The chocolate pieces are very rich ans the macaroons are not too sweet and soft. Most of these pieces are made with coconut cream and the taste is very prominent. I had a snickers doodles cookie. A very cute vegan bakery and gift shop with some unique items. Wish we had stopped in here first but we had already had some sweets elsewhere. Their baked goods looked delectable: pillowy cookies, nice colored macarons, cupcakes in different flavors, etc. They also had fun ornaments and candles, honeys, tea/coffee, vegan cheese, chocolate and other small gifts. Some of their prices also seemed decent compared to a few other shops that we stopped into. Street parking only but apparently they don't check meters on Saturdays. Everything about this bakery is charming...the sign out front, the interior design, and the service! Immediately upon walking thru the door, I smelled chocolate. Naturally, I had to get whatever it was --fudge brownie with walnuts. I also ordered a mint chocolate mini cake, pistachio cookie, marzipan cookie, peanut cookie, and the lemon yogurt cake. These desserts are some of the best I've ever had...and I've tried A LOT of desserts. If you are in the area of Kingston, I suggest you make a plan to try these desserts out for yourself. I quite literally did a happy dance when I discovered everything was vegan. As someone with a dairy allergy, I usually walk into bakeries cautiously, scanning labels and aiming for whatever feels like the safest option. So when I wandered in, casually asked whether something had cream, and was told everything was vegan... I jumped for joy. Truly. I felt like a kid let loose in a candy shop. I also loved that the bakery doesn't shout its vegan status from the rooftops--it made it much easier to convince my husband to walk through the door. I've tried Sweet Maresa's macarons before (from their co-location in the East Village in NYC) so I was excited to actually visit the bakery in Kingston when I was in the area. Hands down-- these are some MAGICAL MACARONS. Some of the best macarons I've had. OK, I'm no macaron expert but these are expertly done. Some flavors hit and some flavors are a miss, I think it really depends on personal preference. Luckily the flavors rotate with each season. I usually order them during the holidays because you can get usually try their chai flavor (amazing) and they are pretty to look at so they make good gifts. During this visit the standout was the coconut (which I would recommend only if you love coconut). The strawberry milk one lacked real strawberry taste. I also tried their pistachio + almond cookies. Both were OK and didn't really pack flavor-- overall they tasted like sugar cookies, texture was good though. I would stick to the macarons. Seating was super limited in the bakery and their outside seating didn't have any umbrellas on a hot sunny day so we took our things to go. The ambiance doesn't really invite you to sit and enjoy your baked goods-- there are a lot of bakery knick knacks all around the shop so it was fun to look around and discover cute little baking things (or vegan chocolates) but we had to take our goods to go. read more

Very good bakery: clean with loads of vegan treats. I am always pleasantly surprised when I can choose anything and not have to worry about dairy. The macaron was a sweet burst of flavor. The s'mores cookie, however, just tasted like a chocolate chip cookie, nothing special except it's extra stickiness. The grapefruit soda was very very good and I loved the bits of pulp. Came in here specifically for coffee since I just drove three hours to visit Kingston, New York. I loved the vibe and the aesthetic, but the downsides were only had one coffee option, which was cold brew. The only sweetener they had was sugar, they didn't have any flavored simple syrups. This place was mainly a bakery. I got a chocolate croissant and they couldn't heat it up due to not having the facilities too. One of the best bakeries hands down. Absolutely amazing desserts and many that just happen to be gluten free.

I think I picked the wrong thing to try. Both my son and I got a slice of cheesecake. It was by far the worst cheesecake I've ever tasted.

My son was on his way back from college for the weekend and decided to surprise his mother, bonus dad & little brother with cupcakes from Sweet Maresa's. I was the first to taste his little surprise. Needless to say the other two cupcakes did not make it to their rightful owners. As a southern woman, brought up by generations of skilled cooks/cake/dessert makers... I stop here every now and then when I'm driving upstate to my brother's place by Rhinebeck. Him and his wife and kids (lots of kids) are all vegan, so I can generally get a good variety of treats for the house. The bakery products always look lovely and the store's overall aesthetic is very nice, but I find the actual taste and flavors to be very hit or miss- some things are excellent, some very mediocre- but there's so few vegan options upstate, so this spot is certainly filling a void. However, the staff very frequently are unwelcoming, sometimes to the point of outright rudeness. They seem to treat their paying customers in a very snobbish manner for some reason, which is unfortunate. I often walk out wondering why the overall experience was so strange, but I guess it's just something that you have to live with if you want to have a vegan dessert in the Hudson Valley. read more

Really great addition to the wall street/Stockade district. The shop itself is bright, clean and elegant. There isn't a huge selection, but what they have is thoughtfully presented under a display case at the front. I'm not vegan and I'm a bit of a macaron snob, so even though the vegan macarons looked really pretty, at $3 each I decided to pass in case they weren't very good. We chose a anisette biscotti and a chocolate walnut brownie. Both were outstanding, especially the brownie. Where to begin? I went in here for the first time last week and the place is absolutely beautiful. The two women working there were also unbelievably friendly. And now for the treats. I got two cookies and four macarons. I bit into the first macaron and decided I needed to pace myself because it was so incredibly delicious. This high end, fine pastry bakery is a welcome addition to the Uptown Kingston dining scene. You will not find a huge assortment of treats, but rather a carefully thought out display of 5-6 types of cookies, bars, tarts, cheeses, etc. (including macaroons) as well as the ability to special order. The stone fruit bars...delicious. The cookies...delicious. My favorite...the "Raviolis" (think the most decadent Pop Tart ever... delicious. The prices are a little in the higher side for Uptown Kingston, but the taste and richness of the desserts makes it worth it. The space is bright, and clean, but seating is limited to 6 spots (might be a problem once the nice weather goes away). My only real issue is the lack of coffee available to enjoy with your pastry (I'm much more of a grab one item, sit and enjoy kind of person vs. bringing home a box).
