Here you have dining with a view, and an upbeat atmosphere. They serve standard American fare, obviously. They are very well-meaning, and I always get great service from Vanessa, I strongly believe should be promoted to assistant manager. Unfortunately, Vanessa was not my server, but she made a stellar effort to make up for what my server lacked. I let Lindsey know how much I think of Vanessa, and she said in front of her manager-in-training, Renee, that she would promote Vanessa! It's so unfortunate that the pandemic has made restaurant service so very difficult. I don't often see a restaurant whose management has made such a huge effort to accommodate their guests as this one does, so I have to hand it to Lindsey as well. This place sucks The food always takes half an hour to get to us, and we always have at least 2 problems with the food. Last time it was undercooked chicken strips and microwaved spaghetti. This time it was cold runny nachos, the. County fried steak skillet was overly fatty rubbery country fried steak, served with cold potato's it was suppose to have cheddar cheese onion and bell peppers. There were two slices of onion one piece of pepper and no cheese i could see or taste. The fries were lukewarm. I am so goddamn tired of this place. A friend recommended this Denny's because they had a New Value Menu and a $5.99 slam breakfast. I asked for the Value meal breakfast for $5.99, and the server said that do not have it anymore, so I ordered a $9.99 breakfast. On the way out, I noticed they still had the signs up for the New Value Meal for $5.99 and took a picture of the sign. I went back in and told the cashier and the server that they need to remove the signs and it is a false advertisement. They said, thank you and we will take care of it. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. My friend and I stopped here around 12:30am and there was no one to seat us. It appeared to be a seat yourself situation so we took a seat. The waiter came over and told us that the entire restaurant was going on their 30min break and they would not be serving anyone. Meanwhile, there were still customers in there eating and waiting on their checks. Being in the restaurant business myself, I know for a fact that no restaurant is going to send their entire staff on break at one time and refuse service to customers. He didn't seem to care and proceeded to argue with me in a very rude tone. I asked for a manager and he said there wasn't one there. I told him to call the manager then. Of course he went in the back and came out to say that there was no answer. (Highly doubt he even called). So I reiterate "so you're telling us that you are refusing service to any customers for the next 30 mins?" And he said yes. We got up and began making our way to the door while the waiter followed us and continued to talk crap to us and argue. It was absolutely absurd and the kid clearly did not care to keep his job. That is not how you conduct yourself ever in a customer service based industry. Absolutely ridiculous. I have filed a formal complaint with corporate because people like this, who lack integrity, should not be in the service industry AT ALL. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a late brunch after our usual options closed and were so pleasantly surprised. We both ordered grand slams and everything came out perfect! The eggs were fluffy and delicious and the hash browns were flavorful and crispy. My bf said the pancakes were great too! Coffee and smoothies were on point too! And I received my refill at the perfect time. Yeah they are understaffed and service was a bit slower than pre-Covid, but we have to be considerate. First OF ALL IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE NO STARS I WOULD JUST DO THAT!!! don't take me wrong Dennys is a wonderful place to have breakfast when you feel like you don't want to cook or for any other reason, the problem here was about an employee here. I believe her name is MARQUITA since she never introduced herself either....this is for the Lakeside Ca. Location, not sure of her name but I think that's what I saw in her badge. First all all I have been working as a General Manager/Sous Chef in multiple locations such as five star hotels and resorts casinos etc. etc. my wife has been in food and beverage industry as well for over 22 years so we extremely understand when servers get busy and we let a lot of things go with out complaining but in this particular case I have to speak up because it was really uncomfortable to be there trying to enjoy breakfast while she was next table complaining to other customers how she was having a bad day and apparently customers were making feel worse because for what she was saying it was our fault since we were so demanding and I'm taking in general like All of us customers were making her day miserable and she just went on and on letting her customers know that she couldn't wait to go home because she was tired of people again all customers making her work so much and not been able to ask for things at once that she had to run back and forth for the same customers And that she hated her job so much. We were just behind her and she didn't mind about me or my wife listening to what she was saying. First of all, if she's not happy at her job. She's at the wrong place. She's getting paid to get her job done. Whether she likes or not, but again if she's not happy she shouldn't be there. Secondly we go there to make an enjoyable experience not to be listening to her problems. To be honest she was the worse server we ever had and I been to a lot of places and she's the worse of the worse. I'm fighting stage four lung cancer myself and I'm not complaining about life my wife lost her job over 22 years because of Covid and laid off and were hanging in there. She should be thankful that she has a job. My wife left her a good tip even though she was TERRIBLE, because my wife has been a server her entire life so she knows what happens in that particular field but when things do happen she has to be professional you can't NOT let her emotions show up. We're not perfect but she has to be more trained or something. We felt really, really uncomfortable and we were even afraid to ask her for a refill for coffee since she had that BAD ATTITUDE. To be honest I'm not coming to this particular place anymore and I'm going to make sure my family and friends know to stay away from here because I don't think it's fair that even when your paying for a Meal someone can just ruin the whole experience. You should hire better employees or train your staff more efficient/professional. Never going back to this Dennys! First the server was very rude. Multiple problems with this visit. I ordered a hot chocolate for my 5 year and the server placed the hot mug in front of my daughter never said be careful the mug is hot. Forgot multiple food items. When we asked about them just walked away with our saying anything then would return with the items. Lastly after finishing my last bite of food I leaned back and noticed a small hair on my plate! My husband told the server and her response was "oh you noticed it after you finished all the food" what a rude thing to say. I've spoken to the manager Justin a few times who always agrees with how terrible door dash is. Today I decided to give it one last try and ordered for my co workers and I. WORST SERVICE EVER!! I placed an order online and I called curbside pick up to have someone bring it out and they told me that the order was not placed. There Was another lady who was working there who I spoke with on the phone and she confirm that the order was placed through GrubHub and then I proceeded to ask for someone to bring my order out to me in the vehicle. A simple request. I'm human. I asked " Can some one please bring my order out to the car? I will be waiting on spot #2... no body in the building acknowledged my existence. So I pleaded " Hello? Excuse me ladies I'm asking a question. I understand I placed the order through grub hub, I am a customer and I don't want to wait inside because of covid and I would really like some one to please bring my order out when it's ready, will some one please bring my order out - no response will some one please answer me? " Then one of the workers shouted " YUP" I left the building and walked to the shell gas station to get an energy drink and my sister had been waiting In the car to receive the order. My sister had told me when the worker came out to the vehicle she wanted to remind me that I didn't order curbside. I cannot believe the audacity. I told her I had understood I didn't order curbside - I was asking politely for good customer service and all of the employees wrote me off and didn't help me because I didn't order curbside. When I still had an online order I placed through which I believe to be curbside. If this is how Denny's employees are I will never be disrespected so blatantly again in my life. I was there around 1 hour, majority of the time she did not have it over her face, when she was behind the counter in food area and when serving customers. Hey, ok it's a Dennys, right? Not some fancy restaurant or fine dining place. But, about 12 years ago, it became a tradition to go here with the kids n G-kids on their way home after our eldest son's kids school Christmas and other programs. It's a place we know we will be able to get a table for all of us and more sometimes and there's plenty of selection to satisfy our appetites for breakfast lunch or dinner items. And it's do-able, when ur on a budget! Who doesn't love breakfast for dinner sometimes? I am usually a sucker for French toast n eggs, but the last 2 times we came (we have 5 G-kids, ...so far!) I found myself ordering the prime rib cobb salad. Yes, it's actually really good! And the meat so tender and full of flavor. Not what I expected from a Dennys. That's why I ordered it a second time. It hit the spot for me. Ok well, I also ordered some fries, too! Great idea, because it's a big portion and this family has hands that wander towards a plate of warm tasty fries! There's plenty to share and just enough for me. Looks like the healthy dinner choices are pretty good with options like various fish and salad plates. Nice to know for a diner. Well, besides the menu, we were well taken care of and even got a great discount on our ticket. It was kids eat free Tuesday and there was an online coupon. (But we just added more for the tip!) our experience both times that we have come here has not been good :( both times it has not been busy, maybe three or four tables, tonight it took us almost 20 minutes to be seated, we then waited a while for the waitress to even come take our order, when she did finally come she did not ask if we wanted drinks let alone offer refills during the entire visit, did not ask about any sauces or dressings, did not ask preferences on the items we did order, did not once come and check on us, we had to ask for silverware, it took an hour to get our food, and the quality of the food was not good.... my husband ordered their cheesy hash browns which usually have cheddar cheese on them and they came out with a slice of american cheese.... maybe they're short staffed like everywhere else, and if that's the case i feel bad but i don't know, all i can say is that we will not be returning to this location... read more

If I can rate my experience a .5 I just had, I would! Let me preface, the food was good this isn't a knock on the cooks! Y'all did good! The wait staff was absolutely terrible! It took 15 min to get a drink order in, mind you the waiter passed us at least 4 times, within the 15 min. Of us being seated. Our order was taken as soon as our drinks were delivered. The food came out promptly again the cooks killed it! And the food was actually good. However my drink was finished before our food was delivered, again it took our waiter 15-20 min to bring a refill. Not once during the meal did he come and ask if everything was good. If he did we wouldn't have to go to another table to get some syrup off an empty table. Cause he didn't bring us syrup out with our food. We had two Jr. pancake orders and a lumberjack slam. About 25 minutes into our meal our check comes out. We ordered a cookie lava cake in the beginning I look at the receipt it was charged but it was not brought out for my wife. I tell him we're missing the cookie lava cake, he brings it out and it was hard, stale, and undesirable, hardly edible. I love Denny's in general but this Denny's wasn't the best experience that I've had. My friend and I stopped by on our way back to San Diego after going to a concert at Viejas. There wasn't much open at 9 pm but we happen to share a fondness for Denny's so we were more than happy to have dinner here. Although the restaurant was nearly empty, my order still got messed up. I asked for my Super Bird, which is my favorite Denny's item, with the bacon on the side for my dogs as I don't eat pork but my pups love me even more than usual when I feed them bacon. Instead, my sandwich arrived with bacon on the sandwich and a plate of tomatoes on the side. Seeing as I don't like the flavor of bacon at all, I didn't want to just remove the bacon from the sandwich so I had to ask for a new one, which I hate doing. I then had to wait while the sandwich was remade. I also ordered a side salad with ranch as Denny's ranch has always been delicious but it seemed off to me this time. I'm hoping that the ranch hasn't changed because this one was just disappointing. read more

Ordered through yelp, when I picked up my food the pancakes were burned to the point of almost being black. They put no syrup, ketchup or silver ware in the bag. While eating the pancakes I found 3 hairs in them and eventually just gave up trying to eat it. It made me wanna throw up. read more
