The staff here are amazing. I went in on a Saturday afternoon in hopes to find my dream dress. I was hesitant to go there because of all the reviews but my consultant, Sana, made my whole experience amazing. She listened to what I needed and bought what she had. She's very friendly and sweet and actually cares about you instead of just making another sale. Sana interacted well with me and my family. She made me try on different dresses(other than the style I wanted) just to be sure of my decisions. After 45 minutes I finally found my dress!!! If it wasn't for her I probably would've went crazy. This has got to be the worst Davids Bridal ever! The ppl are fairly nice, but it runs very poorly. I called @11:15am asking if I had to make an appt to try on just one dress. She said no and that I could come in any time. I told her i'd be there in 15min. She said no problem. I arrived in 10min and another woman said I had to make an appt for 1pm that day. I came back @12:45pm. It is 1:21pm now and I am still waiting. Apparently the consultant who is supposed to meet with me is not even here yet!!! I am so mad!!! (8/23/2011) read more

Let me start by saying I work in High end retail and I know the business very well. This place is unprofessional and is selective on who they treat with respect and good customer service. I came here excited to get my first wedding dress arriving at 11 am when they open. When I get there we were turned away at the door because we didn't have an appointment. We begged and ask please to see someone because we came from Manhattan. She said come back at 2pm. We come back 3 hours later and was paired up with an associate who was our race. I say that to say when I get upstairs every associate is paired with their race, interesting. Found my dress. Alteration department made the experience a little better. They were patient and nice. Overall I DO NOT recommend this place if you want good customer service. These girls are probably just as miserable as the people they work for :( read more

I had the WORST experience shopping for my wedding dress. Something that should be exciting for a bride to be, turned out to be a nightmare. I will try to keep the story short even though I can't even begin to explain how much time I've wasted on trying to fix fight this and be able to end up with a dress that actually wanted to wear on my big day... I came to David's Bridal in Paramus NJ on April 8, where I found the dress that I hoped would be the one of my dreams. I loved everything about it except the front which had lace coverage and I wanted a dress with a sweetheart shape front. When the salesperson convinced me that it was possible to alter, I decided to buy the dress. I came back on May 12 after driving 2 hours from CT. First off, they had me wait almost an 1 hour from when my appointment was until someone came to help me. In the mean time, I had put on what was left of the dress. They had cut off all the fabric from the front and it was now way too low since my boobs were falling out of the sides. The straps were uneven and the dress could barely be zipped in the back. I was extremely upset. They kept trying to convince me that it could be fixed by adding back some of the fabric that had already been cut off... by that time it was already 9pm and they were rushing me out. I had to tell them that if someone wanted to fix this problem I wanted to take it to a store closer to where I live in CT. They scheduled an appointment for the following week in Norwalk CT. The day came and I was hoping that someone in the Norwalk store could fix what they had messed up in Paramus. I told them my story and they had me put on the dress. The alterations manager looked at me for no more than 5 seconds and immediately said to me "this dress can't be fixed. It's ruined!". I was shocked. She told me it should have never been altered since the dress is a low cut and the fabric on top was there for a reason. They basically lied to me to sell me a dress and then overcharge for alteration fees. Yes, the manager in Norwalk looked at the receipt and told me that they had charged way too much for alterations!! And not only that - they ruined the dress completely and didn't even try to fix it by offering me a new dress. I had to go to another store for them to tell me the policy which is when they damage a dress you are entitled to a new one! At that point, I was only 1 month away from the wedding and I'm left with no time to look for another dress. So I ended up agreeing to find the same dress and just take it as is without altering it. This was not the dress of my dreams - but with the time, money and stress, I couldn't even process the idea of having to find a completely different dress! The Norwalk manager located a dress in Yonkers and told me I had to go there asap to see it as it was the only one left in the country. She scheduled me for the next day at 12pm. I live in work in Stamford so I had to take a day off (which is not paid because I'm using all my vacation on my wedding) to go to ANOTHER David's bridal hoping this would be the end of it. At the Yonkers location they had the dress on hold, but I came to find it in worse condition than the one I had originally bought. Makeup stain, beads were loose and the dress dirty (straps were completely grey). They assured me that they would do they're best to make it look nice. And to be honest, I didn't know what else to do than just take this dress. In the mean time, they had been trying call the NJ location to get the money back from the alterations so I didn't have to pay out of pocket for the hem alteration. But no... when they finally called me back, they said they couldn't give store credit over the phone and just sent the money back to my card (I still haven't received the amount)... They pinned me and I walked out 3 hours later feeling like I should've NEVER gotten my dress from David's bridal. My fiancé has seen how stressed and upset I have been and he called customer service to complain. They then said they could get a new dress from the warehouse so I don't have to get one with loose beads and makeup stains. As nice as this sounds, I now have to go back to Yonkers and do the fitting all over again. I am drained, exhausted and extremely frustrated about this experience. I wish I had never walked in to David's bridal. If I knew that the dress couldn't have been altered in the first place - I would've gone looking somewhere else! But then again, that's probably what they knew so they just saw an opportunity to sell a dress and rip me off. I'm no longer excited about my wedding as I've had to deal with this. My wedding was at the end of July....I did the entire shopping experience which started at David's Bridal and several boutiques later ended at David's Bridal. The staff there is great although they do want to make a sale (as that is the business) they were still very patient and assisted me in and out of many dresses (because I wanted the full experience!). Of course I ended up purchasing the original dress I had fallen in love with on my first visit and have absolutely no regrets! Their alterations department is phenomenal and really pay close attention to detail also making any final alterations only days before the event to make sure there is a perfect fit! I was lucky enough to find comfortable heels that complimented my gown along with my veil and clutch. There is not one thing I would change about my decision to use this store and the quality of my dress was absolutely breathtaking. Several layers of lace along with a corset back.... As far as my bridal party I went with Adriana Papell dresses from Macy's and they were beautiful, the girls were thrilled too that they could wear them again unlike traditional bridesmaid dresses... just a suggestion :D Happy shopping!!! read more

The staff at this David's Bridal are the worst. I bought my dress there and was told to bring it in 2-3 days before my wedding for a free steaming. Well it is not 3/3/15, 3 days before my wedding and I called to see when I could bring the dress in. I was told by a very nasty woman in alterations that it cannot be done. There is no time and they don't do steamings on premesis and they were booked to send it out. I asked to speak to a manager and the woman instead hung up on me. Now I have to pay to get it steamed somewhere else. All this is on top of the snotty sales associate who helped me get my dress in the first place. Aside from the good prices at David's Bridal, I would not recommend anyone going there. And don't beleive a word they say. read more

I have never had a worse experience with any company with dresses, and I've been in 4 weddings. The ENTIRE experience was a disaster, but especially with this store in particular. After my MOH and I picked out 3 top picks for her, they then told us none of them were available. At all. Anywhere. Then after about an hour and a half of settling with a dress not even the right material, she tells us that the one we originally wanted WAS avail, she put in the wrong number "HAHAHA". I cannot even begin to explain how horrible my experience at David's Bridal was. And it's a shame because if given better customer service, I probably would have bought my second dress there. My first experience at the store as a bride was with consultant Marlen. She was nice, but did not give me her full attention because they overbooked her and she was helping other brides try on dresses as well. Although she was helping me put the dresses on, I felt rushed. Then towards the end of the appointment, she was pushing me into purchasing a dress, even though she knew it was my first time trying on dresses. She said the sale was ending that day even though the sale lasted pretty much all month. The second time I went to David's Bridal, I requested a different consultant. This one was even worse than the first. Ida was NO help at all. First of all, she wasn't even paying attention to the type of dress I wanted and started picking out the opposite of what I explained. Second, she was SO lazy she didn't help put on the dresses like Marlen had the first time I was there. Also, she was more focused on another family that was trying on dresses. They definitely need YOUNGER consultants that know what they're doing and not just doing that as a part time job like Marlen. Marlen even tried shoving me her business card because she was a fulltime florist too. I know David's Bridal isn't Kleinfields, but they should look into better customer service. Don't buy your dress there! The prices are not worth the aggravation. read more

I went to David's Bridal to find my wedding dress. It was my first experience trying on and I was alone and feeling quite anxious. Luckily I was paired with an AMAZING consultant- Tyrell. He was so helpful, had a bubbly personality, and really cared about my needs. He gets an A++ However, I made an appointment and expected the experience to be very different. Upon arrival, the "welcome desk" really wasn't all that welcoming. I'm coming to buy a wedding dress and I'm a bride, I expect to be at least greeted with a smile. I really didn't like how the fitting rooms and mirrors were all so open and right next to each other. I want to focus on myself trying on my wedding dress, not see a bride RIGHT next to me who's eyeing up the gown I'm trying on. And THEN one of the consultants (short black older woman), actually came over to me, grabbed the price tag on my sleeve, read it, and went over to tell her client! While it was still on my body! There were children yelling and running around. It definitely wasn't an intimate, "all about me" experience. I didn't feel special, or that this was a special experience for me. Granted, I didn't have a wedding party, but that shouldn't mean that I deserve a lower standard of treatment. Out of all the employees I talked to, only one actually congratulated me- Tyrell. Then I was taken to alterations where two of the seamstresses gave me a very hard time about how expensive my alterations would be. (I had received a discount via the manager so I wasn't paying full price for alterations.) One of them literally said to me, "you realize how much this is going to cost us?" Luckily Nadia came and took over and was such a sweetheart, and I'm grateful that she made the experience end on a better note. Basically instead of being made to feel like an important bride, I felt like a burden to nearly every employee I talked to. I understand they were busy with prom season... But you only try on and purchase a wedding dress once. And it was a shame that my memory isn't more positive. read more

Went here with my friend as soon as we walked in we were greeted and received help right away from one of the associates. However, shoes in the size needed were not in stock which is fine it happens but seriously the pair that was in stock was Dusty inside the box. Associate was very rude and cold she was not sensitive in her explanation of sizes and was being very loud in her reasoning. I also caught her rolling her eyes as we were trying things on. Like come on! Please if you don't like your job find a new one! David's bridal u need to come together as a TEAM and address these issues to make your business better. My friend was so upset that your associate embarrassed her in front of everyone about the size she chose by saying she is breaking the clips! I originally had an appointment set for a few weeks away, when I received an email about their sale being extended. I decided to go to the store and see if they would see me today I know they are by appointments. They took me in and treated me great!! Thea was amazing I gave her pictures of dresses that I wanted to try on and she brought them all and figured out my taste right away. I worked with Thea for my appointment. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my time. I came in with a 600 budget and a provided a list of some dresses I liked from the DB website. First off, Thea barely helped me into any of the dresses. She just passed them off the hanger to me and zipped me up. Once out of the dressing room she didn't bother to fluff out the dress or adjust it in anyway. When I didn't find anything I liked, she said the problem was my budget. In my opinion this is very unprofessional comment. Then when I tried to DISCRETELY ask about a dress another bride was trying on, Thea loudly said "that's in a whole other price bracket", again very unprofessional. I kept asking her to make a suggestion even if it was out of my budget and all she could say was that there was nothing on clearance that I would like. She finally managed to bring me 1 suggestion which unfortunately I didn't like either. Her response to that was "well you've already tried on about 20 dresses". Call me crazy but this is a dress for one of the most special days of my life so if I want to try on 40 dresses that's my choice. She clearly didn't have the patience or just didn't want to be bothered with a bride with a small budget. The only good thing that came from the experience is that I ended up at another shop nearby, Bijou, where I found my perfect dress. The staff was so friendly and professional. I ended up buying a dress double my budget because they took the time to help me find "the one" and I couldn't be happier. I'd like to preface this with the fact that I am reviewing the David's Bridal located in Spring Valley, NY, at 19 Spring Valley Marketplace. This review is based on 2 visits. I scheduled my appointment to find a wedding dress and had a FANTASTIC appointment thanks to Perryn. I was there for a total of 2 1/2 hours, and she was with me the whole time. She was so attentive and helpful and sweet that I had such a fantastic experience. She made me feel comfortable standing in the dressing room with her in my underwear and nothing else while she helped me get in and out of dresses. She did a great job of bringing me all the dresses I liked, and offered her opinion, and basically catered to me (important for any bride to be). I actually had fun, and she felt more like a friend than an employee. I requested her when I scheduled my bridesmaid dress appointment. Sadly, this appointment did not go as well. I was given a different associate although Perryn was working, but I figured it was ok. The associate I had today (Nathalee W Consultant # 665633) was the complete opposite. I had 4 ladies with me and after she brought us the dresses, she disappeared for 15 minutes. When she came back, she said a customer had cornered her in the front. Fine. She stuck around a bit and helped me get into my dress (which I have to say, came in about a month after ordering, despite the 15 week estimate). Then she disappeared again. She finally came back and I told her which dress we settled on, and we all went to the front. Then she informed me that her next appointment was there and she had to go, so someone else would ring us up. Ok, she spent a total of an hour with us, while we tried on 3 dresses (well, really she didn't spend the hour with us since she was obviously helping other people during our one hour appointment). Then we realize that she didn't tell the associate who was ringing us up what dress to order. Fantastic! All in all, I'd give today's visit a 1 and my first visit a 5. Perryn was great, but sadly, not all associates are as attentive. Considering I just spent $900 on my dress and my 4 ladies were spending $120 apiece, I would expect better service. As a result, I have decided NOT to have my alterations done in store. Scheduling that appointment was also a nightmare. I called for 40 minutes before giving up and calling the main number and they transferred me to the alterations line. Speaking to the alterations specialist did not instill me with confidence. I'm happy I got a dress at a reasonable price, but I will NOT return or recommend David's Bridal in Spring Valley, NY. The service is inconsistent and the proper amount of time and attention was not given to us while we shopped for our bridesmaid dresses. Also, when you pick up your wedding dress, you're supposed to receive some sort of booklet. Did my associate today give me mine? Nope! read more

My sister is getting married on 11/23/14 & only had about 2 months to put a wedding together,... Many people referred us to David's Bridal on Rte4 in Paramus, so we made an appointment. We met with *ERICA,* who was very kind, attentive & patient. My sister knew exactly what she was looking for & Erica did a great job at pulling dresses within our budget & made great suggestions/ recommendations. My sister ended up buying the very 1st dress she tried on, along with the veil, sash, shoes, etc! Although the store closes at 8pm, we were there until about 9:15pm finishing up the transaction. Just a note, there's not much privacy for trying on the wedding dresses,... The way their fitting rooms & mirrors are designed it's for everyone to see, which made my sister uncomfortable bc she's plus size but we managed to get a fitting room in the back,... We made another appointment with Erica for myself, the Maid of Honor & our Mom, to find dresses for ourselves,... Last night we go to our 2nd appointment with Erica, but she was unable to help us,... They instructed us to go pick out our own dresses & try them on,... If the floor samples fit & were the right color, you could purchase it right then or else, it could be ordered. Given that we have a severe time constraint, we were worried,... I do notice the consultants favor brides but don't favor the bridal parties, bc we did everything ourselves,... The dress I fell in love with was not available in my size or color at the store,... I asked another consultant if it could be ordered, she said not available until December 2014,... I asked if another retail store has it in stock, she gave me the info for a store in Florida that I was willing to call today to get it shipped to me directly,... Also note that all the bridesmaid dresses I tried on in the store were stained &/or damaged in some way (broken zippers, loose threads, missing hooks, etc),... As we were leaving, Erica noticed I was unhappy with the situation,... She called the warehouse & got an 'authorization code' to get the dress in my size & color delivered to the store by 11/13/14 or sooner,... The dress is unavailable online & according to the other consultant last night, unavailable completely,...? How exactly Erica managed to pull off what she did, I don't know, but I'm not asking either!! It was a huge sigh of relief & we're all super happy with her customer service, assistance & professionalism. I plan to go back & finish purchasing all my accessories there too,... They offer free steaming/ pressing on dresses purchased & will give discounts to bride & bridal parties too,... Just a note, thankfully we didn't need any alterations done but alterations are done right there, on site premises,... I gave them 4 out of 5 stars because the place runs, operates & looks a bit unorganized & lacks consistency. The service & attention you receive here doesn't compare to what you will receive at a boutique, BUT, with the assistance of a great consultant here, you can definitely get lucky. This is a great place for brides on a budget & great value,... We all highly recommend *ERICA,* who was absolutely wonderful,...!! Can't possibly sing her praises enough! I had reservations about going in to Davids since it seems like they get mixed reviews online, but contrary to some of the reviews below, the consultant that was assigned to me, Ashlee P., was very helpful and friendly. She made me feel welcome and didn't rush me during our appointment. She pulled some dresses off of my favorites list from their website as well as some suggestions of her own. She listened to my likes and dislikes and eventually we did find one dress that I really liked and was well below my budget. I didn't end up buying it and went with a dress at a different store that I loved more later that day, but I did have a good shopping experience at this particular Davids. read more

Came here for my brothers fiancé's wedding dress. We were late but they were able to squeeze us in for the appt. which was great. The employees there did not make us feel comfortable. The employee was disappointed that brides mother wasn't there but she was not feeling well. When pushed for a different type of dress she said it was over budget and did not let her try it on much less show it to us. She told us to come back with brides mother and then she'll show us the dress which was only $200 over budget. I would have gladly pitched in to cover that if that was her dream dress. I'm went for my first round of dresses a few days ago, and Thea (sp?) was assigned to me. She was the sweetest, most patient person I ever had the pleasure of meeting. She did not make me feel rushed, even when the store became visibly busier. Even when she needed to help other customers, I never felt abandoned. She checked on me constantly and made sure I never waited too long. I will finalize my decision tomorrow with my second appointment and look forward to a continued positive experience with them! If I could give my experience at David's bridal a zero I would! This was the worst shopping experience of my life and it should've been the best! The girl who "helped us" if that's what you would call it disappeared on us more times than she helped us! She did not put any effort in showing us any dresses even after I explained to her what I was looking for! She was rude and unprofessional! As it became apparent that I was not going to find what I was looking for I explained that to the associate and she literally just walked away from our group. We didn't even get an "I'm sorry you couldn't find what you were looking for... if you would like to schedule another appointment to try something different... or even good luck with your search I hope you find what your looking for!" From this horrific sales associate! I was shopping for myself (bride), two bridesmaids and a junior bridesmaid, two flower girls, mother of the bride and mother of the groom! I came here to find a bridesmaid dress their were two women who helped me and were friendly super helpful but the rest was awful first off my friends wedding is a week from the day I went to look. I had several dresses I picked none of which were my size and needed to be altered. So that's when both I was brought to the alterations side of the store and they asked me when the wedding was I said one week they all laughed and scoffed so rudely in my face so I kind of said okay and walked away to confide in my friend they didn't know I had left and was literally right behind the curtain and they started shit talking me like saying awful things like she shouldn't even be in the wedding or she can't handle it or did she think it was that easy to just walk in and find a dress and they all laughed and I do not kid nor make this up word for word that is what was said. Again I found a dress and all I wanted was a quote and she said NO and I said excuse me I just want to know how MUCH it is to get this altered.. they are not the only ones who do alterations. Just wanted an estimate to take to my local tailor. This was so unprofessional and also really awful to hear from grown women this is very very disappointing and basically 8/10 of the women working here had god awful attitudes like I get that you hate your job and life then maybe being positive in a place such as a bridal place isn't the place for them?? I went into the store on Rt 4 in Paramus,nj with my daughter to purchase a bridesmaid's dress for her. We didnt have an appointment, nor did we know we needed one for a bridesmaid dress.... and after a short wait, we were helped by Rosie...she, was wonderful... However, the store is a messy, and understaffed.....with the unfriendliest store manager I have EVER encountered... had it not been for the fact that the bride chose a specific dress from David's , I see no reason to ever shop at this store... read more

Just purchased a white unembellished dress for an OES convention this weekend. My consultant Steph B. Was absolutely amazing. No pressure , sheer professionalism fron start to finish. Being full figured not only did she listen to my concerns but within 30 minutes she selected an amazing dress with a separate jacket that made the dress look even less than the wedding dress it actually was. Our wonderful David's Bridal wedding consultant Antwann explained that as a bride you will spend a lot of time in front of the mirror, trying on wedding gowns, hair and make up previews and selecting all types of clothes for your day in the limelight. Antwann told us it will be tons of fun and nerve wrecking at times but that's okay! Some brides are self critical and some are a bit big headed. He told us to maintain the even keel we are currently enjoying and to remember the old saying, "Beauty is as beauty does"! As the mother of the bride I have been dreaming of this day far longer than my daughter has. Antwann is an enlightened stylist who was able to draw on my daughters own personal definition of beauty, cultivated and nurtured it. I have absolutely no complaints on how my appointment went. This was my first time trying on dresses so Sheila helped me try on different kinds to see which ones looked best on me.
