Anyone ever had the late night munchies? This Denny's was the only restaurant that was open late at night. I dragged my friend out of his house to get food with me. To come to my surprise, the service was exceptional at this location. Our server, Jesus's first day on the job and he did amazing! He made sure me and my friend were catered to and given that we came in at 3 AM on a Friday night. I wouldn't expect that we would have a great breakfast service at Denny's. read more

What has happened to the service at this location in the last year? They don't answer their phones anymore, get orders wrong quite often. My son ordered a plain bacon burger, bacon, beef, bun only. When placing the order, they confirmed PLAIN 3 times, including saying NO CHEESE. When my son opened his burger, it had cheese on it. How tough is it to get a burger with ONLY bacon on it, NO condiments, NO cheese, even after they confirm the order with us MULTIPLE times. This location has gotten that order wrong multiple times in a row. From now on, we will be going to the Denny's in Fremont, instead of the Denny's in Hayward about 3 miles away. Went to Dennys this morning with my mom. Both of us were disappointed in the omelet she received. The stuffing was completely burnt and inedible. My mom ended up just eating the egg and not the stuffing. Unfortunately, you have to leave at least a one star rating, but I would prefer to have left a 0 star review. My mother went to pick up the order and they had no idea what she was talking about, explaining different names mine or hers it could be under. Burger and pancake family combo and still nothing. I ordered online. They estimated 28 min for delivery. After 1 hour I called 7 plus times, back to back to Denny's. Every time I called they would simply hang up. I decided to go in person (so much for delivery breakfast in bed). As I was pulling up to the parking lot I got a call from DoorDash. They stated they could not locate my address, then recanted and clarified they could not locate the business. They simply canceled my order. I walked into the Denny's to speak to the manager and asked her why are they hanging up when I called continuously. I could see the phone ringing off the hook and she was just ignoring the calls. She told me my order was already picked up, I told her door dash just called me stating otherwise. She went to the back and found my soggy food that had been sitting there for over 1.5 hours. I've been coming to this location since I was a preteen with my mom and I always get the same thing every time. Their All American Slam and strawberry shake are always good no matter what day or time. I guess because it's the easiest to make? Lol. My bf ordered their country fried chicken and this time he said it tasted different (but I think that's coz i finally introduced him to Texas Roadhouse's country fried chicken). I've been to this location countless times with no issue. Not my favorite given its proximity to a sometimes sketchy Motel 6, but it's quick and convenient before we go grocery shopping. This time, my kids (17 and 2) and I get to the front desk, and it took the person working there at least 5 mins to come to the front. It was hot outside. My daughter is thirsty and asking for water. The entire place was empty except 2 tables. I noticed the server, "Janet," seemed like the only one working, so no biggie, we waited to be seated, and were then sat. My daughter and I go to the bathroom. My son remains at the table. We watched as the server checked in with two other tables then took another table's order who arrived and were seated after us without even taking our drink order. By the time she got to us, my daughter was very upset as she had been waiting a considerable amount of time from the time we walked in, then waited in line, then for her to check in on the other tables, and then take the order of a table that was sat before us even though we didn't even have drinks. When she finally came to our table, I brought this to the server's attention, and she sarcastically answered, "Yeah, sorry, but I'm here now." To boot, our table was sticky. I asked her if someone could clean it. She asked us to move to another table. Then disappeared. Frustrated for my baby daughter as we continued to wait, I went next door to the gas station to get her some bottled water. When we returned and sat down at the table, Janet came over with a cloth and spray bottle and began spraying the cleaning liquid directly on the table as opposed to on to the cloth. The spray went everywhere. I asked her not to spray the cleaner in front of the baby's face and onto the table. She responded, "See, I told you! I told you to move to another table." I said, "Now I feel like you're playing games with us." By now, I wanted to get my kids their food they wanted and leave. Another 15 mins passed- still no food. As my teenage son was preparing to leave for work himself, I asked for my check and the food to go. Janet asked me if I was going to leave or wait for the food. I again explained that I wanted to pay for the food and take it to go. She began saying "Next time..." before I cut her off and said that she should work on her customer service given she left us waiting with a young child with nothing but menus and silverware while she visited with other tables and took a table's order who was sat after us. Not to mention instead of spraying the table with solution next to the baby (and us) she should spray into the towel first, but most importantly have some manners and not be condescending and rude. She laughed me off, and said that when I asked her why she took the other table's order ahead of ours given we were seated first and didn't even have drinks that I made her nervous. By then, I was completely angry and over the whole situation. We left with no food, and my son went to work without eating given the length of time we wasted there. Of note, the other tables were Spanish speaking and looked like what one might imagine is a person of Latin decent. Although my family and I do not appear Latin, we are and we speak fluent Spanish, which I said. She responded, "That's good for you." I believe this person's ignorant actions may have been driven by underlying discrimination given her tone, presentation, and engagement with the others were completely different than with us. Server was not wearing a name tag. When asked her name, she said it was Janet. Could be something completely different given our interaction. Lastly, the place was filthy especially the bathroom. We will not be back, and I will ensure others know about our experience too. Totally unacceptable. Why were the bathrooms out of service? I am on medication that makes me pee often. There should have been a sign on the front door apologizing for this. The server's response was "we are waiting on a plumber". Why not have a port-a-potty in the back of the restaurant? I no longer like to eat here at night. In recent years, the diner has been short-staffed (another review mentions this too). My dad and I had dinner here on Saturday (we were busy earlier, and so we came in around 11). It was pretty busy inside, but we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated (2 people almost cut in front of us, but the hostess knew that we had arrived first). Our server was friendly, but slow to get us some more napkins. She could have also placed a to-go order sooner (my dad was nice enough to think about my mom, and he told our server when we ordered about the extra meal). Still, for someone new, she's pretty solid (the meal for my mom featured a few items, and it was wise of her to box them separately). Some teenagers were sitting near us. This one guy was good at staring off into space, and I wasn't sure if a group of 3 teenagers had just come from a prom or a Halloween party. o_O www.dennys.com: You can "join Denny's Rewards to receive exclusive offers and the latest news delivered right to your inbox." There are some new items at Denny's. I comment on 2 of them below. Note: All prices include tax. *New* Blackberry Orange Twist ($3.15): 8/10. "Vivid color. Vibrant taste. Blackberry and orange flavors unite with ice-cold Sprite® to create a delightfully citrusy berry taste." My drink was actually pretty light in color and taste. Still, it was fairly delicious and refreshing. I even asked for a refill. Chicken Strips ($8.16): 7.75/10. They're normally better. We received 5 nicely-sized chicken strips, and I was given a lot of BBQ sauce on the side (my dad doesn't like BBQ sauce, and so he cringed when our server asked us if we wanted the sauce "on" the chicken strips). Our chicken strips were also meaty and hot. The problem, though, is that they were overcooked. They weren't super crunchy or anything like that, but I was a bit disappointed with how they tasted. BYO (Build Your Own) Slam: My dad received a lot of food for only $7.07. His eggs looked great (I was tempted to ask for some), and, as usual, he received a big bowl of oatmeal (I don't know what else he ordered). Double Cheeseburger (normally $10.89, but $12.61 if you want Seasoned Fries and Bacon): 8.25/10. I wish they gave you more bacon here, but my strips were meaty and delicious. My patties were juicy and pretty thick (I love the burgers at Denny's, and had been craving one earlier). I received a nice portion, but my seasoned fries were a bit overcooked. Some of them were even stuck together like they were making out and about to book a hotel. My bun was a little charred (they're normally better). *New* Red, White & Blue Pancakes Breakfast ($7.62): "Two buttermilk pancakes made with blueberries topped with sliced fresh strawberries, cream cheese icing and whipped cream. Served with two eggs cooked to order, hash browns and your choice of two strips of bacon or two sausage links." My dad asked for bacon, and the eggs were over easy. I was tempted to order this myself. Anyway, my mom was pleased when she ate her food on Sunday. We finally left after midnight (we were here for over an hour). We had to wait over 15 minutes for our food (thankfully, the meal for my mom was ready in about 10 minutes). It also took awhile before we received the bill. IF I COULD PUT NO STAR, THIS SHOULD BE A NO START REVIEW!! My fiancé and I place an order online through Dennys app at 8:50pm and as per order confirmation our order should be ready by 9:10pm. We got to the store at 9:15pm and we notice there is party happening at the back, so waited a good 10mins before we been attended. The server asked us the name for the pick up, after giving my name he said doordash pick up is being prepared by 9:25pm, i then informed him that we did not ordered through doordash but at dennys app itself, and he simply said its the samething. So we seated and wait patiently. 20mins after at 9:40pm I asked for an update and still the same server informed us they are preparing it and should be ready soon. At 9:50pm a different server saw us and asked if she could help us, so we informed her that we are waiting for our order, she checked the kitchen and came back and told us for the 3rd time that our doordash order is being prepared! Comes 9:52pm the server that help us in the beginning approached there store Manager Onkor(i believed thats his name) and we overheard them talking and saying that they do not have any meatballs for the spaghetti that we ordered. At this point We are getting very furious already. He stand behind the register, did not even approached us and started asking who is the one that ordered Spaghetti out-loud that other customers waiting heard it clearly. The server that help us pointed us to him, still he did not left where he is standing and just talk to us loudly saying they do not have meatballs anymore, and ask what do we want instead. We informed him We wanted a refund and he simply told us your payment will go back to your card and u will get a notification on doordash about it, i tild him i want the refund now and he simply said he cannot process the refund since its ordered online. this made us very furious and more upset given the situation that they put us in, waited for a good 40-50mins and keep informing us that our food is being prepared and they keep insisting we ordered through doordash despite the fact that we informed them multiple time that we ordered through dennys.com, we left the store empty handed! So my fiance and i continued on getting our food and went to another dennys store in Mowry,Ca. We entered the store and we were greeted and assisted right away. Donna who was actually the store manager assisted us. After taking our orders, i asked her on how refund work for online ordering for dennys and we explained to her what just happened to us and immediately she was very emphatic and apologetic on what happened, i showed her all the email and receipt we got from the other store.
