The space has a warm and modern feel. On the food side, I enjoyed a beet salad. The dish was beautifully presented with a generous portion of beets underneath a tower of greens, topped with a fried goat cheese cake. Delicious! For cocktails, I started with "The Perfect Pairing" - a seasonal whiskey cocktail with Widow Jane applewood rye, Aperol, spicy pear liqueur, bitters, and muddled orange. I really enjoyed this sturdy cocktail. I'm not much of a dessert cocktail person, but Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream is my flavor, so I indulged with mixology ace Giovanni's "Mint Chocolate Martini." Pumping up the vanilla vodka, creme de menthe and another liqueur was mint chocolate ice cream. Other guests were raving about the espresso martinis (that use freshly brewed espresso right off the machine). It's safe to say that dessert cocktails are a strong suit at Providence Bar! Chatting with owner Eric, I learned that the patio has a retractable roof which will be opening up with warmer weather close at hand. They also hold special events (wine and food pairings, cigar nights, mixology classes). With great food, cocktails, and service - Providence Bar is highly recommended. I look forward to returning soon.

The host provided us with our menus upon each of us sitting in our chair, and we thought we were in for a nice customer experience. Upon being seated, we waited about 10 minutes to get bread and water, and then another 10 minutes after that for someone to take our drink order...and then the bar was backed up, so we did not get a drink in hand until about 30 minutes in. You would think that if it took that long to get drinks, you might want to put the appetizer order in when we ordered the drinks. This did not happen. We did not put our food order in until about 45-60 minutes. The apps we ordered were very good. The entrees were good as well, although upon ordering filet mignon medium rare, the meat was severely undercooked (essentially raw and jiggling). We had to request the order be heated to the correct temperature, which our waiter did without hesitation. Unfortunately, as we waited for this to occur the rest of our meals waited to be consumed. We then ordered our coffees/desserts - only 2. Our coffees came out within about 10 minutes, which we finished in another 10 minutes. Dessert did not hit our table for about 25 minutes. We had a 6pm reservation for 3 people. The entire meal took 2.5 hours to compete. We only ordered a total of 3 alcoholic beverages, 3 apps, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. From my perspective, the restaurant did not staff an adequate number of wait staff for the volume of customers. Additionally, there should be a dedicated staff member that can run drinks to tables. Even the person that filled water glasses and delivered bread was falling behind. She brought out apps plates to our table as we were finishing up our apps and eating out of our bread plates. Not a big deal, but just added to the underperforming service. Again, food quality was excellent, but the restaurant did not nail a great service experience on this night. The good news is that hopefully they can correct this for the future.

Harlee's has an amazing cocktail menu, and plenty of beer on tap which is great while you're watching a game at the bar. Their signature appetizers are a must have. The roasted brussel sprouts are caramelized and crispy and loaded with bacon. I loved their crispy chicken wings with sweet chili sauce, which hit the perfect sweet heat combo. The French onion soup was perfection, probably my favorite of the night, with rich savory broth that truly warmed up my cold January night. The ahi tuna bites were fresh, light, and zesty. And not something you see often at a gastropub! When I saw disco fries on the menu, you know this Jersey girl had to get some and let me tell you, they were everything I hoped for and more. We got the pioneer burger and the big bleu burger. They were charred beautifully yet still so juicy and tender. The onion rings they came with were delicious and crispy! The waffles with ice cream ended dinner on a sweet note, with ice cream from Zita's topped perfectly on the fluffy golden waffles. This place has great food, great energy, the kindest staff, and the cutest pictures of dogs on the wall to top it all off. If you're visiting new Providence, Harlee's is a must stop!!

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

Honestly would come back for these happy hour sliders alone! Overall we had a great time here. My old phone was taking blurry pics from far away so I wasn't able to capture it, but think very cozy, fireplace with candles glowing from within, and little alcoves in the wall for candle clusters. I knew we had to get that because it is right up my husbands alley. It did not disappoint, my husband was tempted to order some to take home! The pasta was super creamy and cheesy, mixed with the roasted pulled smoky bbq pork on top, it was the ultimate comfort food for the cold rainy day we were having. For my meal I got the Grilled Cheese which is more of an elevated "grown up" grilled cheese. It had cheese, thin apple slices, fig jam and bacon. The flavors were great, I only wish there was a little more cheese or a little less jam to balance the sweet and savory a little more, because for me it was a touch too sweet. The sourdough it was made with was delicious and fresh, I also appreciate that they don't seem to soak their grilled cheese in oil like a lot of places do (butter or nothing, please!!) My husband ordered the burger which he really enjoyed but nothing was going to top the pulled pork Mac and cheese for him. They should consider adding it to the regular menu! He originally wanted the duck sandwich but it was unavailable on this day. All in all it was a cozy afternoon together. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure to check on us without ever being too overbearing.

In fact it was one of the reasons I chose the hotel for a quiet, relaxing night to myself where I could just run downstairs and pick up my order. Unfortunately, I was unable to place an online order for pickup anytime that day even though they closed at 10p and it was 7:30p. I also tried calling several times and no one answered so unfortunately I had to put on deodorant (just got out the shower from doing my curls) and real clothes because I had no clue if they would make me eat inside since the takeaway options seemed to not be available. Luckily I was able to place a takeout order downstairs and wait in my room for a call. I ordered the Grover Double Burger, added a slab of bacon, and substituted the fries for a salad. The to go bag had everything I needed to enjoy the meal in my room such as silverware and a wet wipe. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the colorful, fresh, green salad I was given! Not what I was expecting from a hotel restaurant salad! The vinaigrette was also a nice light pairing for the delicious healthy salad. The burger patties were a nice size and cooked to a perfect medium. They were not playing when they said SLAB of bacon! That beauty was thick and delicious. There was quite a bit of bacon fat which I'm personally not a fan of so I tore it off but I know some people love it. The sauce on the burger could have been a bit more plentiful and had more flavor, although having more could have given it the flavor that was needed. The bun was soft, buttery, but sturdy enough to handle the patties. Overall my hotel meal was very good! It also seemed to be a popular Friday night option since the place was packed and there was even a wait for tables!

Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment from the moment we arrived. We were the only people there, yet the floor around our table was dirty with old Goldfish crackers and blueberries. We ordered the banana bread appetizer, an egg tortilla bowl, a western omelet, and two kids' waffles. The banana bread appetizer didn't come out until the rest of our food arrived, and everything was ice cold. The breakfast potatoes tasted old, as if they had been made the day before. While it wasn't ideal, we tried to be understanding since it was a holiday and the staff may have been overwhelmed. The highlight of the meal was the fresh-squeezed orange juice that we enjoyed with our BYOB champagne. However, no one checked on our table during the meal, and I eventually had to stop someone just to ask for the check. When reviewing the bill, I realized the kids' waffles seemed more expensive than expected. Sure enough, we had been overcharged for each one. When I politely questioned it, I was told, "That's the price in our register," and the staff gave me a hard time about correcting it. After asking again, they reluctantly handed me cash for the difference. The waitress was rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. Overall, it was such a disappointing experience, especially compared to how much we enjoyed it last year. Sadly, we'll be choosing a different spot for Mother's Day brunch next year.
