Woo wow wow! My first time trying Georgian food, and Deda was so good. I live around the area, but somehow I never went in-- I'm so glad my friend picked this place for her birthday dinner. They have valet parking, street parking, and there's also a parking lot across the street. The service was very warm and welcoming. We had a semi-private room with over 10 people, and our server was still very attentive the whole night. They even had a photographer take birthday photos for us, which was such a nice touch. My favorite dish was the khachapuri. So, so good. I've honestly been thinking about it ever since. The food is hearty, filling, pretty, and very flavorful. The decor is classic and tasteful, and the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. I think this is a great place for a birthday gathering, family dinner, or even a date night. I'll definitely bring my husband and son here next time. My boys love carbs and meat, so I know they would enjoy it too. It's such a special spot, and I don't think there's anything quite like it around Pasadena.

The food was a solid 10/10. We ordered almost everything on the menu (my dad is Georgian-Armenian), and we were all pleasantly surprised by how authentic everything tasted. My favorites were the khinkali and the eggplant salad - both were excellent. The only thing I'd skip next time is the chips and dip. The dips lacked flavor, and at $25, it didn't feel worth it. The prices are definitely on the higher side - we were a party of 6 and our bill came out to around $1,000 - but overall, it was an excellent experience and we did order A LOT. Oh and the Georgian wine is a must try! Service could use a little help- a bit unorganized.

Deda Restaurant in Pasadena serves highly praised authentic Georgian comfort food, featuring standout Adjaruli khachapuri (cheese boats) and khinkali (dumplings). Located in a cozy, atmospheric space on South Lake, it offers a warm, family-friendly vibe with attentive service. It is widely recommended for its delicious, unique cuisine and extensive Georgian wine list. Signature Dishes: The khachapuri (especially the cheesy Adjaruli) and khinkali (soup dumplings) are must-orders. Other favorites include lamb shanks, eggplant rolls, and fresh Georgian bread. Brunch: Deda also offers a distinctive brunch that brings Georgian flavors into a relaxed daytime setting--think street food classics made brunch-ready:

First time here and it was a wonderful experience, I wasn't familiar with the Georgian Cuisine but our server made it very easy for us and gave us good recommendations, food was delicious! And portions were huge. Mostly carbs so don't go if you are on a diet. Valet service in the front so parking is not an issue, ambience is very cozy and comfortable. I loved this place and will definitely back!

Great atmosphere and excellent service from start to finish; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming. The ambiance was lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was very good overall, with thoughtful presentation and solid flavors. The standout was definitely the wagyu beef soup; rich, flavorful, and memorable. The only dish that didn't quite match the rest was the pork, which wasn't cooked properly and fell short compared to everything else. Overall, a really enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.

Georgian food with a fun atmosphere. Went for a Saturday dinner. There is parking garage next to the restaurant (north) where you can get validation. They also have valet and if you're lucky, some street parking. Was pretty busy in the restaurant and was glad we had an rsvp. Georgia (the country) is known for some good, affordable wines - so grabbed a bottle (Gurashvili's). I'm not a sommelier, but definitely seemed to go well with the cheese and meat dishes we had. Also, something to note: Georgian food is typically saltier than your typical cuisine - so you'll probably have to be mindful on which dishes to order if you prefer less salt. We ordered the following: - Warm eggplant salad - kind of reminded me of a Chinese stir fry of sorts. This was on the saltier side. - Adjaruli khachapuri (cheesy pie looking dish with an egg yolk) - very cheesy, this could be a meal on its own. The cheese is a bit salty. - Lamb mtsvadi (lamb kebab) - the potatoes were a little on the salty side, the lamb was cooked very well - enjoyed this quite a bit. - Khinkali kalakuri (meat dumplings - boiled) - reminded me of large version of xlb at Taiwanese restaurants. This was pretty tasty also. - Khinkali with cheese (fried) - think it being fried went well with the cheese inside. The cheese seemed to taste the similarly to the cheese pie dish. One other thing to note: they do bug you to take pictures (which they sell after dinner). It was a lot - we politely ask the photographer to stop after the 4th one. They came back with photos framed to purchase ($20) and def was pressure to do so. That being said, the pic was pretty good and is now on my nightstand lol Would I come back? Maybe. If I do, probably would get a few different appetizers (and the same dumplings), 1 meat dish, along with wine and dessert.

Wow what a hidden Gem , I've never had Georgian food before but it was absolutely delicious! The stuffed grapes and the big Empinadas were my favorite! Cheese stuffed dumplings were also excellent. Nikolas our server and Sara the manager were so friendly and helpful. We loved our brunch, the dessert was incredible. Free parking in the back. I'll be back to try drinks.

Ever since I moved to LA, I've been on the lookout for an authentic Georgian restaurant, which is much easier to come by in NYC. While I managed to find some restaurants with khachapuri on the menu, all of these turned out to be Armenian restaurants and the quality wasn't up to the standard of Georgian food that I remembered on the east coast. Then along came Deda, like an answer to my prayers. We came here for dinner as a group of three on a Sunday in April. We found parking outside the restaurant and came an hour before our reservation time, but the staff were welcoming and seated us immediately. The restaurant is beautiful, with both indoor and covered outdoor seating that is dog-friendly. The outdoor seating is almost like an outdoor courtyard, and is still inside the building, but airy. We decided to share several appetizers, including the corn croquettes with mint sauce, adjaruli khachapuri, and eggplant rolls. When it comes to Georgian food, adjaruli khachapuri is probably their most famous and recognizable dish - it consists of bread with melted cheese and egg in the centre. I fell in love with this dish the first time I ever ate it, and I stand by my opinion that it's a must-order for anyone trying Georgian food. I have to say that Deda's version of it is perfect. The corn croquettes in mint sauce were also superb. The eggplant rolls included thinly sliced slivers of eggplant filled with walnut puree. I've never had anything like this outside of Georgian cuisine. For mains, my brother had the khinkali filled with cheese. These were listed on the menu as potentially taking 30+ minutes, but they were dropped off at our table within 20 minutes. The exterior of the dumplings had great texture and the cheese was delicious. My husband got the Lamb Abkhazura for his main, which consisted of lamb meatballs wrapped in beef fat, and served with mashed potatoes and pickled jonjoli. This is a very decadent dish and it felt a tad too filling and rich given the amount of cheese we'd already eaten, but it was delicious nonetheless. None of us had ever eaten jonjoli before, and the taste was interesting. Service was friendly and our waitress made sure we had everything as soon as we needed it. Deda is out of the way for me to get to but I had a fantastic meal here and it's a restaurant I think is worth traveling in LA traffic for.

Deda is a phenomenal addition to Pasadena and it should be the next place you visit, the next time you leave your house. We came here on a Sunday around brunch time with no reservations. We waited about 2 minutes for a table to be prepared, though I would suggest you make reservations. The only word that I can think of to describe this place is "cool". The entire vibe of the restaurant is casually luxurious with rich linen, deep colors, and moody lighting. Our server was kind, though new to the restaurant so she couldn't answer our very specific cultural questions which is okay! Georgian food was new to us so that is why we had questions. We got the Napoleon which was light, airy, and accompanied by a berry compote that complimented the cream well. Next, we tried the khinkali with cheese ... wow - these were INCREDIBLE! The dough was nice and crispy, I sensed a high protein flour? And the cheese filling was soo delicious, it was filled with nice tangy cheese (maybe the same that is inside of the khachapuri? Either way - the khinkali with cheese are going to be a MUST order for us every time we come back. The khachapuri had salmon on it so I wasn't able to eat it but the tiny square I had without fish was delicious! I cannot WAIT to come back! Bathroom notes: The bathroom is also easily accessible and I believe there were 3 stalls and 2 sinks. Very clean.

Everything we ate at Deda was absolutely incredible. It's such a great spot to come for a date night, girls get together or with family. Don't skip on the desserts either! The Georgian donuts are always my favorite. bonus! parking is FREE here which I love.

My fiance and I have never tried Georgian food before, but we were curious so we decided to come here for Valentine's Day. The food was overall delicious. However we found the khachapuri heavier and saltier than anticipated - definitely goes well with a red wine and meant for sharing amongst a group of friends! Service was okay - it would take us a few tries to flag down our server. Would love to come back to try some of their other dishes.

We had an amazing experience at Deda Georgian Restaurant. This was my husband's second visit and our first time coming as a family, and it exceeded expectations. The restaurant is beautiful--new, tastefully designed, and warm, with an authentic Georgian feel. Coming from Georgian roots, we were excited to share this with family, and it truly felt like home. Parking was easy with a structure right next door, plus street parking. The hosts and staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, especially with our stroller and baby. Our waiter, Nova, was exceptional--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely made the whole experience special. Because of him alone, we'll definitely be back. We ordered a lot, and every single dish was outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Highlights included the Georgian salad, mezze platter, cheese board, Adjaruli and Imeruli khachapuri, puri bread, lemon chicken mtsvadi, pork mtsvadi with perfectly roasted potatoes and sauce, and the beef khinkali, which were beautifully made and delicious. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing. The wine selection was excellent--we especially loved the Saperavi--and the specialty drinks were just as impressive. Everything from the food to the ambiance to the service was spot on. We had such a great time and can't wait to come back and bring more family and friends. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Georgian cuisine done right.

You order at the counter. I usually end up getting one of the breakfast meals - and all of them have managed to be both flavorful and fresh - in many ways the opposite of the typical American breakfast. The "bowl of foul", which apparently rhymes if you pronounce foul the Armenian way, is something they advertise a lot on their menu - and for good reason. It's actually one of the least foul breakfasts I've ever had in my life. It's a delicious flavorful bean dip with generous breads on the side to eat with it - as well as a platter of fresh vegetables. Still my favorite food to get here. Also decent was their fatteh, which is cream, yogurt, chickpeas, and a lot of assorted nuts, all dolloped over fried pita bread. Also very good, but I'm just honestly not a huge fan of nuts. It also comes with the vegetable platter which is the perfect combo with the creamy chickpea thing. The food usually takes 10-15 minutes to come out, but that's because they're clearly preparing everything fresh in the back (you can kind of see them do this.) They also have a fountain machine, which is a huge plus to ice addicts like me. Everything is casual, but also very clean and neat. Honestly, it's also a very nice cafe to relax in, do work, talk with friends, etc. etc. This is very much close to the "optimal" place to me when it comes to taking friends out somewhere to reconnect. Anyways, this place is highly recommended for both a wonderful dine-in and dine-out experience. I try to stop by it as often as possible for their breakfast to the point where I can count on my fingers the amount of times I've had breakfast at a place that WASN'T the Old Sassoon Bakery. Honestly, this place stands as a towering achievement of mastering everything that "new hip trendy" food often isn't. It's super affordable, generous portions, super clean, fast service (but you can stay around as long as you want), and the main draw is just the delicious, flavorful, authentic food that very much lives up to all of the hype and more.

On to the food - we ordered the eggplant appetizer, it's similar to baba ghanouj but this one is a bit spicier and so yummy with the bread that came with it. We also ordered khinkali which is Georgian's version dumplings (we ordered the boiled version but there's also fried ones available). The skin is on the thicker side and was very chewy, the filling was well spiced with herbs, when you cut into it the juices come flowing out, yum! Our fav dish was the chimeruli which is baked hen drenched in a garlicky cream sauce that was more of a soup to me and i could not stop drinking it down! The hen was roasted so nicely with crispy skin, and along with the sauce just made the whole dish so hearty. Things are on the pricier side but I would still definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who's adventurous in trying different cuisines. It was interesting to note that they had two menus, one for Georgian foods, and the other for Armenian foods. Btw the restaurant charges a "non cash fee" for all non cash payments.

Khinkali House

Khinkali House

The OG Soup Dumpling: Why Khinkali House is Glendale's Best Kept Secret…read more Let's get one thing straight: if you think the "soup dumpling" started with a two-hour wait outside a Din Tai Fung, you're about 600 years late to the party. While the culinary world is currently obsessed with the delicate, bite-sized Xiao Long Bao--which didn't even show up until the 1870s in Shanghai--the Georgians have been perfecting this craft since the 13th-century Mongol invasions. Khinkali is the OG. It's the rugged, fist-sized ancestor that doesn't need a bamboo steamer basket or a delicate, nervous touch. It's a meal that requires soul, a bit of primitive technique, and a complete disregard for your clean shirt. Tucked away on Artsakh Avenue, Khinkali House is where you go to pay your respects to this ancient culinary titan. Atmosphere and the Art of the Rainy Day I happened to drop in on a rare, miserable rainy day in Glendale, and let me tell you, sitting out in their roomy, covered patio area while the water drummed against the roof was pure atmospheric gold. It's the kind of setting that demands heavy, unapologetic comfort food. The service here is sharp, warm, and attentive--the kind of old-school hospitality that makes you feel like a regular before you've even opened the menu. The Opening Act: Borscht with Soul You don't just jump into a pile of massive dumplings. You have to prepare the palate. I started with a bowl of their Borscht, and it was exquisite. It arrived as a deep, vibrant crimson pool of beet-infused soul, swimming with tender beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was earthy, slightly sweet, and served at a temperature that could ward off any chill in your bones. It's the kind of bowl that tells you immediately that this kitchen isn't just following a recipe; they're honoring a bloodline. The Main Event: The Four Pillars of Khinkali Then came the heavy hitters. Unlike the thin-skinned, elegant Xiao Long Bao, Khinkali is built for battle. It's a massive, boiled parcel with a thick, satisfyingly chewy dough gathered at the top into a sturdy little knot or "handle" (the kudi). You don't eat the handle--you use it to hoist the beast, bite a small hole in the side, aggressively slurp out the liquid gold trapped inside, and then devour the rest. I worked my way through all four flavors, and each was a masterclass in balance: Ground Beef & Pork: The classic heavyweight. The moment you pierce the dough, a rich, heavily spiced, aggressively savory broth floods your spoon. The meat is fatty in all the right ways, laced with herbs that cut through the richness. It is purely addictive. Lamb: A masterclass in bold, unapologetic flavor. The lamb adds a deeply gamey, sophisticated depth that grounds the entire dish. As it boils, the rendered fat mixes with the internal cooking liquids inside that thick doughy cavern to create a broth that is darker, earthier, and aggressively flavorful. It's a heavy, soulful revelation that hits you right in the chest. Mushroom: Often treated as a vegetarian afterthought in other places, here it's a star. It hits you with a massive wave of umami. The mushrooms are tender and earthy, producing a fragrant, woodsy liqueur inside the dumpling that makes you realize you don't need meat to create a complex masterpiece. Georgian Cheese (The Undisputed Champion): I'm just going to say it--this was my absolute favorite. It is an exercise in pure, primal decadence. Instead of a meat broth, biting into this unleashes a molten, gooey river of tangy, salty Georgian cheese. It pulls, it stretches, and the sharp, slightly funky bite of the cheese against the warm, thick dough is a spiritual experience. I could eat ten of these and die happy. The Return Trip The tragedy of Khinkali House is that the dumplings are so filling, you have to leave the rest of the menu unexplored. But I am already plotting my return. Next time, I'm coming back for the Adjarskiy Khachapuri--that famous Georgian boat-shaped bread loaded with melted cheese and crowned with a fresh egg yolk and a pat of butter. I also have my eye on the Zhengyalov Hatz (a traditional Armenian herb-filled flatbread), and the wildly intriguing Osetrina (Sturgeon) Skewer, which you just don't see every day. The Verdict: Respect the Elders Let's cut the noise. Xiao Long Bao is great for a polite, light lunch, but Khinkali is for when you want to feel something real. Khinkali House has managed to bring a 13th-century mountain staple to a Glendale patio and make it feel like the most relevant thing on the street. It's bold, it's historical, and it's flat-out delicious. If you want to experience the true evolution of the dumpling, get yourself to Khinkali House. Grab a handle, watch the rain, and eat like a Georgian highlander. You can thank me later.
