We got a table for a party of eight in the middle of the restaurant, and with it came the most breathtaking view of Diamond Head like you could reach out and snatch it. Our server was so friendly, perfect amount of chill, and he kept the drinks flowing all evening! I only had a few nibbles of the nearest appetizers to me and I don't recall the nibbles to be noteworthy. I do recall some startlingly stale chips. I look forward to having a proper meal here the next time I visit! And there is sure to be a next time!

My husband made a reservation at Deck. for my birthday, and we came during happy hour with our toddler. I was expecting something a little more formal after I saw the photos online, but the atmosphere was actually much more relaxed and casual and it worked great for us with a kid. It felt easygoing and comfortable. The food was very good. I had the Caesar salad with shrimps (you can choose the topping), and the shrimps were huge, fresh, and perfectly cooked. We also ordered truffle fries, sliders, calamari, and vegetarian rolls. My toddler especially loved the sliders. The happy hour menu felt perfect for sharing smaller plates and trying different things. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive without being over the top. One of the staff members even offered to take family photos for us and knew exactly where the best spot with the view was, which I really appreciated. The main downside for me was the cleanliness. Our table itself was fine, but the surrounding space felt messy (wet floors, straw wrappers on the ground, and a wet towel sitting on the floor for quite a while). Nothing dramatic, but enough to affect the overall impression a little bit. Overall, we still had a really nice birthday dinner there. Good food, beautiful views, friendly staff, and a laid-back atmosphere that worked surprisingly well for a family dinner with a toddler.

Great place for lunch with a nice view, tasty food, good service, island ambiance. Food 5/5 : We really enjoyed the French toast burger -delicious and a serving hearty enough for 2 o3 people. Sweet and savory together in a unique yummy preparation . The ricotta cheese pancake is a huge fluffy cloud and big enough to share. There are some nice mocktails also. Service: 5:5 Service was excellent thanks to our attentive, efficient, pleasant server, Patrick. Facility: 4/5 Island style. Open with ocean breezes, shaded and sunny tables, and a great view of Diamond Head . Only small poolside restrooms that also serve the pool, so be watchful of the wet floor. Parking is discounted hotel Valet parking starting at $10 -or you can park nearby on a shaded street and walk for a block or so, or park at the zoo. Location 5/5 conveniently located near the zoo and on the third floor in the hotel. This was a very positive dining experience and we would like to return soon. .

Tokyo style pancakes -IMO, quite bland, not a fan.

Good food, attentive & friendly service, and the views do not disappoint. The haupia French toast is the clear winner for breakfast.

My nephew wanted to come here for his graduation dinner. Happy hour was good. Ordered the short ribs , sliders, chicken wings and Caesar Salad and Brussel sprouts. All was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We sat on the inside so didn't see much of a view. We parked at the zoo.

Happy hour here is such a win, I can't believe I didn't know about it before. Got sliders, garlic truffle fries, hamachi carpaccio, and brussels sprouts (the last two modified for my allergies). They are SO on top of accommodations. Huge shoutout to Abby - perfect service, super knowledgeable, checked in just the right amount. 10/10 experience.

Service- 4 stars Food and drink- 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars I loved my evening at the Deck today! The view of Diamond Head was probably my highlight along with my date and the fact that it was an open air setting. I did not feel uncomfortable with an overpowering a/c setting and the weather was perfect for a dinner outside! I ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio that was served dressed with saved Maui onion, jalapeño Sukarno cilantro and chili threads and with salad. The sauce was delish and still thinking about the thinly sliced Hamachi. We ordered the Hot stuff cocktail and was my fav between that and the Nice Melons cocktail. The Hot Stuff cocktail came with jalapeño seasoning on the rim which provided an extra kick to the beverage! The reason why I would rate the service 4 stars is because I felt like we were being rushed to leave our table . I don't even think we were offered any dessert before our check was handed to us. Aside from that, I thought our waiter hustled and was very helpful.

Deck is easily one of my favorite spots for its unbeatable view of Diamond Head. I could sit there for hours just taking it all in. The atmosphere is super laid back, making it perfect whether you're meeting friends or for a special celebration. Deck has become my favorite place for happy hour. There were so many great options to choose from. The food and drinks were both on point, and it's hard to beat that combination with a view like Diamond Head. Our server was top tier--constantly checking in to make sure everything was good with our drinks and food. It made the whole experience feel easy and taken care of. Parking is convenient too, with options at the hotel or right across the street, which makes it even easier to stop by.

Came here for a wedding and the views are so beautiful! The food was pretty standard, but the view of Diamond Head was pretty insane. The bar was poppin' and I drank wayyyy too much.. that Deck Mai Tai stuff was STRONG I was getting faded off that drank.... I need to chill out.. LOL Service was so great and I was so full just from all the mini food samplers they had the servers bring out. Definitely a beautiful spot located in Queen Kapiolani Hotel! I would come back just to see the view again, although I can see this as an issue if the weather is too rainy.

Fun and vibrant with amazing views! Food was well executed but not super special. Would absolutely return! Mom got calamari and wedge salad - both good! I got the braised short ribs and I loved the garlic confit mashed potatoes. Service was quick and friendly enough. Even if the food was bad, I'd return for the volcano views!

Great place for cocktails with a view. However, I heard they no longer have live music here, which kind of sucks. The vibe was definitely different without it. Our server was very nice, but slow. Drinks are expensive $18 but that's expected.

The service here was fantastic . We made reservations and seated quickly. They had good happy hour deals. The happy hour drinks were delicious . We ordered a few appetizers - the truffle fries were crispy and a splendid starter. Brussels sprouts were great as were the sliders and fish tacos. The view for sunset was stunning - great experience overall.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

I went with the Barreled Old Man, a smooth, layered mix of bourbon, rye, and brandy that just worked, while my wife's Sesame Veil brought a nutty, balanced flavor that stood out. For round two, the Espressing My Love was a great take on an espresso martini, and Michael built my wife a custom drink off her favorite flavors and nailed it again. We paired it with the smoked mozzarella and salami grilled cheese and Ho Farms tomato soup, and this is where it really hit. The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.
