    Chocolate Lava Cake

Pretty busy for a Saturday night during a pandemic. Our server was odd. We were well taken care of he just seemed distant and distracted. I could hear the couple behind us complaining he forgot their ketchup and milk shakes and he took care of it and didn't charge them for the drinks. We were just out looking for some dessert and found the greatest chocolate lava cake. Huge scoop of vanilla ice cream too. All for just 3.99. Stayed away from Denny's recently as they cut back a lot of their meal options. But as of this last Wednesday the full menu is back and looked good. Can't wait to visit again.

Denny's is one of those chain restaurants that is national but different everywhere you go, even within the same region. For example, the one on the Blvd in Niagara Falls has terrible service but the food is always good. The one on Maple in Amherst is inconsistent with their portions and prices depending on which server you get. And the one on Camp in Hamburg is really slow. BUT the server today went above and beyond to make us happy!! Thank you, server Lucas S.!!! When we arrived, the two ladies running the cash register and seating guests seemed to need a Valium; the brunette especially. The blonde was impersonal and confused gathering names for the waitlist while the brunette was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. When asked how long the wait would be, she said "not too long". What does that mean? One persons perception of not too long may be 5 minutes while another person's may be 30 minutes. Her response was too vague. When asked to clarify she told the guest it would be 15 minutes; that guest left. I guess 15 minutes was too long from his perspective. After a 10 minute wait the brunette hostess called my party of three to be seated. When we approached she said "oh wait, let me go find a table". So now we had to stand at the counter waiting instead of comfortably seated as we were. She eventually came back and seated us in server Lucas' booth. Lucas had a rocky start as our drinks sat empty for a while, but once he got us our first refill his attentiveness increased. The wait for food was longer than usual but he came to the table twice with updates of how many tables were in front of us and approximately how much longer it would be. I greatly appreciated this. He helped us maintain expectations instead of allowing us to sit there wondering. Way to go Lucas! Next, he brought out our food and everything was great! The country fried steak and grits were perfectly cooked! Kudos to the cook! When Lucas brought our bills he explained the pricing to us and he explained that Mike would be taking over for him since he was going on his break. I appreciated this a lot because everyone deserves a break but if you don't tell your guests they will just wonder where you disappeared to. He did well, again, maintaining our expectations. Now, Mike never came to check on us while Lucas was gone, but it's okay. We didn't need anything and Lucas checked with us upon his return. Overall, this experience was great because of Lucas. We haven't had him as our server there before, but will ask for him from now on. His service is what made this review 5 stars instead of 1.

RAW CHICKEN we ordered the fried chicken and the chicken was disgusting it was slimy and extremely undercooked.

Visited The Poked Yolk today with some friends, and after finally trying it, I can completely see…read morewhy everyone talks about this place. The food was amazing and the service was honestly great from start to finish. I got one of their May specials, the Mexican strawberry French toast. It was stuffed with strawberry cream cheese and topped with fresh strawberries and a kiwi drizzle. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. Every bite was sweet but balanced, not overly heavy. I also ordered a side of home fries and turkey sausage just to try them out, and both were really solid. The home fries were crispy and seasoned well, and the turkey sausage had great flavor without being greasy. Two of my friends ordered the dulce de leche pancakes, which were another May special. I stole a bite and immediately regretted not ordering them myself. They were fluffy and sweet with just the right amount of caramel flavor. I already know I'm coming back later this month to order a full plate for myself! Our other friend went with the caramel banana Belgian waffles. I did not try them, but they looked incredible. Everything we ordered looked great and tasted just as good. The portions were generous, and for the amount of food and quality, the prices were totally reasonable. Our waitress was super friendly and stayed on top of everything, even though it looked like she had a lot of tables. The food came out pretty quickly, and it was fresh and hot when it hit the table. We had a great experience and I'm already planning on coming back. If you have not tried The Poked Yolk yet, you are seriously missing out!

I came here because I was in the area and hungry. It was packed even at 10:30 on a Tuesday…read moremorning. Parking lot was full. They have booths, tables and a small counter. I don't really understand why everyone loves this place so much. It's certainly fine. The food is good. But nothing about this place makes me think "can't wait to come back". I'd go back if in the area looking for breakfast, but not make a trip out of it. Parking was easy.
