Great menu, attractive dining area, flavorful dishes. We came on Sat night around 6:30 and didn't have any trouble getting seated. Service was a little slow at the start...but eventually improved. My bride ordered the Tom Kha Soup - all veggies ($20) and really loved the flavor! I went with the Thom Yum Goong ($25) and it was pretty good - not as spicy was I was expecting. We both commented the tomatos could have been cut up smaller as they were a little hard to eat. The extra charge for rice ($4 each) - seemed a little aggressive.

Review - Lunch with a Friend at Dear Mom Cafe, Bend Oregon I recently had lunch with a friend at Dear Mom Cafe, located on Southwest Century Drive near Safeway. The experience overall was pleasant, with professional and polite staff who handled the essentials efficiently. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without delay, and the food arrived soon after. Service beyond those key points was minimal, but the staff carried themselves with courtesy and attentiveness. The restaurant itself was clean and neatly kept, with a calm atmosphere. On this Thursday at lunchtime, there were only a few other patrons, which made the space feel relaxed and unhurried. As for the food, my friend ordered the coconut curry noodles (Khao Soi) and enjoyed it. I went with Daddy's Garlic Shrimps, which certainly delivered on the garlic. The dish was flavorful, nicely plated, and paired with fresh garnishes that gave it a bright presentation. That said, I found the pricing a sticking point. My shrimp dish alone was $28, and while it was enjoyable, the portion size and overall quality did not quite justify the cost. Over time, and in many different cities, I have visited a wide range of Thai restaurants. Dear Mom Cafe would fall solidly in the top half of that group, but I would not place it among the very best. In fact, some of the more refined Thai restaurants I have dined at elsewhere offered food I enjoyed more in spaces with more polished ambiance and also with lower costs. I do not regret visiting Dear Mom Cafe, I am glad I tried it, the food was good, and the staff were welcoming. While it is a nice restaurant, based on the pricing (casual lunch for 2 - $53 plus tip) , I do not see myself returning.

The food was absolutely delicious! So much flavor and spice. Didn't try the cocktails but lots of good options and mocktails. Pretty large wine list as well. Decor was cute and very modern. The server didn't come back to check on us very much, but it was busy. I would come back because the food was so delicious. Definitely could split an order as the portions are very large, or take some home to go.

Checked out Dear Mom early this summer with family. I was sort of surprised to learn how many Thai places there are in Bend, and this restaurant was a new one to their repertoire. The location outside of town made parking easy. The overall atmosphere inside was stylish, and there was outdoor seating at the time as well. We buckled in to order our spread and started with Mom's Salad, which was really everything you could want out of a Thai salad--juicy, fresh, tart, spicy, and a nice change from my typical green papaya order. Next we had the Larb wings, which were such a cool textural riff on the more mainstream version of both dishes. They were nice and hot and crispy. For mains, we tried the Pad Gra Prow--a go-to standard, elevated with crispy fried basil; the Khao Soi with Crispy Chicken--a different take that was appreciated by some in our group (I think I'm partial to an un-fried chicken); the Sukothai Noodles and the Gang Hang Lay Pork Ribs. The Sukothai Noodles were good, but fairly pork focused and a bit sweeter, so I wished we had ordered another noodle dish instead, as they weren't enough of a contrast with the other dishes. The Pork Ribs were pretty tamarind forward, and a little less tender than I had hoped for. We had a non-fish eater in the group, otherwise I would've made a stronger push for some of the awesome catfish dishes. Beyond the food, I will note that unfortunately the restaurant started slammed, and service continued to be a struggle. I took note of the number of people on the floor and it appeared there was one server, and possibly the chef/owner helping out. We took it in stride, but at a certain point, it did feel unfortunate to see a lot of uncleared tables (including our own between courses). Knowing how challenging staffing can be, I hope Dear Mom has since been able to address these issues, because the food is amazing, and definitely worth the visit.

They are a good Thai restaurant located in Bend, Oregon. We visited during the holidays. Reservations was made in advanced on Open Table. We arrived on time and waited a few minutes to be seated. We ordered their chicken wing appetizer, pad thai and their paella. The food was good, just like the Thai food I can get in Southern California. Prices were higher than California Thai food. Just the name paella, they added about $10 to the price of their seafood fried rice. Service was okay. They checked up on us several times and made sure our cups were full. Dear Mom is the place to go if you need Thai food in this area.

Easy parking. Got a table right away. Attentive, funny, friendly waiter. If you're a rule follower like me, it will help you to know the "no modifications" blurb on the menu doesn't mean you can't ask for things to be omitted from your order. I got the pad Thai woosen and said I didn't want tofu and he said actually that's a typo- it doesn't even come with tofu unless you ask for it in place of shrimp! It said gluten free next to it so I felt comfortable ordering it... then it came out with gluten on it. I asked if it was gluten free... oops. He took it back, removed the won ton strips, and gave it to me again. So maybe don't go here if you have celiac. I was fine with it bc I'm only intolerant. My mistake for assuming the gf icon meant it came gf, I suppose. It was very good though. Salty/savory/sweet. My friend got the yellow curry and she said it was everything she hoped it would be but a little spicy and times.

BEST WINGS EVER. SENSATIONAL. SHOW STOPPING. WANTED TO ORDER ANOTHER PLATE. The Thai flavor is incredible. Punchy and perfectly balanced. The Thai paella was a HUGE HIT. So yummy. The green curry is not amazing so pass that lol. This place is very popular I believe so get a reservation if you can or some at opening. It's super cute inside. The food is incredible. The staff are so nice.

This has got to be one of the most flavor, packed restaurants that I have ever been to! All the flavors were married beautifully together. Not only was this visually appealing, but the taste was out of this world. The soup was definitely the best soup I have ever tasted, highly recommend this place!!! Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but I would order it again and again.

Dear Mom, The food is delicious at this restaurant! The owners pride themselves on changing up the menu several times a year to keep up with trends in Thailand. The owners moved to Bend from Portland and they're bringing the flavors to a town that already has excellent Thai food. My wife's Pad See Ew came with crunchy fried chicken pieces as the protein. It was a twist and it worked well. The Tom Yum soup was rich and flavorful with fresh chunks of veggies, mushrooms, and shrimp. The larb dusted wings were juicy. My only complaint is that that my Pad Krapow dish wasn't larger because I couldn't stop eating it. Actually, I have the same complaint about my wife's Tom Yum soup because it was all good. We look forward to going back and trying more dishes. (Khawp khun khrap - thank you)

Was originally searching for Thai food and first considered Wild Rose, but downtown parking can be such a headache. That's when I came across this place and I'm so glad I did! I had never heard of it before, but what a happy surprise. The atmosphere inside is absolutely delightful, beautiful décor, warm, and inviting. The food was just as impressive. I ordered the Pad See Ew and it was excellent, flavorful, well-balanced, and very satisfying. The staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining their menu. This spot feels like a hidden gem, and I'll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely delicious food, very attentive and sweet servers, very cute atmosphere, a 10/10 experience. I can't stress enough how delicious the food was!

Today was our fourth visit to Dear Mom Cafe and another successful meal. Their specials are hard to pass up and today was no different. I had the Thai Paella and my wife had the garlic shrimp specials. Mine was very flavorful, full of shrimp, calamari and a few clams. Mine was really good but her garlic shrimp was fantastic! We both enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. I also enjoyed a Westside Sparrow mocktail that was full of so many different flavors. We really enjoy our visits to Dear Mom Cafe and are already looking forward to our next visit.

In town for a concert in Bend, very impressed how walkable this outdoorsy town is. From my hotel I could walk to the supermarket as well as many restaurants including Dear Mom Cafe. Inside the style modern chic and the menu sports a traditional and rotating choice of specials. There's lots of neon light signs, grass walls, and other instagrammable touches. When I sat down it was pretty quiet, it was an early Monday evening, but there was a steady stream of locals coming in to pick-up take-out orders. The staff was very friendly and were clearly enjoying themselves as they went about their tasks. I opted for the Garlic Shrimp with a side of Mom's Fried Chicken. For once a garlic dish lives up to its name! If you love garlic you'll rejoice with this dish. The butterflied shrimp had great flavor and fried to the perfect point where it's crispy but not heavy. The sauce added more complexity without being too salty like other fish sauces. Mom's Fried Chicken was a great side: a fried boneless thigh with good flavor. Dear Mom Cafe was the perfect entry for me to Bend's growing food scene.

In fact, pretty much everything about Fire on the Mountain is casual. The staff was mellow, and it is a standard walk-up, order, get a number, and find-a-seat setup. That part went smoothly. We sat outside, which was a comfortable space. The whole restaurant feels airy, relaxed, and yes, very casual. Our order came out fairly quickly. The food was presented well, but this is where the experience fell short. My Straight-Up Chicken Sandwich lived up to its name. It was just that, a straight-up chicken sandwich. Nothing really set it apart from what I could throw together at home. The tater tots were straight out of a school cafeteria or from my own freezer and air fryer. Two thumbs up, however, for the Hawaiian Punch. I checked with my dining companions, and they agreed their meals were on the average side. One mentioned her BBQ chicken salad was overdressed. "Doused" was the word she used. The other said the barbecue sauce on his sandwich was thin and bland. Prices are right in line with what is common these days. Sandwiches run about $16 to $17, with $2 to $3 add-ons for cheese, bacon, etc. With tip, lunch for the three of us came to about $59. That is standard for Bend now, though it still stings. I pressed the printed ticket button but never received one, and I did not bother to ask. Not a big deal. Overall, it was a nice lunch with good company. The space is pleasant, and the staff covered the basics. But the food did not stand out, and there was nothing about the experience that would make me suggest to friends, "Hey, let's go to Fire on the Mountain." I will probably pass on a return visit.

No one likes the taste of processed wings. The other pro is the flavor is generally not awful. It's moderately good. So. The owners closed up shop downtown and created this new place on 2nd Street in Bend's Central District. It's now called Dogwood at the Pine Shed. Why Yelp won't create a new, distinct page for the Pine Shed is beyond me. That said, the Pine Shed is a fine place for drinks and food truck fare. The open, spacious 'shed' has plenty of varied seating surrounding a nice bar with quite a few tables outside on the patio. Mobility-challenged folks have choices too. For those worried about 2nd Street's reputation for sketchiness, don't be. Revitalization efforts by the city have transformed the area. At times of good weather, with the big doors open, the Pine Shed is quite a nice spot to relax. Cocktails were the raison d'etre for the former incarnation of Dogwood and that emphasis transfers here to the Pine Shed. I particularly like their versions of a margarita but the other cocktails are uniformly good too. The beer tap offerings are not so spectacular, however, with only four (and a cider). On one visit shortly after they opened for business, two beer taps were tapped out, which can be chalked up to growing pains. In any case, the Pine Shed can't be seriously regarded as a tap house in the style of the many others in Bend (On Tap, River's Place, Crosscut, The Lot, The Podski, Midtown Yacht Club, etc.). Come for the cocktails. They do offer low ABV and zero ABV drinks. At present, the food truck choices are abundant and pretty decent. Being trucks/carts, and thus mobile and prone to relocating themselves, I'll not list them here. Best to check the Pine Shed's webpage for current offerings and then go to the relevant Yelp page for reviews. Parking is street only, no parking lot. The city has completed construction on 2nd Street so there are more spots available than before.
