I came to remove my acrylic nails. Someone came in after me so they had me soak my nails in acetone which is normal but my hands were soaking in acetone for 15 minutes. I have sensitive skin so I would take them out every so often cause my skin was hurting/burning and she kept telling me to put them back in. Well, if you were there to scrap off the acrylics instead of leaving me to do someone else's nails then I wouldn't have to take them out! Finally, she came back to me and cut my nails way too short. Idk who cuts them like this. The owner told my lady to "file it neatly and put oil on it" in Vietnamese. My nails were not filed nearly at all. I'm gonna go home just to cut off the remaining. I haven't been here in more than a year now. They do quality nails but charge obscene prices and I couldn't afford to keep up my nails. I thought "you get what you pay for" and for the most part I found that to be true having visited half a dozen other salons in El Monte and others in different cities. But I found my way to a salon that does near flawless work for extraordinarily reasonable prices. I believe the owner here is trying to keep the business going by charging high end salon prices. Which, I cant really blame her for. But you don't get the high end experience so it just can't be justified. Also the whole reason I kept returning was for Quinn, but she moved to another salon. Owner Ann does beautiful work but it seems like it's just her for nails. She stayed open late to do my nails and my daughters multiple times which honestly just made me feel kinda bad for her. Sofia never disappoints. She is so detailed. I am a horrible picker of nails and cuticles....until I met Sofia! My hands stay lovely. She puts gel over my now natural long nails. One of nail was hurting so I searched around for a quick mani. Called in the morning and luckily they squeezed me in. Quynh welcomed me in and directed to her station. From previous experiences, I just do simple mani till I can go back to my location. Told her I just wanted a simple mani with no color. She took her time doing my cuticles while we had small talk. One of the things that weirded me was her comment on my hands. She was saying it's working hands.... I said yes " I do the dishes, cook and cleaning. I'm constantly washing my hands.." I've been going to this salon for several years now. The ladies here are always cheery & pleasant. They take their time when they are working on my Manicure & Pedicure. Conversations with them are always funny. Turns out that they are very much a bunch of foodies! As always, they would ask for you to sign in & check off what type of service you would like. Pick your polish colors & take a seat on one of the massaging chairs. I noticed after every client that leaves, they would sanitize & scrub the basin clean. It's nice to see that it's kept clean & sanitized, ready for the next client. Since it was a special day for me to get a Mani & Pedi, they paid extra attention when they were painting my toes & the Gel Nail Polish on my hands. Finding a good nail spa is very difficult. I not only look for cleanliness, but also quality work, spa pedis, good customer service and color selection. In my opinion, Day Nail Spa fulfills all those requirements (Especially since recently, they added more gel colors! ) It took a while to find a good place in the area after having moved nearby about a year ago, but finally after months and months of mediocre manis and pedis at other places, I finally found the place that I'm happy with. Anne is very nice and practically remembers every one of her returning clients names! Sometimes the wait period varies especially when it's difficult to foresee how many clients will walk in at any given moment, however, I usually show up bright and early in the morning and I'm usually the first one there... Even sometimes before the workers! But they're always on time and I'm in and out in about an hour for a mani/pedi or 1 1/2 hours for a gel mani and pedi. They take their time, so make sure you're not in a hurry and the prices are a tad bit higher than their competition, but in return, they do excellent work. It's too bad that soon I'll be leaving the area once again and my search for a great nail place will continue elsewhere, but for all the others who are fortunate enough to be nearby or at least in the area, do yourself a favor and try this place out. read more

Its unfortunate that I have to write a poor review since the owner seemed so friendly over the phone. I made a reservation on Sunday for 5 mani/pedis + eyebrow threading for the following Saturday. The owner said it was not a problem. We arrived on time for our 2:30pm appointment to see that there were only 4 technicians working, and 3 of them already had clients-and by the looks of it, had JUST started. They sat 3 of us in the spa chairs to soak our feet and started working on one while the other 2 sat and waited while their feet turned prune-y. Our fifth member did not start until 3:30pm, a whole hour after our appointment time. What's the point of making an appointment (& well in advance, in my opinion) if you're still going to have to wait one hour? and WHY WHY WHY would you schedule 5 mani/pedis when only 4 technicians are working?!? One word: unacceptable. Our group didn't finish up til around 430 and decided to skip the eyebrows and went over to Kaya instead where there was almost no wait at all, and we didn't have to make an appointment. Chairs are a little rundown, definitely have seen better. Polish line is a little lacking - and I couldn't open many of them myself cause they were so crusted from old polish. Reason I even gave 2 stars - my technician (i forgot to get her name) was very friendly and talkative. When I accidentally scratched the polish on two of my fingers, she cleaned them up and re-polished them without any complaints. read more

I been to this spa numerous times and finally got around to writing a review. The staff are very friendly and detailed with their work. I got Ann 2 times for my nails and she was super detailed and patient doing the design I requested. I wanted a gel nails with a contrast color on my ring finger. On top of that, I wanted diamond studs on my ring finger and middle finger. I was super happy with how it came out! Ann was satisfied that I left feeling awe on her work. I used to come to Day Nails Spa all the time but it became to pricey for me (I was also working a shitty part-time) lol so, I went to those other two locations to save money. Came into to get new set of gels yesterday and loved the color that Sunny chose for me! I orginally picked a pink shade but when she checked it out she thought I might not like it because it's more orangey/coral color and i wanted pink. So she chose shade #344 which is a light bright pastel pink color. very cute and compliments my light skin color. I also chose a gold glitter to put on my ring finger but the color came out yellow than gold... so they have lots lots lots of colors to choose from that you cant make up your mind!! but some of the colors do not look exactly like the ones on display so be careful and choose a second one just in case. read more

Been going there for years now, but after 3 times of really bad service, I am out of there. I am a very patient person, but after a girl worked on my nails(gel) for 3 hours-I had enough! Not only did she take 3 hours just do gel- she cut me 3 times and she just laughed. The whole time she couldn't even believe how bad she did bc she kept mumbling to herself and laughing in disbelief. why would they hire someone that can't even do a gel manicure??? When I arrived I had told Anne that I needed one of my toe nails to be fixed. It was literally just a TINY chip, the lady that was going to fix it insisted that she repaint all of my toes. I told her that wasnt necessary since I had just got them done the week prior. I explained how I just needed that one tiny part fixed, but she kept on insisting and just took off the nail polish. I again, said no but she did it anyways. I thought maybe she felt bad since the other girl cut me 3 times and had been there for 3 hours. At the end she wanted to charge me for a whole pedicure. I explained AGAIN how I just wanted my chipped toe nail fixed but that she insisted on redoing all my nails. She didn't even give me a pedicure she just repainted them on her own! My feet never got wet, massaged, cut down, NOtHing like that. Yet, they wanted to charge me for a whole pedicure. I told her I would pay for fixing the nail which is about $5/7 but not a whole pedicure bc I never got one. It was a mess, so unprofessional!! A couple of years ago, one of the ladies was picking her nose with her fingers, no tissue, just picking her nose. She never washed them and went to work on a pedicure after that. They are very inconsistent with their prices, and most of the time an appointment means nothing. I am so done with them. I found a better place now thank Goodness. No offense, but I never had high expectations in Vietnamnese nail salons. Although all of them were competitively cheap but lack of service nor skill. Today I have a brand new start with Day Nails Spa!! I checked the yelp reviews and decided to give it a go since it's nearby. I arrived around 4ish today. A total of 3 manicurists plus the owner. 1 manicurist was helping a customer for mani. I did my soak-off gel elsewhere, the owner told me $7 for removal. I then asked for the price of normal spa mani/pedi. She said $24, but will only charge $5 for removal instead. Later, I realized I should do soak-off gel instead since its far more long-lasting. Checked the price and product they use. Gelish, $25. Reasonable. So without normal mani, it's $16 for pedi itself. 2 manicurists helped me at the same time. Both are friendly, patient and detail-oriented. They used brushed to clean excess polish around the nail edges. Though both of them made a mistake (a scratch? I didnt see clearly) on one nail/toe, instead of covering more polish on top (which I hate to see the most), they cleaned the polish and re-did it patiently. ((APPLAUSE!)) The lady did my nails checked on me from time to time, such as how I want my nails, how I like the shape, etc. The lady did my toes did a great job as well, I just wish the massage can be longer and stronger. Owner was nice and friendly, came over to check on me couple times. She remembered all her returning customers' names as I saw her greeting everyone by names. She asked me to fill a list with my name and service I've done at the cashier. I guess that's how she remembers everyone haha. My total: $25 soak-off gel + $5 removal + $16 spa pedi = $46 plus $10 tips. I haven't written any yelp review for a long while. My friend and I were in the area to buy some fish next door for my tank and saw this place. We decided to get a pedicure and to get my "gorilla feet" (as my friend calls them) waxed. My feet were not that hairy (for the record), but thought since I'm getting a pedicure anyway, might as well go the whole nine yards. I know guys are not usually viewed as the best sources when it comes to evaluating Nail Salons, but I'm pushing through those sexist stereotypes and giving my opinion anyway. =] 1. CLEANLINESS: Unlike other salons that I've been to, this place is very clean. They don't overcrowd the room with a clutter of unnecessary beauty products that make you feel like you're witnessing the aftermath of a bar fight between RuPaul and Marilyn Manson. The floors are sparkly clean, the chairs are scrubbed clean after every customer! I was impressed to see them do that immediately after they finished with the customer before me. :) They have pretty nice pedicure chairs. 2. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The lady that did my pedicure and wax was very friendly. She offered suggestions on how to maintain and care for my feet while she was giving me a pedicure. After I was done giggling from the foot scrub, she briefly massaged my foot which felt AMAZING! Some reviewer complained that her boyfriend didn't get nail polish after the pedicure. Trust me, as a guy, I am happy to pass on the nail polish. Haha 3. PRICE: I paid $16 for the pedicure. I thought that was reasonable considering how great of a job she did. My feet were pink and spotless! I didn't want to walk afterwards from fear of getting them dirty again! I also had my feet waxed for an additional $10. Ok, so maybe I have SOME hair on my feet, but what guy doesn't? =P 4. AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: The magazine selection seem to be highly women oriented. Clearly men also go to salons. Let's get some Newspaper, TIME, or other business mags, something other than gossip stuff. But that's secondary nit-picky stuff. I moved here almost a year ago and have been desperately trying to find a nail salon as good as the one in Whittier I used to go to. Seeing good reviews I decided to check this place out. I called about an hour after they opened to see what the wait would be like. The lady told be to come right away. I got there literally 7 minutes later. I was sat right away but the technician wasn't ready and had to put her iPad away and find all her items so she could start my nails. After about 5 minutes of me sitting down she started my nails. She was very gentle and definitely took her time to get everything right. One thing I can't stand is when a technician uses their own nail to push back a customers nail. She did this the whole time and sometimes it really hurt! From there on out the whole process was very slow. She got the length right and the shape was just ok but it took her over 2 hours to do my nails. It was just a full set, short length in my opinion, gel polish, and a design on each ring finger. It's a pretty basic design too. (And compared to other salons there wasn't a large selection of gel colors, not that I was given anyway). Although I thought it was nice work, it took way too long. Once she was done I gave her a $5 tip and went up to pay. I nearly passed out when she said it was $46. From the price alone I will never come back to this place. I don't mind paying good money for good work but $46 is insane. Mind you, the other place in Whittier charges $32 for the same thing, just as nice work and it takes half the time. The three star review is because of the length of time and cost. If you don't mind being there for a while and don't mind passing a lot then it's a decent place. read more

She's very nice and personable. Quality is everything to her so if you don't like how things turn out tell her right away and she'll fix it then and there at no extra charge. I was staying in El Monte, and had some time to spare. My feet were in desperate need of a pedicure, so I went on Yelp and found this place. It was exactly how the other Yelpers described. Nice massage chairs, very clean facility. I went at 10am on a Sunday, so the place was empty except for me. They did a good job on my French tipped nails. They asked if I would be interested in getting the callus removed, and I've never had that done before but after seeing the grim they got off, I'm glad they suggested that. The bad - it was strange that in the middle of my pedicure, a young woman came in and just started sitting down staring at the woman who worked on me. Later, it hit me that she was an apprentice - but they never said anything about her, nor did the lady who worked on me speak much to her. Another thing is - it IS kinda pricey, especially for the area. It was $16 for the pedicure, $5 for French tip, and $6 for the callus removed. I usually can find cheaper in this area. read more

I brought my girlfriend to the nail spa recently. According to my girlfriend this was a very nice place to get her nails done. They even have a lot of magazines for me to read while she got her nails done. While reading the magazine I decided to get my eyebrows waxed since I have a bush as eyebrows. This is my first time having my eyebrows waxed and they were very nice about it especially since I was a little nervous.
