He also neglected to notice we needed drink refills, and just disappeared for long stretches of time. Lunch took two hours as a result. It's an old fashioned bakery with all the stuff you expect but the truth is nothing stands out for being that great except the apple strudel which is awesome. I was craving pastries and happened to be in the area so stopped in. As I walked in I noticed a sign saying best bakery in America. I am used to NYC bakeries so my standards are extremely high! Deising's Bakery is really a standout. My family regularly goes here for breakfast, and is rarely disappointed. Obviously, Deising's baked goods are "in-house:" kaiser rolls, bagels, danishes, etc. Also, a large selection of Italian-style cookies, other cookies, cakes, breads. Breakfast and lunch selections are well prepared and generous. You can judge for yourself by the lines at their bakery counter and in the dining room. But lines move quickly, it's always worth the short wait. read more

Deising's just won the "John's Best Egg Sandwich in Kingston" award. I had one this weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Sausage, Egg, Cheese on a beautifully in house baked hard roll. The egg was cooked a perfect over medium so the yolk was soft but not runny. I couldn't ask for better. read more

I absolutely love Deising's for breakfast ( lunch is so so). Their bakery is fabulous...however the last few times I ordered there...I was mortified at the amount of plastic packaging that was used for every single item. Three egg sandwiches to go...each were given their own massive plastic container. I'm not sure why they can't just wrap it in deli paper? I later ordered 4 cupcakes expecting they would be put in a paper cake box...nope...each one was packaged in its own large plastic container. It's 2019 ya'll... forget plastic straws...this place is leading the pack on environmental irresponsibility. It's the little details that give a glimpse of the bigger picture when it comes to a companies values. I just think they can easily do better. read more

Met a friend for a late lunch and while it wasnt busy, we had to wait a while for someone to come seat us. We ordered and we waited ( remember, it wasnt busy) and waited ...till we caught the waitress to ask if our meals we coming. She said she woud go and get them. The food is very good but the service is not. We went two days in a row and got different workers each day. The second day I ordered two sandwiches to go from Jessica, and they come with fries. After I finished ordering, but before I paid I asked to change my fries to a cup of soup, and the lady at the counter told me she couldn't because she already typed in the order. They need to have a better standard when hiring because the individuals we experienced gave us the bare mi, which is sad because it could be a great restaurant if it wasn't for that. Wonderful traditional bakery with a restaurant serving great food very reasonably priced open for breakfast and lunch. Go for the baked goods or have a nice lunch or both you won't be disappointed. My review has dropped down to 1 star. A family member went to pick up a Birthday cake today. She was told her debit card had been declined when she originally ordered the cake. Then she scraped up what cash she had because she left her debit at home and didn't want to have to drive all the way home. The man who waited on her was rude and was simply so unprofessional. She showed him her cell phone so that he would know she never received a call like he claimed. They had 4 days to get a hold of her and they never called yet he stood there and lied. After she paid she asked to see the manager who was also of no help. She stood there shrugging her shoulders like wtf do you want me to do? Hey Deising's this is very bad business to treat your customers this way. They were not the least bit apologetic nor did they try to make things better. After all this she got home and the name on the cake was misspelled. This place used to be great but it has gone down hill. They must be cutting cost by hiring these sub standard employees without any people skills or language skills. I'll be passing this place by and spreading the word to everyone I know. We have used this bakery for years and EVERYTIME it never fails something is wrong. Today, on my nephews first birthday the cake, which was ordered weeks ago had not been made. This has been the 3rd time I've had this issue with personalized cakes ordered well in advance. Last time it was my parents 25th anniversary they never placed the order of rolls or baked goods for 50 people. You CANT count on this place!!! Right when you walk into Deising's, you're pretty much hit with a wall of bakery smells that are too strong NOT to give in to temptation! They make the most amazing cakes, and everything just looks HUGE. They also make very tasty bread. By far the best thing, however, is their breakfast. We go here for breakfast on a regular basis (though budget constraints have made that a lot less regular...). The food qualifies as good-but-plain (don't expect lox-and-feta omelets...though I suppose you could order one). Their breads are homemade (it is, after all, a bakery), and I'm a big fan of their English muffin bread. The only complaint I have is that, of late, their service has been so-so. Given that the last few times I've been there, they've had "Help Wanted" signs up, this probably reflects that they're short staffed and will hopefully be corrected soon. read more

This bakery is seriously awesome and the prices are great. I haven't had a chance to eat in the restaurant yet, but I have tried many of their cookies and they were all great! For Thanksgiving, I bought little pastries in the shape of turkeys with fondant and icing. I wasn't expecting much because I'm used to creative pastries like that being too sweet and really just a novelty, but they were excellent, and this place always has a lot of really artistic and skillfully done themed cakes for holidays, etc. I grew up in NYC and recently moved somewhat local to this bakery and this quality would be much more expensive in the city. Another thing I really like about this place is the wide selection of German cookies, cakes, etc. I'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about when they mention long waits and rude service. I just love Deisings. It is everything a diner should be and more because it's also a bakery! I'm from NJ, the land of diners, and I know of what I speak here. Deisings food tastes good and fresh, the portions are beyond generous and the price is right. The soup is delicious, the specials are special, the eggs are perfect. C'mon, what more could you want. The servers are friendly and always get your order right. The bread is homemade, the desserts are scrumptious. No, it's not a locavore, organic, hand-pulled cafe. I've only eaten breakfast here, but what I have tried, I like a lot. Their portions are huge and very reasonably priced. I came here with 2 other people and a restaurant.com gift certificate, and we found it difficult to order enough breakfast food to make the minimum amount to use the certificate! So we all got coffee (which is refilled regularly by very attentive wait staff), omelets, pancakes, and sides of meat, thoroughly stuffing ourselves on less than $10 per person. The atmosphere is like your typical diner, but with a vast array of beer steins and cuckoo clocks from the old country. (Thank goodness not all of the cuckoo clocks are on!) My favorite dish is the stuffed French toast with fresh berries on top. And spend the extra $1.50 to upgrade to real New York State maple syrup! read more
