Went to Dennys this morning with my mom. Both of us were disappointed in the omelet she received. The stuffing was completely burnt and inedible. My mom ended up just eating the egg and not the stuffing. Unfortunately, you have to leave at least a one star rating, but I would prefer to have left a 0 star review. I've been to this location countless times with no issue. Not my favorite given its proximity to a sometimes sketchy Motel 6, but it's quick and convenient before we go grocery shopping. This time, my kids (17 and 2) and I get to the front desk, and it took the person working there at least 5 mins to come to the front. It was hot outside. My daughter is thirsty and asking for water. The entire place was empty except 2 tables. I noticed the server, "Janet," seemed like the only one working, so no biggie, we waited to be seated, and were then sat. My daughter and I go to the bathroom. My son remains at the table. We watched as the server checked in with two other tables then took another table's order who arrived and were seated after us without even taking our drink order. By the time she got to us, my daughter was very upset as she had been waiting a considerable amount of time from the time we walked in, then waited in line, then for her to check in on the other tables, and then take the order of a table that was sat before us even though we didn't even have drinks. When she finally came to our table, I brought this to the server's attention, and she sarcastically answered, "Yeah, sorry, but I'm here now." To boot, our table was sticky. I asked her if someone could clean it. She asked us to move to another table. Then disappeared. Frustrated for my baby daughter as we continued to wait, I went next door to the gas station to get her some bottled water. When we returned and sat down at the table, Janet came over with a cloth and spray bottle and began spraying the cleaning liquid directly on the table as opposed to on to the cloth. The spray went everywhere. I asked her not to spray the cleaner in front of the baby's face and onto the table. She responded, "See, I told you! I told you to move to another table." I said, "Now I feel like you're playing games with us." By now, I wanted to get my kids their food they wanted and leave. Another 15 mins passed- still no food. As my teenage son was preparing to leave for work himself, I asked for my check and the food to go. Janet asked me if I was going to leave or wait for the food. I again explained that I wanted to pay for the food and take it to go. She began saying "Next time..." before I cut her off and said that she should work on her customer service given she left us waiting with a young child with nothing but menus and silverware while she visited with other tables and took a table's order who was sat after us. Not to mention instead of spraying the table with solution next to the baby (and us) she should spray into the towel first, but most importantly have some manners and not be condescending and rude. She laughed me off, and said that when I asked her why she took the other table's order ahead of ours given we were seated first and didn't even have drinks that I made her nervous. By then, I was completely angry and over the whole situation. We left with no food, and my son went to work without eating given the length of time we wasted there. Of note, the other tables were Spanish speaking and looked like what one might imagine is a person of Latin decent. Although my family and I do not appear Latin, we are and we speak fluent Spanish, which I said. She responded, "That's good for you." I believe this person's ignorant actions may have been driven by underlying discrimination given her tone, presentation, and engagement with the others were completely different than with us. Server was not wearing a name tag. When asked her name, she said it was Janet. Could be something completely different given our interaction. Lastly, the place was filthy especially the bathroom. We will not be back, and I will ensure others know about our experience too. Totally unacceptable. If you call to speak to a manager, you'll never get one on the phone because no one ever answers no matter what time you call. read more

What has happened to the service at this location in the last year? They don't answer their phones anymore, get orders wrong quite often. My son ordered a plain bacon burger, bacon, beef, bun only. When placing the order, they confirmed PLAIN 3 times, including saying NO CHEESE. When my son opened his burger, it had cheese on it. How tough is it to get a burger with ONLY bacon on it, NO condiments, NO cheese, even after they confirm the order with us MULTIPLE times. This location has gotten that order wrong multiple times in a row. From now on, we will be going to the Denny's in Fremont, instead of the Denny's in Hayward about 3 miles away. I ordered online. They estimated 28 min for delivery. After 1 hour I called 7 plus times, back to back to Denny's. Every time I called they would simply hang up. I decided to go in person (so much for delivery breakfast in bed). As I was pulling up to the parking lot I got a call from DoorDash. They stated they could not locate my address, then recanted and clarified they could not locate the business. They simply canceled my order. I walked into the Denny's to speak to the manager and asked her why are they hanging up when I called continuously. I could see the phone ringing off the hook and she was just ignoring the calls. She told me my order was already picked up, I told her door dash just called me stating otherwise. She went to the back and found my soggy food that had been sitting there for over 1.5 hours. Their All American Slam and strawberry shake are always good no matter what day or time. I guess because it's the easiest to make? Lol. He stand behind the register, did not even approached us and started asking who is the one that ordered Spaghetti out-loud that other customers waiting heard it clearly. After taking our orders, i asked her on how refund work for online ordering for dennys and we explained to her what just happened to us and immediately she was very emphatic and apologetic on what happened, i showed her all the email and receipt we got from the other store.
