I've been to better Smashburgers. The register staff was unenthused when taking the order, although at least the server that brought out the food was cheerful. Still the same flavors, but on the truffle mushroom chicken, still noticed the mushrooms are much fewer, the burger quite a bit saltier, and the large side of smashfries felt more like a medium than the past servings I've gotten. It's the only Smashburger north of hwy 78 and serves New Providence, Summit, Chatham, and even Florham Park. The food is similar to others and gets quite busy during nights and weekends. Even though they have 3 guys working the grills, there's only one working both the register and bagging food. Just be patient. The dining area is clean. Ordering through the app is preferred than standing in line. I just tried their scorchin' hot mac and cheese burger. It's ok. Not spicy at all. But interesting. I think that this place could do a lot better. Let's start off with the service. They were understaffed and they took long to cook the food. Now the food itself, meh, and thats at best the food was greasy the sauce felt like you would've been drenched everywhere. Onion rings are mostly fried stuff I could feel no onion in them. One good thing were the drinks. Oh yeah and fries but you can't mess up those. Inside was kind of dirty they had two TVs, some french decorations. I honestly enjoyed my burger and the experience was very fast and the employee I spoke to was polite. The part that has me dropping a star is the bun. It was simply too weak to support what was in it. I did appreciate how much the burger was filled with. It makes for a great picture too! But once you grab the bun, anticipating that bite, the grease from the burger meat soaks the bread, making it a little soggy and only getting soggier with time. Because of that, majority of what it was filled with just drops out. The meat is cooked so soft that it's very easy to eat but that also makes it easy to break off. There is some charm to having that kind of bun with so much in it but I think it makes it imbalanced instead of completing the burger. Would still recommend coming by smash burger though and seeing for yourself what you might like or dislike read more

Just horrible service. I work right across the shopping center in a store 75 yards away. I placed an order for PICKUP at 5:53 on 4/20 through Grubhub Got an email saying it would be 30-45 minutes before it would be ready. After 30 minutes I called Smashburger for an update and they said oh, we're just waiting for a Grubhub driver! I said no I put in for a pickup. They argued with me and insisted that I put in for a delivery. I said I want a refund or please remake my order so my food wouldn't be cold . I said I will call Grubhub for a refund. Grubhub refused a refund because I called 35 minutes after the order. They did confirm that my order was for PICKUP. I walked over to Grubhub after they assured me the food would be warm because it was under the heat lamp. The Vanilla Shake was delicious. The Double Bacon Cheeseburger and French fries were tepid. At least I finally got a refund from Grubhub today after I asked to speak to a Supervisor. This Smashburger location is just pathetic and poorly run! read more

Everything was fine at first, food came quickly, the food was not cold nor too hot. I ordered a classic burger and chicken fingers. Don't let the looks on the burger fool you. Make sure you check that it is cooked. My burger looked great but tasted a bit odd. I thought that was normal but when I went home, that's when disaster struck. Immediate food poisoning. SALMONELLA! The burger was not cooked properly. The chicken was slimy. Also ordering the food took forever because the lady at the cash register was too busy to get off her phone, turn around, and take my order. This place ALWAYS DISAPPOINTS! Not for the food, but for its complete inability to produce an order in a timely manner. I limit a visit to this chain to 1-3 times per year and it's always the same scenario.....wait, wait, wait. A person could literally go to the supermarket, buy a package of ground beef, drive home and cook a burger in less time. The best thing I can say is they are consistent, since wait times don't seem to depend on the business of the restaurant. With every table full, or no one inside at all....still a good 30 mins before the food comes out. My order did however, instantly appear as soon as I demanded money back. So I've been here a couple of times and the first time that I went I had a couple of things that I didn't like. First off were the prices for 1 burger, fries, a drink, and a shake. It ran me 30 DOLLARS. I don't know about you, but that's a lot of money for 1 person's meal. You might be wondering why you get a shake and fries along with a burger. which is a good question, but let me tell you, for the price, the portions are not up to size. They are way too small, from the burgers to the size of the shakes. Another thing I might add is that they use way too much oil. I understand that when you get the signature "Smash Fries" they come with olive oil, but that is an understatement. They should say DRENCHED IN OLIVE OIL. The bathroom was not happy after my meal here. The shakes tasted like milk because of how melted the ice cream I asked for whipped cream, and they gave me the bare minimum and, to say the least, the SHAKES took the longest. Now, for customer service, they seem to not be able to keep the same employees for more than a month. I live in this town, so I see every time I pass by, there is always a decent number of new people (most being teens getting jobs quickly, which clearly means something if people that young are quitting so quickly) that have quit and are quite frankly depressed to be around.  DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE AWFUL STOMACH PROBLEMS AND A DRAINED BANK ACCOUNT!!! read more

Spicy Baja Smashburger is very flavorful and really hit the spot, if you can take spicy burger! However, if it gets too spicy for you, removing few Jalapeño slices, the burger is still delicious because of its meat patty. It would be great idea to sub regular fries with sweet potato fries! Yummy!! Classic Cobb salad has fresh greens, crispy chopped bacon, one well done pan fried egg, with my choice of grilled chicken, cheese and ranch dressing. Very refreshing salad. And let's not forgetting the strawberry milkshake! It's a good combination to the burger you have! read more

Ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with regular fries. The chicken was done well and the whole impression of the sandwich was subtle. Light flavor and juicy. So juicy that it was dripping. All other ingredients complimented well. The fries were just fine. Not a ton of flavor or salt, but it's pretty hard to mess up fries. We also tried the Tater Tots which were fantastic. Would definitely get the tots again. Our party of 7 which included 3 young children had no problem finding a big enough table to accommodate us. We came at about lunch on a Friday, and the tables were about half to 2/3 full. Lots of families. Service was great for a fast food spot. Several times, staff came by to check on us and to clear trays. Will probably be back if we're in the area because it's the only burger/chicken/salad place like this in town. read more

Many years ago, I would come to this restaurant multiple times to enjoy a good burger and good service with my friends. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere was good. However, this past year, I have had very negative experiences coming here. A few months ago, I came to dine at this restaurant on my bike. I left my bike outside and came back to find my bike gone.. Long story short, an employee working here stole my bike and thought he could get away with it. He was wrong.. After going thru this, I didn't think I would want to come back, however, today, I decided to return to the scene of the crime. However, I am asking myself "self, why did I return". My dad ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered a double smash burger with a strawberry milkshake. After about 15 minutes he received his chicken burger to find that the chicken was bad tasting and slightly cold. He went on to suffer stomach issues shortly after consuming this. I received my burger shortly after his to find that I had been given a single patty burger when I had ordered a double! I was astounded. I informed the staff of their mistake and they quickly said they would remake it. One issue remained, my milkshake... I went to ask and they said they were out of milk and someone walked to the Acme nearby to buy milk. Incredible! After about another 20 minutes, I finally got my milkshake. Still waiting for my burger. We were there for 40 minutes and nothing so I asked about my burger. They said they hadn't started making it yet! I was dumbfounded! The lady took my burger and said she'd remake it. Why is my burger not even being cooked yet?! Friendly staff but not too on top of things. This place is not what it once was. Would like to note that there was one sane person there that recognized my struggles and gave a 5$ gift card and was very friendly. However 1/5 people being nice is not enough. If you frequently read my reviews, you'll know that I rarely visit chains and have a fondness for a rare burger. So why on earth would I visit a Smashburger? Why not make the burger at home to my liking or take out from somewhere where I can be satisfied. Well, I have no easy answer to that question. Stopping in here seemed like an okay idea at the time and what's more, Smash has jumped on the chicken sandwich bandwagon and my wife really likes a good chicken sandwich. So, in the door we went. The person who rung up our order did so incorrectly. We ordered three orders of Smash Tots. Got three orders of Smash fries. Our two bbq bacon burgers and chicken sandwiches were correct. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care how good your product is before cooking-if you're going to cook it deader than dead, it hardly matters. The burgers were well done plus plus. Hockey pucks. Not a trace of anything redeeming save the good toppings. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich. It isn't Popeye's but what is?
