I try to avoid donuts most of the time, but I do fall into temptation from time to time. Eating Daylight Donuts makes me feel a little less guilty. There's definitely a crowd gathered on weekend mornings for those delicious fried doughy balls. They have lots of seating and you can get a dozen donuts for about six bucks--a good deal since a half dozen cost about five bucks with tax. The donuts from daylight donuts are good. Not great, certainly not terrible, but good. My biggest issue with the place is their unique take on some conventional donut names. While it's technically a chain, Daylight Donut's locations are few and far between and the atmosphere inside feels more like a small town place than a chain. As for the donuts, the sour cream or the old fashioned are probably my favorites in general after a hot Krispy Kreme (but those are kind of in a league of their own). The also have a really good apple fritter. I don't get their donuts often, but am always excited when I get a chance to have some. read more

Bought a dozen donuts. Really liked the French crueler...crispy and soft. Enjoyed the lemon crisp as well. Would have been my favorite if more filling had been added to the donut. (Everyone who had a filled donut had same complaint-just a small dollop inside.) Would have ranked this higher, but felt that customer service was lacking. Don't expect a warm and friendly family-run business. The gentleman helping me was definitely annoyed with my questions, he never smiled, and coolly handed over my box of donuts. These donuts are amazing!! They have the BEST apple fritters around and their chocolate glazed old fashioned donut is AMAZING! Every time I've gone there, the service is great and the donuts are fresh and delicious. I've tried some of the newer "gourmet" donut shops that have opened recently - one I do not like at all, the other is good, but I only get crazy cravings for Daylight Donuts. Get a dozen mixed and eat them all with a big glass of milk. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. The angelcake donut is creme is sweet and yummy. Love this place. My one warning would be go early! By 9am they have practically nothing left. I ordered an apple fritter and my kids ordered plain donuts. The fritter was light and delicious and not too sweet. The kids donuts looked light and fluffy. We go here any time one of us gets up early enough to get a good selection. read more

i'm almost always working during Daylight Donuts business hours, so today was my first time in. my coworkers had brought some in before, so i already knew that this place was where it was at. i haven't had donuts this good since i left San Diego. i finally managed to pop in thirty minutes before they closed, an even though it was late, Del was cheerful and happy to help me out. he took the time to let me take in the varieties, explain the flavours, etc... i bought two dozen and a bag of donut holes for a very reasonable price. moment of truth- i just got them home and bit into my favourite flavour, and i was shocked and relieved at the quality of the dough. this is the place i've been looking for. my only regret is that i didn't buy more while i could. these are truly special donuts, with an above and beyond atmosphere and customer service. thanks, Del! you took my experience to the next level. i'll absolutely be back just as soon and as frequently as my schedule allows. read more

The donuts are good. They are bit more cakey than other places, but I guess that also makes them more filling. There's definitely some room for improvement in the customer service area. I don't expect super friendly service, but a good attitude would be nice. We keep going back because the location is convenient and the donuts are decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here though. read more

Daylight Donuts has been my go to store for donuts for quite a while. Every time my children had a school function this is where I would shop. Sometimes on the way in to the work I would stop by and get a couple of dozen old fashioned donuts for the guys. This morning at 06:57 I decided to surprise my crew and stopped in on the way to work. I asked for a dozen old fashioned chocolate and a dozen old fashioned vanilla frosted. There appeared to be more than enough to fill my order.The disgruntled man behind the counter actually told me that he preferred to not sell me his old fashioned donuts. He asked me to please call ahead. He complained that he only made so many. This visit was spur of the moment. I had never been refused or attempted to be persuaded before to not purchase a specific donut. I was actually told by a very pleasant employee before that if I wanted old fashioned donuts, the earlier the better. I had never before encountered a man in business selling a product that did not wish to sell to me. He grunted and sighed and said that he really did not want to sell the old fashioned donuts. I walked out. I will never return. One person will not make or break this shop but there are competitors out there that will offer a similar product and be more than happy to sell me its existing inventory. He was muttering something when I left that I could not understand. I bought the guys Krispy Kreme and told them of my unpleasant experience with Daylight Donuts. I have dealt with rude behavior before from this shop but no longer does the benefit of the product outweigh the negative aspect of the management. read more

We had stopped in here after seeing people come in and out as we sat and ate Bruegger's a few doors down. After a few Sundays later, we decided to check it out. There were two workers and there was a line, but it went quickly. We told the girl behind the counter that we have never been here before and wanted to see what they had. She was very enthusiastic and welcoming towards us as she described what she had in the case. What caught out attention was the incredibly low price of their "munchkins.. or "donut holes" is what they called them. I felt like I had robbed them because I spent under $5 on a half dozen donut holes and two donuts. The dontuts were fantastic- completely not what I expected. Dunkin Donuts sucks compared to them. What I really liked is that daylight donuts makes their donuts.. unlike dunkin who receive them frozen. read more

This is the BEST place for donuts! Dunkin has made theirs smaller, and they are usually stale with very little cream filling. Very poor selection, and people who say "You're welcome" when you thank them for what you just bought! Daylight is fantastic in customer service, freshness, supply (call your order in - they will have them ready for you and you don't have to worry about what is left when you get there.) This place is absolutely AWESOME. The donuts are great, but the crumbcake is to die for. When my family came to visit from Philly I bought it for them and my father said it was best he'd had since he was a little kid. Ever since then I always order a whole one to take home when I go visit. The family at DD has always gone completely out of the way to fulfill any special orders I may have and they are very friendly to all their customers. My favorites, in no particular order: apple crumb, blueberry, coconut with chocolate frosting, toasted coconut, and Boston creme. You can get a dozen for around $7-8 which is an absolute steal. At Daylight Donuts, the customer is always wrong. A couple years ago, I had a coupon for Daylight Donuts -- "buy one menu item..." get another of equal or less value free. Their menu was posted on the wall. The first listing was "1/2 dozen donuts," but the clerk said she wouldn't honor the coupon on a 1/2 dozen donuts. "It's the first item on the menu, isn't it?" I asked. "Yes," she replied with no further explanation. I left and hadn't been back until today. I must not have been the only one who thought a "menu item" was a "menu item," because now their coupon says "buy one donut or muffin." So I ordered the eclairs sitting in the front counter and was told those aren't donuts and don't qualify for the coupon. Never mind that the things are actually rectangular donuts and not eclairs, which are completely different bakery products. But is it really worth the few pennies more that it cost to produce the faux eclair to alienate a customer? Save yourself the trouble and drive 1/4-mile further up Creedmoor Rd. to Dunkin Donuts.
