The bill charged me for fries when it came with the lunch special. The waitress was able to get it fixed but when the bill came back the soda came out to about 3.59 and it was supposed to be 2.00. She took the bill back to fix it. I paid and left but it left me wondering how many people did not check their bill and was overcharged. Pros- quick spot for a burger Deltas - food may be cold and you may be overcharged. read more

it's a chain so you know what to expect, but the food and service at this downtown long beach location was good even though they were busy from a cheerleading event in town on sunday. portions are reasonable as are prices, and the server we had was great, even talking with my date about her perfume and them striking up a conversation on where to buy it online. a solid choice in downtown long beach. read more

This Islands in LB is always delicious. The service is great and Christian was a wonderful server.

I've always loved Islands, but this visit was disappointing. On the positive side, our server was an absolute sweetheart--friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The service overall was great, and the prices are still pretty affordable. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. I ordered the chicken grilled sandwich with grilled pineapple, and it was honestly inedible--disgusting in both taste and texture. The fries, which used to be one of my favorite things here, came out cold. That was surprising, because Islands used to be consistent with fresh, hot food. It feels like the quality has really gone downhill, and I'm not sure what happened. I hope they get back to the standard they were once known for, because right now the food just isn't worth it, even though the staff is wonderful. read more

First time visiting this location. Attendants handed us crayons and a kids activity sheet that also included a menu for my child. We ordered three adult entres including a Hula burger with onion rings, a Maui burger with fries a kids burger with fries and a chop chop salad. I had the Hula burger and besides the mushrooms, I will say it was not memorable at all. I might in the future try other items but overall not impressed. I did like the fries but wish they had ketchup without nasty preservatives or additives. Customer service was superb and quite fast in bringing refreshments, water and food choices. Place was not busy at all, probably at 20% capacity and they were streaming the Dodgers game. Overall I like the location and will likely return. read more

I'm gluten free and my family wanted to come here for dinner. Christian was our server and did a good job guiding me through what I can have and answered all my questions. I got the long border burger with an egg and jalapenos, on a gluten-free bun. I like that they use a separate fryer for the fries. We were seated quickly when we arrived. We were able to watch the first dodger game on the TV as we sat down at our table. It was nice to sit and enjoy our dinner. Christian was a great server, very informative regarding all the gluten-free items. Make sure you ask for him. read more

Such a cute restaurant in Long Beach. We sat at the bar section and our bartender was so lovely and fun. They had a nice selection on their happy hour with foods and drinks; super cheap during that time. I got cheesy fries to grub on and they were good not stingy with the cheese like many other places. Their fun beach tiki type drinks are so delicious and dangerous you can't taste any vodka or rum. I'd come again read more

IF THIS IS WHAT THE MENUS LOOK LIKE... WHAT DOES THE KITCHEN LOOK LIKE ? Someone should care enough to clean the menus. There were two employees standing at the front talking about what they did on the weekend. Didn't stop talking at all while we stood there. One of them could have cleaned the menus. How insulting and degrading... I called the Carlsbad number, she told me to go online and give feed back. I specifically said I didn't want to speak to the manager at that location. What good would it do ? They are in charge and allow this. I start to get called from a (562). They never left a message. So I looked it up, it was the restaurant. I called back the Carlsbad number for two days and they never answered. I found the Irvine number, I called and they never answered. I guess all the island employees have the same work ethic. read more

Honestly, burgers here were either plain as heck or just bad-even for a chain. The only thing worth getting was the cheesy fries but at that point why go dine in at a fast food restaurant. Much rather go to a different spot nearby. Totally not worth the visit especially for the price. read more

Not disability friendly and not allergy safe. Seating took over 35 minutes and a reminder to another staff member because our party of two was forgotten. Parties of all sizes got Sat before us. Once ordering, I asked about allergy protocols and cross contact for burgers and fries, the waiter was nice and answered all of my questions. I was told the fries were safe and the burger could have a gluten free bun warmed on a separate space from the breads. Despite this I still had an allergic reaction! I do not recommend for any one with allergies. We were sat at a half booth half chair 2 seater and the chair was pushed to the side/edge of the table to accommodate my wheelchair. Despite this obvious reasoning, multiple staff members and patrons move the chair and made remarks during our meal. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

Sorry to add a very disappointing review. Lunch had dirty grill tasting lunch special. We chose this restaurant because it was conveniently located across from the aquarium, and we didn't want to move our cars and deal with parking again. Due to our large group, they seated us at two tables across from each other. The server had to make multiple trips to bring us what we needed, and after talking to my son-in-law, I found out she never brought some of the items they requested. We ended up over-tipping without knowing the full situation. The food was just okay--my mom and son enjoyed their meals, but the rest of us found it pretty average. Nothing exciting, just typical chain restaurant fare. I don't think I'd dine here again. 10/7/24 read more

I haven't been to this Islands since I was a kid! The place was just as I remembered it. We were sat at a booth pretty quickly. Our server was kind and gave us some recommendations. Islands Restaurant - Baja Bowl - Burgers Near Me - Long Beach, California

My out of state co-worker friend from a recent temporary assignment flew into Long Beach for the Grand Prix this weekend with his better half, and we met for dinner on Thursday evening at the Pike Outlets where Thunder Thursday was. At the Pike Outlets, they have 16 different eateries, but I was being strategic in deciding which restaurant to go to, trying to pick one that didn't have a location where they reside. I went with Islands not just because of that, but out of a possible 25 stars, my Yelp friends have given 24. Sad to say my experience wasn't as good even though I do appreciate having my parking validated so that I could enjoy the rest of Thunder Thursday and pay a lesser parking fee. I've seen Islands locations in Cerritos and Seal Beach, and I've also been to one in the South Bay years ago, so I kind of knew what to expect. Our server was Lino (sp?), and while he wasn't bad, I kind of got the impression that he'd much rather be out at Thunder Thursday than working as a server that Thursday. He was able to answer my questions about the menu with ease, but I can't be certain he really appreciated our business, even though the others may disagree. My co-worker friend ordered the Pipeline, but without the veggies since he thinks the veggies would make the burger too thick and not as tasty. Instead of fries, he went with a Caesar Salad, a premium side at Islands. His better half went with the Chicken Beach Bowl. Both enjoyed their entrees. I did enjoy my Hawaiian Burger on Turkey Patty with Steamed Vegetables, another premium side with the same upcharge, but not 100%. Lino mentioned that the steamed vegetables were just broccoli and carrots, though I wish they included a few more for added variety. However, it was a good choice for me since I'm trying to eat healthy and avoid the fries, which are the only side that do not incur an upcharge. I joked that my friend should have asked for the veggies to be on the side and give them to me to make my own salad with the steamed vegetables. Actually, now that I think about it, we should have asked if that was allowed or if that was forbidden. Worth asking though. The Hawaiian Burger consists of Teriyaki sauce, fresh pineapple, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayo. I was debating between that and another Hawaiian island, Maui, which is similar, but with guacamole taking the place of Teriyaki sauce and the disputed pizza topping. Well, pineapple may also be a disputed burger topping, at least for my burger because that and the Teriyaki Sauce made the burger way too soggy for me to eat normally. The burger got too slippery that after a couple of bites, I had to eat the rest of the burger with a fork and knife, which they had given to me. Actually, they gave me two forks. One for the steamed vegetables and one for the burger I'm guessing? Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the burger, but yikes ~$17 for a burger that was too soggy to eat by hand? I probably would have liked the Kilauea better. In fact, I probably would have gone for that, but a photo on the menu showed crispy onions in the burger, yet the menu didn't spell out crispy onions. I found that really odd. On the menu, there is a section for Local Favorites, and one of them is the Moa Kai (Tuna). The description started with white albacore tuna salad, which made me think this was a salad, but when I hopped on their ordering website, I saw it was a sandwich! Had I known it was actually a sandwich, I probably would have picked that one instead. In addition to bowls and burgers, Islands also serves chicken sandwiches, salads, tacos, and even burritos. We also got a Chocolate Lava to share, and mind you, it's *really* rich! A fudge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, roasted almonds, and a cherry on top, though on our plate, it was a cherry on side lol. While the size is pretty extravagant, the taste isn't much so. It's exactly what you'd expect after reading the description two sentences ago. There was a point where I was about to run out of water, and when Lino came by to check on us, I asked for more water. It took almost the same amount of time to get our food for him to get me a new mug of water. I thought he would have gotten a pitcher and refilled my mug instead, but I suppose that is the norm for Islands. In regards to parking, I parked at the PIke Outlets Parking Garage. I'm glad I noticed a sign at the front saying Islands will validate parking so that customers can get 90 minutes of parking for free. Pretty cool! I don't know the normal rate, but after spending over 3 hours at the Pike Outlets, my parking fee was only $6. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but some aspects missed the mark that I couldn't help but wonder if we would have had a better experience at California Pizza Kitchen directly across from Islands. Tough to say, but next time I'm at the Pike Outlets, I'm more likely to go there instead of here again. read more
