My husband and I love this place! The food is always amazing! The service is always so accommodating. Keep in mind this is a busy breakfast spot so maybe call ahead and as about the wait time. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Very family friendly environment!

Decided to try a new breakfast spot today. I'll start off with the inside is nice and welcoming. Our server was nice and friendly. We ordered our food and got it pretty fast which was nice. My wife got the french toast and it was underwhelming. Definitely not sweet like french toast should be, definitely needed the syrup to even be provided with some sort of flavor. The Baja was good but lacked seasoning. The biscuit was the best part of the meal. The server came to ask us how everything was and my wife was honest and said she was not liking the french toast to which the server said oh okay and walked off. No I'm sorry, can I get you something else, etc. He came back and asked if we wanted a togo box and that was it. Definitely not the service I would expect if someone didn't like something but needless to say we won't be back.

Crusted French Toast, poached eggs, and sausage

Came here for breakfast on a Friday, the restaurant wasn't busy at all, one waitress for the whole restaurant. I ordered the crusted French toast and added blueberry sauce, sausage, and poached eggs. The French toast was awesome, sweet and still a little tangy from the blueberry. The eggs and sausage were basic. They serve diner coffee, nothing to write home about. Our only complaint was the food wasn't as hot as we would've liked. It tasted like it may have been sitting on the counter for a bit before coming back to us. One other person accompanying me actually sent it back to have it heated up. Our waitress was kind enough to discount the meal. Overall I would definitely go back for the crusted French toast, id also like to try the cinnamon roll French toast or pancakes, but I don't think I would stray from those on the menu.

What an outstanding breakfast spot!!! To start off me and my party came to have some breakfast. Upon entering this humble restaurant we were greeted by a very nice staff. Our waitress was nothing but polite and friendly. A great way to start the morning off. The entire time we were here she would always check in on us at the perfect times and made sure to always refill our drinks. Especially that coffee!!! Cleanliness here was just fine. Didn't reek of chemicals but was not scary to step on the floors. Food itself was so delicious. I had ordered the veggie scramble and I couldn't put my fork down. The flavor was so juicy and so tasty with the different veggies. Nothing was overcooked and nothing was undercooked. The toast wasn't soggy either. One member in my party particularly noted that the breakfast chorizo was one of the best chorizo she had ever had in her life. I was surprised considering she's a very tough critic. It's highly recommended to try the breakfast chorizo here!!! Overall a great spot. I have no major concerns or complaints. It got the job done with great portions and great flavors. Quality of food was there. I will definitely come back to try more from this menu. Thank you!!!

I have been coming here off an on for the 8 years I've lived in San Diego and I'll tell you......this is one of the top 3 breakfast places I've been to in Southern California. I asked if they could turn their lobster Benedict into an omelet with sautéed spinach and they obliged. The service is very quick for a crowded restaurant and they maintained a very friendly family style atmosphere These are large portions so be ready to eat or take some home and the price is very reasonable.

Aug 2025 update whatever is in the waffle batter here keeps me coming back!! They have the best pancakes and waffles, tasty, crunchy, and you can top them with nearly anything you like. I have never ever experienced a weird vibe server here. They truly have the best customer service everyone works very hard and the food tastes so fresh in each dish!! I ate first, not my camera so no pics this time!

This was The Ham and eggs breakfast
    Mike A.

So I dropped by this spot recently, and honestly, it was a letdown. The food just didn't hit the mark at all. The home potatoes were super dry and hard, and they weren't even warm enough to be enjoyable. Same deal with the coffee--it just wasn't hot, and that kind of kills the vibe when you're expecting a nice warm cup. To top it off, even the hashbrowns were just drenched in oil, which made them way too greasy, also the ham was way too salty almost taste like spam texture. The service was just okay, not super welcoming, and overall it left me feeling like I probably wouldn't come back. Just wanted to give you the heads-up.

Meat, lovers, omelette, and hashbrowns cooked on both sides

Haven't been here before, so this was my first time here. We were seated immediately. It wasn't very busy, but it smelled good. We got coffee and I got a large tomato juice, which I doctored with some habanero sauce, which was pretty spicy and but I enjoyed it. Coffee was decent served in a nice heavy mug. I ordered The Meat Lovers Omelet, with hashbrowns cooked on both sides, and biscuits and gravy. I ate every bit of my breakfast, which I don't usually do, and I have to say this is the best omelet I've had since I got to California a little over a year ago. The hashbrowns were great, and cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. Karen got the sausages, they had no taste, so skip those if you want something to taste. Overall, the breakfast was good, the service wasn't really bad but we had to ask for more coffee and some extras, which they brought eventually. Wasn't quite as snappy as I like, but it wasn't terrible either. I do recommend this place, and it's nice and quiet here.

This place is adorable, and the food is delicious! I got the border Benedict and it was so amazing! I absolutely loved every bite. Everyone in our party ordered something different and every single person loved their food! Tomas was a great waiter, and I will definitely be back.

If you are looking for home style comfort food this is the place! Huge menu with tons of choices and they are famous for their French toast! They do not serve alcohol here but there is a liquor store next door that they will allow you to pick up from and drink at your table. The cinnamon French toast is outstanding, even if you don't like French toast this was definitely a must try! The hash browns were excellent and cooked perfect! The gravy was flavorful and creamy. I really enjoyed the country Benedict it was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. Service was fantastic and fast and they came over to refill our coffee plenty! Really cozy mom and pop environment, outstanding comfort food and 5 star service what more could you ask for?

So we got back a second time and sit down to order, "Chicken and waffles please" - they are out of chicken. Oof! Strike 1. That sucks. She was disappointed but she got something else and we shrugged it off. Then about 2 weeks back we came in again... this time I asked first, "Do you have chicken for the chicken and waffles?" They are out of waffles. Oof! Strike 2! And isn't it just batter? I don't get it. We didn't stay that time because my daughter was visibly sad this time. So I think we are done trying or else this just becomes a running gag we try to get out of, like Groundhogs Day or something... Atmosphere: It's cozy inside. I love all of the details, like the wood carvings and all of the bear stuff. It's like you're in a log cabin. And I like that they have paper menus and throw them away (because plastic reusable menus are germ magnets). The newspaper-esque theme is pretty cool too. Price: It's no more expensive than say, Dennys or Ihop. Middle of the road and they have lots of options. A decent meal for two - 50$. Service: Each time we have been, the servers have been great. Nice servers and even when the guy had to tell us they were out of chicken, he was super apologetic. No complaints on the service. Overall: It's a nice place... when they have the advertised food. So I honestly don't know if we will be back or not. Maybe we will give it a shot but I don't want my daughter to be disappointed again. I get it, if it was something they only made 50 of a day, I'd understand. But... chicken and waffles? Hmmm...

There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...
