Old glory is my favorite restaurant of all time. The waitresses are kind, warm, and always make sure your drinks are refilled. When it gets busy service is slow, but it's not their fault. They make sure your food is consistent and tastes the same every time you go. I love watching their chefs cook. Ambiance is great, it's a little old timey diner that has no bad food. Everything you order will be good. I recommend the 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pancakes, and the corned beef hash. My sister also loves the avocado toast. I've been there at least 15 times. Food was OK but the place didn't seem clean. There was mouse poop on the floor in the women's room!!!! The door was sticky as was the sink. Gross! Not sure when the bathroom was last cleaned! Makes you think, if they can't clean the bathrooms for the breakfast crowd, I imagine that they are not cleaning the kitchen too well either! We will not be returning. read more

Their menu lists "homemade corned beef hash" as a side. So I figured on going to try it, and ordered the hash and eggs. I don't know if they have a side where they actually make it from scratch, but I was served typical fare, nothing homemade. Overall, the experience was typical. read more

Their cozy little establishment offers a nice atmosphere for a relaxed diner-type of vibe with its small tables, open kitchen, and inviting ambiance. One of the unique aspects of the restaurant is that it's BYOB, so we were able to turn it into our own little boozy brunch! The service was impressively quick with a hard-working staff that pretty much stayed on their feet the entire time. The menu boasts a wide selection of breakfast options, perfect for those who enjoy starting their day with a hearty meal at a price that isn't going to break the bank. The food itself was solid, leaving no room for complaints. The space was great. Clearly a sense of history here. Service was a bit mediocre as the team really did not know how to cover our table. Finally one of the waitresses came over and helped (I don't think it was her table). I had the prime rib and wife had a salmon entree. Both were just on. For the price and establishment I expected more flavor and a better overall experience. Not bad, just not enough to inspire a return trip. read more

Nice little restaurant in a strip mall. They've got their outside area setup very cute. The food was better than I expected. I had a Florentine omelette, home fries & rye toast. The omelette was cooked perfectly, not too hard. Hubby had french toast, eggs over easy & homemade hash. He did say the hash would be better if it was cooked harder. The little one had a pancake with powdered sugar. She devoured it. The staff is so nice & friendly. We'll be returning to this happy little place in New Providence. read more

I've been going here ever since I was a little kid. The staff is mostly the same to this day and the food hasn't changed either. Everything breakfast related is delicious and inexpensive. My lunch favorites include the cheddar-burger (never had one with cheese from the crock anywhere else) and the Shepard's pie. Open faced sandwiches are awesome too. There are a lot of places to sit and I've never had to wait more than a second for the waitress to clean up the table. Had lunch here yesterday. $9 and change for 2 people.. you can't beat that. read more

My apologies for any bias, but I have been coming here for 20 years. I am well traveled and this is still the best breakfast I can get in the country. I have had nearly everything on the menu. Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese is my go to but I lean toward the French Toast if my sweet tooth tells me to. This place has been owned by the same family since day 1. Anna and John are the owners and take care of everyone who comes through the door. Marta, Gaudine, or Mary will likely serve you and they are all sweethearts. They know their clientele and they treat them like family. If you go for dinner, I recommend a seafood special. John, the owner, is an avid fisherman and much if the fish is caught that day. For lunch go with the sliced steak sandwich. Introduce yourself and they will be very accommodating. A family atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Truly a part of New Providence history. read more

Not a fan of this place. If you're starving and everything else is closed--sure. If you want to have a nice brunch--forget about it. The name--The Old Glory--unintentionally sums it up: the diner may have had its glory days, but now it looks old and feels old. Let's put it this way: if you tried to order a fancy coffee drink or a Mimosa, they'd probably throw you out The food is very mediocre. Our waitress was very nice and the place is inexpensive, but that's about it. Too bad, because it would be nice to have a decent local alternative to Prestige Diner. We love that place but going to the same place every week is no fun. read more

Just passing through, sat at the counter here for brunch and was impressed. LOVED IT. Nice homey feel, the kind you want from a diner. Heather, my waitress, was friendly, helpful and attentive. She suggested the Monte Cristo, and if you like that kind of thing, it was awesome. French toast, dusted with powered sugar, fresh ham cut from the bone and melted cheese (only possible improvement, use cheddar or gouda or something instead of American. But it is a diner lol). Ordered an omelet on my way into work the other day and I cannot explain how incredible it was. Not only was the omelet, home fries and toast such an incredible generous serving that it lasted me TWO meals but I've never had an omelet so delicious before. Wow, this place is a craphole. The food, for the most part, is prepared in front of you not using the most sanitary conditions. It's dimly lit and it tries to be a diner but is no where near diner food quality and that's really not saying much! I ordered the Italian Hot Dog which was literally turned over using hands. The potato's/onions/peppers were drenched in oil and they were probably sitting there for days. My friend ordered the HOT roast beef "Special" which came with mashed potato's and soup. It was actually roast beed cold cuts (COLD) on a roll with no mashed potatos. When he finally said something they brought it in the back and microwaved it. They brought it back without the mashed potatos once again. They finally asked him if he wanted the mashed after he was done. Oh and he had to ask for the gravy which supposedly came with it. To boot, they charged him full price as a special ($8). Ridiculous. We didnt bother arguing as we know for a fact we will never be back here! No one at my company has anything nice to say about this place. By the way, the waitress was almost non existent later in the meal. It took us 10 mins to get our bill! No refills on water...RIDICULOUS! read more

First time trying this place yesterday morning. This is very reminiscent of luncheonette type places I'd go for breakfast or lunch when we were kids. So took one of my bff's out for breakfast after Sat am practice (that's my kid in case you want to know). Walked in and instantly felt my childhood come flooding back. Decor, the counter seating. Its so retro but real! Had a terrific waitress Heather. She's snappy, efficient, and ohhh so accommodating. Kiddo wanted a cheeseburger for breakfast. (Hey, it was 11am and he just came from practice. Kid was HUNGRY. And yes I can be a little indulgent that way on occasion.) Heather made it happen. They fired up that grill and cooked him a burger & made him a side of onion rings. He said the burger was better than the diner (his all time favorite). Also thought the onion rings tasted better as well. I tried a few onion rings - greedy kid was stingy since they tasted so good- can't blame him - they really were good! I had boring breakfast. But I will say, loved the omelette I ordered. Spinach, feta, & tomato. And they weren't stingy on the fillings - just the right balance so you could taste the flavors in every bite - tasted so good! Lots of coffee re-fills. Saw the fresh OJ being served to other customers - gonna have to try that next time. Yes there will definitely be a next time! read more
