I'm going to give this four stars based on food. We were there during the early lunch time and our breakfast food was great. I had the country omelette which how can you go wrong with country gravy on eggs. The draw back was the service. They weren't to busy when we walked in and it took to long to get someone to take our drink order and then for it to be brought to us. We almost ended up leaving just because of that. My very first W-2 job was as a busboy in a pancake house. Davidson's reminds me much like that kind of pancake house with breakfast as a specialty. Right next door to the Jiffy Lube on Pacific Highway near Walnut St. BIG breakfast menu and ordered an omelette which came with two HUGE pancakes. And note to the bus girl: "Atta girl" for wiping down the salt & pepper shakers (that often get syrupy) and complete wipe down before resetting the tables. Much better than ever I did. TLDR: Somehow the customer service was worse than the already terrible food... I came here on a Sunday morning with my boyfriend to get a nice brunch. I expected them to be busy, given brunch time on a Sunday. We got seated quicker than our initial 10 min estimated wait time, so we were happy. The owners brought us our drinks and menus to look over. We noticed that we had no silverware/napkins/straws on our table, but assumed someone would bring the items out to us shortly. We ordered our food after 30 mins of waiting. The waitress just came up to the table with her notepad out and stood there. Didn't say anything, just waited for us to give her our order. My boyfriend ordered a milkshake, which arrived maybe 10-15 minutes after we ordered. At that time, we asked for silverware and straws as we STILL had not received them (45 mins after being seated). We finally received them. Our food came out 20 minutes after the milkshake (meaning we've been there for over an hour by now). I got a pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend got a French dip. Both sandwiches had meat that tasted incredibly freezer burnt and the meat was SUPER dry. Nothing was seasoned and it was completely bland. This was the straw that broke the camels back and we decided to leave. I went out to the car while my boyfriend PAID for our UNEATEN plates. We honestly just wanted to get out of there by this point. My boyfriend gets in the car and I notice that the owner is walking up to my window. I unroll it and he starts asking "for feedback" and "why we left". However, every time we began telling him what was wrong, he would talk over us. Aside from that, he consistently argued against everything we said but DID agree that "yes we were slow in getting you silverware". All we wanted to do was take our loss and leave to find another food joint, yet we ended up being chased down by an argumentative owner. Our friend Lenall suggested this restaurant and we're so glad we stopped. The soup of the day was cream of broccoli and was homemade-delicious! The wait staff is pleasant, engaging, and went out of her way to make sure we had a good meal. We splurged on pumpkin pie and it was really good-and I generally dislike on our. The food was good, but it's the staff that earned 5 stars. It was a busy Friday night, the credit card system was down, confused geriatrics yelled incoherently, and the staff still managed to get us seated, fed, and out the door in a friendly and timely manner. Friendly atmosphere! We were both greeted with a smile. (To me that is always important when entering a restaurant or place of business) The decor of the place was clean and warm. The restaurant has a large selection of food here which we took almost 20 minutes reading all the different entrées. It was nice to see photos with some of there dishes. We ordered clam chowder, teriyaki beef, two special apple pie and marionberry pie, two salads, fish and chips, root beer float, and OJ. We enjoyed our meal!! We met the owner, Diane. I think she might be germaphobic because I handed her my VISA and she placed it on the counter instead of my hand. She handed back my copy of the receipt and placed it on the counter even though my hand was extended to her both times. I find that funny being in the restaurant business where you want to be personal with your customers so they feel welcomed. Love this place! Food tastes homey and comforting. Large portions. Great cinnamon rolls to take home and have for breakfast the next day (or as a midnight snack!). Love the lemon chicken and that creamy, lemony sauce. Enchilada plate is good, and breakfast is great. I like their hours, open at 6am for an early birdie like me. I have stopped at Davidson's a few times in the past but never for T-Day turkey dinner; I wasn't disappointed. Fresh, delicious, and well packaged for take-home. I am now enjoying a bowl of leftover split pea soup & my mother, Anita who was a true New England Yankee would have given the soup a 98/100. She also would have liked Mr. White's Shaker Lemon pie made with the always delightful Meyer Lemons! Score 95/100. The Meyer lemon has been commonly grown in China in in containers for centuries. These days it was popularized by Chef Alice Waters in the late '90s. How can you go wrong when Martha Stewart features them? I doubt I can grow them in OR but people from CA sure can! read more

The only reason why I rate 4 stars rather than 5 is because I feel for the price that you pay, the portions may not be on par. Having said that though, the food tasted amazing! Husband and I shared a bowl of home made beef barley soup which is BEST I've had in a long time! I had a two-piece halibut with potato wedges and my husband had Caesar salad with a piece of salmon. Both fish items were cooked perfectly- we were told they bring in fresh fish daily. Light breading on halibut (I often remove batter from my fish and chips before eating since can be saturated with grease but wasn't needed with my meal here). The potato wedges could be compared to a Jojo, however, were not breaded or fried- they were baked. Homemade Caesar dressing for the husband salad which was tasty as well. A large, warm bread roll was also served with his dish. We live a half hour away but were in the area so decided to give this family-style restaurant a try. Super glad we did and even declared that'd we'd make the trek across town to eat here again! Even with the prices. Grub food is worth it! read more

The staff is nice and they always have a smile on their face. There are seasonal favorites to be had- pumpkin pancakes, roast beef, holiday themed dishes. But the food is lackluster. Small, quaint place. Cute outside and in, like a small diner would look. We walked in, and weren't greeted right away. Which is fine because the service was good there after. Alberto was very nice. My daughter had the cinnamon roll French toast, which my husband and son wanted to steal. My son had the short stack, with sausage & eggs. My husband had their bacon waffle. I had the no carb mixed grill. Our food was super delish. My daughter said the eggs were amazing and my husband & son agreed. I'm always weird on eggs, so I can't comment, but if I could I'd say they seemed better than other places. The bacon was on point, as in the best of the best. The kind were the fat taste like heaven! Their sausages were good too. I wish I had pics, but we were hungry, and our plates left empty. Not huge portions, but exactly perfect so your not hungry. The have the type of ice people like to crunch on. My husband said the coffee was good, my son drank all his OJ, & my daughter liked the hot chocolate. Today I went out to eat with my friend and her family. I order the biscuits and gravy and half way through eating it my friends mom tried to take a bite of my food and realized there was several pieces of hair in my food. After realizing that I found several other little hairs through out my food. After telling our waitress she took our food into the back. Then she came back a few minutes later and tried to blame it on me. I work in a restraint, and I realize things get crazy but I had my hair in a bun the entire time we were eating out food. Not to mention she took the piece of food with a clean fork and it was very obvious that the hair was under the gravy. Then to top off our experience when we were checking out we asked to speak to a manager who then continued to blame the situation on me when all I really would've appreciated was an apology. This is not the first time I've had service problems here. Not to mention they had the wrong special on their specials board around 2 pm. I wouldn't advise bringing my family here if you don't like hair in your food. read more

This is one of those places that's been around for what seems like forever. It hardens back to a day when family-owned restaurants and diners ruled the landscape. Where hospitality and friendliness was common and the waitstaff knew your name and how you liked your coffee. I wish there were more places like this still around. I've eaten here numerous times and never had a bad meal. The staff really does know regulars very well, and are helpful & fast! Today I got the French dip. When I ordered it, I was hoping it wouldn't come out with processed beef like so many places now serve. Davidsons did not disappoint. This sandwich was stuffed full of real beef, plenty of au jus, and a heaping amount of fresh fries. When I bit into the sandwich, it immediately reminded me of all those road trips I went on as a child, when we'd stop at a local, highway diner. Perfect! Love those types of comfort food meals! I have lived 5 minutes away from Davidson's for 30 years, so I have eaten there on many,many occasions. They used to have great breakfasts and their other food was good high quality at decent prices. Not anymore! I gave them 3 chances to get it right, tonight was my last night there. I will not go back the food was just wrong and when I complained to the waitress,her response was "Oh." What I ordered was the tostada salad with ground beef. What I got was a salad on a plate sitting in a literal pool of undrained burger grease. I wish I would've taken a picture, it was gross. My friend asked for a fruit salad minus the cantaloupe. It came with cantaloupe right on top. When she questioned the waitress about it, she was told that it "wasn't cantaloupe, it was melon." The service is unbelievable! Right there to refill coffee or iced tea food came out fast and amazing. Very very pleased and would recommend anybody in the area come down if they haven't already. WORSE STEW AND CUSTOMER SERVICE! Ordered the special tonight beef stew. It tasted like chili, I tried t eat the meat and veggies but after just a few bites I sent it back and asked for a small salad. We wanted shortcake but the waitress was no where to be found so after waiting a few minutes we decided to leave. We went to the Hostess and the Waitress showed up and added a salad to our ticket, but she did not remove the Stew. I informed the Hostess I sent the stew back because it tasted awful. I went into Davidson's for breakfast and noticed a "transaction fee" added onto my ticket for using my debit card. $0.64 was added to the $16.00. This is part of the cost of doing business. Elmer's, Sherri's, Ihop, and J's do not do this. I have been a business consultant for years. This is cheap! What's next? Water/sewage fee? I will not be going back. At once a week, they lost $832 a year. My friend that was with me will also not be going back. Sad business practice! read more

We frequently enjoy breakfast and lunch at Davidson's Restaurant. The service is very friendly and quick. We like to sit at the counter -- it's energetic and entertaining. Fun to watch hotcakes, waffles, and big plates of breakfast being made by the cooks. For lunch I like the Asian Chicken Salad (the small is big) or a Hamburger. Also like the grilled tuna -- it's on basic old-fashioned bread -- definitely a diner sandwich but for some reason I find it delicious. Love the way they prepare their omelets by 'rolling' the ingredients up like a crepe with the cheese all up in there. The coffee is typical diner coffee but you can drink a ton of it so in a way, that's sometimes nice -- fill 'er up! read more

Hubby and I drive by here a lot and decided to have lunch. The supreme burrito looked good judging by the photo but I think it was a bit too filling so I ordered the quarter pound burger with fries. Hubby ordered the Friday lunch special, beef stroganoff. Our server was nice and friendly. It's a nice quant diner. Decent crowd during the lunch rush hour. We walked in to Davidson's for dinner and we realized we were the youngest customers there. Somehow we like to dine where old folks are partying it up. We got seated right away and we explored their pretty large menu. They serve your standard American grubs, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, soups, salads, and even Mexican? I'm not sure why they have Mexican food where House of Tamales & Sanchez Taqueria about two blocks away. We got couple sandwiches, a cup of clam chowder, and their homemade Root Beer float. OooOooh how I loveee their homemade Root beer float. It's refreshing and not too sweet. I wasn't too crazy with my fish sandwich, but the Clam chowder was pretty delicious. Service was excellent, very friendly ladies work there. We will be back and next time we will try breakfast grubs :). read more

However when i got the food there wasn't that much in the way of eggs and bacon in quantity or quality. The pancakes were ok but wasn't super good. Finally, with anticipation, my husband and I had time to make Davidson's our breakfast destination. I usually do not give negative reviews but here I struggled to give even two stars.....only because my Egg Benedict was good, but it was most we had ever spent on Eggs Benedict...anywhere. One young gal greeted us right away and took us to our table. Another lady asked if we would like coffee. My husband regular...... and decaf for me, which had to be brewed. Great, fresh coffee. Neither of these ladies was our server. He came not to long after my husband got his coffee. We placed our order and I was still waiting for my decaf. The other lady must of not told him I was waiting for decaf. After some time my husband had to ask if it was ready. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and two eggs over easy and sourdough toast. I couldn't tell that it was sourdough bread. Very plain and tasteless. My husband who is pretty happy with any meal could not finish his breakfast. At least half was left. We honestly never had such a tasteless and bland meal. Now if we were at a retirement home where some residents can not have salt or spices I would understand. The Chicken Fried Steak had no flavor, neither did the breading. The gravy was if you boil water with flour and then you get a tasteless paste to bind books. I know this because my mom bound antique books and as I kid I knew what that tasted like. Hey, it was cooking on the stove, had to try it. The only difference was, this 'gravy' had pepper, the book paste did not. Not sure if something went terribly wrong in the kitchen or if this was their recipe. I do not think it was delivered by Sysco because they offer much better products. My husband was asked about his breakfast so he shrugged his shoulders, said it was ok. After clearing the table, our server came back with our bill and said that the coffee was taken off the bill since my husband did not care for his breakfast. This is diner food. Not a bad choice. I read a review on Mr. Breakfast.com and had to try this place. Unfortunately, I was craving eggs, and they stopped serving breakfast at 11:30 on weekdays. I will be back to try breakfast. I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for good breakfast places. I arrived around 2 pm, and this restaurant was a little less than half full. I noticed quickly it is a favorite for the senior folk. We could choose our own seating, and I took a single booth. Wait staff was very friendly, and most patrons were regulars. The staff knew several older customers and immediately greeted them with their beverages of choice, and no menus were needed. Davidson's has daily specials, a nice selection of sandwiches and hot plates, and they make their own root beer. I will be back to try it, I am a big root beer fan. I looked over their breakfasts. I was surprised because previous reviews stated there was a Mexican flavor to the menu, but I could not really spot a trend. There were two dishes with salsa and guacamole, but hardly enough to call this a trend. I really expected at least one breakfast dish (or more) with chorizo, but none on the menu. I ordered a turkey club with tater tots and a vanilla shake. The shake came out in the aluminum mixer cup, and I was given a plastic mug which already had some other liquid in it. I had it replaced, and the bus boy meticulously checked the next mug, which had a chip in the rim. The shake was nice and thick, and sweet. The sandwich was good, no complaints. Stopped in to buy one of their amazing raspberry pies. Waited for the young hostess to return after seating diners, she asked how she could help me, I looked at the one raspberry pie in the case by the register and her I'd like to buy it. She looked at it, then glanced at the case back by the dining counter and responded, "yeah, that's our last one and its reserved". Then informed me I could try again tomorrow. I suggested as I left that she needs to remove if from the case. She needs training on customer service. Being the 1st person your customers come in contact her ineptness could negatively impact you. read more
