Sometimes these country establishments are hit or miss. I am happy to report back that this diner was a hit. I visited, hubs in tow, this past rainy Sunday. They had sold out of the Country Girl, which was the fried chicken and biscuits, so I opted for the sausage and biscuits with eggs, and hubs tried the lemon ricotta pancake with homemade blueberry jam. The eggs in the savory dish featured the creamy bright orange yolk I love from locally farmed chicken. Biscuit was a nice size and the gravy was meaty and tasty. I could have used a couple more spoonfuls though. The large pancakes were perfectly fluffy, and the jam (though they could have been more generous with the topping) was a perfect match. Good, solid, stick to your ribs food. Service was friendly and quick. Only miss was the acidic stale coffee that was likely sitting around for a couple of hours). I'd say prices are on the higher side, but still, a better deal and quality than the brunch at Babbler nearby, for example. I did some digging after lunch and learned that The Wildair/Contra team from NYC opened this place. So I'm not surprised that this place made a good impression. Will certainly be back! read more

This luncheonette is a must-go if you're in the Catskills! Perfect for a pre- or post- hike meal, if you're visiting the nearby Kaaterskill Falls. (Come early, as the restaurant closes at 3 p.m. like most spots in the neighborhood). I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry jam. Pillowy-soft with just the right amount of lemon zest. I also got a side of breakfast sausage. Savory, juicy and thick cut. Trust these guys for the best quality! My partner ordered the day's special, which was a corned beef sandwich with a delectable crispy crust. YUM. Thinking about it days later. It was such a clever touch to pan fry both sides of the sandwich with cheese. Served with generous portion of hot fries. We also ordered coffee, which came in those classic diner mugs. Someone tell me - why does coffee taste that much better at a diner (or diner-type place). It has to be those mugs and the atmosphere. So nostalgic. But seriously, it was a good pour of coffee. Sit back and relax. This is an adorable place with floral wallpaper, clean lines and comfy wooden chairs. Dried thistle flowers adorned each table as decor. It's the quintessential Catskills spot for me! I saw someone bring in their wiener dog to dine with them. So, I also assume this is a pet-friendly establishment! (Ask first to make sure). Such a great spot, def worth stopping by! Being a fan of the Wildair team, I was very excited to try this place out. We stopped by on a Monday for brunch and it was pretty quiet with some people coming in a bit later. The space is nicely decorated, pretty minimal but cozy. Everything in the menu sounded so good, it was hard to choose since we don't make it up here very often. My partner and I ended up sharing the breakfast wrap, cheddarmelt, and a side of hashbrowns. Everything was delicious! Portions were pretty generous, too. Service was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely recommend checking it out! If you're stopping in here, skip the standard lunch offerings and get one of the things others are raving about in the reviews - lemon ricotta pancakes, the lemon pie, cheddar pancakes, and so forth. We made the mistake of coming in the later part of the lunch hour on a Sunday. The place was packed, staff seemed to be changing shifts, and the wait was very long - the only seats were at the bar (not particularly comfortable) and we waited an hour and a half for a BLT, a burger, and a corned beef hash. The BLT was good (and you get a choice of truly thickly sliced bacon or more standard crispy bacon - wanting to try something a little different, I went thick-sliced and wish I hadn't). The disappointment was that the chips aren't house-made - they're bagged kettle chips, I'm guessing Cape Cod. The fries that came with one of my dining companion's burger were lukewarm and also disappointing, so I'm not sure who missed out here. The corned beef hash was reported as "alright." Not quite what you want to hear when you're paying around thirty dollars per person for diner fare. The star of our experience was the slice of lemon pie we all split - definitely try this one out if you stop. The staff, when not absolutely busy, were friendly and helpful. Seating is sparse, try to not get seated at the bar if you can avoid it. Lots of tables had a few children with them, who were given coloring sheets and crayons to keep them occupied through the wait. If we stop in again, we will focus on the items that seem to carry the rave reviews of Day June, no matter the time of day. read more

I've been to Day June a few times since they have opened. The food was good but they have never seemed to get their footing. Their kitchen struggles to keep up and the service is friendly but absent and with no sense of urgency. Today was similar, but the food was very underwhelming. The Day June burger was supposed to come with 2 patties and it only came with one. It is also supposed to come with fries or chips and it came with neither. The Frylet was supposed to have cheese, but much likely the hospitality, it was absent. I've appreciated their fluffy eggs in the past, but this time they were overcooked. Overall, the whole experience from start to finish was just about 2 hrs with no acknowledgment of the wait.I always hate leaving negative feedback, but I hope that can recognize the opportunity and take it. read more

When first patronising Day June when they were new to the Community, they were good. A member of staff, who has departed, was far from friendly and inviting. A small group of us (5) had lunch after a private gathering elsewhere. Waitress was different from the two we had previously, and was far from attentive. Add into the equation loud rotten children and it went downhill quickly, never to return. One ordered mushroom soup; was good, but complained it was too salty. I tried; it was very good, however, the more I ate the soup, the more I could taste the salt, making it inedible. My Italian hero was good, but not for the price charged. Asked for syrup for the lemon ricotta pancakes and received a small cup that would barely cover one. Grilled cheese and eggs, bacon, etc, no complaints there. The lemon pie was delicious as always. I understand the waitress was by herself, but to ignore us for a considerable length of time is inexcusable, especially since years ago I worked in kitchens, and it wasn't that busy. Started bad. Consistently got worse. Poor service. Long waits. Hair in food. Walk in and waited to be seated. Made eye contact with the hostess multiple times before she came over to seat us. When we did get seated, we waited for another 15-20 minutes for someone to come over with menus (place was a little over 50% full). While we were waiting, we decided to look up the menu online so we could have our order ready once the waitress finally came by. Waitress eventually comes over but didn't say a word to us, didn't ask for our drink order, just dropped off two menus and left. While we were waiting for the waitress to come back, we noticed multiple parties standing at the front waiting to be seated while the hostess stood in the kitchen talking to coworkers. Waitress comes back, we order the sausage breakfast sandwich and then the corned beef and hash w/ eggs. Ask if the breakfast sandwich comes with home fries. "It doesn't but it has a hash brown patty on it". Decide to get the home fries as an extra side. Restaurant still isn't at capacity, food took about 25 minutes to come out. The sandwich was atrocious. Bun was burnt on all sides, inside and out. Hash brown "patty" was paper thin and also burnt. Sausage was flavorless. Eggs were fine. Side of home fries and the home fries that came with the corned beef and hash were flavorless and dry/almost "gritty" on the inside, like they weren't cooked or stored properly. About 80% done with our dishes before we find a hair in the corned beef and hash. We stopped eating after that. Waitress never came to check on us while we were eating or after we finished eating. We were waiting so long we stacked out dishes to make it clear we were done. After trying to get our waitresses attention again, a separate waitress noticed we were done and offered to bring us our check. Over $40 and over an hour later, we finished a truly mediocre breakfast. read more

So good! We randomly found this place on Yelp while traveling in the Catskills and we're so glad we did. The food was outstanding! The Cheddarmelt especially - well done cheddar cheese melted onto pancakes, topped with salsa. A dish I haven't seen before, but was absolutely delicious. As can be expected, there aren't a ton of great food options in the mountains, so I'm extremely grateful for this cozy spot! Their salads are loaded and satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the Caesar salad; the dressing is so flavorful. The soup of the day was Cream of Chickpea, which I had never had before, but was delicious. They have lots of classic diner meals like corned beef hash, and you even get to choose between thick and thin bacon. The service is welcoming and quick as well. read more

My favorite place around for breakfast/lunch. My go to is Nana's plate, but I've had the steak and eggs, oatmeal, acai bowl, yogurt, and honestly it's all good. Oh and the biscuits with gravy are great, will try it with the chicken next time. The place is nice, maybe 10 tables total, and the service is good. Only thing, after you get the check run it to the counter yourself. They really don't rush you, so they won't come back for the check for 15-20 mins. read more

No hostess which made it uncomfortable for us to approach the staff who didn't seem to be that friendly on top of what seemed to be all over the place. This is a must-go spot in the area, and the best part was our waitress who was both knowledgeable and really invested in providing excellent service. She shared information about the specials, which sounded excellent, however we decided to choose options off the regular menu. Both dishes (breakfast burrito and two eggs with sausage) were excellent - so good in fact, that my only regret is not getting the special because the waitress seemed so passionate about it, it must have been incredible. Can I just say WOW!!! Such a cute little place that packs a punch in all aspects. The food was impeccable. The waitress was a sweetheart and the owners came by our table for a little chat! This little spot was previously Nana Gails but is now a modern luncheonette- something that this town NEEDED! This little spot is a must! Fresh beef sourced from Schoharie Highland Hollow, INCREDIBLE thick cut bacon and the best sausage I've ever had- not too salty, not too sweet. Had a great experience here at what happened to be a newly opened restaurant. Great ambiance/decor, and menu gave it the feel of a modern, homey diner. Our table shared a bunch of things, and everything was so good! My favorites were the cheddarmelt pancakes (never had anything like it before!) Biscuits & Gravy, and the Dipper burger. I left very full and happy. I guess the folks who owned Nana Gail's (the predecessor diner at this location) were ready to retire. I had enjoyed Nana Gail's a handful of times, so I'm thrilled that Day June is a great replacement and is actually a vast improvement in my opinion! Stopped by today for lunch. Got there about 1 pm. We were seated immediately. About 50%of the tables were occupied. We waited over 5 minutes to get the menu ( in most establishments the menu is given to you when you're being seated). After another 10 minutes no one had even come by to ask if we wanted a beverage much less take out order (the menu is not huge so it doesn't take long to decide what to order). After a few more minutes I went up to the staff member who had seated us and said "you've forgotten us" ( she was busy drying cutlery) and she turned and said "no I didn't forget you, we only have one server and there is another table ahead of you yet". I responded that "we are leaving and we won't be coming back". Not sure what the duties of this staff member are ..as she was working the front of the house she could /should have been helping the other staff member who appears to have been the server. TBT we've been there for lunch about every 2 months since they opened in 2023...food was good though it was always slow in delivery. Today was abysmal and has permanently decided for us not to return. BTW the staff member that I spoke to just shook her head when I said we were leaving and won't be back. read more

This place is pleasant enough, but right now nothing special. Prices are 2-3X what Nana Gail's were for similar items of slightly higher quality and this place is closed on Tues & Wed, both of which factors make it less popular with locals. Went there on a Saturday and there wasn't a single local person there. I was surprised to see several customers in shorts and bare legs coming in--perhaps bicyclers or day hikers on vacation? It was chilly. I was wearing a sweater. The wait staff was very amiable, but they are understaffed. They were telling entering guests that they should wait at the counter for a table, even though half the sparse number of tables were empty. The food is fairly basic, decent quality, but not much spice or variety. I was able to get basic coffee and juice in a reasonable amount of time, but had to seek out a menu on my own. The good coffee came in a very small mug, completely drained in two swallows by the time my food came. The food was hot and came in generous servings, but fairly bland. Toast came white, pre-buttered, no jelly. Sausages were good, but bland, split lengthwise. Bacon was good. Scrambled eggs came more like an omelet, in one solid lump with a liquid center. Tasted fine, but not exactly scrambled. I was given a pepper mill for fresh pepper. Hash browns came with slightly undercooked potatoes--completely edible, but not browned. My flatware came with my meal, but I couldn't help but notice another couple that had ordered pancakes got their pancakes, but no forks or maple syrup. Their pancakes got cold while they waited five minutes for forks, then another five for the syrup! They didn't complain. A group of 3 came in and waited a good ten minutes at the counter, without so much as a cup of coffee, even though the table they were eventually taken to was empty and already wiped down when they entered. The staff were very charming and solicitous of me, but it isn't the kind of place to catch up on local gossip that Gail's used to be. No one on staff had a minute to chat and the loud background music was of the bland health spa sort, making it hard to hear. This place has potential, but hasn't hit its mark yet. read more
