Love CFG and frequent other locations quite often. This LBC location wasn't the best experience. I ordered early on the app, protein bowl sub chicken for extra swai. Came in and was waiting for my order sitting at the counter behind the register but was waiting for the lady at the register to acknowledge my pickup order. She was confused and all over the place trying to fix someone's order which is fine but after waiting for a few mins for them to finally resolve the issue, she assisted another person with their pickup order that just walked in a minute ago while myself and another person was waiting for 5 mins or so for our orders. Got back to the office and found that my protein bowl was missing the extra swai fish I ordered, just a big empty circle where the chicken would have been. The swai fish in my bowl was also dry and burnt looking, like leftover shreds from the grill or after they took main pieces for someone taco and just gave me scraps. Their expeditor needs to really confirm what the food looks like with the ticket before bagging up. Customers shouldn't really have to double check their pickup order and get the disappointment when they get back to work that things are missing. The garlic butter at this location is awfully thick too, like mayo, and not hot and drippy like other locations which coats fish and rice much better than thick cream made more for dipping. read more

I've eaten here so many times but didn't post a review... Met up with friends for an impromptu dinner. We all wanted something healthy & a place where we can catch up while having dinner. One of the friends had never been to CA Fish Grill & was pleasantly surprised. Good portion size, good flavor, clean setting, & helpful staff. They had a long line of people ordering around 6 pm but lines moved quickly & the food came kut within a reasonable time. I like their kaleslaw & sweet potato fries. One friend got tomatoes with feta cheese as one of her sides and looked really fresh & good. Another friend got brown rice & zucchini & she really enjoyed both. We all got grilled fish plates & enjoyed our dinner: salmon, baramundi,& swai. We were able to linger & chat for a while & nobody seemed to mind. It's a bustling place but quiet enough for you go carry on a conversation. We may make this our usual spot to grt together as everyone enjoyed their meals & ease of parking & getting there. They now have protein bowls so I may try one of the bowls in the future. I like that they are continuously developing their menu & showing concern/care for their customers. read more

Tried one of the newer lobster menu items this time. Lobster roll small but tasty; bread toasted nicely and the melted butter to drizzle over it was nice. Their clam chowder is hearty, not too thick, delicious! The cajun shrimp taco had a kick even without the sauce.. The fried fish was just ok. Avocado and something more acidic would have helped. Salmon taco was pretty good, loved the dynamite sauce. Avoided the cilantro and tomatoes with all the parasite fear going on right now. The tortillas are a little thick, but flavorful. The menu has so many options- most of what we've tried has been quality fish and tasty. The staff is ALWAYS very kind, efficient and helpful! read more

I used to go to California Fish Grill all the time especially the one in Gardena. I recently visited the Lakewood location and I really enjoyed the kiosk ordering. There was a line, but it helped move things along smoothly. Kiosk were very simple and easy to use. The bathrooms and restaurant dining area were very clean and the workers seem to be very busy keeping it that way. I ordered the salmon bowl and they were very generous with their servings, and it was loaded with flavor The workers ask you if you want salsa. I remember they used to have an area where you self serve, but they don't do that anymore. You have to ask for lemon and salsa at this location. The food is generally good and a healthy fast food option. Prices are reasonable! read more

I ordered the sea bass meal with a Caesar salad from California Fish Grill, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The entrée itself was fine, but the salad was unacceptable. While eating, I found a piece of lettuce with a dark, foreign-looking spot embedded in it, something that should never make it into a customer's food. A Caesar salad is supposed to be fresh, crisp, and clean. Instead, this one showed a clear lack of attention and quality control. It made me question the handling and preparation of the entire meal. When I'm paying for a fresh salad, I expect exactly that not contaminated produce. California Fish Grill needs to tighten up their food inspection and preparation standards immediately. This experience was not reflective of the quality they advertise, and it left me with serious concerns about ordering from this location again. read more

Went here for dinner last night. I got shrimp tacos and a swai taco. They were both awesome. Got the shrimp in corn and flour, preferred the flour. Also got a side of Brussels sprouts that were very tasty! My wife got a plate with rice and corn, was very fresh and light. It's a nice setup inside a mini strip mall setting. First time at the California Fish Grill location, and probably will not be my last! Inside was spacious and busy in the later afternoon. The line moved quickly, orders are taken at a kiosk. There was a worker standing nearby to help if needed, which was nice. The kiosk was easy to navigate, and their menu is pretty expansive with different fish options, as well as shrimp and even lobster! They even have chicken options for the non seafood lovers. I chose the Cajun shrimp taco combo with a side of zucchini and tomato/feta, which also came with a drink, which I felt was a great deal! The shrimps were nice and plump, and I loved the fresh veggies and pickled onions on the tacos. They even offered complimentary sauces, lemons, and cilantro! I simply had to post this review because the service provided by Marilyn was absolutely fantastic! Of course, the food and amenities is good by default--healthy eats is hard to come by reasonably in this economy--the portions are perfect, the seafood always tastes fresh and is seasoned well. However, the cherry on top was the top notch efficiency, accomodations, and communication provided by Marilyn. Furthermore, they were on time despite the size of the order (see the receipt to show how big the order was). Been coming here for the fish and chips for several years now. Hands down they USED to have the best fish and chips big chunky pieces with a light crispy batter now it looks like they have gone to what could possibly be frozen fillets. Never have had a bad fish here. We come here every time we are in town and will continue the tradition. Fish quality and taste are always spot on. We love California fish grill! We ordered the grilled salmon with half Cajun sauce and half butter and it's always so good. The Brussels sprouts are always a hit, it's the only thing my son requests.
