Artichoke Dip
Raymond A.

Definitely worth coming back. The sourdough bread and butter were both hard and not to my liking. I missed the molasses bread and soft butter. The drinks were subpar also. Dessert flight was heavenly. The artichoke dip is one of the best around. Steak was so good with the onions, mushrooms and garlic butter. The service was decent. It was empty and dim when I went on a Tuesday but I'm sure it's live on the weekends. I'll be back for breakfast. Thank you.

I replied to an email that they asked me to but not reply back... Like I said it was a horrible experience that day not getting the kids menu and the coloring page because they said they didn't have. Then getting my salad all bad...

I forgot to take a pic of our muffins. But I can tell you who didn't forget us. Our server Leila. Just when you think she forgets about you she sweetie in. Perhaps i should as anxious because of my coffee . The food was on point. Did I mention she was the only working in that busy section. Any how nice experience.

Booths need to be wiped down better and vacuumed in the crevices at night. Some nasty stuff popping out.

Overall the restaurant was good. Our server Valeria was great. She refilled drinks, brought everything we asked for and was pleasant and helpful. Food was very good, I miss the tuna manhattan and chocolate mousse though. Well lit, but music was a bit loud which made people talk louder and they did, especially in the back room. The booths really need a good cleaning. Wipe them down with disinfectant and get the vacuum attachment, those crevices are disgustingly dirty. Dirty dishes should be taken away sooner but I thought maybe understaffing was in play for a Sunday afternoon. Overall the experience was fine, not sure if we would return though. Wait for food is always long.

I never would've thought that Mimi's would make good mixed drinks, but they sure do. This is a cucumber and mint margarita and it's really good. You should come down and try one.

It's not your grandma's French cafe, as it was known to cater to an aging clientele. We used to be regulars at the Mimi's Cafe in Long Beach, when our son was young and that restaurant was buzzing. Alas, youth doesn't last forever, and neither did the restaurant in Long Beach. Mostly for nostalgic reasons, I decided to stop by at the Lakewood branch for lunch. It's right across the street from work, so it's convenient and obvious. I was impressed by their revamped menu, and I was even more surprised by the quality of their food. The tuna melt I ordered as a part of the trio menu was tastefully and tastily grilled to perfection, and the French onion soup was better than I remembered. The soup was a bit salty at first, but it complemented well with the half sandwich. Ambiance was as I remembered, with commodious interior and cute bucolic decoration. Service was charming and efficient. It won't be my last time visiting.

Cappuccino

Cute atmosphere and the grounds are well kept. Inside is decorated very quaintly. Has a very home style appeal. I ordered a Cappuccino, and the Crab Cake Benedict, which comes with roasted house potatoes. The Cappuccino was super hot and had the right amount of foam. The plate arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and was delivered by friendly staff. The presentation was very good. The potatoes were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The crab cake Benedict was very nicely done. I cannot say anything negative about my experience at Mimi's Cafe. As a matter of fact I may come back for Dinner on another day. Thumbs up!

The food was great and service was ok. It took a while for the server to come and take our order.

It's tucked…read moreinside a business complex, but it's pretty easy to spot once you see all the people gathered outside. We were able to get seated right away, which was lucky because the place was already packed with hungry diners. The restaurant has a great vibe, almost like a modern take on a classic diner. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is friendly, and service was surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. For drinks, we ordered the Horchata Cold Brew and Strawberry Matcha. The Strawberry Matcha was really good. You first get the matcha flavor followed by the strawberry, and the two worked really well together. The Horchata Cold Brew was my favorite. They might have gone a little heavy on the cinnamon powder, but personally, I thought it was the perfect amount. You can also really taste the cold brew, which gives it a stronger coffee flavor compared to a regular iced coffee. For food, we ordered the Eggs Benedict, Country Fried Steak, and Ria's Healthy Pancake. The Eggs Benedict came with house potatoes. The hollandaise was flavorful, and the eggs were cooked perfectly with that nice runny yolk you want from a Benedict. Definitely something I would order again. The Country Fried Steak came with house potatoes, wheat bread, and sunny-side-up eggs. The eggs were cooked well, the gravy was tasty, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Ria's Healthy Pancake was also a nice change from your typical buttermilk pancake. It had walnuts and banana, giving it a different texture and flavor while still being satisfying. My only minor complaint was the house potatoes. Ours came out a little on the cold side and felt like they may have been sitting out of the warmer. I was hoping for more of that fresh, crispy crunch. Nevertheless, the seasoning and flavor were there, and that's what mattered most to me. They also serve mimosas and other alcoholic drinks, which makes this an even better option for a weekend brunch. Overall, we had a great experience. Good food, fun drinks, fast service, and a great atmosphere. Off Street Cafe feels like one of those local gems that regulars already know about. Definitely a brunch spot worth adding to your list. We'll be back!

Was fun to watch the hustle and bustle (and not-so-hustle of some). But BIG note for the manager/owner (and others who are concerned about it), almost ALL the FOH staff was chewing gum while working which is not just a health code violation but also just gross. Hopefully this gets addressed soon. I'll note, my server didn't check on us a single time. We were out of water and coffee by the time our check was dropped off. I will say, facing the back, I did see her (and other staff) go to the back and chew their gum, touch their phones, and drink their drinks without washing their hands and coming back up front (also a health violation, btw). As I mentioned, I've had good service in the past so I'm leaving it at 4-stars.

**Aloha Stacks in Cerritos**…read more This was my family's first time visiting Aloha Stacks, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The food was very tasty, flavorful, and traditional. I really enjoyed the dishes, and the menu felt family-friendly. The restaurant was very busy and fast-paced. It also seemed to be self-seating, and since it was our first time, the process was a little confusing at first. If you're visiting with younger kids, the busy atmosphere may feel a bit overwhelming. I also had a confusing experience with my drink. I ordered the iced vanilla latte as it was described on the menu, but I was first given a warm black coffee. When I explained that I ordered an iced vanilla latte, they gave me black coffee with ice. I explained again that I was confused, and another server later told me that the coffee already had vanilla syrup and that I was supposed to add the milk or creamer myself. I wish this had been explained when ordering because the menu was not clear. As we were getting ready to leave, I washed my hands and overheard some of the younger servers talking about my coffee complaint and laughing. I found that very unprofessional and uncomfortable, especially since this was my family's first visit. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, and the dishes were the highlight of our visit. However, the fast-paced atmosphere and the service experience did not make me want to come back, especially with younger children. I would recommend trying the food, but I hope the restaurant improves the ordering process and customer service.

I will say, the cakes are on the pricier side, so it might not be an everyday purchase, but for a birthday, celebration, or something special, I think it's worth it. Y'all ever order food and wonder if the seasoning took a personal day?…read more Came for brunch and got the breakfast bowl. It was so underwhelming and unseasoned I genuinely sat there confused, like... is this a prank? Did somebody forget salt exists? My honey ordered the smash burger and it was also underseasoned and overcooked. A sad little double feature of disappointment. Service matched the food. Once they dropped the plates, they ghosted. Never table-touched, never checked in. They could literally see the looks on our faces and still kept walking by like we were invisible. We ended up throwing most of it away. I only took the egg and those sad, unseasoned potatoes home so I could try to rescue them myself. The bacon? Delicious. Absolute legend. Everything else tasted like it was cooked by someone who's never met a spice rack. To the owner: please, for the love of brunch, go find the seasoning. It's out there somewhere. We believe in you.

Revisit? Definitely. Great for weekend breakfast…read more Sunrise Cafe never disappoints. It's just what a casual diner should be: delicious, generous with the portions, and efficient. I usually order the Popeye Omelet with home fries and toast. Everything is seasoned well and the ingredients taste fresh. Other things I've tried include the Chilaquiles, French Dip, Kids Scrambled Egg Breakfast with French Toast, and Posole. Everything is classic and reliably good. You'll think, wow, I'll probably need a box to-go, but somehow you'll eat it all in one sitting! Sometimes you have to write your name down at the check-in stand out front in order to get a table. But I've never had to wait too long. The servers really pay attention to anything you might need without rushing you or asking lots of questions. So I think that's how they keep the wait time short. The vibes here are just 10/10 for a family breakfast. Our toddler likes watching the model train that circles the upper windows of the restaurant. It's busy so there's lots of pleasant background noise. You can watch the traffic go by on Lakewood Blvd. Prices aren't too steep. I've ordered takeout and delivery from here as well and never had any complaints. Parking can be hard to find in the lot right next to the restaurant but can usually be found right away in the back lot. Overall, just a nice neighborhood spot to eat.
