Ordered through yelp, when I picked up my food the pancakes were burned to the point of almost being black. They put no syrup, ketchup or silver ware in the bag. While eating the pancakes I found 3 hairs in them and eventually just gave up trying to eat it. It made me wanna throw up. read more

The family was craving Denny's so bad. After church, we hurried into the vehicle and made our way to Denny's. I was craving some good breakfast and an horchata shake. My family was just craving Denny's. Upon arriving, it was busy which is good for any business. We were seated and waited for over 5 minutes before someone came over but this was no big deal because I was craving Denny's and just glad to be here. The waitress Melissa was nice and courteous. She took our order and was attentive. The food however was another thing. My daughter and I both ordered the Super Slam for $6.99. The french toast bread was hard to bite into. The pancakes were super dry. I was shocked. To give an idea on the hard toughness of the french toast and pancakes....you could do damage to someone's face by slapping them around with these bricks of bland dryness. The great taste that I always remembered was not the same. The Sampler platter was a small bowl of chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, and tater tots. For nearly $10, I definitely felt cheated. The portions used to be bigger. The tots did taste decent. The horchata shake was served in a paper to-go cup. I remember shakes used to be served in glasses and the additional ice cream in a separate metal container. Those were the days. Now at $5.29 for a small cup; I definitely felt cheated. The double burger had no seasoning on the meat. My son ate a small portion and commented on the lack of taste so I bit into it and tasted bland nothingness. My wife ordered a tuscan chicken sandwich which was awesome in name only. The chicken was dry and unbearable. All in all, Denny's has definitely gone down hill. I loved this place with a passion but that has ended today. The good portions, quality tasting food is something of the past. I cannot wait to share my experience with everyone who I cross paths with. As I write this, I am just so disappointed in my experience today. I spent nearly $60 on garbage food. WOW, what a day. I accolade Denny's for hiring the meanest nastiest manager I have ever encountered for the Denny's El Cajon store off Camino Canada near the Hwy 8. As a single woman I feel more comfortable sitting at the bar alone. The Manager sneered at me from behind her large Mask and said it was closed, there is no seating available at the empty bar. I then asked for soup, and sandwich were on the menu, she really got mad at me then and declared, "There is no soup available," Ok I think maybe Ill have a patty melt, by then the crowd behind me got hostile, A woman yelled, "You are making a big deal out of nothing." I knew she was right, there was no way I was going to get any service out of this manager. The Manager was mean and glared at me. She could not provide a patty melt of course, at a cost of $12.00 plus tax and gratuity because I asked to order at her counter in her restauraunt. The crowd was growling, hostile and I knew I had no choice but to leave, before she called the authorities to escort me out of the restaurant. I was cornered, I asked for a simple meal, which was not available, after 3 or 4 more choices that were not available the way I wanted them, I knew again, as a single woman I was asking for service which could not be provided. I left and the people behind me were gleeful. I worked for Disneyland for 10 years, if i had said any of the things this woman who may or may not have had any authority at all said, I am confident that any first line supervisor would have escorted Linda Coons out of the Magic Kingdom in Anaheim immediately Given a non hire status. Instead I encourage the upper management of The Denny's to promote this woman with black hair and a large mask on her face immediately to the highest position available. She then can make any senior citizen feel terrible, and rid the Denny's Restaurant on Camino Canada in El Cajon or any other Denny's in the entire world of all the single senior citizen women that dare to visit a Denny's Restaurants to ask for Soup and items on the printed menu, or Service. read more

They have curbside pickup but no one answers the phone. When I went inside, three people were standing and talking and no ine was answering the phone. Out of the five items ordered, only one was correct. When I called to have them credit my card, I was first disconnected then had to call back twice before someone answered after the phone rang more than 10 times. This location is my haunt for when I want coffee that tastes like a rain soaked ashtray. Denny's is the great equalizer. Sticky tables, bent packets of starchy aspartame, and grizzled old men thumbing through laminated pages of meatloaf and scrambled eggs. It's the worst place for a date and the best place to eat after a night of drunken abandon, you cologne wearing Icarus you. Like Le Tigre says, "mediocrity rules, man." Lately, though, Denny's has started to offer weird creations like peanut butter and chocolate syrup pancakes; deep fried pancake balls; and even cookies prepared in a friggin' skillet. This isn't comfort food; this is stressing me out food. Too many colors and flavors everywhere. I feel like Willy Wonka had an orgy all over my plate. Just give me some regular flapjacks and a cup of Joe, I don't want to feel like I'm eating a Jackson Pollock painting. This Denny's really needs help in greeting and seating their customers. We stood waiting near the counter to be acknowledged and seated. Three people at the front desk. Only one occupied taking a phone order. We finally had to sit on a bench, still waiting while two employees talked. Then two more people came in. Younger so they stayed standing then two more people. Six of us, three sitting three standing. Finally a woman behind the counter picks up menus turns to the two younger standing people and asks them to follow her. My husband spoke up about her ignoring us, but she truly looked like she couldn't figure out what was wrong. We decided to leave. Well I suppose service is Not important at this Denny's. I was served my drink quickly. However it was never refilled. I sit through my whole meal without any drink. The pancake puppys were burnt the red potatoes were under cooked. Hey on a positive note... the toast was good. The altamate omelet well it should be called mushroom omelet. This is my favorite Denny's. This is probably the cleanest Denny's in all of east county. This Denny's also has the most patient and kind workers. I have been coming here for years and the service is usually good or atleast "okay". Tonight, however, was the worst service I have received at any Denny's. Christina our server was polite for the most part, but once other people started coming in she ignored us after we received our food. No refills and I didn't even get my toast. I had to go to the front register to get my bill and when I asked for some kind of discount they looked at me like I was crazy. Excuse me? I waited well over 45 minutes for toast that never came and not one lousy refill. When I paid I asked again for my toast to go and a refill. Let me tell you, the toast I received was burnt and not even close to warm. I am extremely disappointed. & as far as the "discount" I got $1 off. I will definitely be avoiding this Denny's from now on. read more

Denny's is great for cheap breakfast for a bunch of kids. It's not fancy, but it's edible. The service today was OK, but we did have to wait a while to get our check. This Denny's has a newly renovated feel. Wooden floors, nice decor, new menus. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The only thing I think could use some improvement is the uniforms. Okay so I don't normally go to Denny's but I was really in the mood for an omelette and the Ihop by my house is terrible so I figured we'd go here for breakfast last Sunday. The first things I want to mention is that their max capacity during covid-19 is 25% which isn't an issue. I'll take safety over convenience any day however with that being said the service was sooooo bad for not being at even half capacity which doesn't make any sense. It took 3 different waiters to order our drinks because the first two failed to put our orders in and when they finally did we only received one of the 3 waters we asked for and they forgot to add the lemon in the one water they brought to the table. They also forgot to bring my daughter's lemonade twice. Wait time for our food is extremely long which really doesn't make sense because again they're not even operating at half capacity. When they finally brought our food, they failed to provide utensils for my daughter as well as syrup for her pancakes, ketchup for our hashbrowns, and napkins for the table. We'd only finished half of our food before we decided to ask for to-go boxes which they kept forgetting to bring as well. Honestly you'd get better service cooking at home. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because they were constantly apologizing for the lack of decent service, but if not for that I'd definitely be giving 1 star. The best Denny's I have ever been too. My mom and I come here everyday with our kids and we are made to feel at home. Our waitress "Missy", goes over and beyond.
