Perfect breakfast spot before a trip to the Grand Canyon! We arrived at 8:00 AM and had a great experience. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious, especially the country fried steak and potatoes. My son also gave the Nutella crepes two thumbs up! A little pricey, but definitely worth a stop.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking up to Sammy's feels like stepping back in time. Greeted at the front door by a life-sized Big Boy statue (see my pic), you immediately get the sense that this place is a true throwback to old-school Americana.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the vibe is that of a traditional, straight-up diner--no frills, just comfort.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sammy's delivers exactly what you'd expect: honest, unpretentious food in a casual, welcoming setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is impressively large--there's something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for breakfast, burgers, or classic sandwiches. I've included a few pics of the menu pages, but there's a lot more where that came from. I went with breakfast: three eggs, hash browns, and sausage patties (see my pic). The food came out quickly, and everything was hot and well-prepared. The eggs were cooked just right, the hash browns had that golden crisp, and the sausage was hearty and flavorful--nothing fancy, just good, solid diner food. My wife opted for lunch and ordered a half Cobb salad, which you can also see in my pic. The ingredients were crisp, and the salad was exactly what she wanted--simple, tasty, and satisfying. Service was efficient and friendly, matching the easygoing feel of the place.

What a great find along the way to and from Palm Springs off I-10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love old style American diners, and this new restaurant captures the fun with bright decor and lots of booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat by the windows in the atrium section.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is huge as are the servings so we had a hard time choosing with so many favorites offered. My husband I congratulated ourselves for our choices. My egg sandwich with cheese was perfectly grilled and served with perfect hash browns. His turkey sandwich was made with real roasted turkey and nicely grilled on the same delicious bread as mine. Service was prompt and friendly. We have added this place to our must-stop list.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Sammy's Cafe is a family run and family oriented restaurant that occupies an old "Bob's Bigboy" off the 10 fwy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are friendly and helpful. Very attentive. The menu is huge! Lots of selection. Everything we had was well prepared and presented as well as delicious. The prices were very reasonable as well.

Definitely recommend this place! We've been here a couple of times and the customer service is always on point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is super clean, which I really appreciate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm usually a little skeptical about spots that use the same setup from back in the day, but here you can tell they keep everything fresh and well-maintained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good, and I really like that they offer a buffet on the weekends. This place definitely deserves 5 stars! You can see the owner is putting in the effort to earn business, and I respect that.

Today's is Mother's Day and my husband took me here to eat. Sorry to say the food was not edible I order crepes and they were the worst i have ever seen to be serve. The waiter thought is was funny when I brought it to his attention, he did not bring syrup or butter poor service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was clean and spacious family place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Friendly service, good breakfasts and the turkey melt was tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean and nostalgic spot on the road.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Chile relleno and tamal. Tamal was so much masa! It was also dry. Chile relleno was tasty.

A few weeks ago, I drove by and saw a sign that heralded a return of a restaurant to the space formerly housing a Bob's Big Boy. I was surprised to see the Big Boy statue still in the parking. (I was even more surprised that it was unscathed, not tagged up or vandalized!) I stopped today for a late lunch. I had read about people complaining about service. I did not encounter that at all. I was greeted right away and led to a booth. She came back shortly to ask if I would be more comfortable at a different table. I very much appreciated that offer. She checked on me frequently, but not obtrusively. There were maybe 10 tables, when I came in, which is a good sign for a late afternoon lunch. The menu is enormous. There is a mix of typical American diner food, like meatloaf, sandwiches, salads, but there are also multiple Mexican offerings. I asked for an iced tea. I got my tea, plus a basket of freshly-made tortilla chips and a small bowl of a watery salsa. The salsa wasn't as chunky as I like, but it had a good savory flavor, not hot. I opted for a combination with a tamal and a chile relleno. I was brought an enormous plate with an enormous tamal. Sadly, the tamal was mostly masa, with a little bit of dry shredded pork. I liked the sauce that was served over the tamal, but it didn't add much moisture, so I used the leftover table salsa. The chile relleno was much better. It had a large amount of Monterey jack cheese and a fluffy egg exterior. A ranchero sauce covered it. The rice was super moist, but didn't have much flavor. I liked the refried beans, but they could have used just a touch more salt and a little more fat, preferably lard or bacon grease. I left satisfied. I want to try some of the diner food. Much of the interior decorations and seating is original to the Bob's franchise.

Great service, food was good. I got the breakfast burrito which was a good size and my wife got French toast that she enjoyed as well. Will definitely be coming back

The only reason it caught my eye was because our tax preparer was just down the street. It was obviously well loved by the locals after reading their great reviews and seeing a full parking lot. And this was on a Wednesday. We only had time for a quick bite, ordering nothing out of the ordinary. A quickie breakfast of sausage, scrambled eggs, and pancake, were all we had, but everything was nicely done. The pancake was big, light and airy, served with a carafe of warm syrup and a huge scoop of butter. The scrambled eggs were moist and fluffy, the sausage was basically a Farmer John sausage patty that was properly warmed but not overcooked, and very good tasting. My only criticism was the coffee being too thin for my liking, but keeping our coffee mugs filled was something they definitely did well! The service was wonderful. They knew we were in a rush, and handled us with TLC the entire 35 minutes we had. What I do know is, I will be looking forward to our next tax appointment, hah, knowing our morning will start off right here. Next time...chicken fried steak, or maybe a bowl of hearty homemade soup, y'all!

That said, my favorite dish is still the skillet with turkey, avocado, and bacon. It's a solid option and probably the one thing that keeps me coming back to give it another shot. They've changed the decor slightly over the years, and there's a nice little gift shop section right as you walk in, which adds some charm and gives it a cozy feel. The owners have a dog named Chai and struggled to find coffee shops that allowed dogs, so they decided to open their own... and that's how Chai Coffee Shop was born! You can definitely feel the dog-loving vibe everywhere, from the décor to the fact that pups are actually hanging out inside. Within minutes, one of the dogs came over and licked my toes (unexpected but hilarious ). It's such a warm, welcoming environment where people and pets can just relax. The ambiance is perfectly balanced bright and social up front, with a quieter, cozier section in the back if you want to read, study, or work. I had the cold brew, which was fully customizable. I told the server I wanted it sweet, and she nailed it! so delicious! I also tried their pumpkin cornbread (not quite pumpkin bread, not quite a muffin, but so good). They even have a secret menu I haven't tried yet, but I definitely will next time. Their espresso machine was temporarily down when I visited, but it didn't bother me at all, plenty of great options regardless and should be back up by Wednesday. Prices are super reasonable and right in line with other coffee shops, but the vibe here is what really sets it apart. It's cozy, dog-friendly, and just genuinely joyful.
