Duck breast, sausage pizza, salmon. All delicious.

The parents get a pass. They were once downstaters that moved upstate. But they had hailed previously from rural places, so they weren't the "typical" transplant from a concrete jungle to the rolling hills and easier pace. It's been a lifetime since they moved up, and over the years since the migration from the city to here became more substantial. Some were concerned that the culture would change and change is always difficult for some. And change isn't universally good. Sometimes things are just fine the way they are. I'm happy to report that the world has not ended, and while there are more than a handful of downstate customs that transplant poorly all in all from my vantage point it's gone pretty well. One aspect that I personally welcome is the food. The transplants have made an economy for small farms and family food businesses that were beaten almost out of existence by industrial agriculture and federal food policy have more than a toehold. To vanquish faceless industry and the government at the same time, and in a way that makes your mouth happy and your belly full is winning. Winning in a really good way. Dazzo's exemplifies much of this for me. I'm only back a few times a year, but every time I visit I visit here. I'll bring mother, make Christmas presents out of gift certificates, other things. I enjoy them so much. The food is always delicious and clearly carefully prepared. Front of house staff and servers are fun and friendly and compliment the dishes and atmosphere so perfectly. You have more options in this part of the world than you used to, which is splendid. But this spot will always be near the top of your list. Of this I am very, very sure.

Delish! Got the fennel sausage wood fired pizza but substituted for an oil and herb base! Great choice while between games at All Star Village. Sat at the bar and had great service! Highly recommend.

Food is amazing and staff is attentive. It's gets crowded fast so either make reservations or arrive when they open. Eric the chef is great and I love that they have something new to try every time I come. The specials are usually up my ally so I enjoy the new dishes.

This was a small out of the way italian spot that was deceiving on the outside but warm and welcoming inside ! The food was outstanding !! I ate at the bar since I was solo and enjoyed the company of folks around me.. the food was homemade and superb, felt like being in my grandma's kitchen. Highly recommend !! Service was great and very helpful.

They have an outdoor dining space bedecked with gorgeous flowers, as well as a cozy indoor dining room. It was a busy night but our server was warm, welcoming and attentive. My glass of Croatian rose wine was well balanced, fruity and a nice pour. Partner's cocktail "Illyrian Beauty" was scrumptious and served straight up (rather than overly diluted with ice, a pet peeve of ours). Shrimp with feta cheese starter was a pleasant surprise, the shrimp bathed in a green sauce made with fresh arugula and garlic. Slices of homemade bread came in handy to mop up that yummy sauce. Half chicken topped with pomegranate and corn was tasty and succulent, came with a generous side of lemon potatoes and well dressed greens. My branzino, a well crisped filet topped with a delicate lemony sauce and healthy greens on the side, was the best preparation of the dish I've ever enjoyed - seriously! It's too easy to ruin this delicate fish, but Oda elevated it to new culinary heights. We will definitely stop by again. Hint: They're popular so reservations are a good idea.

Cheerfully greeted by a nice person who was thrilled someone was trying her restaurant for the first time. Seemed it would be a pleasure! Banter! Joy! The location is adorable - an historic inn with lovely interior stone walls a nice bar, a dining room hung with farm implements and your usual skinny staircase and sunny porch. Absolutely thrilled by the continental and sometimes quirky selections (sweet and sour schnitzel? Why not!) Ordered quickly, letting the waitress know of time constraints. Half an hour later she brought the salad course. An hour after that, the manager or maître d' -- she never said but she did clearly have some authority and was the boss of the waitress--stopped by to inform the table that the delay was potato pancakes. The chef had apparently felt compelled to make a whole new batch of potato pancakes from scratch. And therefore it was our fault the food was taking so long. This would make sense if the table next to us wasn't also waiting twenty minutes for buffalo wings. And if our waters had been refilled. And if there were apologies rather than resigned excuses. The explanation landed like a desperate attempt at humor as the Titanic made a turn directly for the iceberg. No offer of even a comped cup of coffee, not a glass of wine, or even a sincere wish that things would go faster. We could do nothing but feel sorry for her and her staff in this wonderful little local inn and wonder who the monster was who is running the kitchen -- my beef stroganoff was terrific but the plate that made us late held a couple of small sausages, a large scoop of red cabbage and three jam-lid sized mashed potato fritters which could just as easily have been replaced by literally any starch... it was ninety minutes start to finish in this bizarre mystery of a restaurant. Was the chef on strike? Having a bad day? His front of house worked so very hard to cover for him. I have only sadness for this glorious little place - my favorite kind, locally owned, delicious dishes, deep pours. But I will only go back when I don't have a long drive ahead of me -- or perhaps for a laugh with people from the City who don't know how to slow down.

Although our server was nice, she was often slow and not readily available. She and other runners/servers did not bring many things we ordered/asked for. 1 friend never got his side of pasta for his entire meal, another did not get his glass of wine when others who ordered at the same time as him got theirs. My girlfriend had to ask 3 times for a steak knife and we were constantly begging for basic items like drinks and ketchup. The predatory billing practices here are shocking: 20% Automatic Gratuity: ok, this is not unusual for large groups in many resistant, but clearly explained why the staff felt no need to actually serve and take care of us. 10% "Living Wage Fee": A mandatory tax on the customer because the owner refuses to pay their staff properly! Never experienced this fee firsthand only saw it online. An absolute joke to expect us to give an extra 10% to your staff because you're not paying a reasonable salary! $30 Cake Slicing Fee: We brought a birthday cake. They stored it and brought it out, but we ended up taking it home without them ever touching or slicing it. They still had the nerve to charge us $30 just for the "privilege" of having it in the building. When we spoke to the manager about the 10% surcharge, he acted like we were the problem and talked about how they are trying to make a living. We were all asking ourselves why he's not paying them a fair salary?? why is it our responsibility to pay even more, particularly for poor service! The food is fair at best and wildly overpriced. Definitely go anywhere else as this place is an overpriced tourist trap with lousy service!
