We have lived in Calimesa for13 years been coming to this Denny's since they opened but after today we will never be coming back. We came in for lunch after being seated the waiter came over I asked for kids menus for my 2 granddaughters ages 10 and 9 he responded immediately with "I cant do that it's only for 9 and under " he never asked their ages just assumed they were older. I told him they always order from the children's menu he again said no. So we got up to leave as we were leaving he was at the register with the manager and they both just stared at us as we walked out it was very uncomfortable. Always made to feel insignificant as a customer here. I've eaten here 25-30x's. My last time here we were seated and just left to help ourselves? We waited about 6-7 minutes. Only 4-5 tables with customers. Four employees discussing how to hang a sign. When we got up to leave they smiled and thanked us for coming in. Not even noticing we were never served. If I could I'd give this place 0 stars. I loved Denny's so much but after my experience this morning I will never go back to one. The waitress specifically told me. They serve FRESH strawberries I kid you not. The strawberries on my pancakes were practically rotten. They tasted as if they where sitting there for days. Plus she neglected my table. When I went to pay I asked if I could have a discount on my pancakes since I didn't touch them because of expired strawberries. The manager came and started arguing me stating the waitress had gone to our table many times asking if our food was fine. Like no she did not, she was so caught up talking to her friend who came to visit her at work. My wife made an online order for the Calimesa Denny's. She ordered multi grain pancakes. The ordered went through correctly but it didn't charge the additional 99 cents. They said they couldn't fix the multi grain pancakes unless we came in and payed the 99 cents. She said her manager would fire her if she did. When I came in, they had not started the order. I said nevermind , give our money back. She then called her manager (Vradi Yates). She told me her manager said they could not do that since the order was made online. This would have been an easy fix. But because an employee is afraid of being fired over a 99 cent charge , it became a big inconvenience. I will drive 5 miles out of my way to Yucaipa or Beaumont Denny's where they know how to treat customers. read more

Ok, location, location, location--and that is all. We have tried it 7 times...it is convenient to where we live. The first 1-5 times, I thought this is 'bad' for any Denny's (but it is Denny's). I blame myself...I thought the service would improve or the manager would hire better line cooks...not so. I have paid way too much for greasy food, breakfast, lunch, or dinner...I think the worst was a new item that looked like a steak sub. It was grizzled beef and nasty. The server would not take it back because I took one bite. She whined and I told her politely, "We come here because it is nearby, but never again." She scoffed. I paid the bill by ATM and she said "What is my tip?" I said 3 dollars...but I will not be back. Worst experience of customer service at a Denny's. The night waiter had to be told by the manager I was there even though there was only one other table with people and they were leaving. When the waiter brought the menu I ordered from what I knew from the Value Menu without looking-the Classic BLT. I asked to substitute fruit for fries. He said no. I told him all the Denny's I've been to(half a dozen in L.A.) they all would sub fruit or soup for fries. He said no. I said will you bring the fruit instead of fries. Also ordered coffee. He made a fresh pot and service was slow with me the only one there now. He brought the BLT & fruit(no fries)-same as other Denny's-great! Slow at bringing coffee refill.Then came the bill. BLT, coffee plus $2.99 for the fruit! I questioned the waiter. He said this is a franchise, we don't substitute, it's on the menu(in faint letters & I never looked at the menu when I ordered) and it's extra for the fruit. I said then I want the fries. He said no. I said get the manager. She came with the same story-no fries but if you want them you will be charged about $4.79 for the fruit! I told her the waiter never said when I ordered they follow what is written on the menu & the fruit would be extra. So I asked to take $2.99 off for fruit since the waiter did not clarify when I ordered. She said no. I told her this is bad customer service when the waiter did not clarify and then surprised with the charge for fruit on the bill. And I said so you want to buy bad advertising about your bad customer service for $2.99? End of story. I paid and left after telling this manager I will never return! Be advised there are many other Denny's besides this one in Calimesa where you will be treated like a human being and a valued customer. read more

Worst service I've ever had. Stood at the cashier for 10 minutes waiting to pay. Was never even acknowledged. When I finally said something, the teenager started yelling at me. Asked for the manager. When he came, teenager was still yelling at me and the manager said NOTHING. Classic of how this younger generation thinks we owe them something. Stopped for lunch about noon. They were not too busy place was clean, immediately seated. Asked about AARP discount, told they honor it. Wife ordered bacon-cheese burger w/onion rings, I got Super Bird Sandwich w/seasoned fries. My sandwich was very good/tasty, fries were better than most fast food types. Wife loved her Burger which was very large, so much she ate it all, but barely touched her rings, even though she said they were also very good. We brought the rings home to nibble on later. Horrible experience from the start. Nobody greeted us when we walked in. Later an Asian waitress came and put us in a booth that wasn't big enough for our party so we asked if we could go to a bigger booth on the other side which was empty and she said "no you have to sit on this side because I'm the only waitress and it takes me awhile to go to the other side" I told her we were ok with that and that we weren't in any rush she then said no you can't sorry and brought us menus. I wasn't going to eat my dinner while sitting on the very edge of the booth almost falling off so we got up and began to leave. The lady at the register (blond older lady) didn't even look up at us or apologized or even say bye she just continued to count money she was taking out of her apron. Very rude and unprofessional. This is the second bad experience we've had at this place. Never going there again. Instead we drove to the Beaumont one where we received excellent service! read more

This is a very good Denny's! Very clean, and inviting. I've eaten here twice now, once when it was a little slow, and yesterday when they were packed. Both times we had excellent service. It's been a few years since my last visit to a different location so I think the menu is way better than before, and I liked it before. I had tried their "fall dinner meal" which was turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, etc, and it was delicious! Then yesterday I had the country fried steak and eggs with pancakes, also amazing! Great coffee too. There are a lot of great diners in the Yucaipa/Calimesa area, and it looks like we'll be adding this one to our list of favorites for sure. read more
