This high end, fine pastry bakery is a welcome addition to the Uptown Kingston dining scene. You will not find a huge assortment of treats, but rather a carefully thought out display of 5-6 types of cookies, bars, tarts, cheeses, etc. (including macaroons) as well as the ability to special order. The stone fruit bars...delicious. The cookies...delicious. My favorite...the "Raviolis" (think the most decadent Pop Tart ever... delicious. The prices are a little in the higher side for Uptown Kingston, but the taste and richness of the desserts makes it worth it. The space is bright, and clean, but seating is limited to 6 spots (might be a problem once the nice weather goes away). My only real issue is the lack of coffee available to enjoy with your pastry (I'm much more of a grab one item, sit and enjoy kind of person vs. bringing home a box). They have a line of French Presses on the shelf and I'm hoping that is an indication that the option is on the way. Welcome to the neighborhood! Wishing them much success. read more

The ambience is fairytale Lake perfect light pink and crystal settings, beautiful brass bars, and glass all around. The macaroons are next level and consistently fresh. If you haven't gone go you'll love it. read more

Very "cutesy" looking store with lots of hipstery pretty products to buy like dishes, keychains, pistachio milk (bunch of random, aesthetically cute things!) As for the baked goods, I tried an earl grey macaron and a chocolate chip cookie. Macaron had a good earl grey flavor and maybe a berry-ish filling. one word: AMAZING. The whole Covid situation has had me exploring upstate NY like every other weekend so I stumbled upon Sweet Maresa's after learning that they have gluten free AND vegan desserts here. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but oh man, this place is phenomenal. The interior is gorgeous and sparkling clean. The vibe here is friendly, and the pastries are 100% worth the (almost) 2 hour drive from the city. I got the (gluten free + vegan) macarons (passionfruit white chocolate, apple butter, lemon poppyseed, maple pecan) and a gluten free chocolate raspberry tart. The macarons were delicious, not dry, and not too sweet. I could have easily eaten all the macarons i got in one sitting. No shame. If you're coming here - definitely get an assortment of the macarons. Once you have one, you'll want more, plus if you have a long drive ahead of you, you'll need something to make it better. The chocolate raspberry tart was a dream. Absolutely rich, decadent, and divine. They apparently do shipments of their pastries to Confectionary in the East Village so i'm thankful there's a place close to home where i can get my fix! Long time supporter - fist discovered these macarons at a Catskill Animal Sanctuary event many years ago. The treats are delicious but communication with the business is difficult. I ordered a box as a gift for a friend and the system put my name as the recipient. I used Sweet Maresa's contact form twice last week to ask that the name be corrected and called the shop yesterday and left a voicemail and never heard anything from anyone. Maresa is amazing, but the ice cream sandwiches are more amazing? Is that possible? I averaged 2 ice cream sandwiches a week during Covid summer. I regret nothing. They are the size of a small but glorious island. Someone said online that they are big enough to share. I will share these with no one but myself. I also have strong opinions about the marzipan cookies. They are delicious and chewy. Also not for sharing. Tell people to go buy their own cookies. Okay. So. I recently announced to the few people who listen to me that I had given up my quest to find incredible food outside of NYC. I live in Queens, where they say to "come hungry" for a reason. And so a few years ago, at my sister's COVID-time wedding in her backyard, I tried a cookie from Sweet Maresa's. It was a "cookie" to me until I took a bite and chewed a bit; then, the cookie wasn't a macaron, it was a revelation. "The best cookie I've had in my life," I told those same few listeners. Maybe I said it so loud and so often, I threatened to steal the show at my sister's wedding, but these cookies deserve their own show. My sister is no longer a newlywed and she and her husband have a one year old child now. A lot has changed. But these cookies have not changed. THESE COOKIES ARE THE BEST COOKIES IN THE WORLD. And they're vegan! (Which is at once impossible to believe and part of the real magic.) I grab at least a half dozen every time I come upstate to see my sister and her family. This is a crazy cute little bakery. Everything is vegan! In addition to the baked goods, they have a small assortment of vegan snacks, spreads, and cheeses. $20 for 8 macarons is a touch pricey but not unreasonable since everything was very high quality and so tasty.
