4th of July evening. Any chance to find someone to come and repair our gate? I didn't think it will be possible. But did call few local companies in DC. And what do you know, DC Gates experts took our call for from emergency roll down shutter repair. We knew it is going to cost us a lot, after all it is July 4th emergency. But sometimes you just need to find the right people. Just a tiny piece of metal that stick out and prevented the shutter from rolling down. $95. That is all we paid for the service. On July 4th night! God bless America lollolololol. Thank to David for the fastest service ever and for the dispatch who got a technician out to us on such a short notice. If you are reading my review and looking for shutters company in Washington, DC Gates experts is a company you should contact. read more

Overall 3 stars from me (7/2020). They were available on short notice which was nice and the garage was fixed quickly, but the cost was much higher than what I've paid in the past, and you don't find out until they're already at your house ready to address the repair ($30 evaluation fee if you don't end up using their service). Had a pretty simple issue with our roll up garage door - the cables disconnected. Explained the issue over the phone and was told that they couldn't give me a price estimate for the seemingly standard fix. Ok fine, how bad could it be for the job that took under 30 minutes? $350. Seeing as I paid $150 less for the same job in the dead of winter from another company in the past, I wasn't too pleased, but as we share the garage with others I wasn't in a position to decline the service and have another company come in. Will go somewhere else next time. read more

I have a lot of respect for someone who drive to your home to help you even when it is late and freezing outside. Called last night and asked for service on our garage door. Got a window for today 8:30AM. Was about to call at 8:30 when no one showed when I got a call from the tech telling me he is outside. Already a good start. He opened and closed the door few times and showed me a broken wheel that caused the problem. His recommendation was to replace all 10 wheels to make sure this will not happen again. And promised me the door will work better. And he was so right! The door got back to work, and that annoying squeaky noise that followed each time we used the door was gone. read more

Where other failed or ran away scared, DC Gates Experts jumped in. We own a warehouse with a really big sliding gate/door. Met with few technicians for estimations on repairing/replacing the motor. All were happy over the phone, and got scared after seeing the gate. DC Gates experts were bold over the phone and in real life. Measured the gate, sent me email with detailed estimation next morning and took the job. Team of 4 technicians stormed into the job. Ladders, welding machines, cables, scissors and a lot of professionalism. We all stood there and watched them working. Professionals. You can see the the photos I am attaching, and you will learn that the job was not for amateurs. DC Gates Experts, you are real experts. read more

I want to share with you a story about a gentleman name amed who got our gate fixed on the day on 4 of July. I can say that I could enjoy the holiday thanks to him. He drove to us on the holiday at 3 AM and helped us close and secure the big rolling gate that protect our warehouse. He really went a long way to help us secure the store and make the overhead door close so we can all go home and enjoy the holiday (if not for him we would work in Shifts to keep the place protected. 5 stars. Fun to work with experts who can do multiple things. We just had enough of repairs of our barn doors and the gates. We just wanted something that will stop the need to call local company ever second week. And it is not just one company. We had one who serviced our drive way automatic gate, and another to service our barn doors. But not anymore. DC Gates experts changed all 3 arm motors, and since then everything is working beautifully. And one small but big extra: new arm motors can be connected to a smartphone. Make things a lot easier. read more

Not surprised at all by all the great reviews DC gates experts gets here. We were in need for emergency overhead door repair and got everything we needed from the experts! 1. Availability? Sunday evening. Will they be there? They were there! 2. Professional? They knew what the problem wand what to do. 3. Quick? Had all the parts needed with them. 4. Pricey? Did not take advantage of the late hour, and charged us the price I agreed to. I think this short review will help home owners in Manassas choose the right contractor for the home service they need. DC gates experts is a company I hired, and will hire again if any garage door service will be needed. read more

I learned something important from the technician of DC gates experts: let the experts do what they do best. I assumed that replacing garage door spring is as easy as 1 2 3. Watched couple video tutorials and drove to Home Depot to buy springs. It almost cost me a finger! Be careful. I called DC gates experts and had Amed come to my place. I don't know about other technicians, but I hope you will be lucky to get him to service your garage door. He explained to me that the springs I purchased are made for a door half of mine. And that if I would insist on installing the spring I purchased it could end with a disaster. But at least I did the job right! Right? Amed brought 2 big heavy springs from the track and started working. He slowly removed the old springs and tight the new ones. He made it seems so easy. This is the time to tell you all: This is the company you want to use to fix your garage door. read more

They came immediately to check out my need and give me a quote on a price to replace my simple wood gate (price was high, but I wanted to get this done, so I accepted). That was a month ago. I've texted several times about setting a date to do the work. Was asked if I could wait until after Ramadan, which I said yes, "if you promise to actually come on May 13." I texted this morning (May 13) to see when he was coming, no response. So I called someone else. It has been 6 weeks since I initially said yes to their crazy quote. I'm not waiting any longer. I wish I had just been told 6 weeks ago, sorry we can't do this job. Frustrating when you are being so accommodating, but clearly my little overpriced job is not a priority. read more

Needed garage door repairs. Got a recommendation about DC Gates experts from another contractor I used in the past but only do commercial jobs. And did not get disappointed! Very knowledgeable, and very friendly. Completed the service on first visit, and made our garage door work so quiet again without replacing the opener. Tip for anyone who use garage doors: Buy some silicon lubricant and spray the door every 3 or for months. You will see the difference right away. Highly recommended for garage gates repairs in Washington DC. read more

Always choose carefully whether it's where to eat online (YELP) or whether the owner of a restaurant treats their employee's right. I actually do research stuff like that. I saw good reviews, & I noticed that their website said something to the effect of "don't just rush out & replace your existing door. Let us inspect it & see if it can be repaired." (I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it.) That kind of thing really resonates with me. That's integrity. When my technician showed up, he was professional, kind of friendly & personable. He was patient & informative truly helpful. He found that he could indeed fix my garage door without replacing much of anything. Once he got the parts, he had my door opening & closing itself in no time. I highly recommend DC Gates Experts they have good reviews everywhere .Trust me is very important to always have it in mind because if you ever need something from them in the future. You know the company is going to always have you're back and would provide excellent services. read more

It is not happen that often that I find a contractor worth recommending. And after years of managing home improvement and different construction projects. I am happy to rate a contractor 5 stars. From the first call to the office asking for estimation, to the job nicely done, I can tell you all DC gates are experts. On time Email with detailed estimate, answer to all my questions, and detailed schedule for job stare and end. And not just words, they honored their promises. when I asked to speed up things they didn't just say yes like other contractors do. they told me we cant promise, but we will do our best. I have a lot of respect to it. Bottom line: DC gates is one of the best companies I used during numerous construction projects all over the east coast. read more

I scheduled a service appointment (a two-hour window), but the technician never showed up. To be fair, the company was responsive and apologetic when I called back. They agreed to send a technician later that day. When the technician called to discuss the problem, he said I needed a new opener (Liftmaster 1/2 HP) and quoted a price of $650 for labor and materials. I decided to get other quotes instead, and received two in the $300-$350 range for the same opener plus labor. read more

Need new garage door opener. Asked around and everybody told me the same thing: DC Gates Experts is the company to call. I called and we agreed to meet the next morning. They sent Mikel their installer. He gave me few options, and told me that no matter who I will choose to install new garage opener for me, the opener should be Lift-Master. They are the best. I asked when can he install the new opener, and he answered" Right now. I agreed and he started removing the old opener. One hour of hard work and he called to let me know the new opener is installed, and that he is ready to over the details. I didnt even know that I got a new opener that has a back up battery and that I can open and close from my IPhone. Conclusion: DC gates experts deliver better than we thought we will get. Now I know why everybody told me to call them. read more

I know one thing: You can tell when you see a good contractor and when you are seeing an amateur. The installers from DC Gates experts are not amateurs. The day I met with David, and from the questions he asked, as well as the answers he gave me, I knew I am talking to the right person. I didn't even care anymore if the other contractors we called will show or not (They did not). Simple questions others didn't ask: How many times a day you will be using the gate? This question contain the answers to most other questions. (The more times you open and close electric gate, the more strong the motor you need). I told him bout 100 times each day. He laughed and told me one thing: No matter how many estimates you will get, do not settle for cheap. The right system will be working even after 20 years. The wrong one can work 3-5 years, and the problems will start. So you will find you spent 3 times the amount you tried to save. So if you are planning to install automatic gate, ask yourself how many times a day you will be opening and closing it. It took DC gates experts 2 weeks to build the gate and get the parts. Sunday morning 3 installers set the foundations to the posts of the gate and the structure for the wires. Cement and a lot of drilling and digging. Tuesday they returned to complete the installation. 2 new motors and 8 remotes were supplied. All made by a company called Lift Master (Did my homework, they are making very strong motors). I want to thank David, Roy, Miguel and Ray for such a great service and for making our business secure again after the old automatic gate collapsed. read more

Glad to have found this place on yelp . I was able to have them come and fix my gates this week and they worked on my time which is great and when they showed up those days the work was done pretty fast and super efficiently . This has to be a fake company. I called them on Monday for fence repair. They told me someone would come between 1-2. Someone call around 12:30 pm which caught me off guard but it was ok. Now this is when I should've seen the red flags. I get a call from a personal number that he is here for the fence repair. I come outside, he looks at my fence, doesn't take any measurements, and told me he will get back to me with a quote through email. The guy told me to text him with some of my information. It's been nearly 4 days and no response. I even texted yesterday when could I expect a quote, and I got left on read. I could not be more disappointed with the lack of professionalism, but they must mask their work with all these fake reviews they write themselves. read more

Read most review. If I ignore the one that obviously was written by a competitor or someone that clearly say he will post a review every day (I don't know why yelp don't do something about it), I agreed with most. And I was so happy to see so many great reviews. Why? I will tell you. Do you know that feeling when a service provider does something for you that you thought will cost a lot, and ending with something not even close to it? This is what happened to me after DC Gates Experts came to repair our gate. When we saw the gate Monday morning we thought the gate is lost, stuck and cant be opened. One of our delivery trucks backed into it and pushed the gate out of the rails. We prepared for the worst, and got the great news when Victor told us it is a 20 minutes job. And he wasn't wrong, 10 minutes on the ladder, another 10 by the motor, and our gate was working again. To make a long story short: Call DC Gates, serious people. read more

First let me say, a week ago I wrote a bad review for this company, I just learned the company vacant pay yelp to remove bad reviews. So here I go again. And I'll post it every day until my voice is heard. I am very mechanically inclined and fix most things myself. Because if time constraints I could not look at a gate door that was stuck in the open position. The tech came out as promised. The problems started as soon as soon as he got out of the truck. Without even looking at possible problems or the reason why it could be stuck open he said "the arms need to be replaced, you have a hydraulic leak". He never took off the inspection plate to see a leak. I asked him how he knew this and he said. I've seen this a lot and they don't make this anymore it's obsolete. I'll install a new and different set of arms for $5500. I said I'll need to get other quotes and ask if he could just manually get it closed. He said he would for $450. I of course asked why so much? He sId it would be very hard and time consuming. His boss agreed to $400. We had to have it closed so we agreed. He then proceeded to cut the steel arm with a cut off grinder closed the door and collected his money. IT TOOK HIM 20 MINUTES!!! so much for hard and time consuming. NOW IS THE BEST PART..... 1. Lie #1. I found on-line they exact parts and units are still made. Part would cost me $650 2. Lie #2. There was no hydraulic leak. Nothing was wrong with it. 3. Since he did not check I discovered the real problem was the door got stuck on a rock causing the breaker to trip. THAT WAS THE ONLY THING WRONG. NO ELECTRICITY TO THE CONTROL PANEL!! 4. Lie #3. He did not have to cut the steel to close the door. I found a perfectly operating manual release mechanism to close and open the door manually. 5. HE RUINED A PERFECTLY GOOD AND FUNCTIONAL DOOR BY CUTTING THE STEEL. 6. Now I'm forced to buy a new part for $650 7. I registered a complaint and the owner never called me back. Had he called me back and made it right I would not be writing this. Please don't ever use this company unless you like wasting your money and being taken advantage of. read more

So, I got a call about 20 minutes after I published my review, from the technician, apologizing and seeing if we could find a convenient time ("anytime" - though that didn't include Saturday). Great experience. The repairman came out the same day and replaced the spring on my garage door. I was very impressed with his efficiency.

Following up on my prior review, the supervisor came out and remedied the situation, which included a detailed review of the second issue and a resetting of the price for the project. He was very professional and apologetic for the previous repairman's work. I would call them again to repair my doors. read more

AVOID THESE CRIMINALS I was cautious after seeing a couple other reviews that said they did not show up. I received communication right away to book the appointment on Saturday. We scheduled for Monday b/w 2-4pm. I was told I would receive a call 10 min before they arrived. The window came and went. No one called and no one showed up. They wasted my afternoon. Then, I get a call from the technician begging me for a second chance saying he will be fired if I don't let him come and it was a scheduling mistake. He comes to the second appointment and promised what seems to be a great service & I pay the deposit. While I am out of town working, I receive a phone call from the technician saying he is at my house and he needs to know where the outlets are outside. Now, if you are at my house wouldn't you know this? I ask him this but he just keeps asking me. His solution is in order to install what he promised me we need to run an extension cord from my garage down my driveway to the garage door they are supposed to install. An extension cord? I would never have agreed to this. Why did he not look for the outlets during the estimate? He wrote no measurements down at all. I had to hang up the phone b/c I was at work. The company called me 7 times in a row even though I told them I was working. Now, they are saying they will refund my deposit but have yet to do so and it has been a week. I am going to dispute the charge on my credit card if they do not refund my deposit ASAP. They promised a service they cannot deliver and are now not returning my deposit. This is actually THEFT!!! If I don't get my money back, I will dispute the charge and resolve this even if I have to take them to court. read more

To Summarize: They tried to charge $360 in parts and $180 in labor for a part that worked fine and only required a 10 minute adjustment. They tried to charge $300 and $180 in labor for a rubber hose. I directly asked Dave if he knew which part he was claiming was broken and he lied to my face. When I confronted the company about it they backed up Dave regardless of me proving he was a blatant scam artist. This place operates under a few other names that I'm aware of, 24/7 Garage door repair, Garage and gate company, and All in one garage door and gate repair. I called because my rolling steel garage door wouldn't go all the way up or stop when it reaches the ground. Also the sensor on the bottom of the door didn't work. They quoted me a $95 dollar service fee just to show up and were purposely vague about their other prices. They said they charged per item repaired but couldn't give me a quote about the items I needed. The tech Dave arrived within the service window and spent about 20 minutes examining the opener. He told me I had a bad limiter switch and that the sensor at the bottom of the door would be need to be replaced as well. He said the limiter switch was part of the main control board and so the whole board needed to me replaced. I know what a limiter switch looks like and didn't see any on the control board but did see 4 on the bottom of the box that contained all the control electronics. I asked if he meant these limiting switches and he said no the limiting switches are electronics soldered to the control board. He quoted me $360 for the control board, $300 for the sensor at the bottom of the door and $360 to install both. With taxes the total came to over $1100. Knowing that I could at very least find the parts for less than that I wrote him a check for $95 and sent him on his way. I looked up the model number of the opener online and found a service manual. That manual explained the incredibly simple process of adjusting the distance the door travels up and down by adjusting two plastic wheels on a threaded rod. It also confirmed that the limiter switches were not on the control board like Dave claimed. After about 10 minutes of adjusting I had the door opening and closing correctly. When I examined the sensor at the bottom of the door I discovered that it used a rubber tube to force air into a sensor that would stop the door. The sensor worked fine but the rubber hose had been chewed through by rats. I called my bank and stopped payment on the check, called the company and told them Dave had tried to rip me off and that they wouldn't be getting paid. They insisted Dave must have meant there was a bad capacitor or some other component on the board that needed to be replaced but didn't have any explanation for why simply adjusting the wheels according to the manual fixed the problems. read more
