Love this Denny's to begin with! The staff is always so sweet, friendly, and attentive! But tonight I want to give an extra big shout out/thank you to our server Carmen!! My fiance and I wanted to have a cutesy and semi-intimate gender reveal, and we both love a Denny's milkshake so we decided where better to go! Carmen and her coworker (I'm sorry I didn't get her name as well) were truly so sweet and kind to do this for us!! It only made it finding out about our baby girl that much more special! Thank you, both of you, you beautiful ladies!! Of course we will back, and we can't wait to bring our baby girl too!! :)

Biggest problem I have with this place right now is they only have one waitress for this whole restaurant. 12 tables with people at them and one waitress? Does that make any sense? I ordered the crêpe breakfast with two crêpes, two eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage, along with a four dollar cup of coffee. For another dollar I could've gotten a Starbucks great tasting coffee, this coffee is terrible! It took longer to order than I would've liked, but there was only one waitress that I saw waiting on tables and taking order. After we ordered , they brought the food pretty promptly, but the coffee was lukewarm and we had to order more coffee that was actually hot.. They made another pot and brought it to us. The lip of my coffee mug also had a chip in it which is unacceptable also, nice place for germs to hide. I'm being very picky, because I'm never coming back here again. I tried a couple bites of the crêpes, they were thin as paper and just as tough, I might as well have been eating paper. The rest of the food was fine nothing spectacular. Of course it's Denny's. I did tell them that the crêpes were unacceptable and since they charge about nine dollars for two crêpes, I expected them to remove at least that from our check which they ended up doing, but I had to make a serious protest in order for that to happen. Everything was so terrible that I did not even leave a tip, but my main tip would be get a cook that can cook crêpes properly or just shut the whole place down. I don't recommend eating here. And I certainly won't ever again. It makes all Denny restaurants look bad.

Not sure why we went back to this Dennys. Dennys off La Canada is the worse. We were seated quickly but sat 8 minutes before the waitress came and asked about coffee and water. At $3.95 a cup you would think they would want to make some money. Our food took 15 minutes to get to us once ordered while people that came in long after us got theirs at the same time or before us with the same and different waiter. Our food was like warm, and we all know what happens when you complain about an order. The ambiance is a typical Dennys. At least the place was clean for a change. I am not going to recommend this Dennys to attend.

The pumpkin pancakes are really sweet but very tasty. Also, can't go strong with eggs and bacon. I would give 5 stars but their curbside pickup has a lot of issues. Excessive waiting, sometimes they don't even answer the phone. Other than that, classic Denny's!

    Poor service

Food is food. We understand that but service is beyond ridiculous. I came for a mobile order pick up and I tried reaching out to servers but all ignored me. I waited 15 minutes until someone finally grabbed my food. Ignorant staff it seems like. I get better service at McDonald's than this. Before you ask, no it's not busy.

Come for the Matzo, Stay for the Eye Candy (and the Sweet Chef!)…read more So, I took my grandma out for dinner because she had a massive craving for matzo ball soup. We ordered, but a few minutes later, our waiter came out looking like he had to deliver bad news. He apologized and said the chef refused to serve the current batch because it "wasn't up to his standards." Before we could even process being denied our soup, the chef himself walked out to our table. First of all? The man is dangerously handsome. Second of all? He was incredibly sweet. He politely offered us tomato soup instead, but then saw the heartbreak in my grandma's eyes. He told us, "Look, if you really want the matzo ball soup and can give me 15 minutes, I will go to the back and whip up a brand new, fresh batch just for your grandma." Naturally, we waited. Since he knew we were sharing, this absolute legend threw an extra matzo ball into the bowl so we could each have two. Talk about elite customer service! It really made us realize how much the people here care about the quality of their food. They won't serve you subpar dishes just to flip a table. My grandma was on cloud nine. She officially declared it the absolute best matzo ball soup she has ever had in her life (sorry, family recipe, you've been replaced by a handsome chef).

Lafayette Beginners Diner…read more Spontaneously, decided to visit Lafayette Hotel yesterday. Walked straight towards Beginners Diner outdoor patio which overlooks the pool, it was crowded. Despite the crowds, there were a few seats available to sit and dine. Usually one must check in with the manager inside the diner, but this time the manager happened to be a few steps away and she said I could sit anywhere I wanted...YAY! I had my pup Fendi in tow and we sat down for a while to enjoy the usual cool music and be voyeurs. As with most diners, it would be better if all the selections on the menu is available to order 24/7. Many items are only available to order during particular times. It was a sunny hot San Diego day, which called for an icy mocktail, a Greek salad and small french fries. The yogurt dill sauce enhanced the taste of both the salad and fries... so good. Service from the manager and servers were cordial, attentive and friendly. A bowl of water was offered for my baby and I always appreciate that extra effort. Because of a much improved overall experience and positive vibes, it merits this review and recommend.

The diner is conveniently located right along the main street, surrounded by local shops and restaurants. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available, and we chose to sit inside. Everything was clean, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated immediately when we arrived, but by the time we left there was a small wait, which tells me this is a popular spot with both locals and visitors. I ordered the two-piece French toast with a side of bacon. The portion size was just right, the French toast was delicious, and the bacon was cooked exactly the way I like it--crispy around the edges without being overdone. I have to laugh because I started eating before I remembered to take pictures...haha! So my French toast photo is missing a few bites, but I guess that's a pretty good indication that I couldn't wait to dig in. They have two dirty high chairs and one of them was missing safety straps. The service was ok. Update: The owner's response to my review was simply, "Yeah relax." Unfortunately, that response reinforces the concerns I had about this business. Rather than addressing the issues I raised--food quality, cleanliness, and child safety--they chose to dismiss a customer's honest feedback. Reviews exist to help businesses improve and to inform other customers about their experiences. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful; I was sharing what we genuinely experienced. A professional response would have acknowledged the concerns or explained how they planned to address them. Instead, the dismissive reply speaks volumes about how customer feedback is valued here. Based on both our visit and the owner's response, I won't be returning, and I hope they choose to take customer concerns more seriously in the future.

She knows her stuff-knows how to ask the right questions so that you get what you really want. For instance, I was on the fence about having biscuits and gravy but I asked if the gravy was really peppery. She offered to get me a small taste and although it was delicious, I've been a little under the weather so I decided I didn't want anything really heavy. Instead I ordered the 3 egg scramble with their smoked ham and added cheese-it was really good and a huge serving including their potatoes and English muffin. I'll probably be able to make two more meals from this serving! My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and asked which potatoes they would be able to make the most crispy as we both like our potatoes crispy. She suggested the hash browns and even asked if he wanted them crispy on both sides which was a great way to get them the way he wanted. Those kinds of gestures really make the difference when you're dining out. The eggs Benedict and the hash browns were delicious, btw. :) Camryn had a great personality too-very friendly, bright and quick. She did a great job of checking in on all of her tables. When we go back I hope we are lucky enough to have Camryn serve us again but all of the servers seemed very friendly as well. Great job, Izzy's and Camryn!
