LOVED the ambiance like there was live jazz music, a gorgeous bar, cool bartender with top hat, and unique drinks! there's also cushion everywhere so you don't hurt yourself (excuse my design brain) LOL but perfect for date night or girls night out
What a fabulous jazz bar. I came here for the first time last night, and it was so fun. I reserved a table ahead of time (not required but recommended on weekends) for 7:45, and music starts at 8. I wanted to stay longer than 2 hours though. The music was great - something about love jazz! The band was fun, and the singer McCall was so humorous. Drinks are good and strong, and they have different alcohol flights too like scotch and bourbon flights. My favorite was the minty and chocolatey Grasshopper. The bar is beautiful, and the whole atmosphere is classy. We dressed up a little and were in good company. The servers and host were all very friendly and looking sharp. They have music every night of the week, so we will definitely be back. It didn't fully fill up till around 9pm, so I'd probably come a little later next time.
Can't beat the atmosphere and ambiance here. So beautiful and service was exceptional, we rarely had to wait for someone to tend to our requests--they were readily available. My favorite drink I ordered here was the Ella Fitz, particularly ordered because I absolutely love St Germain Elderflower. It had Hellx Vodka, Elderflower, Aperol, Lemon, Cucumber, and Lavender. It tasted deliciously sour and super refreshing, would come here again just to order this again. The live music was incredible and it was just the perfect place to be immersed in conversation, drinks, and music.

This is exactly the experience that I received as I paid a visit to "Dawn Club", a cocktail bar combined with speakeasy vibes and live music that showcases jazz, swing, big band, and other genres of music. Located on Annie St and just a few steps away from Market St in the SOMA/Financial District of San Francisco, this place has been delivering some amazing tunes and vibes in the current form since 2023. Keep in mind that reservations are required here as seating is limited. However, if you arrive in between 5-7pm, they will accept walk-ins. The business hours usually run from 5pm-12am while staying open until 2am from Wednesday through Saturday. Even though this place has only been around since 2023, there is a ton of deep rich history behind it that goes back nearly a century. The original Dawn Club (with completely different ownership) existed in the same Monadnock Building on Market St in the 1930's and 1940's as it was a popular music venue from the Prohibition-era up until the end of WW2. Considering that everything ceased to operate up until 2023, the current ownership did the unthinkable and recreated everything as if you've taken a step back in time to a bygone era. This takes me to the interior layout of this place. There are no words to describe just how much I appreciate what they've done. The dim-lit lighting paired with the gorgeous bar, art-deco styling, swanky leather seating and beautifully-marbled tables really showcases just how well executed everything is. I'm also a huge fan of jazz music as the entire ambiance and environment is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Since we had a 7pm reservation, we were seated towards the front near the stage. Our hostess took our order as I went with a "Mutt's Mix" for myself and a "Grasshopper" for her. As soon as 8pm rolled around, the band "Fog City Swing" arrived on stage. They are a well-known big band ensemble that make several appearances at Dawn Club. The entire vibe and electricity hits perfectly as this is more along the lines of a dark bar that you might experience in New York or Chicago. All in all, "Dawn Club" absolutely exceeded my expectations on all levels. The entire layout, drink selection, and variety of musical guests that play here is definitely up my alley. Therefore, I am giving this place a perfect five-star rating.

Decided to spend the weekend in San Francisco and found myself craving something that felt East Coast. I'm a huge jazz fan and will forever miss a proper New York style jazz bar. After a little digging on Yelp , I discovered Dawn Club and was instantly transported back to my early 20s--young(ish), vibrant, and full of energy. Tucked between two skyscrapers in the Financial District (or whatever we're calling it now) in SF. This place completely took me back to my East Coast days. Total New York jazz vibe. Beautiful ambiance, fantastic and staff friendly enough for a big cit dealing with different characters....music was absolutely on point. Honestly? I had such a good time. A cocktail or two in (Old Fashion of course). I found myself doing a light shimm (millennial version, as I'm 45ish) twisting my hips just enough to avoid breaking hip. That left this solo night out with zero regrets and pure joy. The band was flawless. The piano had its main-character solo moment that made the crowd erupt. The cello slowed everything down and settled the room. Then the trumpet brought everyone right back off their seats, into a vibe and onto the dance floor. Thank you for such a great night. I'll absolutely be back as I found my birthday celebration destination in the future!
Had a great time here on a Friday night. Lot of cocktails to choose from and the music was fantastic. My grasshopper was delicious. Never had it before. Bring your date, bring your friends. This place doesn't disappoint.
Awesome little jazz club that has live music every night, including Mondays! The place feels like modern elegant yet retro1940s 50s 60s...such a nice change of beautiful ambience compared to the many dive bars all over San Francisco. Staff were all friendly from the hostess to the bartender. $15 cover charge for a romantic table, but no charge if yo spot at the bar. Cocktails and drinks are little bit more pricy, but well worth it for the elevated experience and live music. Will be back!
I can't say enough good things about Dawn Club! If you're into live jazz, this is the place to be in San Francisco. The music is consistently fantastic, with talented musicians who create such an authentic, vibrant vibe. The drinks are equally impressive--creative, delicious, and clearly made by bartenders who know what they're doing. On top of all that, the staff is amazing. The host is super friendly and welcoming, and the bartenders strike that perfect balance of professional and personable. You can tell they genuinely enjoy creating a great experience for everyone. Dawn Club has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. Perfect for a date night, a night out with friends, or anyone looking to enjoy great music and great drinks. Highly recommend!
I love this place!! Really cool jazz bar yummy drinks and just overall chill and fun vibes. Service is always great! I usually sit at the bar cause I like to watch the mixologist make the drinks. Great for date night or even for a night cap.
Pricy but quality cocktails. Be prepared to spend at least $20 per cocktail. No outside food allowed. It's free to sit at the bar but $15 per person if you want to sit at the table. They have a stage with live musicians. Parking very limited.

Great place to hang out with friends. Had a good time listening to music and enjoying some cocktails. Our server Jackie was busting her rump all over the club making sure we were all taken care of. She really made the night perfect.

Fantastic evening feeling fancy at Dawn Club. Saw Adam Klipple Soul Jazz Quintet, comfortable chairs, beautiful venue, extraordinary service, extensive drink menu. Our server was full of personality, re-filled our water, and was an all-out pleasure to meet. Accessibility: Attended with elderly family member and staff was quick to attend to our needs. From the front door, there are 3 steps up to the main bar level. If you need to go around for no stairs, it can be a long walk around the corner, into the hotel, and down the back ramp into the bar. If choosing the latter option, drop off on Market instead of Annie street. Nearby parking lot too. read more

If you love live jazz, whiskey, and bourbon - Dawn Club is it. We accidentally showed up an hour before things really got going and were wondering if they were even open. I'm so glad we decided to stick around because it meant we scored the best seats in the house for the live jazz performance! Within the hour, the place completely filled up, and people were struggling to find a seat. If you want a good view of the band, get there early! The drinks were fantastic, especially if you're a bourbon or whiskey fan. The atmosphere is dark, moody, and romantic - perfect for a date night. We stumbled upon this spot by chance, and it ended up being one of my favorite surprises of this trip. read more

Dawn Club has fantastic vibes -- it's a smaller, more intimate space than the nearby Local Edition, and a bit more dressed-up and classy (though no one's shaming you if you're wearing your SF-chic hoodie either). The highlight is the jazz -- the performers always sound like real professionals and you get a great up close view no matter which table you sit at. Got some cocktails and also tried a spirits flight here with friends -- they were all pretty strong! I got a mezcal based cocktail which was very smoky and smooth. The only crime was that they charged $2 for an ice cube in one of my friends' drinks. We found it amusing since that's the first time I've ever seen that happen in SF. Maybe that's the price of good jazz :') read more
We came here on a Saturday night for some live music and cocktails. I found it on Yelp and the Yelpers came through on this one! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I transported to a different era. The bar is beautiful. The decor is nice! Beautiful stage. This place is just what I was looking for. Seating is split between 2 areas. Bar seating (no charge) and the stage area is $30/person. We had great seats near the front on the bar side. They just ask you to order from the bar. No biggie. Drinks were great. I had the Espresso martini. Taste just like you would expect, coffee and vodka. The Ella Fritz was my favorite. Really refreshing even though it was small. The Pancho Lopez with Mezcal was made to perfection. This was great too. I definitely recommend this for a nice date night out! read more
My friend and I loved this spot! We are already planning to go back. We came on jazz night and it was packed. We walked in and were told you needed a reservation or you can stand at the bar. Many of the tables were booked already and the bar was a filled standing room. There were some stools and maybe two high tables that were taken. We ordered an espresso martini from the bar, which was so good! The best I've had yet! It was hard to see the stage at the bar but the ambiance regardless was nice. The artist brought people from the crowd up onto the stage to sing, so it was fun and interactive. After waiting for a while, we asked for a table and they sat us down for $30 per person. Our server was very nice and patient with us. We ordered a drink (I got the Ella Fitz, super sour!!) at our table and just listen to the music and enjoy the night. read more

I went here last night for a BILT event. It wasn't a typical night since the entire place was booked for an event. I love love the Wall by the Bar. It has a cute little stage with a piano. Food and service was suberb. Theres a parking garage right across from it. I love Jazz, I will definitely come back to check it out read more

Tucked away in a dimly lit alley, The Dawn Club is one of those spots that feels like a well-kept secret--until you realize everyone who's in the know is already here. The ambiance is moody, intimate, and effortlessly cool--perfect for a date night or an upscale nightcap with friends. The jazz? Smooth. The drinks? Even smoother. Every cocktail we tried was solid, but the standout was The Grasshopper--a mint chip espresso martini hybrid that somehow manages to be both nostalgic and grown-up at the same time. Absolute perfection. Staff was super attentive without being overbearing, and the whole place has a curated, classy vibe that makes you want to linger. It does get busy (especially on weekends), so I definitely recommend a reservation unless you want to try and walk in and get some bar seating! read more

An amazing experience to those who enjoy jazz! it's quite an intimate space with limited tables and a bar towards the back that you're welcome to stand by when the music is playing. The band we saw was mostly improv jazz which is so cool, i was expecting smooth jazz but i was delightfully surprised. Reservations are highly recommended as it can get quite busy. Our server was very sweet and she checked up on my party when our drinks were empty, and always made sure we had water. The show is about an hour long, and it's also the recommended reservation time. No food is served, and it wasn't easy to know this as the website doesn't include to much details on whether or not we'd have food and drinks, so we were a bit disappointed but nonetheless a great time here. They do offer a small snack but that about all we knew of. I'll definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family! read more

Ambience : really loved the ambience. The bar area is beautiful Service: We were seated immediately since we had a reservation. It is $30/ person for a table reservation. Our reservation was for 8 pm on. Friday. The jazz music started at 8.30pm and was wrapped up by 9.30pm. There is no food available. I ordered Nikka whiskey flight/ tasting and I loved it. The presentation of the flight was cool. Although by 9.40 we felt that we were rushed to get out of the club. read more
So classy and intimate! San Francisco, beautiful things like this. Feels hidden in a smaller street. You just have to know, to know. $30 per person after 7pm for a table, you can reserve online on their website or opentable. Pay by credit card first. Shows start 8pm No fee if you walk in and hangout at bar but it will be crowded and likely standing room only. Bar is gorgeous. Live jazz music, check the calendar online to see who is playing Drinks are around $22 each. No food available. read more

Dawn club is perfect if you are looking for a jazz bar! The interior is very elegant and the music was very good. We didn't make any reservations so we hung out by the bar area. After ~20 mins, we got lucky and were able to snag some pretty good seats in the bar area facing the stage. As many people mentioned, the drinks are a little pricier at $20 - $25 but since they don't charge a cover here, I think it's worth it. The bartenders and servers were also very nice. The reason why this is 4 stars is because I tried 2 drinks while I was there and thought both were just okay. Maybe I need to try some different ones next time. read more

This is a very beautiful space perfect for a date night or special night out! Our server was very welcoming and answered all of our questions about the menu, which was extensive. We tried the whiskey flight and the grasshopper, both of which were great. The live band was really nice as well. My only gripe was it's a small space with the tables packed very close together and people being quite loud in proximity to our table made it difficult to hear the music at times, which was annoying considering the reservation fee we paid to be able to hear live music. read more

A very swanky spot for live music and drinks. The interior is so beautiful. All the seating is on velvet couches and the display of bottles behind the bar is definitely photography-worthy. We came with no reservations and were able to grab drinks before people started filling in the tables for the music. The drinks were classic and elegantly made. It is pricey but definitely worth the experience. read more
Do not miss out on this fantastic jazz bar in the city!! We flew in late at night and were looking for a fun spot nearby - Dawn Club was right around the corner from our hotel and had raving reviews so it was a natural decision. This is a must see in SF imo - just a really classy upscale jazz bar with the best vibes, amazing music, and creative drinks. Service was so friendly and quick as well. We opted for the bar seating which was so cozy and fun. Can't wait to be back and will be recommending this to all my friends! read more
Came here during the storm and even though we were 30 minutes early for our reservation, they still sat us. Note that in order to get a reservation after 7pm you do have to pay a small fee per person, which goes to the band. Per the website there are time limits, however, because of the rain I think we were allowed to stay longer, which was so awesome! We caught the first set of the band and had a great time. The ambiance is swanky, sexy, and cool. A really awesome place for a date. They do not serve food, so eat before or have plans after! And yes. Yes yes yes the drinks are EXPENSIVE. However, the bartenders are really crafting some unique cocktails and service was spectacular. We had 4 drinks (whiskey flight and 3 cocktails) and it came to $109 (not including the fee for the reservations which you pay when making the reservation). I've been to many speakeasy's and lounges in SF - the price is slightly above what you would expect to pay, but you're also paying for the ambiance, the venue, the music - all of which was excellent during my visit! read more
Wonderful ambience: very intimate vibe to bring a date for the night. I specifically reserved for a table service which required a person fee when there is band performance(starting at 8PM). However, you can walk in for the bar section and get few drinks there. Time limit is 1.5 hr stay. *no food, just cocktail menu. -1 star because even after paying the table service that's specifically stated going into band performance, the drinks price are still a bit high for me personally. Most speakeasy or nice bars are normally $17-19. However, here are ranked from ~ $20-24. Overall, I enjoyed the performance. Interior is lovely as well. I would come back for special occasions or a date night. read more

I'm 34... and as I age I find myself drawn to spaces that are a bit more sophisticated, about good drinks, great conversation, and music! How can you not like a legitimate jazz club with an impressive whiskey selection! They've got cocktails and some very nice spirits! The staff is extremely pleasant, and the vibe is to die for! The type of place you visit once and find yourself frequenting consistently as other spots just disappoint you and leave you craving more! I wish I knew about this spot sooner! I will absolutely be returning in my SF adventures! read more
