Stopped in after trying to call in for over 15-20mins. I was greeted by Christine with a dry welcome to Denny's. I started placing my to go order and she immediately starting arguing with me about what I could not have on my Ultimate Skillet. She stated she had been with Denny's for over 22 years and had never heard of that. I had to show her a receipt from two days ago to get her to ring up my food. Her attitude is atrocious. The last time we were here everything was excellent and on point, with generous servings and the food was great; this time, despite not being crowded we waited an hour and a half for an entree that is skimpy and inedible. It was supposed to be steak and bacon with red potatos, broccoli, and cheese sauce topped with cheddar cheese. It was salt with a side of more salt. I tasted one potato and one piece of steak. They tasted exactly the same. The bacon was limp and uncooked and the "queso sauce" tasted and looked exactly like overseasoned white gravy. The dish was priced $2 more than what I had gotten the last time and was a quarter of the size. It scantily covered the skillet; when before there was an actually a LAYER of red potatos, this thing had 15 small pieces arranged around the edges of the skillet. The "queso sauce" was used to disguise the lack of other ingredients. Save your money and your time and go anywhere else. I have been here 2+ hours (my companion had an edible but not wonderful entree) and I'm leaving without eating. The ONLY good things about this experience was the waitress and the manager on duty. Foot traffic is really slow. There is only 3 tables filled mostly with couples. Service was baaaaaaaad, as in after 5-10 minutes have passed, NO one acknowledged us. There was a waitress that walked passed us 3 times to close out tickets, to grab condiments for other customers, to walk to the back kitchen, at this point we were thinking do we seat ourselves? I paid attention because we were standing in front of the register, everyone could see us from both sides of the restaurant, and we can see them. Hence, why we can see the waitress and her every move. I know she could see us, we're literally in her path to the tables, the kitchen, and the register. We waited patiently... Should we have waived service down? Maybe. But I thought if we waited this long, that after she seated us, how much longer would it take for her to get our orders? First thing I noticed about this place is that it does not have a counter. Not a bad thing if you don't mind sitting at a table. I ordered the Ultimate Omelet and a coffee. Our waitress today was terrible! She never gave us her name and had no name tag but she was in the section to the right of the door had a bun in her hair with to much jewelry. I have a allergy to eggs and every time I have been to this location I have to pay extra for something else but have alway been allowed a substitute. She refused to give me one. Took SGT Washington there last week for Father's Day. This place is disgusting. Got seated by the kitchen where all you hear is panic and cussing as cooks try to keep up with orders and old waitresses curse in frustration and in their haste bring out half made food on dirty dishes. There is no love in Dennys food. It all tastes like bland pre frozen food. It tastes like kitchen freezer. I was so sad I wasted money there. Had not been to a Denny's in years and I've only been to one nice one in all my life. That one was on Minnesota where they do all good nice. Oh. Wait. There is a good one in Rhode Island too! Save this stop for late night binge drinking wherein you can't taste the quality of the food. I ALWAYS know that at Denny's I will usually have to send the coffee mug back because some ones lipstick will inevitably be on it. This was the case in Killeen. And the server needed his hair done. There's no way he could see what he was doing with those Locs in his face. This location needs a Management and possibly kitchen rehiring. My food was nasty... Simply horrible. It smells bad as soon as you walk in...like vomit? If you must dine in, I recommend bringing some Lysol disinfecting wipes because the tables and utensils are dirty. Our server didn't even come to take our order until 15 minutes later. I was a server for 3 yrs, so for a family of 2 small children, 15 mins is a very long time. I ordered an entree with 2 sides, green beans and spinach. Our server said the green beans were discontinued but were still on the on the menu. I added a bowl of chicken noodle but had to remind the server to bring it out after all the food was brought out. She brought out a bowl of beef soup and said they ran out of chicken noodle. I have never been to a Denny's that ran out of chicken noodle at 1pm. Upon paying, they overcharged us for beverages we did not order and that took 15 mins to clear up. 5 stars for the Mediterranean Grilled Chicken meal. My sides were the grilled Zucchini and the rice. This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The grilled chicken was grilled perfect with butter and garlic and the Bruschetta topping was perfect and paired nicely with the Zucchini and the rice. And I cant forget the garlic bread. Common complaints in previous reviews are about the smell, slow service, and slow kitchen. My experience was positive. There is a smell. My server, Cheri, said it is due to a water leak from a sprinkler that seeped into the building. She also said they are getting new carpet soon. Cheri gave good service and the kitchen was not slow. I was forced to stay here waiting for a cab for about 4 hours one day after I had checked out of my hotel room at the la Quinta next door. The staff was so nice and friendly. They didn't mind that I waited. After a couple hours and a couple cups of coffee I ordered a club sandwich. Because I'm not usually a fan of Denny's in the first place. It wasn't bad. I enjoyed it, nearly cleaning my plate. My only concern was that the floors were dirty most of the time. Not a bad location. This restaurant has disappointed me on several occasions; today was no different. My wife and I continue to return hoping that a change for the better has come. We have eaten at Dennys all over the country and have been pleased at the vast majority. The Dennys in Killeen is among the worst I've seen. Today solidified their place as among the worst. We went in after lunch when business is slow. We were met by large hoses on the floor where they were cleaning the carpet. A lawsuit waiting to happen! When we were finally seated it took 15 minutes for the waitress too take our order. She was pleasant but clearly distracted the entire time we were there. My wife and I both had omelets,which were very good. The sides of grits and pancakes were good also. The problem was the customer service was terrible, From a distracted waitress who kept forgetting things and gave us the wrong ticket,to over hearing management chewing out kitchen staff. There was an irate waitress who in no uncertain terms let the intire dining area know she was "pissed" off about having to clean up.our waitress mixed up our ticket with someone else's ticket. I should have turned around and left as soon as I opened the door to the restaurant and got a whiff of the odor. Still not sure what it was but it wasn't pleasant. It was 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Restaurant was not busy at all. I was seated promptly but it was a while before anyone came to take my drink order or food order. Of the two servers that I had interactions with, one was quite friendly and professional. The other was friendly but very unprofessional. When arriving at the table to take the order, instead of asking me what I would like, she said "talk to me, Momma...." She acted overly familiar for someone I didn't know. Was just kind of uncomfortable. If that had been the extent of the negative, I would have given it three stars/circles. However, the food was disappointing as well. I ordered a "Hearty Skillet" with over easy eggs. Skillet arrived at my table with a nice sized sausage but a very skimpy portion of potatoes and veggies. The eggs were over HARD. When I pointed it out to the server she said "I can see that." Why she didn't see it before she delivered it to my table, I don't know.... And why she didn't offer to do anything about it, I don't know. At that point I just wanted to make the best of it and get out of there. That's when I noticed that the Tropical Pancake Buddies I had ordered on the side were original, not tropical and that they also were over cooked. I ate my over cooked skillet and a couple of the pancake buddies and went to the front to pay. When asked how everything was, I answered "honestly, very disappointing." The cashier replied "okay, that will be $12.47." Not sure why she even bothered to ask how everything was since she either wasn't listening or didn't care. We came back late at night hoping to get quick service and boy were we extremely disappointed. My husband asked for a caramel coffee and my friend & I ordered water. He came back much later with our water and no coffee. He said he'd be right back with the coffee . He then continued to go back-and-forth to the same table with the woman . Then he disappeared for 25mins to the back and we could here him shooting the shit with the coworkers in the kitchen I stood up and took my son and told my husband and my friend that I was leaving and would wait for them in the car. The later followed when they realized the server wasn't going to be back anytime soon with the coffee. Despicable. If you want quality Customer Service don't ever come here . We came here a year ago and everything was amazing. Today was not so great. First we had to stand and wait to be seated while our waiter was talking to a friend for five minutes. Then once we were seated our table was dirty and food was all over the menu. Our waiter didn't write our order down and then had to come back and ask because she had forgotten part of it. We ate at 11:30 and I ordered pancakes and coffee that tasted like it was all left over from breakfast and had been reheated.
