I met up with my friends here over the weekend, and the vibe was so mid that we dipped before even getting to see the DJ we came for. On the dance floor I got smacked in the face by another patron with zero spatial awareness doing full on arm rotations like at the gym. I don't think he intentionally hit me but still doesn't excuse the behavior. At the bar, I ordered a drink that straight up tasted like medicine. While trying to down the astringent cocktail, yet another patron started chatting me up while I waited for my friend to finish a conversation with someone else before we returned to the dance floor. The stranger claimed to be friends with one of the DJs who performed early in the night and said he was trying scope out the general crowd, but I found his approach intrusive and just wanted to return to my friends. When I first arrived, I thought this bar seemed really nice. It's very clean and has a vibrant atmosphere, so it definitely has potential. However the crowd that it attracts and the underwhelming cocktail really brought down the mood and influenced my friends and I to bounce and go elsewhere. read more

I'm always here! Find me during happy hour to get my review then :') jk... Hidden gem right by the gym we go to. It's gonna be a sad day for us when more people discover just how great of a spot this is and happy hours will then be packed out, but for now, we enjoy being able to just walk in with a group of 2/3/9/12/however many and having a reliably great time due to the giant TVs and ambience. Shout out to the steak fries we always get!! Love the free sampling they do as well occasionally :) Also been here to go out and crowd is a good vibe! Hella inconspicuous on the outside and hella detailed inside. Variety of decor works for this place with jungle vibe wallpaper and gold infused wallpaper on the ceiling. Velvet couches and marble tables make this place a vibe. They have happy hour 4pm-7pm with light bites and a few cocktails. The cocktails look pretty and are strong which is appreciated. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we were able to put in some bites minutes before happy hour ended. We ordered the crispy Mac and cheese balls and fried oyster deviled eggs. My drink was the Sally something which was a tequila with hisbiscus and honey and other things. It was delicious! My friend ordered a non-alcoholic drink but asked for a shot of vodka and the waitress was impressed. She thought about ordering it for herself next time she's off lol The light bites were satisfying. Definitely can tell they take their time prepping, making, and plating it. Even just for some happy hour bar bites, it was definitely an elevated look and taste. With the upper level and sizeable stage, this place looks more like a club than a bar. Went there with my wife and two friends last Saturday night. RSVP'd for what was advertised as "free". It was actually a $10 cover. We got in before 11pm and drinks were buy one get one free until from 9-11pm. Not a very big venue, but there weren't that many people there, so we had plenty of room on the dance floor. My wife tried to put her jacket on top of an area around the DJ booth and a janitor told us we couldn't leave it there. There's basically no place for your jacket there. The speakers are very powerful and if you don't wear ear plugs you'll ruin your hearing. We went to the bathroom and after I went I tried waiting for my wife in the hall. The security guard said I couldn't wait there and that I had to go inside the club. My two guy friends ended up getting bottle service without asking me first and called us over to the table. We don't drink, but of course we hung out there and after the club filled up at least we could dance there. We were constantly disturbed though by the employees and had to keep moving for them to walk by. The craziness came after my friends finished off the bottle and were drunk, the one whose card was used more than the other. Management came over and told us the card was declined and if someone else didn't pay for it they would call the police. I asked the manager why they're telling us the card was declined so late after they already drank the bottle. They should have known whether the card was accepted or declined before they started bottle service. This is some really shady, sleazy stuff they do over there. My and my wife simply walked out and left and I'll never go back to that club again. Clubs like this deserve to go out of business. read more

I had a blast at the show and would highly recommend it for anyone. The show was exhilarating, funny and poignant. My wife and I had seats close to stage right and it was amazing to see these performers up close and personal. They are crazy athletic and their enthusiasm is infectious. We had a snack of focaccia and fugazironi which were both tasty so I'm down to try some more food when I visit again. So whether you're from out of town or a local, young or wizened, it's great entertainment. I'm definitely telling my friends about it and I'll be going back. read more

when I tell you me and my partner had one of the best nights in SF, I mean, it's literally because of Madarae. Came across this location via an Instagram post and love supporting new businesses. I made a reservation through Yelp that was confirmed 2 days later. I also slid into their Instagram DMs to ask them additional questions and they were very responsive. SERVICE: it was absolutely TOP tier. Most of the night, we were taken care of by Phoenix (the manager) who was incredibly phenomenal. When I tell you I felt like we were celebrities, I don't think I've ever gotten this level of royalty treatment. The attention we received, the kindness and just overall great service was unforgettable. FOOD: I'm not going to lie, I was not expecting the food to SLAP as hard as it did but when I tell you I'd come here just for the food, I mean I'd come here just for the food! We got the chimichurri fries which were perfectly crispy, the grilled cheese with bacon on sourdough bread (delicious but sourdough isn't my top choice of bread so that is why this wasn't #1 FOR ME, but it was so good). Finally we got the Ahi tuna tacos--when I tell you those MELTED IN MY MOUTH I mean, YUM! Those were 100% my fave! DRINK: I started off with the Alice Smith which was pretty tasty and then continued with Long Island ice teas that weren't the strongest that I've ever had but they were good. My partner had the Big Daddy beer and if you saw what he looks like, absolutely hilarious to have him drink a beer called "Big Daddy". I love it AMBIANCE: we arrived a little before 830pm. Though I wasn't keeping up with the time, we definitely arrived at a transition time where the "day" people were finishing up and the "night" people were about to arrive. I think by 11/1130pm, lights had been dimmed, the place was packed and everyone was dancing. OMG ! They had violinist playing! Like he was absolutely amazing!!! That, I have never seen. OVERALL: 14/10. This was legitimately one of the best nights I've had since moving to SF in 2022. Happened to stumble across this spot on the way to happy hour after work. The intriguing neon lights lured us in. It turned out to be an even better location. Inside was pretty empty since it just opened and early in the day. The decoration inside is awesome with the animated pink swirls on the wall all the way to the ceiling. We got to sit on velvety sofas. Drinks were great. I liked the fruit cocktail Alice Smith that came with a little star floating on top. Would caution against the drink with gochujang which was strong and spicy. Overall, had an amazing time here. Such a cool spot to visit and take in the trippy pink atmosphere. Be ready to be kicked out by very rude by the security guys at 1:35am even though website states club closes at 2am. They say to you "go fuck yourselves " when you try to reason them. Just had a holiday party here last night. It was perfect for our size. They offer catering and can tailor the party to your needs. We had a small budget to work with so we had to opt for a buy your own drinks party, but it went well regardless. Great host DJ - Mikey Tan knew how to cater to the room. The space itself is beautiful decorated. The event manager was on it all night to help. Had a coat check, had great bartenders, staff were good about cleanup, someone monitored the door and on point to bring out more food. Restrooms were clean. I really liked the digital display throughout the space. They allowed us to bring our own special guests to host and give a show. My only critique might be to get a better mic system, definitely couldn't hear that well, but otherwise I highly recommend this gem of a venue. Parking is great in this area at night. Public transportation all around and it's a relatively safe area. We'll see you again soon. read more

I went to Madarae this past Saturday 2/8 for a Value Culture event. I typically don't send drinks back, but I asked this bartender named Dan for a recommendation between two drinks, I ended up not liking the taste of the one I chose. I went back to him after a few minutes to ask if I could get the other one instead. He said to me that he couldn't do this because it would be a waste of alcohol from my drink that I had a few sips from. I told him that it wasn't right to brush this off, he proceeded to ignore me. Fortunately another bartender by the name of John gave me a new drink after I explained what happened since Dan wouldn't exchange my drink. It's unfortunate that I had to go to another bartender to get proper customer service. Do not order drinks from this bartender Dan unless you want to encounter rudeness. read more
