My mom loves Denny's. If you ever wanna see a skinny-@$$ 70-year-old woman clean her plate, take my mom to Denny's (or for Italian. Man, can that woman put away some spaghetti). I hadn't been to this location yet, as the Merritt Blvd location in Dundalk is within walking distance, but my mom lives closer to this Essex/Waterview location so we went here for lunch before popping into Target to feel old. I think my mom told me a story, a while back, that she and some other family members had visited this location when it first opened and it was a fiasco - including someone wearing a drink when it was spilled all over the table. I didn't know if she'd want to return after that experience. Personally, I hadn't been in this building since it was a Ruby Tuesday's, and my aunt was there, which means it had to have been at least a decade ago. The restaurant is clean and absolutely empty, but with this new paradigm where restaurants only hire maybe two people to run the whole place during lunch shift, our waitress was running around like a chicken with her head cut off even though we were truly only the third table of people in the restaurant. She forgot our drinks and claimed she was so forgetful because they had her "running the register, too" - for who? Is this a spirit Denny's? Are there customers here that I don't see? Do ghosts just totally crave a short-stack? What's going on here? So I ordered a bourbon bacon burger cuz it's my favorite, but I got an avocado bacon burger. When I told her "This isn't what I ordered" she gave me this weird, "I called it the wrong thing. " Yeah, that's great and all but *I* didn't. But I love avocado and I was starving and how do you reason with such illogical disorder? But, truthfully, the bourbon bacon burger is better. I brought half my sandwich home so I can fix it up the way I like it. The boyfriend had a double burger (which he finished) and a pot roast sandwich that came with jus (which he had to remind the waitress that she needed to bring) which he said was "better than expected" but when the waitress dropped off the take-away containers, there wasn't a container for the jus so he was forced to leave it behind. I can get a burger anywhere. And my mom can get some eggs at the Double T, so I don't think we will be returning. One and done. read more

What you see is what you get. I'm not really sure if this location was a replacement to an older sports bar, but that is how it appears. As if this is was a sports bar and Denny's was the next "best" replacement. Small food (at least breakfast) options to choose from, and smaller - what I think are common need items were not in stock - including apple juice. Dinner bread and butter very tasty and the was cooked to perfection. The fries were hot and crispy. Spent $53 on a meal that was definitely not worth it. Instant mashed potatoes instead of the red skinned mashed potatoes they say. They didn't have Mac n cheese. They didnt have the smoked bacon and only had regular for the samdwich. Our server wasn't even a server. They had him serve because the person who came in didn't show up. Tyler was good. He tried his best to keep up with his 6 tables. He was the only server and host. Poor kid was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. The ambiance was quiet, of course it was 12 am. Denny's! It's "America's diner" right?! Right? It had been awhile, and our son was hungry so we went for it. I mean, why not? It's cheap, adequate, and it wasn't busy so it should work right?! Right. So... ...seated promptly in a very clean dining room. Drinks came but oops, forgot my coffee (never brought it), and were all out of creamer so it was specialty creamers only. Oh, they did bring my wife a coffee, I guess I wasn't allowed one. The food came. We didn't have silverware, so we asked and the response was, "oh, did you want some?" Ya think? The food we ordered was actually cooked very well. I think a raise is due for the kitchen staff as they seem to be the only ones doing a good job. We weren't allowed any napkins though so it was a little messy. $17 for three breakfasts though, so that works I guess. I stopped in for some breakfast to go. The staff was masked and gloved and hand sanitizer was available at the door. There was a sign at the entrance with a QR code for the menu. I scanned the code to viewed the menu. I ordered the omelette and hash browns to go. I then paid on my phone and was out. Very smooth transaction with minimal interaction. As for the food, the omelette was well cooked and very good. Not quite as good as Endy's down the street, but comparable. The hash browns were equally hot and delicious. Definitely above average for a Denny's. Overall, a good experience. I'll update with more info when things improve and I can sit inside. read more

Was hoping to have a better review for this place... Half tables/booths are empty but staff is running around very unorganized. One amazing waitress running around working while some are chatting in a corner & another waitress is talking to her friends & eating food off her plate. I waited 20 mins just for a drink order. Hoping the food is better .... Update ...changed rating from a 2 star to one star...when a cook tells a server to serve toast that's black & clearly burnt & the chicken breast on sandwich is 40% smaller then the bun it's served on I'm done. Came here because it was a new(ish) Denny's and thought it was a beautiful night to take a drive. So the drive was great, Denny's was not. I'll admit, the interior was fresh and new, but smelled like it was mopped and cleaned with dirty water. We decided to try it out anyways, because there was no way that could be what happened. Although we were seated immediately, I watched several people wait over 5 minutes to be seated. Our food took over 35 minutes to come out, and both of these things can't be blamed on the crowd, as there was only three other tables and maybe 5 or 6 servers. I ordered chicken tenders, which were the skinniest little things you have ever seen. I mean, actual finger size. Our server barely checked on us, other than to bring us food and our check. The manager just walked around aimlessly. Oh, and a big pet peeve of mine is when someone in service complains about another customer, which is what I got an earful of while paying for the bill. It's not my business and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when you complain about someone else. read more

Ruby Tuesday's finally moved out! Yay! We've been wanting that awful restaurant to be gone for years. A new Denny's taking over has to be better.. right? Well.. not so fast. Like many of you, I also hated the service and quality Ruby Tuesday's gave its guests. So I was excited to see a new chain come in. But, after 2 visits during non peak hours, I am left disappointed in the new Denny's. It's new, so it's pretty clean and the decor is modern. There's plenty of parking and it's located in a nice shopping center. But just like the previous tenant, you'll be waiting a LONG time for your order. After both visits with no more than 5-6 tables in the restaurant, I waited an hour each time for my order. Even waited 10 minutes for a waitress each time to cone over for drinks. Quality of food is good and waitresses were nice but it was kinda sad they had to keep voluntarily comping food and apologizing for the cooks and extreme lack of management. Diner food of burgers and chicken tenders should never take an hour. No excuses. Butttt I never complained nor was in a rush so I quietly waited to my meals with my guests and laid my head down a time or two during the long waited. I occasionally watched waitresses fixing guests orders as they were coming out the kitchen wrong. I'd hate to see how they operate during busy peak hours like weekend mornings. I'll give them another try or two but get it together Denny's. read more

We went here on 10/20 with some friends just after lunch. The place was pretty much empty. Server didn't bring any silverware. We ordered some nachos and drinks to start. Server forgot 2 sodas and brought water. We ordered food and they were out of a lot of basic stuff like hamburger buns and some other small menus items. How on earth do you run out at a big chain restaurant. Our food came finally but our other parties food was delayed by about 5 minutes (breakfast food, we had burgers). We asked about the nachos and the surfer was like "oh man I'm sorry I forgot" like really?!! We just told them to forget it. This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants. Let me start by saying I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants. However the food is always great, the service is excellent, and you just can't beat the price. It's probably the only restaurant I go to where an entire meal is under $15. The grand slam was literally $7 and I took half of it home. Sometimes after a long night shift I'll come here to enjoy a meal and decompress and it makes my week just that much better. I haven't been to another Denny's but I've been to this location many times and I'm always impressed. read more

So frustrated and will never go back here again! Ordered a new item on the menu, came out completely wrong the first time, along with cold fries. Sent it back and came back out and still wrong. My husband was done eating for at least 15 minutes before my meal came and after I asked for a manager they let me know that they didn't have all of the ingredients for the dish. I asked why I wasn't told that when I sent it back the first time, she said the waitress didn't know. Then why would the kitchen not tell her that in the first place? Service is so bad. We have been here for 2 hours and still no food. We were seated pretty quick and then the fun began. We waited 20 minutes and had to ask for a server to come to us. We placed our order and then the wait began.... it is currently 2 hours and no food. People seated after us are now eating and we still wait. The wait staff is so disorganized that they are constantly bringing wrong food to tables. Oh and did I mention this is the second time here with the same results. After a talk with the manager the food came out in 15 more minutes. This location won't be around long if they continue to do this. It's a shame, it is a great looking Denny's. read more

Okay number one: I saw a cockroach walking by my foot the minute I walked in the door my first time going there, I told a server and she just shrugged her shoulders as if It wasn't a big deal. Second: the servers in this Denny's (besides one girl named Alyssa) are extremely rude. I work for Doordash as a delivery driver. Every time I get an order to pick up from this Denny's, they make me wait at least 45 minutes for my order to be ready. They already hate me because I ask them to do their jobs instead of sitting around talking.. last time I delivered for them, they gave me an Uber Eats order (100% on purpose). I'll call it my fault for not checking the order. I could have gotten a bad review from them giving me the wrong order.. but I didn't, I still have my 5 star rating and still got paid the full amount AND got free food. So I guess Thanks Denny's? Next time I have a delivery for them, I'll just speak to the manager instead of the rude servers. read more

This location opened on 2/26/18. It's a welcome replacement to the overpriced and stuffy Ruby Tuesdays that was formerly at this location. I am also glad that we have a diner/restaurant in this area now. The inside is beautiful and brand new. The menu has a little something for everyone to big piles of pancakes to healthier salads. Our family of 4 ate for $40 including a tip. Fast food runs cost about the same. The only drawback was the service, but since we went on opening day I refuse to be too harsh. We had 3 different servers and it took over 30 minutes from the time we ordered our food until we received it (which was tough two hungry kids). As long as the service improves, we will be regulars. read more

Lets start this review off the the worst part. My mother is a handicap. She was waiting to order her food before heading off to the bathroom. Which she couldn't get in or out of because of the door being to heavy. Before she went to the bathroom the waitress told her rudely she couldn't sit there because if the fire department would come in they would get a fine. If she would of waited she would of transferred to the booth. Then we order our food and everything is wrong. The waitress had to go back twice. Then I order a take out my wife is allergic to lettuce and tomato & what a surprise (NOT) there's not only lettuce tomato . but the whole set up is on there . when I asked got nothing but the burger bacon and bourbon sauce. This has happened more then once. Will not be returning. Rather go to the dundalk 1 at least they get my order right !!! read more

Decided to finally check out the new Dennys. Was extremely disappointed! Waited for 10 minutes for no one to take our order. There were 5 seated tables in our section (and 6 empty) with 3 waitresses, but not one ever approached our table. I went in search of the hostess or a manager, but could find none. My husband convinced me to wait a little longer, but I started listening to the conversations at other tables and could see their frustration of not yet receiving their food, so we finally left. I was really looking forward to trying out the eggs in a basket too! As we left, I noticed that the lobby was full of patrons waiting to be seated. There should have been no wait as there were plenty of empty tables available in all areas. What a shame - they will also fail due to bad service just like Ruby Tuesdays did in this same location. read more
