I typically order the Balsamic Chicken Salad which I have always counted on for having chicken which has been marinating in balsamic vinaigrette. Very disappointing experience. Made reservation which was lost. Waited 15 minutes for a table, then was given a throwaway table which was in the direct path of EVERYONE in the restaurant. Constantly jostled by patrons (many unsupervised children ). LOUD, boring canned music.At one point,the manager carried a chair directly over our heads. Even though this place is mostly overpriced bar food, it seems to be the only place that is always packed in a sleepy downtown. It used to be just a small deli/takeout place that seemed to have a very good relationship with the locals until about 8 years ago, when it expanded to a full-service restaurant and bar. The restaurant itself is very nice- it gives you a modern, Manhattan kind of feel. The staff is very friendly. The food is pricey but it's decent. I usually order a chicken wrap with fries and it is always very fresh. Their cocktails are good too, but a couple of times they were extremely watered-down. read more

My first time there, service was good, food was not. I ordered Chicken Francese and the pasta was so over cooked and the chicken had no flavor I could not taste any lemon in the sauce at all. I'm doing the 'ol review update on this one. I actually prefer the Bedminster location over this one, but Berkeley Heights is a little more convenient for us to get to. Therefore, we end up here more often. It's kind of a pain in the butt to get to as it's located in the back of a strip mall and there isn't a ton of parking. The bar here is much smaller than the Bedminster location but they still have a ton of beers on tap - about 25+ or so with a great craft selection. The reason I'm bumping this place up another star - their Buffalo Wings. They were amazing. I can't believe I had never tried DH's Buffalo Wings until this past weekend, but that's how the cookie crumbled. The wings were phenomenal. I do consider myself to be a wing connoisseur. I prefer breaded wings as opposed to naked wings (think Hooters style). These wings were breaded and came perfectly sauced. And, they were huge. A ton of meat on each wing - not those puny wings a lot of restaurants serve. The other thing that makes the wings here great is the blue cheese. It's a homemade blue cheese and it had a lot of nice chunks. I still prefer my blue cheese slightly more chunky but this is some of better blue cheese I've had. All in all, I was completely impressed and surprised about how good the wings are. I can easily say these are the best wings in the area - hands down, no question. If you're a fan of breaded wings, you must give this place a shot. They were also reasonably priced at $11 for 10-12 wings. I've also become a huge fan of their chicken milanese sandwich. It's a breaded chicken cutlet sandwich on a Portugese roll with fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, arugula and some red wine vinaigrette dressing. It's an awesome sandwich. The only slight knock I have against it is that they use a Portugese roll and not something else. Personally, I think a nice, soft Italian roll or some ciabatta bread would be awesome. Fries are usually very good, as well. You can't go wrong with this sandwich at all. The only other thing I'm a little disappointed with at DH are the salads. They aren't very good and I do like eating a dinner salad from time to time. I had one on a recent trip and it was pretty much all chicken and barely any vegetables. It wasn't that good. But...I like this place a lot and my wife and I have been coming here a lot more frequently recently. It's a really cool place to chill out and have a beer but the bar area can get incredibly crowded. Prices are slightly high for the type of fare they serve but the food is very good so I'm fine with that. Service can also be hit or miss but it's usually pretty good. I'm a fan. read more

We had an ok dinner experience at Delicious Heights (maybe 2.5 stars) but I'm not sure if I'd go there again, based on the menu, pricing and service. It was a busy Saturday night and the place was full. Maybe that was the reason it took so long for one person in our party to receive his soup and then a significant delay before we received our entrees. The menu covers everything from sandwiches to full entrees, but we weren't terribly impressed with the taste/quality of our food. One person ordered the steak salad and it was literally a piece of steak on the side of the plate and a pile of iceberg lettuce. No attempt at all to make the dish look attractive and it was surprising to see iceberg lettuce! The waiter was very quick to give us our check when we declined dessert, but then disappeared (so I was glad I had cash to leave instead of waiting to pay by credit card). read more

I've been to Delicious Heights several times now, since I live in the vicinity. I think the food is very good and fairly priced. They've got quite a varied menu, to please all tastes. They also have some really nice drinks, such as a berry martini with fresh berries! Yum. I have always been satisfied there, but one thing I must say. I don't particularly care for the way they have televisions set up in every room. It is an upscale pub and sports bar, but I'd rather dine in a room without a TV. It can become quite noisy, particularly in the bar area on a Friday night. If you're looking for good American fare with nice drinks, then you should try it. read more

Pretty inside. Didn't realize they had tables outside until we were leaving. Air conditioning too cold even for a hot summer night. Appetizers were good for high school kids -- reminds me of a TGIF or Houlihans, in terms of menu. Too many options on the menu and too small to read. I want to like this place, I really do. The bar is great for a few cocktails and also has a great beer selection. The ambience is better than average. The food, however, is not. Many of the dishes are loaded with sugar or ingredients made with sugar. The sauces may as well be maple syrup. I've been there for the last time. The service has never been great at Delicious Heights, but last night it hit an all time low. We were seated and then ignored for more than 10 minutes (not exaggerating, I timed it) - no drink order, no water, nothing. I spoke to the manager and he attempted to make it right by offering to comp our meal, but they'd already demonstrated my business didn't matter to them, so I declined and left. This is tough to write because this place used to be a favorite. It was great when it first opened as a take out only place. It was consistently good food & good value. I was excited when they opened their sit down restaurant & in the beginning, they kept up their standards. Over time, it has steadily declined. we thought that maybe the take out suffered from the popularity of the sit down restaurant. As an example - the take out reuben pannini that used to be excellent, turned into a cold, soggy, sandwich with cold, unmelted swiss cheese. I thought that it might be better in the restaurant. It was a little warmer but the cheese was still not melted and they forgot the sour kraut. Their other meals were equally disappointing. Great restaurant. Have been going here since they opened in the little strip mall before they moved to their current location. Food can range from classic comfort foods to new twists on old favorites. Owner and staff have always been great and appreciate their customers. They even came back with a dish they messed up on a delivery once and we even didn't ask them too. It shows they take pride in their work. Only compliant is once I really like an item on their menu, they take that item away. But they also tend to replace it with something as good, just different. Try the pierogies, trust me. read more

Delicious Heights might be one of the worst names I've ever heard of for a bar/restaurant, but the food and atmosphere more than make up for the poor name. The bar area has a comfortable lounge feel, with a couple leather couches in one corner and high-tops tables spread throughout. The stonework on the wall by the bar adds a nice aesthetic touch. There are tv's everywhere (including in the restaurant area and above booths), so no matter where you're at, a game is right there for you to watch. They have an extensive beer menu (though most are bottle and not in preferable draft form) and the requisite martinis and specialty drinks. The menu is quite diverse from more upscale items like steaks and seafood to more typical bar type food like burgers and wraps. The standout items are their appetizers. The spinach & artichoke dip is thick and creamy with a healthy amount of cheese mixed in. The chicken fingers are amazing and the honey mustard sauce is among the best I've ever tasted. The nachos are basically a meal unto themselves are generously loaded with toppings. The Guinness bacon cheeseburger sliders are extremely inventive and ridiculously delicious. The Black & Tan onion rings come with the before mentioned honey mustard sauce as well as a sticky and sweet bourbon glaze that is almost as good. read more

Always a good time...Older crowd most nights

Let me start by saying we will return. We enjoyed our meal and the food was good. My rating is due to spotty service and some of my food was cold. I think it should be a simple thing to serve hot food on a hot or at least warm plate. The plate was cool when it was served and my spatzle was cool also. If you want to eat here you MUST make reservations. We arrived at 6:15pm and people were already waiting. We were told it was a half hour wait, no big deal. People with reservations were coming in and being seated, understandably. A couple with a young child ahead of us finally left and others coming in the door turned right around and left. We waited 45 mins and it was just a party of two. The music is far too loud and you had to talk loud or shout. I have to say the food and service was very good, but not to wait 45 mins and then have to music blaring and couldn't have a peaceful meal or a decent conversation. I don't like the loud "bar" atmosphere in a dining area and I would not recommend DH just for that reason alone. When we left my ears were ringing because it was so loud. This review is for take out. I picked up country salad for $17, missing from salad but mentioned in menu description: walnuts, bacon, avocado, bleu cheese - pretty much the reason I ordered it. I've tried to like this place, I really have. After getting food poisoning there last week (the sickest I've ever been in my life) - I HATE it. The food poisoning was in addition to many other bad experiences I've had there - we found a piece of a wire scrub brush in my daughter's food one time. Servers weren't as attentive as other restaurants in the area but maybe that's because we went at the beginning of dinner service and they were just starting their shift. Fun location for an after work happy hour, although you can't reserve tables in the bar area. The candy cane martini, a seasonale martini was a big hit with our group. The bartender made a few for our group and then pour some into individual shot glasses so we could also enjoy a holiday toast. The service is always excellent and they are very attentive to your time constraints if you let them know you are in a bit of a hurry. Went there last night (Tuesday) and our server (Mr. McGuire) was so slow. The table top was sticky and the menu with the specials was crinkled and dirty. I had my plate moved to the side when I was done eating for over 20 minutes before our server finally wandered over to see if we would like our food wrapped up. Never offered water and I was thirsty. My food was good though not hot, so it must have sat for a few minutes waiting to be picked up. My wife's (some chicken wrap) food she said was just ok. Great atmosphere and decor, good food, but the service does not translate. The quality of the wait staff varies like any other restaurant of the same caliber, but the hostesses especially, are rude and act like they are doing us a favor to take the time to accommodate us. What a fantastic restaurant to spend an evening, either on a date or with the family; the facility can accommodate either, or. Additionally, upon entering the restuarant the staff makes sure you feel warm and welcomed. Not just with their greeting, but with their expedient service (at the door, the table, and the bar) and excellent style of accommodating all clientele. They aided me with the fine and extensive menu and I ordered the perfect meal for my cravings and apetite. This place used to be one of my favorite places. It's a nice semi-upscale place to hang and watch sports since they have a lot of TV's and the big menu allows you to get whatever you're in the mood for. But I have to say, ever since they opened another restaurant in Bernardsville, the service and attention to detail at this location has gone downhill drastically. They food's not reliable. They have a spinach dip appetizer that used to be delicious but the last time I ordered it it was cold and instead of warm pita bread, they threw a few tortilla chips on the plate. They have also raised their prices, no doubt because of the initial popularity of the place. They had a cheesesteak on the menu the other day for $15! Management better realize quickly that this restaurant is NOT in Manhattan and right the ship here before this location suffers dramatically. read more
