I finally had an actual NY cheesecake from NY last night and I feel like I just found out Santa Claus isn't real bc they were nothing like the cheesecake at Enchanted Cakes. 1st and foremost.. Service. We're visiting family from out of town and came down for dinner and my father in law decided to surprise us with desert from here. They were closing and stayed open just to take care of us. Also the service couldn't be friendlier. A+ for service. Now on to that cheesecake. The crust was incredible. The cheesecake itself melted in my mouth. The only bad thing is it may have ruined any other cheesecake for me and I live 10 hrs away from NY. I guess I could have him ship it to us lol. 5 stars!

It was exactly what we needed to cap our evening. A large variety of cakes, , cookies and other desserts were on display. Three of us opted for the bourbon cake which was out of this world and our younger set got a brownie and a cookie. Everyone was over the moon about the quality of the desserts and the friendliness of the hostess. She was awesome and even gave my young son a short tour of the kitchen. Major kudos for that! The price was very reasonable too. Check them out!!!

Very clean inside and beautiful display cases make you want to eat everything in sight. We opted for some cookies and a couple of pastries to take home. We also got a couple of cannolis because- well, because. Plenty of parking in the area in a Sunday afternoon and when we entered there were only a few customers but when we were leaving after having checked out, the place really got a rush. Some tables and a diner type counter allow you to have some of your goodies inside while there are also tables on the outside. Prices were very reasonable and I was surprised at the final tally for all of what we bought. The staff were really friendly and most importantly helpful in making choices. They offered best sellers and personal favorites. Of course, they have some beautiful cupcakes and pies and cannolis as well as homemade sweets for the kids. ( Big and small kids). Well worth the visit to grab a coffee and treat yourself to very good and fresh baked goods.

A few things appeared to have been stored away and sorta looks as if it's kinda shoved to the side. For example : soft serve machine. So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable. Yesterday, I had the worst day, Ever! Plz don't ask. I decided it was an expensive tequila day…read more Like I can do a whole lot of damage with that anymore lol. I think I need to date myself tho lol. I'm a very cheap date now. Shh, don't tell anyone plz lol. 3 sips of my expensive tequila & it was suddenly today. Yay! I tried calling a few Liquor Stores, before speaking with Terrence at Merchant Wines & failed miserably. Terrence is a new hero to me now! Honestly, I've tried moving a pic to here. Nope. Part of my crap leftover mood, from past few weeks! Terrence didn't have any problems with me asking him questions about the tequila he had available or Knew about, nor about the Tequila I was looking for. He even Knew about the Mescal I was looking for! It's never available in States! Holy you know what here! WoW! He had none of the Mescal, but spoke with me at length about the Tequila he had. I told him my spending range & he told me what he had & Could Deliver To Me Too! WoW! What a difference A Phone Call makes!!! To a different Store! Add Terrence, et voila! Magic happens! I settled on expensive-expensive Tequila, written twice on purpose here lol. It is, but damnnn is it delish! It arrived within the hour. About 20 years ago I quit drinking. Couldn't stand taste or smells of alcohol! Alcohol is empty calories, just like fake foods. So, I just quit drinking. Wasn't hard, just smelling it on others. Yuck. Sorry. In other words, this was my 1st alcohol in 20 years. Yup. Now do you understand why 3 sips?! But, I did drink outta bottle like a pirate! Fun. Terrence went to trouble of explaining the distillation process of tequila, I was now panting for, to me. Guess he couldn't hear me panting lol. He was not only Professional, he was Kind & Patient! Funny too. I was cussing like a sailor yesterday! I took my fowl (lol foul, I know! Ok?!) language muzzle off! He just said, "Not a problem!" Each time, I apologized for my language muzzle being off completely! A gentleman too! Holy moly-diff word wants out badly now! Nope! I'm serious! He couldn't have been more perfect if he'd tried! Not kidding here! He "warned" me, about how the tequila was processed to be clear. He explained that it might have lost some of its earthy flavors in this process. While I may not have been drinking, doesn't mean I haven't been keeping abreast of Industry! Well, not just abreast lol. Nevermind me plz! Nope! I even called him back after 1st sip & told him it was soo good. Yumm I'd completely forgotten how absolutely lovely numb can feel. Especially for a few minutes! I love being Alive, but, please forgive my language here-You were warned! Life ain't for puzies! I guess unless you're a cat. Pbtt. Numb is ok, if done under my unblinking eyes lol. Well, for me anyway! Terrence man, You saved me yesterday! Thank You Sir! I am indebted to you now. Thank you for your kindness, your time, your efforts & the absolutely perfect tequila yesterday! Thank You Every Day Sir, for your Respectful Kindness towards me, when I was literally falling apart Sir! It's Your Treatment Of Me I Shall Never Ever Forget! Not to mention any future sips of Excellent Tequila I drink. Holy Yumm! Infinite Thanks Terrence! Jolie xx & gratitude
