After wrapping up a work meeting at a nearby park, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood in search of coffee and came across Dear Diary. Having never been here before, the barista at the counter explained to me that they're a new plant-based coffee shop. As such, they offer your standard café drinks with multiple milk alternates, including but not limited to: oat, almond, soy, and hemp. Deciding to try out one of their seasonal drinks, I decided to go for the iced Scary Spice with oat milk. This drink featured a house-made pumpkin syrup with added levels of spice to it. Overall, it was quite tasty! The pumpkin flavor wasn't as strong as I'd like it to be, but thankfully it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet either. In terms of the spice, it was just the right amount for me, though I might caution someone who's particularly sensitive to spice from getting it. On the whole, I highly recommend trying out Dear Diary. The drink I got was tasty and the prices, despite being plant-based, were equivalent to regular coffee shops. This was a fun café in a cute neighborhood and I can't wait to come here again! read more

Fun fact - this coffee shop uses non-dairy milk options as the default which makes me *so friggin over the moon* as a vegan. I ordered the Cleopatra (a chai with pistachio syrup) which was the weekend special when I visited and it was a unique-spicy-sweet-slightly nutty delight. The shop itself is modestly-sized but there was plenty of open seating and the barista gave exceptionally warm reception. I'll definitely be back to try a couple other menu items and for some quiet reading time! read more

I'm surprised by the five stars! Maybe it was a "miss" day so I'll give them another chance but my oat milk latte was watery and my tacos from bistro vonish were microwaved. Why no silver heat tray thing like most tacos at coffee shops? Microwaved breakfast tacos when I can get fresh ones just doesn't make sense to me. I appreciate that they are from bistro vonish (especially cause the one time I went there there customer service SUCKED - but that's a review for a different time... so, I digress) and had tempeh or seitan in them (that one was actually tasty) but they seemed busy enough to have two employees working, not just the overworked one they had. read more

Great, friendly service! The barista explained all of the art on the walls, their subscription coffee, and what made Dear Diary different from other shops. The tacos are heated up on arrival and are some of the best vegan tacos I've ever had. They're more like burrito-samosas than a typical taco. Yum! We ordered the Vegg mac and cheese and the chickpea salad to share and I honestly can't decide which one I liked best. We got the kale side salad to go with each and it was very tasty too. The dressing and toppings were in separate containers so we wouldn't go home with a soggy salad. We also snagged a 64-oz of their iced tea to enjoy at home. We chose the mint tea with some raspberry syrup and it was a refreshing change from the water and coffee we've been drinking for the last several weeks.
